00:24I am in Beijing, where today the President Xi Jinping received Donald Trump at the Great Hall of the People
00:32in a meeting that is part of ongoing efforts to manage difference
00:37and stabilize one of the most complex bilateral relationships in the world.
00:44During the meeting, both leaders confronted the most sensitive issues in the bilateral relationship
00:52with tensions centered on Taiwan, described as the core red line for Beijing
00:59and a matter of strategic confrontations with Washington.
01:05Another key flashpoint was technology, particularly the semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
01:13Now, at the heart of a global race for technological supremacy and national security concerns.
01:22The trade disputes and tariffs remain unresolved, reinforcing the economic rivalry between both superpowers,
01:33where the United States keep applying sanctions on Chinese companies,
01:39a new one just a day before the trip of Trump to China.
01:45The discussions also tortured a broader geopolitical instability,
01:51including rising tensions linked to the war in Iran and in the Middle East,
01:58with potential implications for global energy security and financial markets.
