It's a dreaded move, to be sure, but the burpee is a great total body exercise — it gets your heart racing in just seconds while challenging the muscles in your arms, legs, and core. You can easily modify this move depending on how much of a challenge you want. Make sure you keep your head in line with your spine (don't let it drop), and keep your abs contracted. And, of course, don't forget to breathe!

00:00When's the burp?
00:02It's a grand finale.
00:05This is the burpee. It is probably the most hated, most dreaded exercise of all time.
00:10But it's also one of the most effective full body workouts.
00:16Start with your feet hip-width apart.
00:19Squat down to get your palms on the floor, then walk your legs out into a plank position.
00:23Walk them back in and reach towards the ceiling.
00:31Once you've got this basic move down, add a hop.
00:35Jump towards the ceiling.
00:38Now let's add a push-up.
00:40From the squat position, jump your legs back and lower into a push-up.
00:44Hop your legs back towards your hands and finish with a big jump before repeating the whole move.
00:54And that's the burpee. No actual burping involved.
