00:00The horrific death of Michael Mott, the man who stepped in front of a Frontier Airlines plane at
00:05Denver International Airport last week, has been ruled a suicide. I do feel like I need to add a
00:10caveat though. Denver police say they have yet to find any kind of suicide note. Video of the
00:16incident shows the 41-year-old calmly walking across the runway while a jet barrels toward
00:22him at a high speed. There is no way he didn't see it. When the Los Angeles-bound flight struck
00:27Mott, it was traveling at 139 miles an hour. The collision caused a huge explosion and a fire in
00:33one of the engines. Minutes before the incident, Mott had jumped the airport's perimeter fence.
00:38It took him just 15 seconds to climb the structure, which is eight feet high and topped with barbed wire.
00:43Mott was known to authorities with quite a rap sheet, 20 arrests around Colorado since 2002,
00:49including attempted murder in 2005. His most recent arrest was just a month ago for first-degree
00:55trespassing and damaging property and then resisting arrest. It's not clear how he was out on the
01:00street after that one. Denver International CEO Phil Washington said an alarm went off about nine
01:06minutes before Mott was killed. And when the alarm was reviewed by staff, they saw a herd of deer close
01:11to the fence. So they assumed that's what triggered it. They did not initially see Mott.
