00:00Anthony Volpe is back in the big leagues, getting called up on Tuesday by the Yankees
00:04with Jose Caballero, likely headed for the injured list with a right middle finger injury.
00:08He was set to meet with a hand specialist back in New York on Tuesday morning.
00:12It seemed like that did not deliver the news that the Yankees were wanting.
00:17Obviously, if it was just a day-to-day situation, they could kind of get by
00:19with what they had in the roster, but with Volpe coming up,
00:22it sounds like, you know, Caballero is probably headed for the injured list.
00:26We'll see how long that keeps him out for.
00:28But in the meantime, Volpe gets a chance to come back up to the big leagues
00:32after he was optioned last week after his own rehab assignment expired,
00:37coming back from October shoulder surgery.
00:39He's not in the lineup today against Orioles lefty Trevor Rodgers.
00:43Max Schumann is back there, shortstop as he was last night.
00:46But we'll see what kind of an opportunity Volpe gets here to kind of reclaim his starting job
00:50after he had lost it to Caballero, with Caballero playing strong baseball
00:55on both sides of the ball through the first month-plus of the season.
00:58And Yankees had initially planned to reinsert Volpe
01:01as starting shortstop, but the way Caballero played,
01:04they changed those plans now.
01:05There's an injury to Caballero, and so Volpe might get an opportunity here
01:08to show what he can do.
