An Australian Defence Force Academy cadet has been charged with using a hidden camera to record his female peers in the bathroom. He has been suspended by the ADF as police examine tens of thousands of files.

00:16It was discovered on Saturday, leading police to seize two more devices and more than 40,000 files that must

00:25The court heard Mr Stevens was found hiding in a waste cupboard.
00:30The prosecution described his alleged offending as calculated and premeditated,
00:35and a highly sophisticated operation involving a wireless transmitter and power bank.
00:41Mr Stevens is facing five charges of capturing intimate visual data,
00:47but prosecutors say more charges could be laid as the investigation continues.
00:52The court heard all up 17 soap dispensers had been tampered with, but only one contained a hidden camera.
01:00Mr Stevens has been granted bail with strict conditions, including an order not to leave home unsupervised
01:07or to use any devices capable of capturing images, video or accessing the internet.
01:14He'll now return to Queensland to live with his father.
01:17The cadet has been suspended by the Australian Defence Force.
01:22A defence spokesperson said the organisation's priority is to support those potentially affected,
01:28and additional support resources have been made available to ADFA personnel.
