00:01Georgia! Georgia! Oh wait, I'm not in Georgia. I'm still in Texas and I'm getting ready to do
00:09more of my Universal movie collections. I heard that you're going to be showing one of my movies.
00:16Yep, one of the movies we're going to be showing is Backdraft.
00:22We also have Fried Green Tomatoes. As well as Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, and Chris O'Donnell.
00:31And we also have Stop or My Mom Will Shoot. Lord have mercy. And American Me.
00:42And I believe he directed the film if memory serves correctly.
00:46Uh, let me check in just a second. And while we're getting set up and while you're checking,
00:53I'm going to go ahead and say in the next part, we're going to show five movies.
00:58Edward James Holmes did indeed direct American Me. Right. And right before I get ready to show
01:04these openings, we have five movies to show in the next part. Want to guess what they are?
01:09Uh, I have no idea. Well, you took a guess on some yesterday,
01:14but I said they weren't going to be on tonight's disc.
01:20Okay. Uh, I'll give you a clue. Think of a Saint Bernard.
01:27That's one. Next one. Think John Goodman.
01:31The Bane. The Bane. That's two. And number three. Hello.
01:37Oh. My. God.
01:40House sitter. That's three.
01:42We should open that up for the next part.
01:45Good idea. And for number four, we have, think, Steve Martin, Meryl Streep, and Goldie Hawn.
01:54Or wait, is it somebody else? That's Bruce Willis.
01:57Bruce Willis. Thank you. I'm sorry. Steve Martin's in House Sitter. Bruce Willis is in the movie we're
02:02about to, that's in the next part. Death Becomes Her.
02:05Death Becomes Bruce Willis' career.
02:08And finally, think Matthew Broderick.
02:13Out on a limb.
02:14Mm-hmm.
02:17Before Matthew Broderick, he screwed up like out on a limb after that.
02:22Well, not really, because he did some successful films after that.
02:26But for right now, we're going to take a look at the opening to Backdraft.
02:31Which has a trailer for Cape Fear on here.
02:37Hey, Bavos.
02:39Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
02:41When that movie came out, I screwed.
02:45No, you didn't.
02:46Hey, Bavos. This movie's about fire, isn't it?
02:54Oh, oh yeah. Fire!
02:57Of course, Cape Fear stars, um, Nick Nolte and, uh, Robert De Niro.
03:02De Niro.
03:04Mm-hmm.
03:07Oh, I got the wrong remote. Oops.
03:10Oh, and Juliette Lewis is in this movie, too.
03:21Jessica Lange's in this movie, too.
03:22It's over Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck.
03:24And there's also the MCA Universal Home Video Presents, The Evolution of Home Entertainment.
03:30Fire.
03:31Pet.
03:33Television.
03:35Remote Control.
03:36Home Video.
03:40Fire.
03:43Yeah.
03:43Encouraging you to pick up a previously viewed copy of a movie that had been rented.
03:52Modern Happy Humans.
03:55Pick up your previously viewed copy of Backdraft wherever videos are sold.
04:07Yep, there's your warning screen.
04:10MCA Universal Home Video logo.
04:13And, of course,
04:15the CGI stand-alone Universal Pictures logo.
04:20Which was the very first Unicef logo.
04:23That's right.
04:24Backdraft was indeed the first.
04:26But in fact, the Universal 75th anniversary logo was seen in the trailer, but not in the movie.
04:31Exactly.
04:33So, for this point forward, it would just be a straightforward CGI logo.
04:38And next on deck, what do we have?
04:41Before we get to that, if there was one thing I could change about Backdraft is that if I was
04:48an executive at Universal, I would put the 75th anniversary Universal logo on there.
04:52I understand you would.
04:54But now we're going to take a look at the next tape.
05:01Which one came after Backdraft?
05:02I forgot now.
05:03Fried Green Tomatoes.
05:05Oh yeah, Fried Green Tomatoes.
05:06Yeah, with...
05:08Mary Louise Parker, Chris O'Connor, Kathy Bates, and Disney Maybe.
05:13Yep.
05:13Now, the first time I saw this movie was on NBC back in 1994.
05:20Oh yeah.
05:22And then next on deck, we got...
05:24Lord help us.
05:25Stop, or my mom will shoot.
05:29Oh dear God.
05:31Which this film was directed by Roger Spottiswood, who to me was best known for directing Turner
05:36and Hooch.
05:37What the hell was he thinking when he decided to direct that movie?
05:41I don't know.
05:42I don't want to know.
05:43But I'll tell you what I do know.
05:45We got some previews on here, also available from MCA Universal Home Video.
05:50I wonder what this movie is.
05:52Death to come to her.
05:54No, it's Red Wind.
05:56Huh.
05:57Oh, and we have the same evolution of home entertainment promo on here.
06:02Oh, right on.
06:05Encouraging customers to pick up a previously viewed copy of Stop or My Mom Will Shoot at your local neighborhood
06:10video outlet.
06:12I have advice for you.
06:14Don't.
06:15I don't know what I was thinking buying this movie.
06:19If I ever had a copy of the movie and somebody attempted it with a tape, I wouldn't care.
06:24I see.
06:28While supplies last.
06:30I wonder how many supplies of Stop or My Mom Will Shoot were actually sold.
06:39I love hearing the bad movie.
06:42Oh, yeah.
06:43To me, Estelle Getty was best known for being on the TV sitcom Golden Girls.
06:49As much as I love working with Estelle Getty, um, the movie was just, I was just so ashamed.
06:58Yeah, along with two other films, Cobra and Over the Top.
07:04It's interesting.
07:06I've seen both of them, and they're both garbage.
07:10All right, one more.
07:12And that is American Me, with, of course, Edward James Olmos.
07:18Who happens to direct the movie.
07:20Mm-hmm.
07:25And here comes the Universal Pictures logo for American Me.
07:36Yep, and this will wrap it up for this part of my Universal Movie Collections.
07:41And as mentioned in the next part, we will be showing openings to Beethoven, The Babe, House-Sitter, Death Becomes
07:49Her, and Out on a Limb.
07:56Oh, my God.
