Today’s work, [The Golden Paradox], was written based on "Dialectic of Enlightenment," a collaborative work by the masters of critical theory, Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer.
Adorno and Horkheimer warned that as humanity seeks to dominate the world through reason and rationality, that very rationality inevitably regresses into another form of myth or barbarism. In this work, I sought to express this paradox of reason—the new systems of dominance born from rationality.
The line "Every single step we took towards the light / Was just a beautiful dance into our own glossy grave" symbolizes the hidden restraints beneath the abundance provided by enlightenment. Furthermore, the declaration "I am the myth, born from the concrete light" proclaims that rational order has itself become the new myth of the modern age.
The paradox where the order we built becomes the wall that imprisons us, and the torch we held up becomes a golden temple. As you face the countenances of barbarism and myth hidden within the most rational of orders, I hope you enjoy a time of pleasant contemplation as you gaze into the hidden side of modern civilization.
