Two people have tested positive for hantavirus after being evacuated from the luxury MV Hondius cruise ship hit by the deadly outbreak, as Spain prepared on May 11 to evacuate and repatriate the last passengers remaining on the vessel.

A French passenger tested positive for the virus and her condition is deteriorating while US authorities said one of the 17 Americans being repatriated had tested mildly positive for the Andes strain of the virus, while a second had shown mild symptoms.

00:31So
01:22from a checking perspective we'll do obviously welfare checks on each individual they're all in
01:28self-contained flats with phone access etc so we'll maintain sort of welfare checks but obviously
01:35the specialist medical team are on site with them all the time so they'll be doing their assessments
01:41as they go through the next sort of 24 right through 72 hours and then we'll respond to any
01:49sort of issues or anything that might occur whilst they're with us so we've got specialist teams in
01:55the building base at the bottom of the building so obviously when they're transferred they'll be
01:59coming with the UK Health Protection Agency obviously there's nobody being transferred
02:06to us that has been symptomatic in any way so we just need to be absolutely clear that they are
02:14well
02:15over the next sort of few weeks days as the for the incubation of the virus the fact that we
02:23were
02:24the sort of the isolation center for covid for the coronavirus before it was a pandemic that may
02:30trigger some people to feel more anxious about what that might mean but really this is an understood
02:36known virus that can be managed appropriately and so it's very very different and the risk is really
02:51possible for the virus that we have been tested positive in total you know five French were on the boat
02:56dont seven women and 22 people have been identified and contacted and obviously contacted
03:03there is no place to defile the French and the French the most strict measures are
03:09there again it's normal it's what we can expect from the state we follow the situation with the
03:14most great vigilance on the basis of a virus that we know we are absolutely not there we are not
03:19there what counts is to casser this chain of contamination it's to protect the people who are
03:26in contact who have been touched especially the person who has been tested positive to protect their
03:32proches and to protect more large the French and the French but we are not
03:36absolutely not to be projected in this type of scenario
03:48the goal is to have all of the passengers and the crew with the exception of 30 crew members
03:53remaining on board to finish the repatriation tomorrow by 7 pm and then the boat will continue on the
04:00the plan is for another health professional to board the boat we believe it will be a nurse from
04:05from the Netherlands to support the 30 remaining crew who will travel on to the Netherlands which
04:10will take a few more days and then once it docks in the Netherlands there will be a full disinfection
04:15of the boat and so our recommendations for the passengers and the crew who are on board is that
04:21they have active monitoring and follow-up with which means daily health checks either at home or in
04:26this specialized facility we are leaving this up to the countries themselves to actually develop their
04:31own policies but our recommendations are very clear and this is really a cautionary approach to
04:36make sure that we don't have any opportunities for this virus to pass from others
04:57this service is a safe to see on the record and the purpose of the trip to the people i'd
04:57like to
04:57the audience I want to ask you how to use with the crew and the crew I watch the crew
04:57and see you
04:57here in the comments I'm going to ask you what I'm going to ask you and we're going to ask
04:58you
