00:00President Trump rejecting Iran's latest proposal for peace, calling Tehran's response, quote,
00:04totally unacceptable. Bloomberg's Mika Salah joins us now for more. Mika,
00:08welcome to the program. What was unacceptable about the proposal?
00:13Yes, the White House has been very adamant that they want nothing less than essentially a promise
00:19from the Iranian regime that they would, you know, never try and get a nuclear weapon. Again,
00:25this is a claim that the Iranian government has denied, but that is what the administration
00:29has been really hung up on. The president has not elaborated exact details in terms of what he
00:35doesn't like, in particular about this deal. He has sent out a public post. I know this comes on
00:40the heels also with his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, so we're going to see
00:44this come up. We should get a lot more from the White House this week, too, and reaction there.
00:48Mika, to that point, he also hasn't really articulated or communicated what the next steps
00:52would be since this proposal was so-called unacceptable. Do we have any idea of what
00:57the next steps might be? You know, I think that we will see more information come up,
01:04but the White House has been very, very tight-lipped in terms of what the actual plan is here,
01:08and this also comes as they're facing a lot of economic fallback. This is an election year. I know
01:14that the people very close to what the president are very, very concerned about these rising gas prices
01:19that are not going to come down. We may not even see them de-escalate even after the Strait of
01:24Hormuz is
01:25reopened, so they're grappling with a lot here, and we're going to get some answers hopefully this week.
