00:13Afternoon, Michael. After that win, guaranteed third, you had some nice goodbyes for some players as well.
00:19Was that in a way a bit of a dream afternoon?
00:22It was a good day, I think we were really conscious of trying to finish on a bit of a
00:27high.
00:27I think we've made some really good strides as a group, as a team and as a club.
00:36It's easy to get to the stage and I've been part of it myself and that extra spark is not
00:41there.
00:42I think to finish like we did for so many reasons was a good day for us.
00:47You said in your speech that you're hopeful that there will be some more big moments and big goals next
00:54season.
00:57I'm a supporter as well, so regardless of anything I want it to be a lot of good moments here.
01:04I think it's been pretty clear from what I said a couple of days ago.
01:09I think it's the same over the coming days, there will be clarity in the situation.
01:15I think the case of today was important about the game and getting the right result.
01:21Some individuals as well shining today, so whatever the news is going to be, I'm sure you'll get it in
01:27a few days.
01:28Michael, just in terms of this season, you've finished third, that's probably as well as anybody would have hoped or
01:37expected.
01:37But clearly Manchester United, you know third is not the aim.
01:44What needs to happen to move to the next level other than buying better players?
01:50I think there's a couple of sides to it.
01:55Understanding the position we want to get to from where we've been a little bit
02:00and understanding what steps that needs to take and what we've had to make.
02:04I do genuinely think it was a really fantastic achievement to be where we are at the moment.
02:10The players deserve a lot of credit for that and I think you just want to keep improving.
02:14As I said the other day, I think the closer you get to the top of the league, the harder
02:18it gets.
02:20You've got to make big steps, but it's harder to make them big steps.
02:24So yeah, certainly evolving the group is one thing for sure.
02:29That's no negative on the group as it is now.
02:32You just want to keep pushing forward.
02:34We've got a really good group of players that we want to keep trying to improve and get better.
02:38If that's additions, that's additions.
02:40Some of the younger players will be better for it again with an extra season
02:42and experience this club for a year.
02:46You just want to keep moving forward.
02:48That's the only thing and there's not a magic ingredient to doing that.
02:51It's hard work, a bit of brains and a bit of intelligence and a bit of having good players as
02:57well.
03:11I don't want to put figures on it. I just think it's been a really good first season for all
03:18the boys.
03:19Coming in and getting judged on goals and assists, I get that from attacking players,
03:24but I think the overall coping and adapting and improving as the season goes, I think, is important.
03:31Next season, obviously, little bits of different challenges and backing it up is another challenge.
03:37But yeah, really positive with those players in particular and I'm sure there's more to come.
03:42Pete?
03:43Hi, Michael. What have you said to Bruno in there?
03:45Because it looked like at times a day that that record just wouldn't have happened.
03:50Yeah, it's a little bit chaotic down there actually on the pitch and the change room,
03:53so we've not had massively much to say.
03:57It's a tricky one. I think he's dealt with it really well, to be honest,
03:59because for me, watching on from the side, he's going through at times and you're thinking,
04:04what's going through his head? Is he looking for a pass? Is he looking just to score?
04:07Is he second-guessing it? I think he coped with it fantastically well.
04:12And to get the moment, I think, today the way he did it was a really nice moment for everybody.
04:20And credit to him for that, because it's not easy.
04:23But he always puts himself behind the team, the team first,
04:26and today was another one of those days, even though he's going to get the praise,
04:31because it is a fantastic achievement, obviously.
04:33Ty?
04:34Hi, Michael. We've spoken about a lot of players since you've come in,
04:36but one we've probably haven't touched on is Luke Shaw.
04:38Or it felt a year ago like maybe it was coming to the end of his Oxford career
04:41and now it's starting to be Premier League game this season.
04:44I mean, how big an achievement is that?
04:45And can he do that again next season when it's potentially a 60-game season?
04:50I think it's difficult for anybody to do, to be honest.
04:53I think when there's so many games, it's not an easy thing to be able to...
04:57Sometimes it's no fault of your own, you know?
05:00Unfortunately, injuries and things are part of football
05:03and there's other things that come into play.
05:05To start every game is a really fantastic thing to be able to do.
05:11The next season is a new season.
05:13There's different types of runs of games, so that's part of adapting.
05:17But then that's a little bit older and experience and knowing your body
05:19and managing things.
05:23He's at that stage, Luke, now where he's got an awful lot of experience.
05:26He's been here for a long time.
05:27He knows the club. He knows what it feels like.
05:29He knows the ups and he's suffered some of the more challenging times.
05:32So, next season, I think his experience will be valuable,
05:37however many games he plays.
05:39Last question for Sam.
05:40Just continuing on the theme with Luke Shaw,
05:42but also Harry Maguire, Coggy Magui,
05:43obviously the England squad are now probably before we see you next.
05:47Do you think Luke Shaw would deserve to be in the squad as well as Coggy and Harry,
05:50who obviously got back into the fold in March?
05:52I certainly think so, yeah.
05:55I've not got much sway in the matter at all, but I certainly think so.
05:59I think he's, again, the consistency, just what he's capable of doing,
06:04performance, the experience, his strengths, his attributes that he's got.
06:09For me, he's a fantastic full-back.
06:13I think between them, I think, all three of them have done the chances now
06:17while I'm recently pushing.
06:20All right, guys. Thanks a lot.
