00:00Will it be for Partick Thistle or Dunfermline?
00:02Athletic commentary comes from James McFarren and Alistair Lammon.
00:07Thanks very much, Jonathan.
00:09It is winner takes all in Furnhill.
00:11It's Partick Thistle and Dunfermline face-off for the right-to-face
00:14at Mirren in the Premiership play-off final.
00:18It couldn't be any more finely balanced.
00:21But what will it take to separate these two?
00:2390 minutes, 120, or even penalties.
00:27Whatever the answer, all the action.
00:30Will unfold right here.
00:34Really crackling atmosphere inside Furnhill.
00:40Ahead of this one.
00:45Almost a full house.
00:48Barely a seat to be had out there.
01:04This will make a couple of changes to their starting line-up.
01:08Robbie Crawford and Alex Samuel coming in to replace Let's Sosa and Watt.
01:13Samuel's made a habit recently of scoring against Dunfermline, including both in last month's win right here.
01:23Dunfermline's only change would be hearings, a highly notable one.
01:27Aston Oxford has already played a significant role in these playoffs.
01:30Recalled by Motherwell and replaced in goal by Billy Terrell.
01:35Otherwise, it's as you were for Neil Lennon's side.
01:42Ali Ashtoft has won two championship promotions, including the 2021 play-off with Dundee.
01:49And the man who played 164 games for Dunfermline would dearly love to go up again with Thistle this season.
01:58Callum Morrison's opening goal on Tuesday was his first in seven games after a run of five and four.
02:05And Dunfermline would hope he's starting another streak to help fire them to the play-off final.
02:13That's Callum Scott who takes charge of this huge game tonight.
02:26Mark Wilson, who came so close last season as co-manager along with Brian Graham in the playoffs,
02:34but lost at this stage to Livingston.
02:38And as the teams have changed ends, it's going to be Thistle to get us underway.
02:45Terrific conditions, actually.
02:47It's a really, really still night.
02:50And we're underway.
02:54These two big, big clubs who both feel they've been missing from the top flight for too long.
03:00Eight years and 14 years, respectively.
03:04And one of them is going to have to wait at least another season.
03:08And here to tell us exactly who that's going to be is James McFadden.
03:13Yeah, I don't know if I can tell you who it's going to be.
03:15What I can tell you is, it's two clubs that are absolutely ready to go and play in the Premiership.
03:21You look at the home fans here, packed, the display at the start, outstanding.
03:27And the away fans packed that away in.
03:30Two good teams.
03:31I think that is tough to call.
03:32So, Patrick Thistle, you would have to favour being at home.
03:36Having that, you know, that rest in between games probably should be up to speed by now after Tuesday night.
03:43Pitch is magnificent.
03:44Hopefully we get a good game of football, but just never knowing games like this out.
03:51Yeah, Tuesday was a good watch.
03:53Chances at either end, certainly beyond the two goals we did get.
04:02Shea Kearney picks up and fires it out to Matty Todd, who once again starts over on that left-hand
04:10side.
04:10And Robbie Fraser offering good support.
04:13That might come for Callum Morrison.
04:15And he just slashes at it and gets it all wrong.
04:18That was a decent early opening in the opening 90 seconds of the game.
04:24Yeah, it's a half chance for him.
04:26I mean, it's good movement, slightly fought.
04:29Juarez coming through to him.
04:30He's first to react.
04:32Callum Morrison keeps his eye on it, just slashes at it.
04:35I wonder if Ben Stanley in front just does enough to put him off.
04:39But the pitch will certainly help both teams.
04:42I know Mark Wilson mentioned it before the game.
04:43I mean, if I put it to the ground staff here, because it is looking magnificent.
04:48But that conferred will be happy with that as well.
04:57This will be the free kick for the Chermings here and Ben McPherson.
05:04Matty Todd setting up the opening goal the other night from that position.
05:11What do you make of the switch up front for Thistle, Samuel for Watt?
05:15Yeah, I think Alex Samuel kept himself unfortunate not to have started on Tuesday night.
05:21And maybe, you know, I think Mark Wilson spoke after the game about, you know, being the plan.
05:26Potentially, you know, it was a case of, you know, playing one, starting one in the first game and starting
05:31the other in terms of him and Tony Watt.
05:33But Alex Samuel's at a tremendous end to the season.
05:38Here comes Thistle through Patrick into Smith.
05:46Now Samuel loops that back in Smith's direction.
05:54Well dealt with by Gilmore.
06:01He's given that, pointed as if he was given that to Don Furlan, but then changed his mind.
06:13It's O'Reilly.
06:14O'Reilly moves ahead of Gilmore.
06:39Ahmad.
06:41Let's get back to Reddington now.
06:43Fitzpatrick just keeping it in.
06:46Come back to Stanway.
06:47He's well challenged by Ahmad.
07:00When you look at the difference between Samuel and Watt, I think Samuel can play up on the
07:06back line, try and stretch the game, Tony Watt likes to drop in and get involved in the
07:12build-up phase, Samuel Watt lead the line through the middle, even more of a link man
07:17for the ball coming in, you look at Crawford and Stanby getting around him, Fitzpatrick Chalmers
07:22coming off the sides as well, he's a slightly different profile player.
07:28One thing the guys were mentioning, pre-match, the fact that he's added goals to his game,
07:34which he certainly has done, 12 for the season.
07:44He was never a prolific goal scorer at Ross County, albeit his time there was really hampered by injury.
07:56Anguania packs that one clear.
08:07Both these sides vying for a place in the play-off final, which will either be next week, if this
08:14will win, or the week after, if Dunfermline
08:17goes to their involvement, owing to their involvement in the Scottish Cup final,
08:21Callum Morrison is intent on making sure it is them in the play-off final as well.
08:27Gilmour.
08:29To Fraser, 0-4 for Andrew Todd.
08:34Trying to free himself in the shackles of Ashcroft, that was O'Reilly in there just ahead of Kane.
08:44Fraser under a bit of pressure here from Chalmers, Samuel gives chase, first big test for Billy Terrell,
08:51and he does enough to force it out of play.
08:59Bobby Fraser has a look here, thinks about it, then he does it, Samuel's alert here.
09:05He's confused as to why it's not a thistle throw-in, but Karell kicks it off.
09:11Alex Samuel, certainly not the type of back pass he was looking for early on in this game.
09:20He has played relatively recently in the first team, back in the middle of April,
09:28Oxford was also recalled to Motherwell, and they stepped in for a game against Ayrsie.
09:38As Jonathan mentioned, this is his 18th appearance of the season, but certainly Aston Oxford is their number one at
09:46this stage.
09:48And he's come up with a couple of big saves, not least the penalty stop in the last minute against
09:54Arbroath.
09:56To ensure their progress from the quarter-finals.
10:13Chalmers, right to McPherson, now Ashcroft.
10:21Josh Clarke had a relatively quiet night at East End Park for all Dunfermline's possession.
10:28And attacking threat, didn't overly work the keeper.
10:42He looks pretty much straight out of play.
10:45A little bit of a tentative start.
10:48He plays it forward.
10:51Morrison does well to force that into Kane, and then on to Morrison who's in behind here.
10:57Just too much on it.
10:59It's a really good chance, though.
11:07It's a big opportunity.
11:09Colin Morrison could link up between himself and Chris Kane.
11:13Looks onside, he's got potentially the option to square it for Andrew Todd.
11:17He's trying to cut across that and go for the far post.
11:20Just cuts across it too much and it goes near post high.
11:24It's a good opening for Dunfermline.
11:30Really hoping that Rue that miss.
11:35Missed a big chance early on against Falkirk in the Scotch Cup semi-final,
11:39but obviously Dunfermline progressed in the end on penalties.
11:46That was a really clear-cut chance for Morrison.
11:52Yeah, I mean it wasn't as good a chance as the one you're speaking about against Falkirk,
11:56but he's not executed it the way he would like.
11:59Clearly he wants to score, but he's trying to go across goal
12:02and keep that inside the post clearly.
12:05But he just slices across it, almost snatches at it.
12:11The positive is that he's managed to get in and get that opportunity.
12:17Riley wins that above Kane.
12:20It's going to be an interesting battle throughout.
12:23Samuel gets a free kick there.
12:26Chillicote Mullin protests that one.
12:38If you test all he likes, it's a pill.
12:44Samuel and Kane, they must both at either end be an absolute nightmare to play against, to try and mark.
12:50They just enjoy that physical battle, whether it's against another physical defender or not.
12:56They just back in and use their strength.
13:01It's a free kick, won by O'Reilly.
13:04Free kick has been given, it's an offside actually.
13:08Floyd is up on the far side.
13:22This will have drawn their last four games.
13:26Need to change that tonight.
13:35I mean, I don't think that's a right call, but I can't do much about it.
13:43O'Reilly certainly wasn't offside.
13:45Ashcroft probably was and maybe just made a motion to go for the ball.
13:50Might have retracted the...
13:52I think it's that long.
13:54Ashcroft is on as well.
13:55I think the angle of God that's deeper in the line.
13:59Closest to the camera there as the ball comes in.
14:09To Samuel who's backing it to Nguena this time.
14:13Closest to him.
14:14Difficulty, here's McPherson slips that through for Crawford.
14:17He tried to do the same for Samuel.
14:19Chilly Cornwallen was alert to it.
14:26Gilmore just shrugs off Crawford.
14:29He's claiming he was fouled.
14:32Referee unmoved by those claims.
14:37Certainly did well in the first instance.
14:40Yeah, he takes a really good first touch.
14:41Chilly Cornwallen gets away from Crawford.
14:44There may be a bit of contact, but I think that's just a heavy second touch.
14:48O'Shean Smith with the big diagonal out to Fitzpatrick.
14:51Chance now to try and get the better of Kearney.
14:54Comes back infield to Smith.
14:57This time finds Stanwy.
14:58Little flick for Aidan Fitzpatrick.
15:01Cameron Morrison there to help his defence.
15:04Concedes the corner.
15:09Certainly something they didn't do enough.
15:11This on Tuesday night, let's go through O'Shean Smith.
15:14We know his range of passing, how he can control games.
15:18Patrick just wanting the space.
15:20Down the left-hand side.
15:21Good defending from Callum Morrison.
15:32Patrick with the corner kicked in.
15:35Teases it in.
15:35It's Nguenia with the header.
15:37Turned by Stanwy.
15:38Nguenia once more meets it.
15:41And then Morrison fouled by Stanwy.
15:43And the pressure relieved on the Dunfermline back line.
15:49Next cover from Morrison who just backs in.
15:53Ben Stanwy knowing.
15:55He's probably not going to be able to take the ball away, but certainly not allowing Stanwy to get in
15:59front of him.
16:03Ashcroft getting the better off Andrew Todd.
16:07Ashcroft getting the better off Andrew Todd.
16:07He shouldn't get back to his goalkeeper.
16:12Ashcroft clipping that one up into the chest of Samuel.
16:15It's going to be Porter Mullen again.
16:18Grappling with Samuel and conceding the free kick.
16:24Oh, the last one.
16:27There's a big space because Crawford and Stanwy are playing wide and stretching.
16:31Mad and Gilmour to allow that ball to go straight into Samuel.
16:37He's got a throw in.
16:45Yeah, Smith's got a lot of room in there, hasn't he?
16:47Just play that little deeper role.
16:49Yeah, it's the job of either Andrew Todd or Chris Kane to go on.
16:52Ossie and Smith, they stop him from dictating it.
16:55But because Crawford and Stanwy are peeling so wide,
16:59they're playing outside Gilmour and Ahmad,
17:01it means that they can get it and move forward.
17:03Or the ball can go straight into the feet of Alex Samuel.
17:06But I have to say, you know, they are doing it well.
17:10Kane and Todd.
17:11But if they switch off and give Ossie and Smith time,
17:14he will be able to pick a pass.
17:15We know that.
17:20Chambers.
17:23Switch your flanks out to Fitzpatrick.
17:26Looks to try and find Stanwy.
17:28Almost got the wrong side of Ahmad Deir.
17:32Looking for the run here of Paddy Reading,
17:34and Morrison's done well.
17:35Gets to see that out.
17:37It's good backtracking.
17:39Imported work.
17:41Yeah, and it's massive.
17:43It's massive in football,
17:44but if you're playing a 4-4-2 then you have to be switched on.
17:47And Morrison is.
17:48Not for the first time.
17:50Alert to the runner.
17:51Reading on this occasion does really well.
18:05The one by O'Reilly.
18:06And Gwena just snips in though.
18:21The only unbeaten home record in the league.
18:24Partick Thistle, a better home record even than the champions.
18:28St Johnston.
18:29On the 12 of their 18 here in the league.
18:36And they're drawing six.
18:38Will be at the moment two of the last five.
18:41One of those was against Unfermline.
18:49Smith overdoing it.
18:50And now Kane.
18:51And if he can slip in Morrison.
18:53He might go himself.
18:54He has got himself.
18:55And he's sent it just wide.
18:57Via deflection.
18:59And they'll get the corner.
19:00And Dunfermline threatening again.
19:02I tell you what, it's great pressure from the Furman.
19:04Andrew Todd.
19:05Knicking it off of Ossian Smith.
19:07Chris Kane looks like he's going to go and play it to Callum Morrison.
19:10He's done me and he's done the two defenders as well.
19:13And that's a brilliant save.
19:15You have to say.
19:16It looks like he's going to go across here.
19:17There you go.
19:18And it's a decent strike.
19:22Good pressure from the Furman.
19:27Really unlucky.
19:29Chris Clark.
19:30Chris Kane didn't add to his quarterfinal goal against Arbroath.
19:35That's Nguena running the header.
19:37Comes out to Todd who will try and get it back in.
19:40He's on his side another corner.
19:43I think pretty much everyone like yourself, James,
19:45was predicting a hard fought, a tightly fought game this one.
19:50And so it's proven in these opening exchanges.
19:52Yeah, it's no surprise.
19:54I mean, two very good sides.
19:56Loads of talent on either side.
19:59And that is going to be close.
20:00I know that the record for Partick Thistle is good against the Furman this season.
20:04But when it's winner-takes-all, that makes it very, very different.
20:17It's a great ball.
20:20It's a great ball then.
20:21Oh, how has that not gone in?
20:24Partick Thistle escaped one there.
20:28Nguena was certainly one of those trying to force it home at the back post.
20:33Yeah, and he should.
20:34I mean, comes off the ball.
20:36Samuels probably doing just enough to stop him from getting a free head at it.
20:41But no.
20:42He should score there.
20:44Nguena.
20:45I know the angle's not great, but his team should be ahead.
20:52The last three pretty decent chances that Dunfermore have had in these opening stages.
21:00Partick Thistle yet to trouble Willie Terrell at the other end.
21:05Causing a bit of anxiety in the stands here.
21:07Stanwy tries to help that on, that'll come through to Terrell.
21:11Immediately bowls it out to Kearney.
21:16Morrison, that's slack from him.
21:18Smith picks up.
21:20It's taken down by Ahmad, but the referee plays a good advantage.
21:23As Samuel puts it out to Fitzpatrick here.
21:27Stanwy in support, as is Paddy Rerich.
21:29Bering with the first-time ball, and that's not a bad ball at all.
21:32Begging to be attacked.
21:34He's just going to drift behind for a goal kick.
21:37It's a great ball out.
21:38And you know the way that he's set back by Aidan Fitzpatrick, that that's the trigger.
21:43Because he's going to step on and hit it first time.
21:46That's Samuel.
21:49Crawford in there, Chalmers, they're all on their heels.
21:51There's only one thing that's happening there, and that ball's coming in first time.
21:54They should be alert, it's a really good delivery from Reading.
22:00They should be alert, it's a really good delivery from Reading.
22:13The Tirell signed from Bournemouth last summer.
22:17So, pretty decent pedigree.
22:24He's chopped and changed over the course of the season.
22:26Deniz Mehmert's had some game time as well, he's on the bench tonight.
22:30and their long-serving keeper.
22:49O'Reilly to Puer, a man picks up to Keane.
22:58O'Reilly to Frieser now.
23:01O'Reilly finds the ball forwards, Thistle pick up.
23:08Chilicoa Mullen gives the ball back to Thistle.
23:12Thistle trying to get the ball back to Thistle.
23:23Thistle trying to get the ball back to Thistle.
23:23O'Reilly to go and build through.
23:24O'Shean Smith mentioned him on Tuesday, mentioned him tonight.
23:28Furman are just shutting those passing lines to him.
23:31And then between Kane and Todd,
23:33they make sure it doesn't go on it apart from here.
23:35But that's exactly what Thistle are looking for.
23:39Here's McPherson.
23:41Pass from Smith.
23:43Now Chalmers. Chalmers teases it.
23:45Samuels there!
23:46Well, there's the first big chance at Stanwy, actually,
23:50who is gliding into the penalty area.
23:54And either side of the keeper, and that's surely the opening goal.
23:57That's a big opportunity.
23:59And just speaking about O'Shean Smith and how they couldn't get him on the ball.
24:02And it's because they're playing it across the back line,
24:04almost waiting for that first pass to go into Smith.
24:07But he's got the other side of Kane and Todd.
24:09And they work it well.
24:12Garrett White, Stanwy, as we know.
24:14Speaking about Adam Goldstein's game,
24:16timing these runs excellent.
24:17They're disappointed he hasn't found the back of the net there.
24:24Yeah, that is a golden opportunity for Stanwy to add to his 12 goals for the season.
24:45The delivery is outstanding from Logan Chalmers.
24:48Timing the run.
24:49I can't believe it, Ben Stanwy.
24:53Great movement, great position for him to beat.
24:55Just trying to glance at the far post.
25:08Midway point in the first half.
25:13And Neil Lennon's Dunfermline being probably the more threatening side.
25:20But almost going behind there.
25:24Ed Lennon's Dunfermline coming to this game unbeaten in the last five.
25:40It's a home defeat by St Johnston, which wrapped up the title.
25:44There's a goal forward, Fitzpatrick looking to get on the end of it.
25:47Kearney gets his toe to not get behind.
26:15It's Fitzpatrick, it's a good ball to the near post.
26:18I think O'Reilly got his head to it, but...
26:20I think O'Reilly got his head to it, but...
26:20He couldn't get it on target.
26:24It's a great delivery.
26:26Just dropping over.
26:28From the post area.
26:30I mean, he has to go and attack it.
26:33Probably a little too close to it.
26:36Too beyond in here, post it comes off his shoulder.
26:44Both sides have had their chances.
26:46None taken this far.
26:47Yeah, but they get that opportunity because it's the ball over the top.
26:51If it's Patrick, OK.
26:53Kearney cuts it out, but having that threat to go in behind
26:56and stretch the game, variation at your plate,
26:59allows you to get control.
27:17Just look at Todd and Kearney narrowing up to stop that ball from...
27:20Yeah, it's very clever, yeah.
27:22They're not actually marking him, they're just stopping the pass getting to him,
27:25for the most part at least.
27:28On the other side of that, you've got Crawford and Stanway that are high and wide
27:32to try and keep that space.
27:34Try and just make sure there's enough space for Smith to go on to it.
27:54It's a big night tonight, it's a massive day tomorrow.
27:57And sports in and off the ball, we'll have it all for you.
28:01Sports in that kicks us off at half past 11 tomorrow on BBC Radio Scotland.
28:10Highlights of all the top six action, including that final day decider for the title.
28:17Tomorrow night and Sunday night at quarter past seven.
28:21The bottom six finishing up on Sunday.
28:26Chalmers has been stopped because there's a head knock,
28:29the home fans aren't happy with Chris Cain down holding his head,
28:33and we know the rules by now.
28:37I don't think Chris Cain tends to be kind to go down lightly.
28:41Nah, I think they've just got the sandwich here.
28:45I don't know that much.
28:47He's actually in it.
28:50Nah, nothing.
28:53Take that back.
28:54Yeah, you're going to have to out.
28:56And look, the referee's got no option.
28:58He probably doesn't see it, I think.
28:59I was expecting Cain to get up.
29:02I imagine the fourth official, one of his assistants,
29:04has told him that Cain's still down holding his head,
29:06but there's not much wrong with him there.
29:10Yeah, well it certainly stopped what was a pretty promising attack for Thistle.
29:16So, in that instance the home fans were right to be disgruntled.
29:38Riley, back to Reading.
29:40There comes Morrison again, and Reading run that out of play.
29:46He says that it's flagged, Reading disagrees,
29:50but Throne will go the visitors way.
30:12Kian McFilly was shoved in the back there as well, but it's just a throw in to Thistle.
30:22Oh, Riley, forward for Samuel, again, good battle with Chilicoa Mullin.
30:28When his pass forward came off,
30:30Thistle clear, and now it breaks for McPherson, out to Chalmers.
30:36Looking to cut back in on that left foot, but Fraser was wise to that.
30:58There's a handball at the end against Chalmers.
31:08The tension around...
31:18I think it's time to trot out that old cliche about the first goal and its importance, James.
31:24I mean, it is in any game, but you can understand as well, you know, the nerves, the tension in
31:31the game.
31:32When you look at...
31:34The work that McFerman are doing off the ball to try and stop Thistle from getting control of the game.
31:41And that would be the frustration for Neil Werning.
31:44They have had up chances early, but I think they've offered much in the last ten minutes or so.
31:52Chalmers trying to help that on.
31:57I would have said that on Tuesday as well, and there was, what, a minute and a half between both
32:01goals.
32:03Yeah.
32:05But we are getting to that point where, you know, that one goal could be all the difference.
32:15Samuel, it's under control, then leaves it to Fitzpatrick.
32:21Reading had made a good run forward there, Fitzpatrick keeps it though.
32:25Then tries to get it in, Chile Cornwall and get a great deal of distance on that.
32:29Stanwy gets it back in, Samuel for Crawford here.
32:34It's always going to be difficult to really get a great deal of power on that, coming away from goal,
32:39but at the target.
32:41It's always difficult to write out. Samuel again just backing in, using his strength.
32:47It's always going to be difficult to generate the power and the accuracy.
32:52Might be some hits from there.
32:59Could be an issue here for Kerala Morrison.
33:05He's certainly going to need some attention.
33:20He won't want to be losing Kerala Morrison on this stage.
33:27He felt that down in the right-back area, Kerala Morrison.
33:31He's tried to go and run it off and clearly a bit of discomfort there for him.
33:58He'll take their time here and try and get Kerala Morrison back on his feet.
34:10Certainly, I wouldn't say they're a natural replacement for him wide right on the bench.
34:17He could bring on the likes of Josh Cooper.
34:20It's going to be a change in dynamic.
34:27He's playing pretty sanguine about the whole thing right now, Neil Lennon.
34:33Potential ball for our midfielder and Andrew Todd out to the wide area.
34:39He's back on and he's going to try and run it off.
34:47Gwena with composure into Gilmore, put the close down by Crawford.
34:54Too much zest in that challenge for the referee's liking.
34:59I mean, it is slightly late, but it just shows you that we're not going to be giving time in
35:05the ball to Ferman.
35:06Particularly in that midfield, I thought Gilmore and Ahmad were excellent.
35:10The game went on, wanting to play forward and take control of the game.
35:15Clearly, that's the intention of Paddy.
35:19This will not let that happen tonight.
35:27Towards one of the throw-in.
35:32I haven't seen too much of him so far.
35:47Matty Todd gets the cross in.
35:49It's going to almost come for Callum Morrison.
35:52It was ready.
35:53A crucial header clear.
35:55Kearney helps into Andrew Todd.
35:57They're going to spin away from O'Reilly.
35:59It's just too high for Kane.
36:00Matty Todd picks up.
36:02Back to Freezer.
36:03Early ball in.
36:05Away by Reading.
36:07Kearney keeps it alive.
36:08It's Morrison now.
36:10Can't find half a yard to get the cross in.
36:13Kearney will instead.
36:14It's a good ball.
36:15Todd being closely marshaled.
36:17Gilmore!
36:19Dunferman in front!
36:20And there is the breakthrough.
36:23That crucial first goal we were talking about.
36:25And it's Charlie Gilmore.
36:27Who lashes it into the back of the net.
36:30To give the visitors the advantage in Burnhill.
36:35Well it's cross after cross for the fairman.
36:38And the quality in the crossing.
36:39From either side.
36:41Excellent.
36:42He managed to keep it alive.
36:44And Gilmore.
36:47This one can't do with Ben McPherson at the back post.
36:50And Gilmore's alert to it.
36:52But it's a lovely cross.
36:53Again, it's a way to pass.
36:55The lay off from Morrison.
36:57Makes Kearney's mind up for him.
36:59And Gilmore down into the ground.
37:01No mistake.
37:01It's a wonderful finish.
37:04It's a wonderful finish.
37:11Well, Neil Lennon savoured that one.
37:14Charlie Gilmore's third goal of the season.
37:16His first since December.
37:17By no means a prolific goal-scoring midfielder.
37:20But he's popped up with what could be a precious one tonight.
37:38Thistle responded quickly at East End.
37:41Can they do so again here?
37:42It's Reading trying to bundle his way through.
37:44Samuel!
37:45Well, they almost did exactly that.
37:47Even quicker this time.
37:48But Tyrell able to gather.
37:51Samuel's shot on the turn.
37:53Yeah, I mean, the angle's not great.
37:55It's a good run from Reading.
37:57Harding his way through it.
38:00And he is going for the cross.
38:03Samuel deflects and takes it into the arms of Tyrell.
38:12I think the message will be clear from there, well,
38:14and don't do what you did on Tuesday night.
38:17Make sure if you get a lead you hold on to that kind of spell.
38:26Samuel hits the deck, no foul though.
38:28From Fairland fans.
38:30A good voice over on the far side from us.
38:38Well, they might be.
38:42Chilling Cotermullin running into trouble in the shape of Robbie Crawford.
38:46He's gone all the way through to Tyrell.
38:51What an end to the season this could be for Dunferman.
38:54Already in the Scottish Cup final.
38:56Having beaten four Premiership teams on the way there.
39:03And now we've taken a step towards the Premiership playoff final.
39:10A potential return to the top flight.
39:13Been away since 2012.
39:19I mean, there's a long way to go.
39:21But, I mean, you have such a sport win.
39:23I feel like we'll get through this.
39:26Three games in succession.
39:28You know, a cup final and playoff finals.
39:31I mean, I hope for playoffs and, you know, try to get in and be competitive.
39:39But, if that's the way they end the season, then fair play to them.
39:45But I'm sure they still have something to say about it.
39:48See the character.
39:50Good team.
39:50Good players.
39:51They've shown many occasions this season.
39:54They've got the character as well.
39:58Good play from Rayling, but then Fitzpatrick is thwarted by Ahmad.
40:01He gets it back from Morrison.
40:03He'll try and switch the play.
40:05He was looking for Todd there, or Matty Todd, but it came to Andrew Todd.
40:11Thistle managed to deal with that.
40:16I guess Dunferman's first target is to at least have this one-goal advantage
40:22going in at half-time.
40:24Without doubt.
40:26You know, learn the lesson from Tuesday night.
40:29When you go in front, protect your lead.
40:31Of course, that doesn't mean sitting back and being more defensive,
40:34but just don't allow openings.
40:39Certainly the players will be aware of that.
40:41Make sure they get in with this lead at half-time.
40:57The first in feet forward, looking for Crawford.
40:59It's well read by Nguena, who makes the throw-in as well.
41:25I think takes a chance and gets away with it,
41:28now tries to flip it over for Fitzpatrick.
41:31should keep this in, fires it into a really dangerous area, Crawford will return it, Ahmad will deal with that
41:40one, Smith in there ahead of Kane, he gets up and fouls Smith again, well Kane, he was fouled in
41:51the first instance and got himself back up and shoved Smith to the ground and this is a free kick
41:58in a pretty decent position.
42:01Yeah, I mean it's a great ball for him, it's Patrick, Sammy just goes ahead of the ball and they
42:08try and keep it alive, I actually thought Smith got the ball first, I can see why, Chris Kane's looking
42:13for the foul, but the recovery was pretty good.
42:24So, talking about 28 yards from goal here, very central area, does O'Shean Smith fancy this? Looks like he does.
42:40He's going to take it on, and that's a good save from Tyrell, a really good hit from O'Shean Smith,
42:47good hit you could save for Tyrell, but needed saving.
42:50Yeah, we know he's capable, looking as he's lining up, Tyrell was from this angle, looked like he was really
42:58close to his far post from here, giving a target for Smith to hit, but he gets right behind it,
43:05Tyrell.
43:10Fitzpatrick switches it up from the corner, Chalmers had come across, but couldn't angle his effort on target.
43:19Yeah, normally see that going in for Ashcroft O'Reilly to go and attack, but clearly one off the training
43:23ground.
43:25I just wonder if he can go with his left foot there, Logan Chalmers.
43:32Which you would think that'd actually be more natural for him.
43:35Yeah, I mean, clearly that's the intention to him to get a shot with his left foot, but because he's
43:39bouncing up, his body's in there, he's maybe just trying to flick it on into an area.
43:46I'm sure it worked better than training.
43:49Inguenia has got to be careful, Tyrell's made a real hash of that, and he's got away with it, as
43:54Inguenia digs him out of a hole before Samuel could bury it.
44:00Here comes Fitzpatrick though, into the area, blocked by Chilicoa Mullen, Thistle looking to get back on terms before the
44:07interval.
44:09Fitzpatrick once more up against Kearney here.
44:12Take another corner, it's been a decent response from Thistle.
44:17Yeah, it has, and Tyrell and Inguenia, just miscommunication, leaving it for each other, Tyrell then takes a huge swipe
44:26at it, but he's there to clear it up.
44:29Just getting each other's way.
44:36There's Patrick, goes this one in, it was just too high for Ashcroft, Inguenia got that one clear.
45:06Clark fires it low, Chilicoa Mullen got his eye on that one, I'm mad.
45:10He's got something on it, and again.
45:16Final pick-up though, here's Robbie Fraser.
45:19Now to Matty Todds, and to Gilmore the goal scorer.
45:26Ahmad, for Kearney.
45:30And Chilicoa Mullen, time to measure his pass forward here, looking for Morrison, on watch by O'Reilly.
45:37It's going to be a thistle throw-in, all for mad.
45:50He came up to the ground there by Smith as he just tried to find a bit of space, and
45:55the referees stopped playing.
45:57What's a word with both of them?
46:14Let's go of chance, they'll do that again, isn't it?
46:19I can't see how much out of ten this game is, and stopping O'Shea Smith, getting on the ball.
46:26A bit frustrating for O'Shea Smith.
46:32Stan Lee takes the responsibility there from the throw-in, down goes Crawford, Chilicoa Mullen penalised.
46:40Thistle funds run about us asking how many.
46:55He wants someone taken again.
47:09It's Patrick not at all happy that the referee pulled that one back.
47:15Says you need to wait for the whistle though.
47:21It's going to be Chalmers then to light this one in.
47:24It's over Ashcroft, it's in Guenia who gets his head to it.
47:30At least I thought it was.
47:32I'm with you, I thought it was in Guenia as well.
47:41The system on the far side, certainly giving the throw in Dunfermline's way.
47:49Still think it was in Guenia.
47:50Yeah.
48:06Hard to thistle, facing at the moment, fifth year of play-off despair.
48:16Still time to turn things round, but...
48:24It's not going their way at the moment for sure, until we enter two minutes of added on time at
48:28the end here.
48:30No, it's not. I've had a couple of chances, very good one from Ben Stan Lee, but not as much
48:35control as certainly they would like or maybe expect.
48:46We've had a lot of the ball that's been in these areas, waiting to try and probe.
48:51We've had some success going over the top.
48:54They've been organised in front of them.
48:57We're looking to match it, just too much of that.
49:01The rain was coming down a few minutes ago and that's probably just made the surface a bit more slippery.
49:09They're all just skidding off of there.
49:10We've got a few points of clear.
49:26Fersin, he's giving that straight to Matty Todd, who tries to find Andrew Todd.
49:32Ashcroft's with him, Dunfermline.
49:35We need something more before half-time, not on this occasion.
49:37Good defending from Ashcroft.
49:40Gwena is then taken out Stan Lee.
49:46He bounces back to his feet.
49:50And the referee brings the first half to an end.
49:54Well, it's been nothing less than gripping once more.
49:57That man, Charlie Gilmore, has had the decisive say thus far,
50:03with the only goal of the game.
50:06Lashing into the back of the net, just over ten minutes left in the first period.
50:11Both sides have had other opportunities, but neither have been able to take them.
50:16Ben Starnley perhaps having the best of those with the head up for Thistle.
50:23But Dunfermline it is, who take the advantage into the changing rooms at the interval.
50:29In this semi-final, second leg.
50:32They lead on aggregate, and they lead on the night.
50:34It's Patrick Thistle 0-0, Dunfermline 1.
