00:02Do you feel a bit rusty? Yes, very rusty. Definitely need a WD for our day. I need some
00:09help. It's hard out there. I am very single at the moment. I've run out of swipes. I've
00:16completed Tinder. In the heart of Britain's most romantic city, Fred and his team, this is Captain
00:26Fur Potato, are matching hopeful singletons. We're getting married, Merlin. In a place
00:32where love is always on the menu. I've got a bit in your finger. You didn't go that far down
00:37the strip.
00:40These daters, you probably think I'm having a poo or something, are searching for the one.
00:49Would you chase me around the bedroom? Absolutely. Get your coat. I'm in. For some,
00:54stepping into the unknown can lead to surprising sparks. I work in the adult industry. Do you have
01:02an office for that? I have a dungeon. But finding a connection... A love story is about to begin.
01:10Shut up! ...isn't always easy. Please tell me you actually last longer than three minutes.
01:18Help me! In the end, it comes down to one big question. Would you guys like to see each other
01:30again? This isn't a total crit, is it? This is the First Dates Restaurants.
01:52I think that being in a relationship, there has to be some sort of connection, or some sort of thing
01:57to latch on to.
02:00If you're like the most newest you you can possibly be, then I think that's when love is like most
02:05likely to come to you.
02:07For me, any male into fitness is a yes. You've already got that common ground, you've got that interest, you've
02:13got something to talk about.
02:15I would describe myself as like golden retriever energy. It's just finding someone who's similar.
02:20Oh my God! Here he goes!
02:25At 62, hairdresser Liz has mastered the art of the perfect cut. Now she's looking to perfect her love life.
02:35Dated. It's hard work. It's all just through apps. When you say you're 62, you get the 72-year-old.
02:42I'm not ready for a pipe and slippers guy. I can't see you with a pipe and slippers guy.
02:48You are like a glam pussy galore.
02:50What have you got to try?
02:52What's your fantasy man?
02:53Somebody just kind.
02:55Have you been looking for long?
02:56I've been widowed 10 years.
02:58So, yeah, I'm ready to meet.
03:01I've not really gone out and dated because I just live for work, whereas like now I'm living for living.
03:09Good to see you.
03:10Thank you very much.
03:11Enjoy.
03:12Hello.
03:13How are you?
03:13I can see you.
03:15I can see you.
03:17Love your hair.
03:18Oh, thank you.
03:19That's really cool.
03:19Well, I hope so.
03:20I'm a hairdresser.
03:21Yeah?
03:21Why pink?
03:22Well, it makes a boy's wink, apparently.
03:27Brilliant.
03:28I'm not the run of the mill.
03:29People say, you know, you're never going to find anybody.
03:32You're, you know, because you're too hard work.
03:35I'm not hard work at all.
03:36I love being spontaneous.
03:38I just like to enjoy my next chapter now of my life.
03:42Yeah.
03:42Oh, right.
03:42Okay.
03:43I just feel, you know what?
03:44There's got to be love out there.
03:46You know, I had it once.
03:47Can I have it again?
03:48I've got too much love to give to be on my own.
03:54I like a man to be a man on a motorbike.
03:58I think it's that noise.
04:00Oh, my God.
04:01Yeah.
04:05I don't want on my headstone to say he didn't try.
04:08I want to squeeze the juice out of life.
04:12Love is the drug, got a hook on me.
04:15Speeding full throttle towards his date with Liz,
04:18Builder Paul is here to prove that romance doesn't slow down with age.
04:24I don't feel 68 at all.
04:26I want to skid into my grave on the back of my Harley
04:29and have lived every second that I can.
04:35What a distinguished look you've got.
04:38Your date is already here.
04:39She's at the bar.
04:41Right.
04:41I can tell instantly if I fancy somebody.
04:44My eyes meet yours and your eyes meet mine.
04:47I know, bang on, you're the one.
04:52I might need to top up.
04:54Okay, let's go.
04:55Okay.
04:58Hello.
05:00Hello.
05:02What's your name?
05:03Liz.
05:04Sorry.
05:05I'm Paul.
05:06Hi, Daniel.
05:06Lovely to meet you.
05:07And you.
05:09Wow.
05:10Liz.
05:11Yes.
05:12I've got to keep saying it.
05:13I know.
05:14I am absolutely terrible with names.
05:16Are you?
05:16Yeah.
05:16I think once I've had a gin and tonic, I've got my nerves.
05:19Oh, yes.
05:19I think I'm on my second.
05:21Oh, are you?
05:22Yes.
05:23No problem.
05:24Cheers, my love.
05:25Cheers.
05:25Nice to meet you.
05:26And you.
05:27What do you do?
05:28Hairdresser.
05:28Oh, are you?
05:29Yeah.
05:30Yeah.
05:31Very nice.
05:31I can see.
05:32Lovely.
05:33Yeah.
05:34Nice colour.
05:36Can I take you to your table?
05:37You certainly can.
05:38If this young lady's ready, then...
05:39It looks like it.
05:46I just called to say I love you.
05:53I just called to say I love you.
05:56This is Cara.
05:58After taking a break from dating, she's now ready to hip hop into a relationship.
06:04I perform in a duet.
06:06We're a rap duet.
06:10We've got our first paid gig this year.
06:12It's so exciting.
06:14We've been asked if we want a rider, so I've asked for room temperature water.
06:21Your hair looks fabulous.
06:22You don't have to worry.
06:23You don't have to check.
06:24You're gorgeous.
06:26Hold on a second.
06:27Just a little bit more.
06:30Do you do much dating?
06:32Well, not loads.
06:32I can be quite awkward at first.
06:34I mean, we're not on a date, but I don't find you awkward at all.
06:37I'm getting so nervous now.
06:39Why?
06:40I don't know.
06:40I think it's that little bit of fear, isn't it?
06:43It's just like...
06:43Yeah, but it's healthy, no?
06:44Oh, yeah.
06:45Because if it wasn't there, you wouldn't care, would you?
06:48The last relationship that I had was...
06:50I think you call them a situationship.
06:52And I'm way too old to be in one of those.
06:55Hiya.
06:56Hello.
06:57How you doing?
06:58I'm good, thanks.
06:59Would you like a drink?
07:00Could I get a Coke Zero?
07:02Yes.
07:02That would be lovely.
07:07How are you feeling?
07:09Nervous.
07:10Nervous.
07:10Understandable.
07:14My type is someone that is kind, someone thoughtful, creative.
07:21Sing to me, the songs you sing on a...
07:25Kara's date is Dan.
07:27He may sell out gigs with his band, but he's tired of flying solo when it comes to love.
07:34Do you have any groupies?
07:36I don't think 42-year-old single dads get groupies these days.
07:41I'm very intrigued by you, Dan.
07:42Why?
07:43Your walk, the way you dress.
07:45I'm just wondering what kind of person you are.
07:47I like to think I'm quite easy going.
07:49I must have been in a band as well.
07:50Oh, wow.
07:51And you haven't met a nice lady in your travels, or...?
07:55No, not yet, unfortunately.
07:56People don't throw knickers.
07:58No, it doesn't.
07:59It's been a while since I've had a girlfriend, really.
08:03Dating life, to be honest, it's pretty much non-existent.
08:06What I'm hoping that comes from the date is to find someone that you can share the weekends with
08:11and you can be on the phone with for hours on end without even realising you have been.
08:18I think that's the end goal, really.
08:21Hello.
08:22Hiya, are you okay?
08:23Good to see you.
08:24Yeah.
08:24Dan?
08:25Dan, nice to meet you, Dan.
08:27What's your name?
08:27Cara.
08:28Cara.
08:28Nice to meet you.
08:29Yeah, how are you doing?
08:29Very well, yourself?
08:30Yeah, not bad, thank you.
08:32Good, good.
08:32You got a drink?
08:33I have, yeah.
08:34Okay, cool.
08:35I'll take a seat.
08:36Oh, is that your bag?
08:36Sorry.
08:36Yeah, don't worry.
08:38Can I get you a drink, sir?
08:39Could I please get a double vodka tonic?
08:42Double vodka tonic coming up.
08:43Thank you very much.
08:46That's some funky shoes.
08:47Thank you very much.
08:49So, are you nervous, or...?
08:51Um, yeah, I have been quite nervous.
08:54Have you?
08:55No, not really.
08:56It's been okay.
08:57It's been all right.
08:59No?
09:00Can I take you to your table?
09:01Yes, please.
09:02Lovely, thank you.
09:04Did you call each other up this morning to make sure that you were coordinated with the
09:08colour?
09:09At least he's got some funky shoes, though, yeah?
09:13Come with me.
09:17It's that time I've got to bring the glasses out.
09:19Well.
09:20Wow.
09:21I don't have to.
09:22I only do it for reading.
09:24Lovely glasses.
09:25Oh, no!
09:27You are a character of note.
09:30Just a bit subtle, you know?
09:32Yeah.
09:33So, what do you do in your spare time?
09:35I ride a motorbike.
09:36Oh, fabulous.
09:38I bought the Harley six months after my wife passed away.
09:44And she was my...
09:47my soulmate.
09:48Your soulmate, yeah.
09:49We all have one, don't we?
09:51Yeah, we do.
09:51Yeah.
09:53And how long were you married?
09:57Five months.
10:00So, we'd been together five years back in the 90s, until we unfortunately separated.
10:0715 years later, we decided that we were meant to be together.
10:12I'd never experienced a love that I had with her.
10:19And then, we'd only been back together for 12 months.
10:24And she was diagnosed with secondary cancer.
10:28The oncologist said, look, what are your plans?
10:31Straight away, she said, oh, we're getting married.
10:33Bloody hell.
10:34Are we?
10:34Are we?
10:36Oh, that's lovely.
10:37No.
10:38She'd always wanted to get married on sillies.
10:40So, we got married in a beautiful little church, only 50 people.
10:45And then, five months later, she passed away.
10:54And, nine years on, it still hurts.
11:00But I feel, I'm ready to find love again.
11:06But, do you know what?
11:07You had it.
11:07Yeah.
11:08You had...
11:09Do you know what?
11:09Yeah.
11:10That is, we had it.
11:11I had it.
11:12Yeah.
11:12We had the most fantastic relationship.
11:16I'm not looking to replace what I've had.
11:20I'm looking for the new adventure.
11:25The new love.
11:26The next love.
11:27I mean, it tore me in, too.
11:29You know, it's a loser.
11:31Yeah.
11:34Sorry to interrupt.
11:35How's everything going?
11:37They're really good.
11:39We haven't drawn breath yet, so...
11:40Oh, this is good.
11:42Very good.
11:42So, you like your very own sexy captain's bird's eye?
11:45Do you see it?
11:47I never thought of it.
11:48Yeah.
11:49I did.
11:50As soon as I saw him, I thought, oh, la, this is going to work.
11:54I used to like you.
11:57Do you see some fish fingers?
12:00I've ordered fish, probably enough.
12:03You see?
12:04I didn't even know.
12:06Oh, very good.
12:08Oh, good.
12:08I'm glad it's going well.
12:09Listen, have fun, guys.
12:12This room is beaming with love.
12:15I think...
12:16You know what it is.
12:17Talk to me.
12:17Look above us.
12:18Oh, the sun shining.
12:20Yeah.
12:21Oh, so the sun is sprinkling love.
12:23Sprinkling love all over this room.
12:26Making love happen.
12:27Which is actually helping our job a little bit more.
12:31Agreed.
12:33So, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
12:36I'll be 42 in June.
12:37Oh, you're the same age as me.
12:39Not quite there yet.
12:39I'm still 41.
12:41Right, okay.
12:42So...
12:42I don't like being in my 40s.
12:44I hate getting older.
12:45No.
12:46I make noises now when I do my shoes up and stuff.
12:48Getting out of breath in a lift.
12:50That's a new one.
12:51In a lift?
12:52Yeah.
12:52Not even going up the stairs.
12:54I get out and go...
12:56Really digging myself up here, aren't I?
13:07Yeah.
13:07Try it.
13:08Have a straw.
13:09Armaretto.
13:09Thank you very much.
13:10Orange.
13:12Oh, yeah, nice.
13:13Let me try.
13:14Yeah, you're not going to enjoy it.
13:18Yeah, I think you should leave that job to Moulin.
13:21Beautiful.
13:21Start again.
13:22You start again.
13:25So, the goat's cheese salad for you.
13:27Oh, thank you.
13:28And the sea bass for you.
13:30Oh, beautiful.
13:30Thank you very much.
13:31Do another glass of champagne.
13:33Absolutely.
13:34On the way.
13:35Thank you very much.
13:37How long were you married?
13:38We were together 24 years.
13:39Oh, wow.
13:40But we were only married five.
13:42Oh, okay.
13:43We got married at 19 years in.
13:45Oh, right.
13:46I met Neil.
13:47Don't laugh.
13:47I met Neil at one of my divorce parties.
13:50I've only been divorced once.
13:51He was 11 years older than me.
13:53So, we started sort of dating and he went through his rubbish
13:57and I went through mine.
13:59And it just drew us together.
14:01So, you lost your husband?
14:02Within 12 weeks.
14:03Oh.
14:04Diagnosis and passed.
14:06Oh.
14:06What, cancer?
14:07Yeah, sophicus.
14:08Oh.
14:09God, that's quick, isn't it?
14:11Yeah.
14:11Yeah.
14:12We were together up until the last minute, so it was lovely.
14:16I can say that now.
14:18I couldn't know at the time, obviously.
14:20But he passed in my arms, which was beautiful.
14:24He just allowed me to be me.
14:26You know?
14:27It was beautiful.
14:30I don't regret anything.
14:31No.
14:31I don't, you know, life is for living.
14:33Because we are what we are.
14:33Yeah.
14:33And what we've done before makes us who we are now.
14:37Yeah.
14:38It looks like they really are connecting as well.
14:40Yeah.
14:40It's just really nice.
14:42It gives me hope.
14:43Cheers.
14:44Cheers.
14:45Cheers.
14:46Cheers.
14:46Cheers.
14:47First our drinks kiss.
14:48Ding.
14:49Then we kiss.
14:50Ding.
14:54How long have you been single?
14:56Well, I thought it was six years.
15:00Right.
15:00But I got told it was actually eight years.
15:03Oh, wow.
15:04Okay.
15:05So, yeah.
15:05So, it's been a while.
15:06I don't get a chance for you to do much.
15:08You spend all your time going to see the kids and stuff.
15:11Mm-hmm.
15:11So, I've got two boys.
15:14Buddy has just turned ten.
15:16Okay.
15:16Rudy will be eight in May.
15:18Very cool names.
15:19Yeah.
15:20I gave them them names, so they had to sort of go towards being little rock stars, shall
15:24we say.
15:24Are you a secret rock star?
15:26I'm in a band, yeah.
15:27How are you?
15:28What type of music?
15:29Rock and roll sort of music.
15:30Oh, nice.
15:31Okay.
15:31What sort of hobbies are you into?
15:33I'm the other half of a hip-hop duet.
15:36Right.
15:37What are you called?
15:39We're called the Detox Factor.
15:40There is a story behind it.
15:42So, I'm in recovery myself.
15:43I have been for five years recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
15:47Have you always had struggles with it or...?
15:50I guess teenagers, really.
15:55With addiction, most people have some sort of trauma or internal struggle.
16:01I know for me that I did experience trauma when I was young.
16:05So, my mum died when I was 13.
16:11I just couldn't be in my own skin.
16:15I became quite a party girl and I loved going out and all of those things.
16:22When I was 13, 14 and I'm down the park and I'm drinking cider or I'm smoking cannabis,
16:30suddenly my head thinks, well, this is brilliant, this is awesome and I can speak to boys and I can
16:36dance and I can do all of these things that I thought I couldn't do.
16:41Then it just, it just took over and life became a struggle.
16:45Yeah.
16:45I would drink to, it was almost like a self-medication, I suppose.
16:50My drug of choice soon became, what have you got?
16:56Addiction, it's like a full-time job with no holiday and it's the worst job that you can ever, ever,
17:02ever imagine.
17:05It's never about the drug.
17:07It's about how you're feeling inside.
17:10And then there's always that turning point where you think, right, I need to do something about this now.
17:16I didn't want to keep doing this to my family.
17:19They've lost enough.
17:21I remember walking into rehab and the counsellor, she said, you never have to be alone again.
17:30When she said that, it was like, erm, something just shifted.
17:35Because for many, many years, erm, I'd felt like the loneliest, loneliest person in the world.
17:42She did save my life.
17:44You don't mind I'm drinking, do you?
17:46No, no, no, it doesn't bother me, yeah.
17:48No worries, it's all right, just ask.
17:49Thank you for asking, but no.
17:50No, it's all right.
17:52I just want to share my life.
17:54And I want somebody to feel that they can share their life with me.
17:59I've always liked someone that's quite creative.
18:03Er, into music.
18:05Er, funny.
18:08Tall.
18:09Yeah.
18:10I can tick one of them boxes.
18:19Fabulous.
18:20So it's kind of like a dragon fruit.
18:23Pink?
18:23Er, to match you.
18:25Thank you very much.
18:26What's going so far?
18:27Oh, lovely.
18:28Yeah?
18:28Yeah, really nice.
18:29It's a nice, gentle one, isn't it?
18:30Oh, it's lovely.
18:31Yeah.
18:31So you feel there's a little bit of a spark?
18:33Yeah, it's, you know, it's, I'm more of a grower.
18:38OK, you know what you like, right?
18:39Yes.
18:39You know what you want.
18:40I know.
18:40Yeah.
18:42Captain Bergeron.
18:51Here to be schooled on the art of love is 19-year-old first-year law student, Rune.
18:59How did you find Freshers' Week?
19:01Freshers' Week was a learning experience about alcohol consumption, about tolerances.
19:10I fell into a ditch when I was on my way to Tesco.
19:14I just kept thinking, I'm not drunk, I'm not drunk, I'm just disabled.
19:18And then my friend just looked at me and was like, I think you are drunk.
19:23Baby, I don't need a dollar bill to have fun tonight.
19:27Nice to meet you, Rune.
19:29Are you excited to be here?
19:30Yeah.
19:31Are you ready to come to your table?
19:32Yeah, that'd be nice.
19:32Come with me.
19:37Thank you so much.
19:38Perfect.
19:38Cheers.
19:39Have you had many first dates before?
19:41This is kind of my first official first date, which is kind of daunting, but yeah.
19:46I wasn't that confident in my own skin.
19:48When I was like 15, 16, that kind of shifted.
19:51I realised I was non-binary, and that kind of made me more comfortable in my own body.
19:58How are you feeling?
19:59I'm good, a bit nervous, but excited.
20:01Did I see a gift down there?
20:03Yeah, it's just a box of chocolates.
20:04That is so nice, though.
20:06Yeah.
20:07So what are you looking for today?
20:09I don't know, like, I guess I'll start with, like, a good conversation.
20:13Yes.
20:13If there's a connection, if they're funny.
20:15If they think I'm funny, like, or something like that.
20:19So you know what you want, then?
20:20That's good.
20:21You're clear.
20:21Yeah.
20:22I don't have, like, a type.
20:24I think it's more about, like, them being, like, light-hearted.
20:30Aiming to hit the jackpot on her first spin on the dating wheel is 19-year-old Caitlin.
20:38I feel really grown up today.
20:40Me just going on the train by myself.
20:43I don't feel like a 16-year-old child anymore.
20:47I've never had an in-person proper date.
20:51This is something new.
20:52It's a really big thing for me.
20:54How are you?
20:55Nervous, slightly.
20:57Well, you might be nervous, but you're coming prepared.
20:59I know.
20:59Wow, where did you get this from?
21:01Lots of expenses.
21:02It looks nice.
21:03I'll probably stumble with my words, because when I'm nervous, I stumble on my words.
21:07Oh, what's there?
21:08A little locket.
21:10It's empty, though.
21:11Is it empty?
21:12Yeah, it needs filling.
21:14I want to put someone special in there.
21:16I'm like, yeah, that's what I'm missing.
21:18That one person.
21:20Are you ready?
21:21Mm-hmm.
21:21Please.
21:23Because I haven't had much dating experience, I don't think I have a preference.
21:29I just want someone who is themself.
21:33Hi.
21:33Hello.
21:35Nice to meet you.
21:36I brought you some flowers.
21:37Oh, thank you.
21:38That's so sweet.
21:39I brought this box of chocolate.
21:42I can get a bag.
21:43So it's just for you.
21:44Yeah.
21:49I have a table.
21:51They are on their first first date.
21:54Like ever.
21:55Ever.
21:57Do you remember your first date?
21:59I do remember my first date.
22:00I think it's the first time I ever had tortellini.
22:02Oh my God.
22:04Were you like, I don't know how to say it.
22:07Tortellini?
22:07Tortellini?
22:08Tortellini?
22:08Tortellini?
22:09Tortellini?
22:09What's in it?
22:11Tortellini?
22:12Tortellini?
22:12Tortellini?
22:15Tortellini?
22:16I don't know, maybe a side.
22:18To be fair, I had, like, a fried breakfast this morning, so...
22:20That's completely fair.
22:21Do you like everything on a fried breakfast, or are you picky?
22:24I like scrambled egg.
22:25Yeah. Yeah, I hate beans.
22:27Same. Hate those.
22:28I like sausages.
22:29Yeah.
22:30Which is funny, kind of gay.
22:35Did he pay?
22:36We split it.
22:38And he kissed me goodnight.
22:40And then we started dating after that.
22:43Wow.
22:44Lucky you.
22:46We've let that go, Cole.
22:48It's your fault. You've been talking to me.
22:52For me, life is good, you know, and I'm sure it is for you as well.
22:58Yeah.
22:58I don't need that person I would like.
23:03That's the difference.
23:05Hello.
23:06Hello.
23:08Thanks to seeing you.
23:09Thank you very much. Will this be one payment altogether?
23:13Yes, please.
23:14Perfect. Thank you.
23:15You're very kind. Thank you very much.
23:17My pleasure.
23:20OK.
23:21I'm good.
23:22Yes.
23:25Do you want to see each other again romantically?
23:28So, to see each other romantically, I think, as friends, to start with, I think is a great
23:36way.
23:37Good place to start.
23:38Good place to start.
23:39Yes.
23:39Definitely.
23:40And I would agree.
23:42Oh, dear.
23:44We definitely had a connection.
23:45Oh, definitely.
23:46I think, because we've both been through loss, we're in the same club together.
23:50Yeah.
23:51Oh, that was lovely.
23:52That was lovely.
23:53Where would you make Spain be?
23:56Oh, on his bike.
23:58Yes.
24:00On the back of his bike.
24:01Oh.
24:02Oh.
24:02Are you up for that?
24:03Bloody hell, I am.
24:04Are you?
24:05Yeah, I love Harley's.
24:06That's cool.
24:07I love motorbikes.
24:10Oh, fantastic.
24:11Absolutely.
24:12Yeah, well...
24:12Yeah, I'll be on the back of your chopper.
24:14You can get on the back of my chopper.
24:18Well, we can check that box.
24:23Oh, thank you.
24:26Oh, amazing.
24:27Could I please get another double vodka tonic?
24:29Of course you can.
24:31Would you like another Coke?
24:32Oh, just some sparkling.
24:33Just some sparkling, yeah.
24:34Yeah, thank you.
24:35Did I hear that you're a rapper?
24:36No, I'm not.
24:38Just some sparkling.
24:40Absolutely not.
24:41I'm gangster, yes, but no.
24:43I perform in a rap group.
24:46But you're not a rapper.
24:48He raps.
24:49Oh, OK.
24:50Think Ndubs and Talisa.
24:52Yeah.
24:52But in their 40s.
24:55Oh, my God, I really want to hear it.
24:56Can you do so?
24:59Absolutely not.
25:00That was a flat no.
25:01I'll grab your treats.
25:05I'm definitely coming to the gig.
25:07We do a few.
25:10So, the type of music that you wrote, you said that it was...
25:13It's many rock and roll.
25:14There are a few ballads on there.
25:16So, do boys play as well?
25:18No, I've never forced it on them.
25:19So, Buddy, he's got a full electric guitar set up.
25:22Buddy just hasn't really wanted to do it.
25:24He's more into his mates and computers and stuff now.
25:27But like I say, I'm not going to force it on them.
25:29You've got to do it.
25:30I mean, I didn't start till I was 13, 14, I think.
25:33Yeah, OK.
25:34So, it's cool like that.
25:35Yeah.
25:35Yeah.
25:36Yeah.
25:37But the kids have always been the one.
25:38When are you going to meet someone?
25:40If you wanted to meet someone, why haven't you met anyone?
25:43Aww.
25:43I'm like, right, Kay.
25:44I said, I'm trying.
25:45Do they not check people out for you?
25:47Here's my Tinder account.
25:48Go crazy.
25:50Yeah.
25:51That's good.
25:51Imagine.
25:52I was meant to have had them this weekend.
25:54Oh, no.
25:55So, ditched your kids.
25:56Ditched the kids.
25:57Oh, no.
25:58Said she kicked to the curb, boys.
26:00Yeah, you're done.
26:09Do either of you have any party tricks?
26:15I can do a pig noise.
26:17Please.
26:18It's really random.
26:19It's so random.
26:21Please.
26:21I can do one.
26:22Let me.
26:23OK, OK.
26:28It's pretty good.
26:29Yeah, I know.
26:30Sorry, again.
26:40Kyle, question for you, my friend.
26:42Things that are romantic.
26:44Candles are romantic, can't they?
26:45Candles are romantic.
26:46Chocolates.
26:47Of course.
26:47A heart is romantic.
26:48Hearts.
26:48What else?
26:49And, oh, yeah, flowers.
26:51It's got to be flowers.
26:52Oh, my.
26:53Wow.
26:54That was sick.
27:00Hello?
27:01What's happening, bud?
27:02I'm just on the old date.
27:04I'm in the toilet.
27:05Oh, how's it going?
27:06Yeah, good.
27:07She's really sound.
27:08Getting on, laughing, joking.
27:10So, we will see.
27:12But, yeah, right, I better get back.
27:13She'll probably think I've jumped out the window.
27:21I've never had tofu before, so that's low-key scaring me.
27:25Shall we try it together?
27:26Yeah.
27:26Yeah.
27:27OK.
27:29We'll do a little cheers.
27:31OK.
27:32OK, cheers.
27:35OK, it's not too bad.
27:37It's like a weird chicken.
27:40What did we think of the amuse-bouche?
27:44Is that great?
27:45A bit spicy, was it?
27:47Yeah, just a little bit.
27:48Can I take your order?
27:49Can I have the Korean fried chicken?
27:52Yeah.
27:52Could I please have a really weird combination of the gabbage pill pill
27:55and onion rings?
27:57Love that.
27:58Of course you can.
27:58Thank you very much.
28:00I think this place is too fancy for me.
28:02I don't even want to, like...
28:03No, I'm used to, like, going to Wetherspoons or something.
28:06Yeah.
28:06So, where are you from?
28:08I'm from Kent.
28:09Oh, cool.
28:10So, I'm from London originally, but I go to uni in Bournemouth.
28:14Oh, nice.
28:15Don't want to be rude.
28:15Are you in a wheelchair?
28:16Yeah.
28:17OK, I didn't see it.
28:17Quality.
28:19I was so nervous, but, like, the person wouldn't know.
28:23People have a misconception that disabled people only ever want to date,
28:28like, other disabled people, which is very wrong.
28:34I didn't go seeking someone with, like, the same disability as me
28:38or someone who's disabled, because it's, like,
28:40my disability doesn't affect my personality at all.
28:44May I ask what is your medical...?
28:46So, I have cerebral palsy.
28:48Oh, OK.
28:48OK.
28:48Yeah, it just means, like, moving on my muscles, walking can be difficult.
28:54Yeah.
28:54And so I use a wheelchair so I don't fall over.
28:56OK.
28:57No, that's fair enough.
28:59I'm at a point where I'm looking for someone to be with,
29:02and, like, I've got the confidence to do it as well
29:04that I think I didn't have when I was a teenager.
29:08So, what kind of relationship are you looking for?
29:11Long-term, definitely, like, a partner.
29:15Yeah, same.
29:15And, like, yeah, I see everyone, like, around with, like,
29:18their girlfriend, boyfriend, significant other.
29:20Yeah.
29:20I'm like, I kind of want that.
29:21Yeah.
29:22Like, that's so cute.
29:23Yeah, like, my best friend, she has a boyfriend,
29:25and they're so lovey-dovey.
29:27I'm like, I love that so much for you.
29:30Yeah.
29:30I want it.
29:30Yeah, me too.
29:32I'm like, please.
29:35Thank you, chefs.
29:38I couldn't sit and watch an Oasis gig anymore.
29:40No.
29:41I think it's just because I'm still a blur.
29:43Right.
29:44You won't like my tattoo, then, either.
29:46Oh, is it an Oasis tattoo?
29:48Oh, no!
29:49I mean, I don't hate them, are you?
29:52Have you had a nice time?
29:53Yeah, lovely.
29:55You?
29:55Yeah, yeah.
29:56Good.
29:57I've enjoyed it.
29:59Oh, brilliant.
30:01Have you had a nice time?
30:03Great time.
30:04Yeah.
30:06I think it went really well.
30:09We really got on, got a lot of things in common.
30:11You know, looks-wise, she's beautiful.
30:13Do I think Kyra's girlfriend in the serial?
30:15Yes.
30:16Well, I did enjoy that.
30:19Sometimes you just need to do something a bit different, don't you?
30:22I agree.
30:26Would you guys like to see each other again?
30:29Ladies first.
30:33Er...
30:33Not romantically.
30:37Right, shall we go?
30:39Yeah.
30:42I just didn't feel the romance.
30:45No, no, that's completely understandable.
30:47So, I don't...
30:48That's fine.
30:48You probably, I don't know if you felt the same.
30:51Yeah, felt the same.
30:52Yeah.
30:54There's no need for you to say you're sorry.
30:58I've got to watch my shoes in this weather.
31:01Well...
31:01Safe to say they are battered.
31:04Personally, I thought it went great.
31:06It's a great company.
31:07We laughed a lot.
31:08Yeah.
31:10Erm...
31:10Yeah, it was...
31:11Couldn't have asked me any better from my end, really.
31:15Take care.
31:16See you soon.
31:17Bye.
31:17Bye.
31:18Bye.
31:19Maybe listen to a bit more blur.
31:21Bye.
31:23Definitely not.
31:26Goodbye.
31:29I'm going home.
31:36Oh my god, I'm so nervous.
31:41Weighed down by her single status,
31:44bodybuilder Eloise is hoping tonight's date will lift her spirits.
31:49So I've been bodybuilding competitively for the past 12 months.
31:53It just makes you feel so good and so worthwhile.
32:00How are you? I'm good, thank you.
32:02Lovely to meet you, Eloise. And you.
32:04Are you feeling today? I'm excited. Are you? I'm excited, yeah.
32:07Shall I take your course? Yes, please.
32:10Have you been doing much dating?
32:13Off and on for a long time.
32:16Well, you've got quite the guns.
32:18I don't know what I'm doing in the dating world.
32:21But, yeah, at 32, I'm like, come on, I've got this.
32:26First things first, what can I get you to drink?
32:28A glass of Prosecco. Yes.
32:30I seem to be weirdly drawn to bold men with, like, a bit of a beard.
32:33Someone who's strong, nice eyes, nice smile.
32:38Strong enough to throw me around, a bit soft enough to cuddle.
32:43Also from Exeter is amateur weightlifter, Jack.
32:48When it comes to weightlifting, I'm not a ripped bodybuilder.
32:51I'm one of those people who absolutely loves, like, a coffee and a nice pastry and a bit of a
32:54yak.
32:58How are you?
32:59Doing good, thank you. How about you?
33:01Very good, thank you very much. Nice to meet you, Jack.
33:03Nice to meet you. So, I am so excited.
33:05Are you?
33:05Yeah, yeah, I am absolutely buzzing. I am so ready to go.
33:10I have a lot of energy, probably a bit too bouncy.
33:14I would like to meet someone who has that same energy as me, who's almost spontaneous.
33:18Do you like a strong woman?
33:19I do.
33:20She's at the bar.
33:21Oh, brilliant.
33:22Come with me.
33:23Physically, I like someone who just, like, looks really healthy.
33:27I just want somebody who's passionate about something and is willing to share it with me.
33:31Here we are. Enjoy.
33:32Hello, hello, lovely to meet you.
33:33Hello, Andrew.
33:34If I had, why not?
33:36What's your name, sorry?
33:36Eloise, what's your name?
33:38Eloise.
33:38My name's Jack.
33:38Jack.
33:39So, have you been to Bath before?
33:41I have been to Bath before, I'm not that far away, so I live in Exeter.
33:45So, I live in Exeter as well.
33:47No way.
33:47Yeah.
33:50Are you for real?
33:51No, I actually live in Exeter.
33:53Would you like a drink?
33:54I would love a drink.
33:55What would you like?
33:55Can I have an espresso martini, please?
33:57Yes, you can.
33:57Perfect, thank you.
33:58Sorry, can I just get your name again?
34:01Eloise.
34:02Eloise.
34:02Or L, if it, or else.
34:04Yeah.
34:04That's one thing you don't want to get wrong.
34:05What's your hobby, then?
34:06What do you do?
34:07So, like, my main go-to is weightlifting.
34:11Nice.
34:11Hoping to go into, like, powerlifting.
34:14Awesome.
34:14In the future.
34:15Yeah.
34:15But at the moment, I'm just sort of settling into a new job and figuring all that out.
34:20What do you do?
34:20I'm a life coach for 16 to 25-year-olds in supported living.
34:24That's awesome.
34:25I bet that is so rewarding.
34:26Oh, 100%.
34:27What do you do?
34:29I work in social housing.
34:32I'm a contracts manager.
34:34Wait, really?
34:35Yeah.
34:36Because I technically work for a social housing company.
34:40Fuck off.
34:43I would not be surprised if we both work for the same company.
34:45We're just on two different sides.
34:47Probably.
34:47How are you feeling?
34:49I'm feeling really good, actually.
34:50Yeah?
34:50If I'm giving too much, like, Golden Retriever or anything like that, just be like, stop.
34:54Um, yeah.
34:56Can you do a good day?
34:56Can you do a good day?
34:57No, no, no.
34:58Cheers.
34:58Enjoy.
34:59You too.
35:03Whatcha makin'?
35:04Oh, a little non-alcoholic passion fruit Ramos.
35:07Okay.
35:08Suspended scores.
35:11The magic.
35:14Is there anything you like doing, like, hobbies or anything?
35:17I have a gay gnome collection.
35:19Oh, my God.
35:20I love that.
35:21I love to buy weird shit.
35:23Are they, like, small?
35:25Yeah.
35:25They were an expensive purchase.
35:28They were, like, 30 quid per gay gnome.
35:30Oh, my gosh.
35:31I've seen gay gnomes in, like, Asda.
35:33That's where I found them.
35:34You know, you want yourself a gay gnome.
35:36There you go.
35:37Place to be.
35:40So, how long have you been, like, are you out?
35:43I mean, I assume you're out.
35:45Yeah.
35:46Yeah, so I struggled with trying to find my sexuality.
35:50And I always just said I was pan.
35:52Yeah.
35:52I was like, yep, that'll do.
35:54And then I was like, oh, actually, I think I like women more.
35:58And I think I like, basically, not men.
36:00Yeah.
36:01I always swiped on men, so to say.
36:05Well, boys at that point, really.
36:08And it was always, I sort of forced myself into it.
36:13I was like, I don't like them, but I want somebody kind of thing.
36:17And then when I had my first crush on a woman, I was like,
36:21I like her interests and I like that she's a woman.
36:24So why is this different?
36:25And it really, it really, like, made me question.
36:28But it made me realise that I'm a lesbian, so...
36:31I was in a, like, relationship with a woman abroad.
36:36Of course.
36:36We FaceTimed, so I knew she was real.
36:38I didn't know she, I knew she wasn't fake.
36:40And we were talking, it was really lovely.
36:42And then she stopped talking to me.
36:44I was like, excuse me.
36:45Just ghosted you.
36:46What the fuck?
36:46Yeah, I was like, excuse me.
36:48And it turns out she had a boyfriend.
36:49So I was like, am I your little side hustle or something?
36:54Online-wise, I sort of just gave up after that.
36:56So I was like, who can I trust?
36:58Erm, so, yeah, I think in person is definitely the way
37:02I want to go from now, to be honest.
37:05What do you like, erm...
37:07Watching, like, TV-wise.
37:10I'm sorry, you've got food in your mouth.
37:13I'm so sorry.
37:17Sorry, I'm so awkward.
37:18It's OK.
37:20I've been so worried about, like, eating cordially, like,
37:23finger up and, like...
37:24If you want to use your hands, go for it, honestly.
37:27Thank you for the...
37:28..the green flag.
37:34I'm getting this, by the way.
37:36You don't know?
37:37We'll have that conversation later.
37:42Thank you, that's very kind.
37:45Are you an eater?
37:46I'm a massive eater.
37:47I'm eating a lot at the moment.
37:49I do bodybuilding.
37:52Oh, wait, really?
37:52Yeah.
37:53That is actually sick.
37:55Erm...
37:55Last year was my first ever year, competitively.
37:58I had three shows.
38:00Well, I got two seconds in the first three I did.
38:03That's amazing, though.
38:04You're allowed to flex.
38:05You know what I mean?
38:06Like, people are like, oh, I got second, it's nothing.
38:08Like, honestly, you're like...
38:09Just be like, yeah, I got second.
38:11I'm crushing it.
38:14OK.
38:15Amazing, thank you.
38:17We've got the rare Caroline steak for you.
38:18Thank you very much.
38:20So, I really like that you've got really good manners.
38:23But...
38:23Of course.
38:24Like, I hate rude people.
38:27So, what is your future, then?
38:29What do you want in the future?
38:31I just want to meet the right person, where they both enjoy each other's company
38:34and everything else is a bonus.
38:35How about you?
38:38Erm...
38:38For me, as much as I'm very independent, I want to do things with other people now.
38:44I want to share experiences with someone else.
38:47I've always struggled to let the opposite sex in.
38:52So, when I was younger, in my late teens, early 20s, I was seeing someone who, unfortunately, lied an awful
38:59lot.
38:59They were very controlling.
39:01So, I've not really had a proper long-term relationship before.
39:05OK.
39:06I've kind of been on my own little journey in self-development, and I've learnt that I'm very self-aware.
39:12I'd get very close to male people, but would always put them in a friend-zone situation.
39:18Or I would just have lots of sex with lots of people to make myself feel better.
39:23When actually, it was just making myself worse.
39:26I don't know how to be in a long-term relationship.
39:30It scares me slightly, but I don't want to go through life and it'd just be me.
39:37Would you say you would like a listener?
39:39Yeah.
39:39Yeah.
39:40With my friends, I have a general rule.
39:42When we sit down, we're like, OK, do you want to chat?
39:44OK, sure.
39:45Do you want to rant?
39:46Or do you want advice?
39:47That's it, yes.
39:47Because there's nothing worse, is there, when you go and someone goes,
39:49Yeah, but you could try it.
39:50I don't want to try that.
39:51Yeah, I just need to get this off.
39:52Let me be annoying.
39:53I'm glad we meet on the middle on that, though, because a lot of people don't.
39:56Yeah.
39:57A lot of people like to sort of one-up someone.
39:59And the thing is, is I'm not a winner, but I never lose.
40:02So...
40:09Uh, Jamie.
40:10Yes, please, Fred.
40:11Can you go upstairs and a delivery of wine?
40:13Can you go and help Merlin, please?
40:15Absolutely. Thank you.
40:18So, what about you, apart from the gym?
40:20So, I'm a massive nerd.
40:21I used to compete playing video games.
40:23Oh, my God. Online.
40:24But you can compete doing it?
40:25Yeah.
40:25Yeah.
40:26So, jobs you could get at that, actually, you know, working in like a clothes shop, fast food,
40:30it'd be like three, four pound an hour.
40:31Yeah.
40:32But I was just like, if I can play this and make more money, I'll just do that.
40:35Yeah.
40:35So, that was sort of my, um, because I grew up a disabled parent, that was sort of my getaway
40:39to go to uni and start living my life.
40:41Life for me growing up was pretty tough.
40:44My mum has multiple sclerosis.
40:47She isn't really mobile.
40:48She isn't really mobile.
40:49I felt like I had to grow up extremely quick and just learn about myself.
40:54Is it just you and your mum?
40:55So, it's me, my mum and my sister.
40:57And my sister basically did all the heavy lifting when I was younger.
41:00And then now I've stepped in a bit more, if that makes sense.
41:03I think the biggest emotion was actually loneliness.
41:07You weren't able to go to like after school activities because, you know, we didn't have
41:10the spare money.
41:11So, I would invest my time just in an escape, which at the time was video games.
41:18I love my mum to bits.
41:20Like, she's my biggest supporter.
41:22And even though she can't come out and do things, she still is always there for me.
41:28She'll always text me.
41:29She'll always call me.
41:30What kind of person would your mum like to be with?
41:34My mum would just want someone who's just kind.
41:37So, have you been in, like, long-term relationships before and stuff like that?
41:41So, my longest was three years, but that was when I went to university.
41:44OK.
41:45Which are non-negotiables within the whole dating world?
41:49Be kind.
41:50Yeah.
41:51I think that's the biggest one.
41:52Yeah.
41:52Be respectful.
41:54Yeah.
41:54And be direct.
41:55Yeah.
41:57Your dress is absolutely lovely, by the way.
42:00Oh, thank you very much.
42:02Very kind.
42:04Oh, doesn't your hair look wonderful today?
42:07Oh, they're cute.
42:08That's very nice of you to say.
42:11Yeah.
42:12It's been good.
42:13I'm full up now, so...
42:14It was definitely a really good, chill first day.
42:18I felt so calm, which is quite shocking, actually.
42:21I've been stressing.
42:23Yeah.
42:23Stop it.
42:24Don't worry.
42:24I'm with you.
42:26It was really nice to experience a first, like, proper sit-down dinner day to sort of tick
42:31that on my bucket list.
42:33I just have to drop the bill for you, OK?
42:37Happy to split, by the way.
42:38Yeah, yeah, me too.
42:42Would you like to see each other again?
42:44Do you want to go first?
42:45No, you go first.
42:46OK.
42:46Um, maybe as friends, I think.
42:49Yeah, that's OK.
42:49That would be good.
42:51Come on, then.
42:52Sorry, I hope that doesn't drip onto you.
42:54I've definitely learned dating.
42:57It's not actually that scary.
42:58Yeah.
42:58Once you're in it, you're having a lovely conversation with someone really lovely.
43:02Yeah.
43:03I love your shoes, by the way.
43:04Thank you so much.
43:05I got them like you, though.
43:07I learned that dating wasn't that scary.
43:12I think I'm definitely going to start dating properly now.
43:15Yeah.
43:15Like, trying to meet other people and stuff like that.
43:18Yeah.
43:18Get back into the dating game.
43:19Yeah, definitely.
43:20Maybe we can help each other.
43:21Yeah, give each other advice.
43:26I want to do that thing where it's like feeding you a strawberry.
43:29Do you not feed me a strawberry?
43:30That's a no.
43:34So, what are you doing now?
43:35Are you bulking or are you just maintenance?
43:38So, at the moment, I'm just doing maintenance whilst I settle into the new 5x5.
43:41Yeah.
43:42And then, once I'm more settled, I think I will cut just a little bit.
43:47Mm-hm.
43:48I'm glad you're just as, like, geeky as me.
43:50Yeah.
43:52It completely shocked me how much we have in common.
43:55We're just geeking out, aren't we?
44:00In Devon, trying to date, it's like trying to find water in a desert.
44:04I found this whole spring.
44:05I am absolutely set.
44:06I am sold.
44:07Have we decided what we're going to do with the bill?
44:09Yeah, I'm grabbing it.
44:10Great.
44:11Thank you very, very much.
44:14Hello.
44:15Long time no see.
44:16Do I?
44:16Yeah.
44:19Let's do it.
44:21Yeah.
44:27So, would you like to see each other again?
44:32Yeah.
44:32Do you want me to go first?
44:33Yeah, I do, yeah.
44:34Okay.
44:34I would really like to see you again, but don't feel bad if you go to disagree, but I felt
44:39like we had a really, really good conversation and I just want to learn more about you.
44:43Yeah.
44:43No, I would like to see you as well.
44:45Again.
44:50Yay!
44:53After you.
44:57What I liked about you, Jack, was how confident and secure you are.
45:02You're really into a lot of things that I'm into.
45:05Like, by the sounds of things, you've got good core values, which I really like in someone.
45:10So, yeah, I know it.
45:11That's really sweet.
45:13Yeah.
45:14As soon as I sat down on the bar, you're so welcoming.
45:16Yeah.
45:16Like, straight away.
45:17Yeah.
45:18Like, no friction, no problems, nothing.
45:20Like, I'm really optimistic for the next day.
45:23Perfect.
45:23Oh, that's so sweet.
