00:01We have arrived to our first elimination game of this NLCS.
00:05The Dodgers up three games to none on the Milwaukee Brewers.
00:10Well, the Dodgers have been roaring through this postseason.
00:14They are 8-1 now, and they're going with Shohei Otani tonight.
00:17Ronnie, the blue wave continues.
00:19It is a first, though.
00:20Shohei Otani making his first ever postseason start at Dodger Stadium.
00:25As for the Brewers, this is a team made up of a bunch of second chancers
00:29and overachievers, self-titled.
00:31But this is a team that rode that mantra to the best record in baseball this year,
00:36a team that has thrived on being counted out.
00:40The Dodgers have completely stifled the Brewer bats.
00:43Christian Jelic said it's about the little goals at this point.
00:46Getting back to Milwaukee for a game six is a goal.
00:49Win the at-bat and win one in a row is today's goal.
00:53He picks in game one on the road in the division series against the Philadelphia Phillies,
00:58but this is his first postseason start at Dodger Stadium.
01:02You see the numbers during the regular year.
01:0514 starts.
01:06He hit 55 home runs.
01:09Simply no one like him in Major League Baseball.
01:12Bryce Terang strides the plate.
01:15Looking to get his postseason off the mat.
01:18He's just four for 32 this postseason.
01:22And he issues a walk to start the ballgame.
01:24The speedy Terang is aboard.
01:25Good start for the offense.
01:27Good to see Jackson Churio in the lineup again today.
01:29Remember when he left the ballgame yesterday in the seventh mid-at-bat,
01:34it did not look good for that right hamstring.
01:37Churio strikes out.
01:39And Otani's first out is a K.
01:42He just popped up and threw that ball right by him.
01:45Jelic, another guy trying to get it going offensively in the series.
01:48He's just won for 11.
01:50And his one hit on infield single yesterday.
01:52That's a called strike three.
01:54Otani paints with a 100-mile-an-hour fastball.
01:58And back-to-back strikeouts.
02:00One swinging, one looking.
02:02Now William Contreras.
02:04Well, two pitch.
02:05Got him swinging.
02:07Put him away with the sweeper.
02:08And after the lead-off walk, Otani then strikes out the side in the top of the first.
02:13Well, because it's Shohei Otani, there's no one like him.
02:16He's got to race off the mound after he strikes out three in a row.
02:19He's got to get ready to hit.
02:20Doesn't even go into the dugout.
02:22All of his equipment, the toe guard, the batting gloves, the elbow guard.
02:26There's a lot going on when Otani pitches and hits.
02:30This is the other end of the spectrum, the pitching spectrum, from Shohei Otani.
02:36Jose Quintana is a command pitcher.
02:38Otani tees off deep right field.
02:42Shohei Otani, one of one.
02:50A lead-off home run three quarters of the way up the right field pavilion.
02:55He strikes out three in the top of the first.
02:58A lead-off bomb in the bottom half.
03:02Simply amazing.
03:04With Otani, the more we see, the more we just can't figure out how on earth he does it all.
03:09It constantly boggles the mind.
03:12He hit 55 in the regular season, a Dodger record.
03:16And he's gone deep for the third time this postseason, his first of the championship series.
03:221-0 Dodgers in a hurry.
03:24Now Mookie Betts.
03:26And now Mookie Betts in the left field, a base hit.
03:29Clean single to left, following the Otani home run.
03:32And the Dodgers have this big crowd up and loud quickly.
03:36Now Will Smith.
03:37He is Will Smith on the first pitch.
03:39Perkins coming in, can't get it.
03:41Knocks it down.
03:42Betts on his way to third.
03:45And the Dodgers come out swinging here in the bottom of the first.
03:50Three straight hits.
03:52Smith in ambush mode.
03:53First and third.
03:55Nobody out.
03:56Now Freddie Freeman.
03:58And a swing and a miss.
04:00Quintana strikes him out.
04:02Stuck with a fastball.
04:03That's a big out.
04:04Here's Tommy Edmond.
04:06That one's on the ground.
04:07Three for a base hit.
04:08In to score as Betts.
04:10Smith on his way to third.
04:12And Tommy Edmond continues to rake.
04:14It's an RBI single.
04:16It is 2-0 Los Angeles.
04:19Edmond's got six RBIs in 10 games of this postseason.
04:24Well this bottom of the first inning has gone homer single, single, single, strikeout single.
04:31Everything is hit on the button against Quintana so far by the Dodgers offense.
04:37Right off the end of the bat.
04:38Bowers coming in.
04:39He'll put the tag on Hernandez.
04:41Going to bring in another run.
04:42It's the second out.
04:44An RBI for Hernandez.
04:46It is 3-0 Los Angeles.
04:48So early going, not a bad trade and out for a run.
04:51He's back on the mound.
04:53He's retired six in a row after a leadoff walk to Terang.
04:56As Blake Perkins, a patient at bat, draws the walk.
05:00And speed at first base to start this third inning.
05:04Ortiz is 2 for 18 in the postseason.
05:07And a swing and a miss.
05:09And Otani picks up his fourth strikeout.
05:12He goes upstairs.
05:14Ortiz chases the ball.
05:16And it's out number one.
05:17Top of the order now.
05:19Bryce Terang, the second baseman.
05:21And Terang in the left field slicing.
05:24Hernandez is there.
05:25Perkins off the bag and out.
05:29It's a double play.
05:30Perkins was moving on the pitch.
05:33It was a line out from Terang.
05:35Hernandez running in to make that catch.
05:38Was able to let that ball fly to first.
05:40And Perkins was trying to hustle back as quickly as he could.
05:44But Hernandez doubles him off.
05:46And that's how the series has gone for the Brewers so far here.
05:50Smith to be followed by Freeman and Edmond.
05:52Here in this third.
05:54Smith's going to dump one in the right field.
05:56A base hit.
05:57Just serves one in the right for his second hit.
06:01We said it last night.
06:02Smith's at bats are getting better and better and better.
06:05Freeman 0 for 1 with a strikeout.
06:07Trying to get on the board here in game four.
06:10Freeman drives one in the gap right center.
06:12Freelich over to cut it off.
06:14Smith on his way to third base.
06:16And Freddie Freeman backs up Will Smith.
06:19Back to back singles to start the third.
06:21Back to back base hits for the Dodgers to open up this third inning.
06:25He's in.
06:25Here comes Pat Murphy, the manager to the mound.
06:28Just two plus for the left-hander.
06:31The Dodgers have runners on the corners.
06:33Nobody out in the third.
06:34Tommy Edmond will be the batter against Chad Patrick who takes over.
06:37Patrick deals.
06:38And a cold strike three.
06:41Backdoor cutter.
06:43And he strikes out Tommy Edmond for the first out.
06:47So now Teoscar's turn.
06:49And a swing out of his.
06:50Chad Patrick strikes him out on that breaking ball.
06:53And he's an out away from getting out of this jam.
06:55And you're looking for any kind of lift, any kind of momentum you can grab onto if you're the Brewers.
07:02And a ground ball caught by Bowers.
07:04Nice play.
07:05He'll go to the bag.
07:06And the inning is over.
07:07And Chad Patrick comes on to put the blanket on it.
07:11Chad Patrick a masterful job of working around some traffic.
07:16Jackson Churio will lead off the top of the fourth inning for the Brewers.
07:20Trailing three-nothing.
07:22Churio sends one down the left field line.
07:25That ball is going to be one hop and out.
07:29An automatic double for Jackson Churio.
07:32Just kept it fair.
07:34It is a short porch down there.
07:37And he narrowly missed a solo home run to start the fourth.
07:41And so Churio has the Brewers' first hit of this game.
07:44And here's Christian Yelich who struck out looking back in the first.
07:47Brewers with a scoring chance against Otani.
07:50Yelich hits it sharply.
07:52Churio on his way to third.
07:54And Betts makes the play.
07:55Four out number one.
07:57Productive out.
07:58Putting a runner in third with one out.
08:00Brewers trailing three-nothing.
08:01But even to get one here would feel big just to get on the board.
08:06Otani deals.
08:07And a swing and a miss.
08:09Contreras strikes out.
08:11Otani picks up a big out on a key.
08:15Strikeout number five for Shohei Otani.
08:18And Churio remains at third.
08:20And now it's going to be up to Bowers trying to come through.
08:22A one-two pitch to Bowers.
08:24He struck him out.
08:27Otani pumps his fists as he walks off the mound.
08:30For the third time in four innings.
08:32The Brewers get the leadoff man on.
08:35But Otani strands him.
08:37Chad Patrick still out there after getting the last three outs of the third inning.
08:42And a called strike three with purpose.
08:46Ninety-six mile an hour fastball on the corner.
08:49One and two to Pajes.
08:50And he hits the same spot.
08:53Chad Patrick dialed in with that fastball.
08:56Man, Chad Patrick is pitching wonderfully so far here tonight.
08:59He's retired.
09:00All five that he's faced.
09:02Four of them via the strikeout.
09:04Now he's got to face Otani who has reached twice tonight.
09:08Oh my goodness!
09:11Shohei Otani!
09:14Wow!
09:16Up and over the roof!
09:20A majestic blast!
09:27Otani dropped jaws everywhere!
09:30And it's four to nothing Dodgers!
09:36117 off the bat.
09:38469 feet.
09:39He is the first Dodger to ever have two multi-homerun games in the same postseason.
09:44It was about as impressive as it gets.
09:48The bat flip.
09:50The one you could enjoy all the way around.
09:53What a majestic home run that was.
09:56My goodness.
09:59469 feet!
10:01The longest home run at Dodger Stadium this year!
10:054-0 Dodgers in Game 4!
10:07One going to the fifth.
10:091-2 coming.
10:10And a check swing.
10:11He went around.
10:12Strike three.
10:15Seventh strikeout for Shohei Otani.
10:18Struck out nine Phillies in his last appearance.
10:221-2.
10:22Strike three!
10:25Shohei Otani!
10:26With eight K's in five scoreless innings!
10:31We're halfway home in Game 4!
10:34Dodgers 4!
10:35Brewers nothing!
10:36They lead Milwaukee 4-0!
10:38Thanks in large part to the man back on the mound.
10:41Shohei Otani!
10:43Getting ready for his sixth inning.
10:44Moe, he's had 79 pitches.
10:46He has thrown 53 strikes.
10:48He's got seven strikeouts through five innings.
10:51And a little half swing by Collins.
10:53That is the splitter once again.
10:55And then he strikes out Collins to start the sixth.
10:58Lineup turns over for the Brewers.
11:00Bryce Terrain.
11:001-2 on Terrain.
11:02And a swing and a miss.
11:03It's another strikeout.
11:05He has struck out four consecutive Brewers.
11:09Sits him down with a splitter.
11:11Back-to-back K's to open the sixth.
11:13He's up to ten.
11:14I mean, usually these kind of games are reserved for Williamsport.
11:19But we've got one going on right here at Dodger Stadium.
11:22Churio skies the first pitch in the left center field.
11:25But Pajas is there.
11:29Otani leaves to a standing ovation.
11:33Six shutout innings.
11:35Ten strikeouts.
11:36Two home runs.
11:38Four nothing L.A.
11:40In game four.
11:42Shohei Otani back to work in the top of the seventh inning.
11:46Faces Christian Yellich right out of the chute.
11:49Brewers trailing four nothing.
11:51And that's ball four.
11:52There's a base runner.
11:54So Yellich works a leadoff walk here in the seventh.
11:56And we'll see.
11:57That should probably get some action going.
11:59So here's Contreras who struck out twice against Otani.
12:02He's going through this lineup a third time tonight.
12:04Three two pitch Contreras up the middle in a base hit.
12:08Took that approach Frenchy.
12:10Good call.
12:10And it's a single.
12:11And the Brewers now in business.
12:14Two on.
12:14Nobody out.
12:15And here comes Dave Roberts.
12:17And this place is going to roar when Otani walks off the mound.
12:23Six plus innings.
12:25Ten strikeouts.
12:28Two home runs.
12:30One legendary performance.
12:33Dodgers up four to nothing on Milwaukee in game four.
12:36But, Mo, don't look now.
12:37But the tying run is on deck for the Brewers.
12:40First and second.
12:40Nobody out.
12:41It'll be a pinch hitter for Jake Bowers.
12:43As the right-handed Andrew Vaughn will face Alex Vestia.
12:48So now the Brewers have their shot.
12:50This is their shot.
12:52And Vaughn gets under one.
12:55Popped him up.
12:57Infield fly roll is the call.
12:59Mookie Betts will catch it.
13:01And there is out number one.
13:03So here's Freelich.
13:04So lefty-lefty matchup here.
13:06Freelich hit lefties well this season.
13:09Back up the middle.
13:10Goes right to Betts.
13:11Got a chance for two.
13:12And Alex Vestia puts the blanket on another one.
13:18That closes the book on Ohtani.
13:21As Vestia inherits two.
13:25But none of them score.
13:27Seven shutout for Ohtani and Alex Vestia.
13:31Game four into the stretch.
13:34Four-nothing Dodgers.
13:35Here comes Ohtani.
13:36Take it out of the game as a pitcher.
13:38But the Ohtani rule allows him to stay in as the DH.
13:41Well Moe there have been 12 three homerun games in postseason history by 11 different players.
13:48Babe Ruth did it twice.
13:49For the Dodgers.
13:50Chris Taylor the last to do it in 2021.
13:53Can Ohtani follow suit?
13:56Ohtani did he?
13:58Ohtani!
14:00Ohtani has done it again!
14:02His third homerun!
14:05His third homerun!
14:12Shohei Ohtani!
14:13The stuff of legend!
14:17I don't know how much more he can say about Shohei Ohtani because he has done, well, in his career,
14:24unbelievable things.
14:25Tonight he has done things that, well, you only dream about.
14:30I mean, if you dare dream about it.
14:32And normally you're going to be awakened in the morning by mom and says, hey, it's time to go to
14:36school.
14:37I mean, he has done tonight, but only a guy wearing a cape, you would think, would be able to
14:42do it.
14:43With an S on his chest.
14:45An all-time game for an all-time player.
14:51Three homers.
14:52He makes it 5-0.
14:55They need 6 more outs to punch their ticket back to the Fall Classic.
15:00Become the first team, first defending champion since the 2009 Phillies, to make it back to the World Series.
15:07Lake Trinan is on the pitch.
15:08And that one is line fair down the left field line.
15:13Caleb Durbin on his way to second base.
15:15He's got a leadoff double.
15:17Durbin has been one of the few bright spots in this championship series.
15:20Had two hits yesterday.
15:22Durbin takes off, and he's going to steal third base.
15:25The pitch is a strike.
15:27Durbin gets a third.
15:30Monasterio draws the wall.
15:32Isaac Collins steps in with runners at the corners and nobody out.
15:37And a swing and a miss.
15:39Trident with a backdoor breaking ball.
15:42Strikes out.
15:42Isaac Collins for out number one.
15:45Trident is out.
15:46Dave Roberts goes into his bullpen.
15:49Anthony Bonda coming in to face Bryce Terrain.
15:51Anthony Bonda on for the Dodgers.
15:54Runners around the corners against Bryce Terrain.
15:57Terrain faced Bonda yesterday, flying to left.
16:01Terrain, slow roll at a second base.
16:03Flip it to the bag.
16:04Bounce to first, not in time.
16:07And the Brewers are finally on the board.
16:10The speedy Terrain beats it out.
16:14Dodgers get the lead out at second base.
16:17Durbin scores the run.
16:18And it's 5-1, Dodgers.
16:21Brewers do not get shut out in game number four.
16:24And it's an RBI fielder's choice for Bryce Terrain.
16:28Now two outs in the eighth.
16:29Runner on first.
16:30Jackson Churio, the batter.
16:33Churio whistles one in the left field.
16:35A base hit.
16:38Hitting continues for Milwaukee.
16:40Jackson Churio with his second hit.
16:42He's two for four.
16:43And that is going to bring up Christian Jelich.
16:46Jelich trying to extend the inning to Contreras
16:49as the bullpen starts to heat up.
16:52That's a tapper back to the mound.
16:54And Banda gets through the innings.
16:57The Brewers get one, but only one.
17:01One run, two hits, no errors, two left on.
17:05Roki Sasaki, out of the ashes of the 2025 season,
17:09rises and ascends to the back end of the Dodger bullpen
17:13as their unofficial closer.
17:16And a shot back up the middle.
17:18William Contreras keeps him quiet for now.
17:21His second hit, both have come up the middle.
17:24And a base runner to start tonight for the Brewers.
17:27And now it's Andrew Vaughn.
17:29Vaughn popped to short as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.
17:34Vaughn in the right center field.
17:36Hit well, racing over to make the play.
17:38Here's Pahez.
17:39And the Dodgers are two outs away.
17:45Brewers have scored exactly one run
17:47in the first four games here.
17:49Consecutive games allowing one or fewer.
17:5120-25 Dodgers are on that list
17:55with an active streak of four.
17:57This is a double play chance.
17:59Out at second, no throw.
18:02For the second out,
18:07Freeland reaches on a fielder's choice.
18:11And one out to get for Los Angeles.
18:14Sasaki will have to go through Caleb Durbin.
18:16The Dodgers on the doorstep.
18:19The Brewers on the brink.
18:20Caleb Durbin, the batter.
18:22Freeland takes off.
18:23Durbin, a high fly ball to right.
18:25Pahez.
18:26He is there.
18:27He's got it.
18:28And the ball game is over.
18:30And the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the National League pennant.
18:35They sweep the Brewers.
18:38They sweep the Brewers.
18:41The greatest night of baseball by an individual player in the history of this game.
18:47Shohei Ohtani.
18:49Three homers.
18:51And a victory on the mound with ten strikeouts.
18:54Ball game series.
18:57The Dodgers are going back to the World Series.
19:03That's a sweep for L.A.
19:06And for the fifth time in nine years,
19:11the Dodgers plant the pennant right here in Los Angeles.
19:18The fireworks subside, but the celebration just getting started.
19:23Victory formation on the mound.
19:27Right in the thick of it.
19:28Number 17, Shohei Ohtani.
19:32Who pitched and powered the Dodgers to this pennant.
19:37The most incredible performance I've ever seen by one player.
19:41Not only the three home runs as a hitter.
19:43He was the starting pitcher for the Dodgers.
19:47They went six scoreless innings.
19:50Allowed just two hits.
19:51Struck out ten.
19:54And you don't write a strip like that.
19:57Even Hollywood would throw it out.
20:00He's simply beyond words.
20:04And frankly, beyond comprehension.
20:08Shohei Ohtani.
20:10Dave Roberts said before the game ball.
20:12We heard it.
20:13He told the media.
20:15Ohtani has been quiet offensively.
20:17But he can put his stamp on the NLCS.
20:20Not only did he do that,
20:22he put his stamp in the Major League history books.
