00:00And Donald Trump wrapped up his China visit following a meeting with Xi Jinping at Chonghanai,
00:05with both sides calling the outcome positive.
00:07But analysts consulted by Brazil DeFato said the announced agreements are vague
00:11and structural distrust between the two countries remains intact.
00:15Let's hear a report by our correspondent in Beijing, Maru Ramos.
00:20On the final day of his visit to China, United States President Donald Trump
00:25was received by Chinese President Xi Jinping at Chonghanai.
00:29The central headquarters of the Communist Party of China and the State Council here in Beijing.
00:36Over the course of the two-day visit, the Chinese President delivered a series of messages to the U.S.
00:42government,
00:43including a warning that if the Taiwan question is not handled properly,
00:48the relationship between the two countries could be placed at serious risk.
00:53For the U.S. journalist and political economist Ben Norton,
00:56the visit is unlikely to mark any significant shift in relations between China and the United States.
01:04Trump thought that he could come to China and, you know, compliment President Xi and say all these kind words.
01:10But the reality is that the Chinese leadership understands that you cannot trust the U.S. government.
01:15It violates pretty much every agreement it makes.
01:18And especially Donald Trump as an individual is known throughout his career for lying and deceiving people.
01:25Both Trump and the Chinese government described the visit as positive.
01:30Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guodia Kun said there was consensus on maintaining stability in economic and trade relations.
01:37Professor Shen Yi of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University
01:43argues that Trump's plan A was to arrive in Beijing and announce a major economic win,
01:50but that the U.S. president ended up closer to asking for favors than to dictate in terms.
01:56Why China will help you to give you such kind of favor?
02:01Do you have any cost to exchange for that?
02:05He said that, hmm, maybe I have chips.
02:09I can sell you some advanced chips, but from China's side, the situation has changed.
02:15We really don't have strong interest to this H200.
02:20Because this H200, these chips don't have any technical advantages comparing to Huawei chips we already have.
02:28The U.S. analyst argues that China seeks to manage tensions and coexist peacefully with the United States.
02:34But for him, those goals are incompatible with the long-term objectives of the U.S. states.
02:40The reality is that the U.S. seeks hegemony.
02:42It seeks global, economic, political and military dominance and technological dominance.
02:47And the U.S. is aimed at preventing China from further developing.
