00:00Africa needs massive private global capital and should welcome all foreign
00:05investors. That's the view of Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelu, who is at this
00:11week's Africa Forward Summit, co-hosted by France and Kenya.
00:16Africa, we have a young population, over 65% of the population of Africa. They
00:24need jobs, they need improvement access to electricity, they need to join the
00:28internet, in fact the AI bandwagon, we are lacking. So what's important is providing
00:37this enablement, this infrastructure requirement, so that our young ones can
00:42take on. To me, that should be the conversation today.
00:45After protesters disrupted the summit over accusations of French neo-colonialism,
00:52Elumelu said it was time to focus on the future and the opportunities ahead.
00:58It is a good place to be at, as Africans, at this point in time. And that greeting
01:04mentality should go. We should embrace those who want to help us develop Africa. If Russia will help
01:11us develop Africa, improve electricity and mass transportation, let's embrace them.
01:17French President Emmanuel Macron recently chose Elumelu to join the Africa-France
01:22impact coalition aimed at promoting trade between French and African companies.
