00:00Bloomberg News now reporting that President Trump has told us that Iran has agreed to
00:05indefinitely suspend its nuclear program and that in exchange the U.S. will not be unfreezing any
00:10Iranian funds. Couple this with a post from President Trump earlier today on True Social
00:15saying that Iran has agreed to turn over its stockpile of already highly enriched uranium.
00:21Now we should say that Iran has not commented or confirmed any of these potential concessions so
00:27far and recent comments from Iran would appear to push back that they were willing to negotiate on
00:32these points but these would be very significant developments in these ongoing diplomatic efforts.
00:38Keep in mind when it comes to Iran's nuclear program we are looking for any details when it comes to
00:43enrichment as well as that enriched stockpile. Now moving forward here it does appear that President
00:49Trump was pushing back on some earlier reporting today from Axios that one of the potential options
00:55the U.S. was considering was in exchange for that stockpile of enriched uranium the U.S. would
01:02unfreeze about 20 billion dollars worth of Iranian assets but according to President Trump telling
01:07Bloomberg News in a phone call that option as of now is not on the table. And talk to us
01:13a little bit
01:13about what we're hearing when it comes to perhaps conflicting reports when it comes to the straight
01:17of foremost because Iran coming out today and saying that the straight is open you saw that cheered by
01:23the administration but then we heard from the semi-official news agency in Iran saying that it
01:27will close the straight again if the U.S. blockade remains in place. So walk us through what the latest
01:33is there. A lot to parse through here Katie you're exactly right President Trump coming out in a post
01:39applauding Iran saying that the Strait of Hormuz was open but we need to pick out from the Iranian
01:44foreign minister's statement that it is only open through a quote coordinated route and then Iranian
01:49state media saying earlier today that any vessels that do transit through ultimately would need to
01:54coordinate with the IRGC. So we'll have to see whether shipping companies are willing to take on
02:00that risk and transit through because President Trump had also indicated that the U.S. was working
02:05to destroy mines which raises questions about how safe that straight may be though of course that is
02:10considered a crucial step to help expand commercial traffic. Now the White House maintains that the U.S.
02:16naval blockade is in full effect and will continue to be in full effect. After yesterday we actually
02:22got an update from the Pentagon that the U.S. was expanding it. It initially of course applied to
02:26all Iranian ports but now Central Command says that that also applies to any ships part of the so-called
02:33dark fleet.
