00:00President Trump, let me say a few words first,
00:04and then I'd like to invite you, Mr. President,
00:08to deliver your opening remarks.
00:13President Trump, I'm very pleased to meet you in Beijing.
00:20Welcome back to China after nine years.
00:31The whole world is watching our meeting.
00:38Currently, transformation not seen in a century
00:41is accelerating across the globe,
00:44and the international situation is fluid and turbulent.
00:48The world has come to a new crossroads.
00:51Can China and the United States overcome the Thucydides trap
00:57and create a new paradigm of major country relations?
01:04Can we meet global challenges together
01:07and provide more stability for the world?
01:14Can we, in the interest of the well-being of our two peoples
01:17and the future of humanity,
01:19build a brighter future together for our bilateral relations?
01:24These are the questions vital to history,
01:28to the world, and to the people.
01:32They are the questions of our times
01:35that you and I need to answer as leaders of major countries.
01:41This year is the 250th anniversary of American independence.
01:47Congratulations to you and to the American people.
01:53I always believe that our two countries
01:56have more common interests than differences.
02:01Success in one is an opportunity for the other,
02:05and a stable bilateral relationship is good for the world.
02:10China and the United States both stand to gain from cooperation
02:14and lose from confrontation.
02:17We should be partners, not rivals.
02:19We should help each other succeed and prosper together,
02:21and find the right way for major countries
02:24to get along well with each other in the new era.
02:28Mr. President, I look forward to our discussions
02:31on major issues important to our two countries and the world,
02:36and working together with you to set the course for
02:41and steer the giant ship of China-U.S. relations,
02:45so as to make 2026 a historic landmark year
02:52that opens up a new chapter in China-U.S. relations.
02:58I will pause here and hand over to you, Mr. President.
03:06President Xi, I want to thank you very much.
03:08First of all, that was an honor like few have ever seen before.
03:15And I think I was particularly impressed by those children.
03:19They were happy.
03:20They were beautiful.
03:22The military is obvious.
03:23It couldn't be better, but those children were amazing,
03:27and they represent so much.
03:28And I know they represent so much to you.
03:31You and I have known each other now for a long time.
03:34In fact, the longest relationship of our two countries
03:38that any president and president has had.
03:42And that's, to me, an honor.
03:45We've had a fantastic relationship.
03:47We've gotten along.
03:48When there were difficulties, we worked it out.
03:50I would call you, and you would call me.
03:52And whenever we had a problem, people don't know,
03:56whenever we had a problem, we worked it out very quickly.
03:59We're going to have a fantastic future together.
04:03Such respect for China, the job you've done.
04:06You're a great leader.
04:08I say it to everybody.
04:08You're a great leader.
04:10Sometimes people don't like me saying it,
04:12but I say it anyway because it's true.
04:14I only say the truth.
04:16And I just want to say, on behalf of all of the great delegation
04:20that we have, we have the greatest businessmen,
04:22the biggest and, I guess, the best in the world.
04:25We have amazing people, and they're all with me.
04:28They, every single one of them, we asked the top 30 in the world.
04:33Every single one of them said yes.
04:35And I didn't want the second or the third in the company.
04:37I wanted only the top.
04:39And they're here today to pay respects to you and to China.
04:43And they look forward to trade and doing business.
04:46And it's going to be totally reciprocal on our behalf.
04:50So I really look very much forward to our discussion.
04:52It's a big discussion.
04:54There are those that say this is maybe the biggest summit ever.
04:57They can never remember anything like it.
04:59It's, I can say, in the United States,
05:01it's people aren't talking about anything else.
05:05But it's an honor to be with you.
05:07It's an honor to be your friend.
05:08And the relationship between China and the USA
05:12is going to be better than ever before.
05:14Thank you very much.
