Ever wanted to play those soulful, pedal-steel-like B-Bender licks but don't have the special equipment? Blackberry Smoke's frontman, Charlie Starr, shows you a clever technique using just your fingers to get the same effect.

00:00We have a song called Sleeping Dogs where I didn't have a B-bender at the time.
00:07Or maybe I did, but I didn't use it.
00:11And I utilized this lick in a little
00:13A little turnaround in the middle of that song, which is like a D major, E7, G7, D.
00:23But I went
00:30And I came up and did it with the G-string because you've got more room to bend, because in
00:34that lick, in that particular lick, you have to bend downward.
00:40So you basically fret the, it's a double stop of the 12th fret of the A-string with your ring
00:46finger, 12th fret of the D-string with your pinky.
00:48Stretch your index finger down to the 9th fret.
00:55And bend up a whole step like the B-bender would.
01:02And bend up a whole step like the B-bender would.
