00:00But the Philadelphia 76ers are busy with their front office.
00:03We're going to start here.
00:04Daryl Morey is out.
00:05And now we had a press conference yesterday.
00:07Let's go to it.
00:08Tuesday was a difficult day for me.
00:10I consider Daryl Morey a friend.
00:13And he did a lot of positive things for our franchise.
00:16We made the playoffs five or six years, including the conference semifinals, four of those seasons.
00:23Obviously, we drafted Tyrese Maxey and Vijay Edgecombe, great players, core players.
00:29And over the next seven years, we have seven first-round draft picks and 12 second-round picks.
00:36I wish Daryl and his family the best.
00:39As we move forward, Bob Myers will oversee basketball and run the process to identify a new day-to-day
00:48leader.
00:49Bob is someone I've known for a long time.
00:51We have a great relationship.
00:53I've had the privilege of working with him over the last few years as president of HBSC Sports.
01:00His credentials speak for themselves, four NBA championships, two NBA Executive of the Year awards.
01:09And he's universally respected across the sports industry.
01:13I very much look forward to Bob, the new day-to-day head of basketball operations, whoever that is, and
01:19Nick Nurse, to be leading our front office and coaching staff next year.
01:26To our fans, I want you to know no one's more frustrated than me that we haven't achieved our goals.
01:33I care deeply for the city and the team.
01:36I acknowledge how disappointing it is that we have not made it past the second round of the playoffs.
01:41We owe it to you and the city to be better.
01:44Thank you deeply for your support.
01:48That's Josh Harris, managing partner to Philadelphia 76ers and also of the New Jersey Devils and also of the Washington
01:54Commanders.
01:54The reason I bring that up is here, if you had an owner of a franchise, let's just say Jeffrey
01:58Lurie,
01:58did you ever see him come up to the podium and have a laundry list that he had to write
02:02down
02:02where he's such good friends with Bob Myers that he has to read the accolades of Bob Myers
02:06as opposed to just ripping him off the top of him?
02:08It's like, yeah, dude was a great GM there at the Golden State.
02:10Four championships here.
02:11He had to read that off of a piece of paper.
02:13That's because he's not invested in this team.
02:15Now, Joe, as we saw that yesterday, which, again, Bob Myers is a good executive,
02:18and that's not a bad pivot point from Daryl Morey.
02:21It's not going to be the general manager, but you know somebody who's running the organization
02:24that has some championship chops and have seen really good teams and how to build them.
02:28That's pretty good.
02:29But right behind that, during that press conference show, quote,
02:33the front office has the green light to go over the luxury tax.
02:36There's no issue with the luxury tax.
02:38They legitimately sold a rookie of the year to duck a tax instead of helping their basketball team
02:44in the playoffs this year.
02:46So if I'm Daryl Morey, I'm like, well, hold on.
02:48You told me I couldn't go out and spend.
02:51Now you fire me because we couldn't achieve, and Bob Myers now is like, hey, man,
02:55open checkbook, let's go.
02:56That doesn't make sense, and that's a flat-out lie.
03:01Well, you're right, Donnie.
03:02Like, which is it?
03:03And why is this guy at the mic speaking for longer than 30 seconds?
03:07That whiny voice just gives me – I'm breaking out in hives here listening to him.
03:13But what is it, Donnie?
03:14Like, if you want to win, then you're fully committed to winning, right?
03:17So – and you're right.
03:19If I'm Daryl Morey, I'm going to be like, wait a minute.
03:21Did I just – you're not correct.
03:22So you're telling me, no problem, open checkbook now.
03:26I could – if you gave me the open checkbook, I could have went and spent too, Donnie.
03:30It would have been a problem.
03:31But you kind of told me I wasn't allowed to do it.
03:33And so, something else going on here, Donnie, with this organization.
03:38Just don't lie.
03:39Just don't – hey, look, there's a lot of my – if you would have came straight out
03:41and goes, you know what, this team, we didn't actually think could win a championship.
03:45We wanted to have fun and compete, but I'm not spending an extra $30 million
03:48on a luxury tax when we can't compete.
03:50I'm like, whoa, you know what?
03:51That's refreshing right there.
03:52But don't come out and lie to the Philadelphia 76ers fans.
03:55They're not going to deal with it because they told you they're not
03:57by selling their tickets in games three and game four at home
04:00to embarrass you as the owner.
04:01But how embarrassed was the owner?
04:02Because money is money.
04:03They made money and so be it.
04:05That's what they're about.
