00:00Well, despite President Trump previously signaling that he didn't want to extend the ceasefire,
00:05he says that this will give Iran more time to submit a new proposal for the U.S. to review.
00:10President Trump saying that part of the reason why the negotiations have collapsed is because
00:16of what he is calling, quote, seriously fractured leadership in Iran. As our own reporting indicates
00:21that top officials for the IRGC are pushing a much tougher negotiating stance compared to,
00:26say, less ideological figures who appear more inclined to make a deal with Washington.
00:31The thing is, what has been consistent among Iranian officials is that they want to see
00:36the U.S. lift its naval blockade before there is a resumption in talks amid new escalation
00:42just this morning. As Anne-Marie just mentioned, Iranian state TV reporting that the IRGC has
00:47seized two ships it accuses of, quote, secretly exiting or trying to exit the Strait of Hormuz
00:54as a U.K. naval liaison reports that Iranian gunboats have been firing at vessels that
01:00are in the Strait. And we can also point to some new data that Iran is now moving super
01:05tankers into the Arabian Sea in a bid to try to push back on the U.S.'s block of its
01:11shipping.
01:12The thing is, John, President Trump has repeatedly said that the blockade is not going anywhere.
01:17And we saw this potential for more escalation in this post from Treasury Secretary Scott
01:21Besant overnight, saying that the U.S. will continue its maximum pressure campaign.
