00:00She was terrified and couldn't stop yelling.
00:03She was firmly stuck between quite large metal railings.
00:06So the dodo asked us how we saved her life.
00:09When we arrived at the scene, our vet, Judith, quickly took hold of the deer and stopped it from injuring
00:15itself further.
00:16She also realised that we were going to need to sedate the deer.
00:19Can you talk about how that helps keep the deer safe in the middle of a rescue?
00:23We really want to avoid using sedatives as much as possible,
00:26but because she was so distressed, we were really left with no alternative.
00:31I hope it does affect quickly.
00:33I don't know how we're going to go the other side, to be honest.
00:36Then we had our other rescuer, Jack, go behind the deer.
00:43Well done.
00:43And together they lifted the deer out.
00:46Almost.
00:46Breathe is back.
00:48One.
00:49It's out.
00:50Managed to wiggle its back legs through the metal gate.
00:58That's the rush.
01:00Our vet, Judith, checked for any nasty wounds.
01:03Yeah.
01:04I mean, there's no fractures.
01:05I don't know.
01:06It's clean.
01:06It's missing hair, but it's clean.
01:09Well done.
01:10The wounding was only superficial, so it was minor scraping and loss of hair.
01:15Right here.
01:16We then picked up the deer, moved it away from the railway, to a less risky area.
01:21Can we use a towel?
01:22Good.
01:24I like that you really watched her to make sure she would wake up and be safe.
01:28We watched that deer for quite a while to make sure that she wasn't feeling any bad responses.
01:32Good morning.
01:35And we were able to watch it, gained its stroke, very slowly, stand up and trot off along the
01:41river and into the bushes.
01:46I can play them Coy.
01:48I can stand up.
01:50Good.
01:50I would love for you.
02:00I can't.
