00:00As I would say, I have very much gotten used to these playoffs from Lindy Ruff or for the last
00:06almost 30 years.
00:07Just like, that's the right note to strike.
00:11Not only is it not over, this is a privilege, and you better be ready for the scrutiny
00:20if you're not willing to put out for this game, just because you think there's no coming back.
00:25He's right about all that.
00:28But we've been trying to figure out Tuck and Thompson and some of the other, you know, whatever else,
00:35like with the Sabres that might be hidden.
00:37Just are there injuries?
00:40And, you know, maybe this also can extend to a couple of lineup decisions that we've talked about plenty.
00:46But, you know, if you have a game tomorrow night, and not to say I'm predicting it, because I'm not,
00:52but certain guys just are not giving the effort, and you can tell, and you sort of get down big,
00:58well, then maybe I don't want to talk about injuries after that.
01:02You know, I want to talk about how, I want to say, like, I'm going to come after their pride
01:08or anything like that,
01:09because I feel like this season has been so tremendous.
01:14I can't even imagine a game where I'm likely to do that.
01:17But, you know, what Ruff is saying is that that will happen.
01:21Yeah.
01:22I mean, I, it really, it all just sort of circles back to the, like, whether or not,
01:29like, how valid the injury question is to you, not knowing, not having anything confirmed.
01:36Like, is that an excuse?
01:39Are you excuse-making for them?
01:41Like, I, because I honestly don't know.
01:43I don't know the answer.
01:44Um, but, but, because a part of me thinks that, oh, of course Thompson and Tuck are giving everything they
01:53possibly can.
01:54This is just, there's a limit to what they have right now, and this is it.
01:58We're seeing it.
01:58They're compromised in some way.
02:00But if I'm wrong about that, then, you know, I think it's going to sound, you know,
02:06it may be a little calmer because some days will have gone by, but I, I, I think it would,
02:13it'll sound really tough around here.
02:16Um, and I would say even from me here, if this comes and goes, whatever happens here, um, you know,
02:24if it's, if it's, uh, on Monday, we find out,
02:27or if it's not until the middle of June that we find out or somewhere in between, if there isn't
02:32an injury there,
02:34I'm going to have a real hard time explaining what, what the hell those performances have been.
02:38Cause they literally have, I mean, they're, they're, they're the worst players on the ice.
02:44And that just doesn't make sense.
02:46There's, I mean, Montreal, sure.
02:49They're faster.
02:50Um, and they're, they're defending differently.
02:52Like Hudson is a player of the caliber of really Boston didn't have, like even as great as McAvoy is.
02:57He's not that guy.
02:58That guy is elite Hudson.
03:00Like he's going to, he's going to win a Selkie or two.
03:02He's that good.
03:03I think Suzuki is going to win it this year, by the way.
03:07I'm at the Norris.
03:08I'm at the Norris.
03:09I'm at the goalie, uh, the defenseman award.
03:11Sorry.
03:12Sorry.
03:12Yeah.
03:12But yeah, no, you're right.
03:13I, so, um, but all that said, like, I just cannot believe that there's just this, this
03:19bad, uh, this wide of variance in their performance.
03:23Um, so I don't know.
03:26Like I appreciate rough there, but I think a lot of these guys already are, are, are,
03:30they just get to do it again.
03:31They have to continue giving everything they've got.
03:33And his message is don't let the spot you're in facing elimination for the first time be
03:39demoralizing.
03:39Let's just go, we just did this a couple of days ago.
03:42Let's go win a hockey game in Montreal and sort of shift the mood of this whole thing.
03:47Well, in net, it'll be Lyon for sure.
03:52And now he gets another chance.
03:55Yep.
03:55After being pulled.
03:57And, you know, you want to think just like we did with Lucanen and Lucanen took advantage
04:00of that in game four and then faltered last night, unfortunately, but that Lyon is sort
04:05of excited.
04:06Like that's back to me.
04:07My chance back.
04:08This is my chance to restate what I think I've got.
04:13And this is like, everything's on the line here.
04:14Biggest game of my life.
04:16I do think probably not to waste.
04:20I think it's mostly wasteful.
04:21Waste too much time trying to read minds.
04:23The, the Canadians goalie got away with one.
04:26We were just talking about this with our guest, Joe Yurden.
04:29And like that, that third goal, if not also the second one, the second one is to sort
04:34of pick, don't just picks a perfect little side that the corner there along the ice.
04:39My section, the rest of the game was like, shoot low, just keep shooting low because the
04:44Helen use goal was, how does that go?
04:46I really honestly could not believe.
04:48I mean, the first goal is the crazy pinball.
04:51Like that happens.
04:52The, the don't goal and the Helen use goal.
04:55I couldn't believe one in.
04:56Yeah.
04:57I just couldn't believe it went in.
04:58So you might be one more away.
05:00That's that play to Timmons we're talking about and other chances.
05:03They're buzzing there too.
05:04End of the first until, oh my God, that last 10 seconds.
05:09Like you're just get, it's three, two.
05:11There's a TV timeout at five minutes.
05:13Get to the locker room.
05:15And they mostly are fine until it's Caulfield and Suzuki.
05:20Maybe it's two of those three.
05:21And, and Lucanen gets across to save that or else it's three, three.
05:26Like that would have really hurt.
05:27And then the beginning of the second, it's all Sabres for a long time.
05:31Culminating in the Thompson breakaway.
05:33Yeah.
05:34After that, it's tied and then we're dead.
05:37Yeah.
05:38And that, and that's largely, that's the goalie.
05:42And as much as you don't want that to take it out of you, that can take it out of
05:46you.
05:46That's why like he, you know, parse it any way you want.
05:51I wouldn't be really mad about the first three goals, but once the game is tied to have that goal,
05:58be the goal that puts them ahead.
06:00And then, you know, it's compounded by Thompson taking that stupid penalty.
06:05Like that, that's another piece.
06:07Like, what are you doing there?
06:09Is it just like, you don't know what else to do because you're so frustrated you can't do anything.
06:13So like, I'm going to at least try to finish a check, even though the puck's not here and I'm
06:17going to get called for another penalty.
06:18We've seen it in the series already.
06:20Man, it's so maddening.
06:22But anyway, those two goals could kill any team.
06:26You know, guys are injured, we're fighting, we're battling, we're getting everything we got here.
06:31And like, what?
06:33Oh, God.
06:35That's so, just so deflating to have that happen like that.
06:42Ten seconds into the power play too.
06:44Yeah.
06:44Click, click, click, 5-3, felt like the game.
06:47And even then, yeah, even if you wanted to talk, okay, well, Lions in and they came from 2-0
06:53down very late to beat Boston in game one of this whole playoff run.
06:56So, okay, two goals, just get one early here and get cooking.
07:00And instead, it's a penalty right away and it's a power play goal and it's 6-3 and like, forget
07:05about scoring early, they did.
07:08A Darlene penalty.
07:09Right.
07:10At least that one, like he, you know, the guy was, it was around the net.
07:15Like, it was a more justifiable foul to commit, I would say.
07:19It was deserved though.
07:20Oh, yeah.
07:21No question.
07:22Yeah.
07:22But at least was a scoring, like, you know, whatever.
07:25It was a, it wasn't a nothing play.
07:27Like, the Thompson penalties have been just stupid plays.
