00:01doesn't it feel like the Brewers have to win this game the Dodgers have won 21 of their last 27
00:07postseason series but the Brewers have their best pitcher on the mound and it's win day when he
00:12pitches in Milwaukee nine and one this year with a great ERA the best ERA at home of any pitcher
00:18in the big leagues and Yoshinobu Yamamoto is going for the Dodgers he has been great all season
00:24went to the post 30 times and all-star he's their most consistent starter all year long
00:29but he lost his last start in the postseason and had a tough start here in July against the Brewers
00:36and there is fastball Freddy who Ronnie has turned into combial Fred here lately with the use of the
00:42changeup yeah well this year he had 111 strikeouts on secondary pitches 93 on his fastball what does
00:50that mean he's a more complete pitcher and that's saying something but what you want to see tonight
00:55is swing and miss on his fastball his fastball plays up as well as anyone in the game we're ready
01:01to go
01:02Ohtani steps in three straight curves to show hey Ohtani hitters have a book and if you're in their book
01:09it means they hit a home run home run off you well Freddy Peralta is in Ohtani's book twice he's
01:15had
01:15intentional walks and the Dodgers scored a run on a bases loaded walk while against the Phillies won last night
01:22and a swing and a miss and he's stuck with the breaking stuff and that's how the night begins
01:28well maybe you're right Brian it's combial Freddy now after Ohtani with the breaking ball gets right on the side
01:36of that ball
01:36yeah I don't know if it was the break or the change in velocity that got Ohtani out in front
01:41but the Dodgers have not lost on the road yet in the postseason they swept the Reds at home in
01:46the the wild card series
01:49up for Alan just missed and Peralta walks Mookie Betts and a baserunner here with one out
01:55Freddie Freeman who homered and had a double last night fly ball in the right field
02:01cheerio put to the road and Freddie Freeman is retired
02:05two outs in the first inning for Peralta and it's one and two on Will Smith
02:10struck him out swinging fastball in the outside corner and Will Smith is done down the first
02:16Dodgers failed to score at the first now the Brewers coming up for the first time
02:20against Yamamoto it's Jackson Cheerio top of the order
02:24and on the first pitch Jackson Cheerio sends one into deep right and that one's gonna fly out of here
02:31Cheerio with a home run to start it offensively for the Brewers
02:35I'll tell you what man you talk about bringing this place alive 106 off the bat 389
02:41Cheerio just missed one last night in the ninth inning which would have been a walk-off three-run bomb
02:46Boy, Peralta kind of silenced the bats early and then he brought this place alive
02:51Ronnie, I think the theme tonight for the Milwaukee Brewers
02:55offensively is the 21 year old Cheerio is all smiles
02:59well the Brewers equal their run total from game one after this one pitch here tonight
03:04solo home run from Jackson Cheerio Yamamoto trying to get the final out of the first inning
03:10he needs one more strike here's a 2-2 pitch
03:15broken back ground ball to the left side Muncie over
03:18sets and throws to Freeman and that will end the inning
03:21so after the first pitch home run Yamamoto gets three outs in succession
03:25one nothing Brewers bases empty one out in the second
03:28three and two to Hernandez
03:33and a high fly ball in the left field that is way back there
03:38and that is going to be a gone home run
03:41we are tied
03:44Hernandez like Freeman yesterday
03:46it's a towering fly ball home run out of here
03:50Hernandez with his fourth home run this postseason
03:54his tenth RBI
03:573-2 with that curveball and it just kind of floated right
04:00and Hernandez was able to stay back on it
04:02got a little out in front but so strong and such a great hitter
04:06one of six off the bat launches in that second back
04:09Dodgers a prolific offensive team
04:12they were second in the majors at OPS this year
04:15combining on base and slugging percentage
04:17all the Yankees better
04:19up the middle that's a base hit
04:22Kike Hernandez with a two strike single
04:25Hernandez
04:27Teoscar was a two strike homer and now Kike with a two strike single to extend the inning
04:33and now it's Andy Paz
04:35talented Dodgers center fielder
04:37the 1-1 pitch he shoots it down the right field line
04:40and slices into the corner for a hit
04:42fair ball down the line green light from Dino Evil
04:45Kike Hernandez coming around
04:47here's the relay home
04:48he's safe
04:49Andy Paz busts out of a postseason slump
04:53with a go-ahead double here in the second
04:552-1 Dodgers
04:56and he stayed back on the ball
04:58not being out in front of it
05:00that's been really problematic for Paz in recent weeks
05:04a little too anxious
05:05that swing got a little bit too long
05:07well stay back
05:08hit the ball where it's pitched
05:10back to back two out hits
05:12flip the scoreboard and now the Dodgers ahead
05:14Paz with a breakthrough swing
05:16can Ohtani follow suit
05:18Andy Paz will be
05:20off and running with a crack at the back
05:22and Shohei Ohtani lines one to right
05:24Cheerios there
05:26the right fielder
05:30Yamamoto back on the mound for his second inning
05:33Vaughn on the ground
05:34Muncie boots it recovers
05:36he's got time at the high throw
05:38Paul screaming off the bag
05:41Vaughn is not a fast runner
05:44Muncie rushed that throw
05:46and it'll be an error to start this second inning
05:49you're not lying VA watching from up here
05:51you talk about in slow motion
05:52for Vaughn this ball just kind of hopped on Muncie
05:56and even here with a good throw
05:58he might have had him at the end
06:00maybe with Freddie's ability to stretch
06:03but a break for the Brewers
06:04get some on base early
06:06here's Sal Freelich now
06:09and a bouncer to Freeman
06:11he fires to second out there
06:13Yamamoto covers that throw goes off the dugout facing
06:16it'll stay in the field of play
06:19and Freelich will replace Vaughn at first base
06:23Dodgers do catch a break here
06:24there's netting in front of the dugouts
06:26and instead of going into the dugout
06:29and hit that netting
06:30that stayed in the field of play
06:31so one away here's Caleb Durbin now
06:34with Freelich a base stealer at first base
06:38and a called strike three
06:41stuck the fastball right by him
06:43and the first strikeout for Yamamoto
06:46it is out number two of the second inning
06:48two outs for Jake Bowers the one
06:50newcomer in the starting lineup for the
06:52Brewers from game one
06:55Bowers
06:56one hopper to Mookie Betts
06:58and he makes a play
07:00that'll end the inning
07:01and it is a little out of character
07:03Brewers two plate appearances thus far
07:06of four more pitches
07:07and that is something they normally do
07:09quite a bit from everybody in their
07:11lineup as Cheerio cuts and misses
07:13and Yamamoto wipes him out
07:15big fastball upstairs for Yamamoto
07:18picks up his second strikeout
07:21two men out here at the third
07:23but he's done a great job of using
07:25this fastball with two strikes
07:27he got Durbin to look at one on the
07:29outside corner and Cheerio swings
07:32through one on the inside corner
07:33and a liner into left that's going to get down
07:36for a base hit for Bryce Terang
07:38didn't hit it all that hard
07:40but hit it where he needed to
07:41over the head of Muncie and
07:43dumped it into left
07:45that's a two out single for the Brewers
07:48Contreras
07:48rounded out to first base
07:51and is only at bat tonight
07:520-2 pitch line shot right at bats
07:56allowed out but an out nonetheless
07:58so a two out single stranded by Yamamoto
08:01still 2 1 Dodgers he's got the great
08:04ball but it comes off can be precise
08:06with that basketball he's still got
08:08to throw it his nickname fastball
08:10Freddie and he's lived up to that
08:12reputation pretty much until this
08:14year head balls drilled into the
08:16gap right center Tommy Edmund
08:18that's going to bounce out for the
08:19auto double Tommy Edmund into
08:21second base with a two out double
08:24here extends this setting every
08:26time he's up I always think he just
08:29hitters brings up Kike Hernandez
08:31Dodgers lead 2 to 1 we're in the
08:33fourth inning of game 2 kicks
08:35delivers swing and a miss he
08:37struck him out got him with a
08:39curveball and Freddie Peralta
08:41hangs another 0 Yamamoto was
08:43already a star when he came to
08:46Major League Baseball three times
08:48he was the MVP of his league in
08:51Japan he won the pitching triple
08:53crown three times as well as he
08:57strikes out Christian Yellich led
08:59that league and wins ERA and
09:02strikeouts on three occasions
09:04inside a 12 year contract with the
09:07Los Angeles Dodgers and that is a
09:08mean splitter that he breaks out
09:10Gary really spreads the same
09:12pitch twice Freeland goes the
09:15other way in a base hit that's
09:17back-to-back innings that the Jeff
09:20Francois approach has paid off to
09:23Rang in the third and now Freeland
09:25goes to the opposite field here
09:26in the fourth 0 2 2 outs on
09:28Durbin with Sal Freeland at first
09:30base and he got him back to the
09:34splitter he goes and he strikes
09:36out Caleb Durbin and he has hit
09:39by the first pitch from Peralta
09:41to right on the hand to stay in the
09:42game that one had the sound that
09:45one smarted right on the knuckles
09:47has who doubled in a run his last
09:50time up putting the Dodgers in
09:51front is a board to start it in
09:53front of Shohei Ohtani wanted to
09:55the count and a swing and a mess
09:57Ohtani started it early chased one
10:00out of the zone Peralta strikes
10:02him out with a high fastball and
10:04it's out number one one away for
10:05Betts another three two bats on
10:08the ground Durbin the second to
10:11reign the tournament a double
10:12play that is a big one for
10:15Freddie Peralta and it's ball
10:17for a no no to the number nine
10:19hitter at a very fast runner and
10:22now the Brewers get back to the
10:23top of the order bottom of the
10:25fifth runner at first time
10:26running first and that ball is
10:29whistled into left field Kike
10:31Hernandez right there to make
10:32the play cheerio hit it like a
10:35bullet but out number two
10:38two hundred and eleven off the
10:40bat for cheerio right into the
10:42glove of Kike Hernandez Yamamoto
10:45with two outs here's Bryce
10:47Terang now Ortiz takes off in the
10:51pitches they strike three no
10:54throw needed Yamamoto drops a
10:57big curve once he in his
10:59postseason career that is now at
11:02seventy games thirteen playoff
11:05home runs thirty four driven in
11:07when it counts the most another
11:09three to Muncie into center field
11:11Freelich turns and runs at
11:13balls deep Freelich jumps and it is
11:15up and out of here Max Muncie a
11:20home run to center field with two
11:22outs and two strikes and it's
11:25three to one Dodgers his first
11:28homer and first RBI of this
11:30postseason what do we say about
11:32Muncie always getting the big hit
11:34he does one ten off the bat for
11:36twelve center he just he hunts
11:39fastball center cut fastball there
11:42and Pat Murphy will take the ball
11:45from his all-star as Max Muncie
11:49delivers a big blow in this game
11:52as we play with two outs in the
11:54six it is Abner Uribe he threw
11:56yesterday through twenty two
11:57pitches forty three pitches in
11:59the last three days that one
12:01hits the leg of Uribe slides it
12:03makes the play but it's low and
12:05the throw goes into the camera
12:07well it's a dead ball Hernandez
12:10is going to get second base so
12:13once the ball goes into the
12:14photographer's well it is
12:16immediately dead to Oscar
12:18Hernandez awarded second base so
12:20the runner at second two men out
12:22here is Tommy Edmund now and a
12:26strikeout to end the inning but
12:28Max Muncie delivers with two
12:31outs one ball two strikes to
12:33count that Hernandez in the air
12:37left center field that's deep in
12:39the left center and that's going
12:40to be down balls in the air a
12:43long time Kike Hernandez in the
12:46second base with a double
12:47Freelich was over in the right
12:49center and that ball falls on the
12:51warning track for a lead off
12:53double here in the seventh
12:54Dodgers hunting a put away punch
12:57here in the seventh inning they
12:58lead three to one and he gets the
13:03butt down Vaughn will go to first
13:05a sacrifice for Andy Pires to
13:09third goes Kike Hernandez with Ohtani
13:12coming up and Aaron Ashby on with
13:15one out and a runner at third and
13:17Shohei Ohtani coming up on two to
13:20Ohtani on the ground through for
13:21a base hit it's an RBI single for
13:25Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers add
13:28to their lead four to one Los
13:31Angeles Ohtani collects his first
13:34RBI of this championship series
13:36and he missed kind of middle middle
13:37right there the one spot where
13:39Ohtani could hit it with some
13:41pace right there at one point they
13:43had over a hundred million dollars
13:45in payroll on the injured list as
13:47Betts lines one to right and there
13:51is out number two but the idea all
13:53along was to build toward the end
13:55of the season and into the
13:57postseason and they are at their
13:59strongest right now even though
14:01they have some question marks in
14:02their bullpen they are in peak
14:05performance and roster right now
14:07coming into the postseason one two
14:09runner goes pitches the ball
14:11Contreras couldn't secure it that
14:13would be a stolen base for Shea
14:16Shohei Ohtani he can do that too
14:18by the way as a 50 50 player 50
14:21homers 50 steals last year when he
14:23was a D.A. total swing and a
14:25miss he struck him out got him with
14:27a sinker at ninety nine down below
14:29the zone Freeman went fishing two
14:32up two down two ground ball out
14:33Yamamoto has retired seven straight
14:37now after the walk in the fifth
14:39Bowers roll over ground ball
14:41Tommy Edmond scoops it makes the
14:44play and Yamamoto carries on the
14:47Dodgers have come in here and
14:50impose their will in the first
14:52two games of this series Will
14:54Smith leads off little flair is
14:57going to fall in right field at a
14:58base hit the pitcher for the
15:00Milwaukee's Tobias Myers three and
15:02two the count Muncie draws the
15:05walk and the Dodgers with two on
15:08nobody out here in the eighth
15:10inning Myers ready the one two
15:13bouncing ball to third Durbin
15:15coming in throw the first is just
15:17in time to get Hernandez both
15:19runners advance productive out
15:2140 Oscar Hernandez out number one
15:23of the eight he got second third
15:25see if Pat Murphy decides to bring
15:28the infield in or put Edmond on
15:30second and third infield in with
15:32one out and a base hit through
15:34for Edmond in the score is Smith
15:38Muncie going to be held at third
15:40and it's an RBI single Tommy
15:42Edmond makes it five to one
15:43Dodgers you guys there's just
15:45professional hitters that let the
15:47game come to them in these
15:48situations Tommy Edmond is one of
15:50those that ball was up in the zone
15:51but knowing the infield then
15:53right just got to squeeze it
15:54through somewhere full count on
15:56Kike here's the three two it is
16:00low ball for load them up for the
16:03Dodgers in the eighth how about
16:05this night for Andy Pias it could
16:06get even better his pops this
16:08one up should stay playable
16:10Joey Ortiz is over foul grounds
16:13he's got it for the out and all
16:15three runners stay put has
16:17retired and now Tony they have
16:19the bases loaded for Ohtani and
16:21Robert Gasser is in crowd trying
16:23to help out their young pitcher
16:26and he strikes out Ohtani
16:28Robert Gasser has a moment in a
16:31championship series first half
16:33back for Collins here pinch
16:34hitting for Joey Ortiz and a
16:38called strike three right on the
16:39edge impeccable command all night
16:42long Yamamoto with his sixth
16:45strikeout this four seam fastball
16:47started in the middle and moved
16:49right to that corner ground ball
16:51second base stopped by Edmond
16:53sliding to the dirt in the back
16:54hand side he throws to Freddie
16:55Freeman that's the final out of
16:58the eighth inning Yamamoto puts the
17:01Brewers down in order eight innings
17:04in the books five one Dodgers here
17:06in game two so base runner at first
17:09for Freddie Freeman three and two the
17:10count and Freeman back up the middle
17:14and a base hit Betts is going to turn
17:16and head to third base Freeman on his
17:18way to second throw comes in and
17:20Freeman's in with a hustle double
17:22Freddie Freeman's first hit and it's
17:25second and third with nobody out in
17:27the ninth so they're going to walk
17:29Will Smith intentional pass to load
17:32the bases five to one Dodgers
17:35threatening for more here in the
17:37ninth one and two the count and he
17:40got him Gasser strikes about the first
17:43out of the inning infield at medium
17:45depth he'll make the play where
17:47baseball takes him ground ball to
17:50third they're going to come to second
17:51base they get one on the first
17:53double play and Grant Anderson gets a
17:56two-for-one deal
17:57in the third one and the third one
17:57Dodger fans all smiles here in
17:59Milwaukee and in the age of
18:02bullpenning Yoshi Yamamoto is on
18:04the mound to try to finish this
18:06one last time the Dodgers had a
18:08complete game in a postseason game
18:112004 21 years ago game three of
18:15the NLDS Jose Lima been on the
18:17windup been in control the whole
18:19way two and two and Contreras
18:22skies one to center Dean settles
18:25under it and there is out number
18:28one it was a rare hanging breaking
18:31ball there from Yamamoto but
18:33Contreras still didn't handle it
18:35Ronnie Yamamoto was a star in
18:39Japan for the Orange Buffaloes
18:42in the Pacific League Japanese
18:44Major Leagues and while he has
18:46not thrown a complete game in the
18:49Major Leagues as a Dodger that
18:50was a pretty regular occurrence in
18:52Japan Yamamoto had a shoulder
18:53injury last year he missed three
18:55moments on the injured list came
18:56back was ready for the postseason
18:59there's a chopper to Yamamoto he's
19:01got it and the Dodgers are an out
19:03away from a two nothing advantage
19:07in this best of seven series and
19:10Yamamoto is an out away from a
19:12complete game Jim signed a 12 year
19:16three hundred and twenty five
19:18million dollar deal largest
19:19contract for a pitcher in Major
19:21League history at the time here he
19:23comes the 0 2 and a swing and a
19:26miss and Yoshi Yamamoto with his
19:29crown jewel as a Dodger it is a
19:34complete game he goes the distance
19:37and the Dodgers win game two by a
19:41score of five to one and Yamamoto
19:44stands tall on this night in
19:46Milwaukee we don't get to see it
19:48very often but the smile that
19:50comes on a starting pitcher's
19:52face when he's got twenty seven
19:54outs and this might be the best
19:57splitter of a lot of good
20:00splitters on the whole night this
20:02one just took off and the Dodgers
20:06pitching staff has come in here two
20:07games five hits and two runs 18
20:10strikeouts for the Blues offense
20:12the Dodgers put on a pitching
20:14clinic here two days in Milwaukee
20:16their last 28 postseason games
20:19they've won 22.
