00:01Tonight on Wiseguy...
00:03See, I don't see myself as kissing off this nation.
00:06I see myself as protecting it.
00:09The guys you're looking for are a daisy chain of men in high places.
00:14You're sure Lococo's not gonna hurt you?
00:15I'm just as sure that these guys will.
00:18I want the satisfaction of knowing that he is God.
00:21Listen to me.
00:22If he slips through and they manage to hit you,
00:25I swear on my family, I'll kill them myself.
00:56I'm live.
00:57I'm not a victim...
01:15I'm not a victim ya'
01:15I'm not a victim...
01:17His life alone.
01:18I'm not a victim.
01:18I don't need it.
01:21I can't live.
01:22But I don't need it.
01:23It's called Palpatine.
01:24You're not a victim.
01:25See, I'm not a victim.
02:24All right, guys.
02:25I need a few minutes.
02:26Why don't you go grab some lunch?
02:33Why are we closing this case, Frank?
02:37Vince, we stumbled onto a criminal empire,
02:39and we brought it down.
02:40Now, what's left here are records leading to some
02:42of the biggest criminals on Earth.
02:44It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
02:45I'd say it's a job well done.
02:47Roger LoCocco.
02:48Oh, Vince.
02:51Roger LoCocco was working for the CIA while you
02:54were working for the OCB.
02:56You're going after the same criminal
02:57from different directions.
02:58No, no, no.
02:59That's too neat, Frank.
03:01LoCocco's been in this a long time.
03:02He's got a lot more on his plate than just Mel Profitt.
03:05What about the takeover of Il Pavo?
03:06I talked to Arthur Franklin.
03:08He's the attorney general specialist on constitutional law.
03:11He's got top secret clearance.
03:12He could not establish LoCocco's existence in the CIA.
03:16Frank, that guy does exist.
03:17Which means he's in so deep that the CIA front office
03:20doesn't know what he's up to.
03:21What about a meeting with this Ketcher guy?
03:23He's in the company, too.
03:24Somebody's got to know what's going on.
03:26Ketcher came to the company by way of the special forces,
03:29a real destabilization ideologue.
03:32They tried to remove him, but the guy wouldn't go quietly.
03:35So they put him in research and shuffled him off to the boonies.
03:37I guess they just figured a guy would fade away.
03:40Well, if you know that much, then you
03:41know that I'm not ready to close shop on this yet.
03:43And what are you going to do?
03:44I'm going to confront Roger.
03:46I want to hear it from him that the only reason he was in this
03:48was to bring down profit.
03:49That is not a good idea.
03:51The guy is dangerous.
03:53There's an understanding between us,
03:54one undercover operative to another.
03:56I'm going to go talk to him.
03:57And I am ordering you not to.
04:02So you'll be real careful on your vacation, you understand?
04:09Thanks, Frank.
04:10I'm Vince.
04:12What?
04:12I would sleep a lot better at night
04:14if you'd make your call-in schedule.
04:16You got it.
04:17I'm Vinny.
04:18What?
04:19All right.
04:21The guys you're looking for are a daisy chain of men
04:24in high places, abusing their power.
04:27They're invisible.
04:28They want to stay that way.
04:30You're sure Lococo's not going to hurt you?
04:31I'm just as sure that these guys will.
04:33understand.
04:35Shut off.
04:46Pull-up.
04:48Pull-up.
04:55You're good.
04:57Go.
04:57Oh, seva stare.
04:57Max?
04:57Hi, much compartments.
05:00I'm not going to Provinciatic.
05:01I'll ask you Dave.
05:01You can start a picture with me,
05:02I hope conjure him in.
05:02a puzzle.
05:02You need to tell your Ma Zojt,
05:03Oh, I hope nobody.
05:06May I?
05:14How long has Roger been gone?
05:18But you know he's not coming back, don't you?
05:21Now how do you know that?
05:23He called you.
05:25Somebody else called you and said he wasn't coming back.
05:29He told you to pick up whatever was left, the groceries.
05:33You understand me.
05:35Why don't you talk to me?
05:38Oh, oh, I.
05:40What?
05:42Oh, I.
05:44No tongue?
05:46Oh, I'm sorry.
05:57Do you know who it was that called you?
06:17No, I'm sorry.
06:19No, no knew what.
06:35Oh, my God.
06:58Oh, my God.
07:37Oh, my God.
08:01Oh, my God.
08:30Oh, my God.
08:54I'm tearing over.
08:55USA money section.
08:56Standard collapse rollover.
08:59Hey, what's your 20, Vinnie?
09:01Still Vancouver.
09:03Listen, I need anything on a Morris Daniels,
09:06South Dakota driver's license number DK584599983.
09:12It's probably bogus.
09:13How quick you need this?
09:14I'll hold.
09:15All right, hang on.
09:16It's gonna take a minute.
09:21Oh, my God.
09:44Yeah, you're right.
09:46Morris Daniels is bogus.
09:49All right, try, uh, Michael Derhausen, Florida driver's license number 320-937-547-A.
09:59And I got a social security card and a passport.
10:03Social security number 221-36.
10:07Bingo.
10:08If a guy comes up this quick, you know you're in trouble.
10:11What do we got?
10:14Oh, boy.
10:14This guy's right at the top of the what's he up to list.
10:17A mercenary.
10:18Wherever this guy goes, the nations change their name.
10:21Rhodesia, Zaire, Biafra, the Belgian Congo.
10:24Castured out of the service.
10:26Section 8, mental case.
10:28What branch?
10:30Special Forces.
10:32Who's this commanding officer?
10:34That's gonna take a minute.
10:39Never mind.
10:40I know who it is.
10:52Bernie, use the phone.
10:55Thanks.
11:21...
11:26...
11:33...
11:34...
11:34...
11:35...
11:45Let's go.
12:08Let's go.
13:10Let's go.
13:17Let's go.
13:17Let's go.
13:17Let's go.

15:04Let's go.
15:31Let's go.
15:59Let's go.
16:06Let's go.
16:06Ah, down to business.
16:10Get in the car.
16:10Follow me.
16:11I gotta close the gate.
16:11Go go.
16:15Let's go.
16:28Let's go.
16:35What is this.
16:45Let's go.
17:13Let's go.
17:16Let's go.
17:26Let's go.
17:33Let's go.

17:47Let's go.
17:50Let's go.
17:51Let's go.
17:54Let's go.
17:58Let's go.
17:59Let's go.
17:59Let's go.
18:07Let's go.
18:09Let's go.
18:24Let's go.
18:30Let's skip formality.
18:32Attorney General Grayson, this is field director Frank McPike.
18:35Sir.
18:36And Vincent Terranova, OCB undercover operative.
18:39Jack, just call me Jack.
18:40Uh, Arthur, put that damn thing out. Let's do it.
18:43Yes, sir.
18:46Those were Gary Gilmore's last words. Let's do it.
18:50What kind of man says that to a firing squad, huh?
18:52Roger Lococo. Born in Odessa, Texas, 1950.
18:56To Bee and Honey Lococo.
18:59They were wildcatters.
19:00They hit it big about a year after Roger's birth.
19:03Now, Roger was sent to boarding school.
19:05He was six years old.
19:07Graduated at 16.
19:09Grade point average 4.0.
19:12He excelled at athletics.
19:13Forged his parents' signature and enlisted.
19:16Three tours of duty, Vietnam, 12 field citations,
19:19including the Medal of Honor.
19:21He was recruited into covert forces by a captain, Herbert Ketcher.
19:25Now, somewhere in the middle of 1974, record-wise,
19:29Lococo disappeared.
19:31He resurfaced again about a year ago
19:33in the wake of several contract murders the OCB was investigating.
19:37Agent Terranova, using his reputation,
19:39developed as a result of infiltrating the mob,
19:42made contact with Lococo.
19:44Vince?
19:46Roger Lococo worked for Mel Profitt.
19:48The arms dealer died a couple of weeks ago.
19:50Yeah.
19:51Now, in the months before he died,
19:53the arms trade seemed to dry up for no apparent reason.
19:56So Mel went back to drug trafficking to try to prop it up,
19:59but it didn't work.
20:00Now, Roger had been urging Mel to take over an island,
20:02suggesting that he could own the drug trade
20:04from the soil to the street.
20:06The more business collapsed,
20:07the more Mel bought into Roger's idea.
20:10Then he showed up one day with this finance minister
20:13from Ile Pavot, with plans for a coup using Mel's money
20:16and munitions contacts.
20:18Now, they got into some voodoo stuff I don't begin to understand,
20:22but it left both of them dead.
20:23At Agent Terranova's request, I tailed Lococo,
20:26which led to Herbert Ketcher.
20:30Now, we cross-referenced phone and travel records.
20:34Ketcher's movement duplicate Lococcos
20:36from the time Lococo became involved with profit.
20:39Why do I need to know this?
20:40Herb Ketcher is employed by the CIA.
20:44You believe you've stumbled into a covert operation?
20:47We think the Ketcher is responsible for profit's collapse.
20:50Now, yesterday in Vancouver, this man, Michael Derhausen,
20:54went to Lococo's loft and murdered his housekeeper.
20:56He also tried to assassinate Agent Terranova,
20:58who, in defending himself, killed Derhausen.
21:01Derhausen's a mercenary.
21:03His first military involvement is with Herbert Ketcher.
21:06Now, Agent Terranova searched the motel room
21:08and found, among other things, an airline ticket to El Pavot.
21:13Henri Lalonde, vocal opposition to Pavot's current leadership.
21:17Jack, there's a pretty clear suggestion
21:19of an extra-legal military action here.
21:21Nothing concrete.
21:23Jack, Herb Ketcher has security clearance to the White House.
21:26Who authorized it?
21:28Admiral Strichen.
21:29Damn. Where's Ketcher?
21:31Unknown.
21:32Lococo?
21:32Same.
21:33Spool ideologue hard sells his southern hemisphere paranoia
21:37at every cocktail party inside the beltway.
21:40Damn self-appointed patriot.
21:43What I've heard here today doesn't leave this room.
21:46Your duty, Vince, is depressingly clear.
21:50Yes, sir.
21:55Where do you start?
21:56It's a shot in the dark.
21:57Arthur, I'd like to play this a little close to the vest.
22:00Of course, Frank. Good luck.
22:02Thanks.
22:06Darehausen's ticket has him landing in El Pavot in five days.
22:09We do not have time for shots in the dark.
22:11You didn't even know what I was gonna say.
22:12Where are you going?
22:13When I'm going, I'm going by myself.
22:15Wait a second.
22:15We're working outside OCB procedure here.
22:17I am not gonna have you do that alone.
22:19Frank, you haven't been in the trenches for years.
22:22Oh, but when I was.
22:26Come on.
22:28Where are we going?
22:42Yeah, Roger brought me out here when I first hooked up with him.
22:46It was nothing of value, but it was gated and padlocked.
22:49He had these cut-out figures in the field he used for target practice.
22:53It was just like his loft.
22:56A huge and lonely feeling.
22:58Every place else I went with Roger was rich and cluttered,
23:01but that was profit.
23:02This place.
23:04This place was definitely Le Coco.
23:07I know the guys here.
23:20Four of us and those boy scouts against 1,500 men.
23:24The tricky part is here.
23:26Fifty heavily armed men guard the presidential residences.
23:30Baraka's brigades.
23:32The islanders believe they're imbued with some celestial powers.
23:35Oh, great. Caribbean Pentecostals.
23:38Bobby Carl can just go in there and preach him to death.
23:40Why don't you just shut up, Walker?
23:42Whoa, hey, hey, team.
23:44Now, our main launch will be on the garrison and the radio station.
23:48Derhausen will be on island a day ahead of us.
23:50He will set off 20 minutes of concussion grenades.
23:52Pin them down with noise.
23:55Russell will lead Le Laun and his men into the radio station.
23:57Once Le Laun broadcast, that island is ours.
24:00What about the compound of demon worshippers?
24:02M-16s married to M-203s.
24:05Their heaviest weapons are Vulcans elevated on concrete struts.
24:08Two at either frontal corner of the wall.
24:10Take them out and they're pinned inside the compound.
24:12We just hang up a sign that says Il Paavo Jail.
24:16Who is it?
24:17It's me.
24:24Guys, how's the strategy going?
24:25We don't need any help, Herb.
24:27Can I talk to you for a minute, Roger?
24:31Do your homework.
24:32No TV till you do your homework.
24:37Did you have to light a fire under Le Laun?
24:39He's having a fit because you insulted him in front of his men.
24:41This military incursion on behalf of democracy
24:44is quickly turning into Herb Ketcher's triumphant return to the Potomac.
24:47Don't come on to me, Roger.
24:49You're pulling enough cash from this operation
24:50to buy a seat on the stock exchange.
24:52Well, we all know what that's worth, don't we?
24:54Look, you've got a pusillanimous potentate on your hands, pal,
24:58and I am gritting my teeth to get through this for...
25:00I don't know why.
25:02But for the next six days, I own this show.
25:06Roger!
25:07What do you think?
25:09It's probably going to get dirty.
25:11You might want to get a change of clothing before we secure the island.
25:14These are the colors of my people.
25:17Your people.
25:18Pardon?
25:19Did Herbert explain things to you?
25:22Are we clear on this, Herbert?
25:23I was just talking to Roger.
25:25Well, Mr. Lococo?
25:30What is it?
25:32You're beautiful.
25:34Why, thank you.
25:36Yeah, beautiful.
25:46I'm sorry.
25:47Excuse me.
25:48I'm just getting two beers in the play.
25:59Well, Lococo must be here.
26:01What do you mean, must?
26:02Well, these people say they've never seen it before.
26:04You show them the photo, they all go numb.
26:07Boy, you had to do some heavy tipping to keep them all quiet.
26:09We wait.
26:10He'll come to us.
26:11Or you, anyway.
26:13It's a sure bet they told them there's a scrawny little guy
26:15with funny-looking glasses snooping around.
26:18Well, thanks for the kind words.
26:20You don't mention them.
26:25Thanks.
26:27You know, it's amazing how places stay the same.
26:33I bet when I was a field operative, I spent a thousand nights in places like this.
26:37Yeah, it just stinks, doesn't it?
26:39Mm-hmm.
26:42Now, this guy's been in every bar I've ever been in.
26:46So change seats.
26:47Oh, he'd read too much into it.
26:51Did you talk to the lifeguard?
26:52Yeah.
26:53There's an anti-terrorist team on alert in Wichita Falls.
26:56And I can be here inside of three hours.
26:58I don't want to go for warrants till we're sure we have material evidence at the hangar.
27:02Mm-hmm.
27:06You know, this guy's really bugging me.
27:08Frank, will you lighten up?
27:10At least the guy's playing with a full deck of jokers. Just relax.
27:13So what's he gonna do? He's gonna ask for a date?
27:15So why don't you call it a night, then?
27:17Now, how am I gonna sleep with all this going on?
27:19Frank, I promise you.
27:21LoCoco sleeps too.
27:27All right.
27:29I'm gonna get some rest.
27:33Don't forget to chain lock your door.
28:06No, no, no, no...
28:12I can't just get up now.
28:16Like this guy, we need a one-to-be.
28:16No, no, no.
28:17I Lei, my heart, my heart...
28:21Not well.
28:25Last call, everybody.
28:32How important is he to you?
28:35Inside his suit, the label says Sid Shack.
28:39Secaucus, New Jersey.
28:40Now, really, Vince, how close can you get to that kind of bad taste?
28:44Is he alive?
28:46It's your call, Buckwheat.
28:51You never did like that, did you?
28:55A couple of beers, please.
28:57We're closed.
29:02Right away.
29:03Mr. McPike is fine. He'll be released when we leave.
29:08Roger, why are you doing this?
29:11Why? Why is a question you and I stopped asking ourselves a long time ago, Vince.
29:16I didn't.
29:18Well, maybe you should.
29:20There's a lot of pain involved with that question.
29:22But the pain is there, Roger.
29:25The difference between you and me is I deal with it.
29:27You blind yourself to it, but don't tell me it doesn't hurt.
29:30You can save that for your buddies.
29:32I can't afford the doubt that comes with that question.
29:35No, no, you can't afford the truth that comes with it.
29:41You stay out of this.
29:46No, I want an answer.
29:48How do you go from medal of honor to mercenary?
29:51At what point do you kiss off the nation for these dirty little wars?
29:55I live in a thicket infested by zealots bent on the bloodletting of this nation.
30:01They raise a glass of sake to the rising sun and plummet zeros filled with dynamite into our fathers.
30:07They beat themselves with chains until they arrive at a narcotized state.
30:11Then they shout, Allah, and drive truckloads of explosives into our brothers.
30:17They thump Marxist manifestos like some backwater evangelist and carve away half of Europe enslaving our cousins.
30:23Now, they want what we have, but they don't want to arrive at it by initiative.
30:28They want it by insurrection.
30:34These are the residents of Mr. LoCoco's neighborhood.
30:37It's a scum-ridden place to live, but I live there to stop them.
30:41I don't see myself as kissing off this nation.
30:46I see myself as protecting it.
30:53Who were you protecting when you had your housekeeper killed?
31:00It was bad, Roger.
31:05She took a load of buckshot point blank.
31:09Who did it?
31:11Derhausen.
31:12But he didn't get so lucky with me.
31:16Is he dead?
31:17Yeah.
31:18And they're both laying in your loft.
31:21I followed Ketcher back there.
31:23And he saw the bodies.
31:24And you know what?
31:26He left laughing.
31:31Another blow struck for democracy, huh, Raj?
31:36I want McPike back.
31:42You okay, man?
31:47Yeah.
31:51Vince!
32:08Where the hell have you been all night?
32:10You lost your senses?
32:12Look what I find in the motorhome.
32:13Huh?
32:17Now, you're the only man I know who likes to invite his liabilities home for supper.
32:22He's got to go.
32:24Where's Derhausen?
32:25Did you hear a word I said?
32:26Every paltry syllable.
32:28Where's Derhausen?
32:29He's always been unreliable.
32:31I don't know where he is.
32:32You may have to go without him.
32:33Now, this guy's got to go.
32:35If this is a shouting match, I win.
32:38I'm on the phone with the chairman of the Unified Bottling Corporation.
32:43How can I conduct business?
32:45Uh, uh, I'm sorry.
32:47You can imagine the chaos that comes with this kind of operation.
32:52Uh, don't be hesitant about labor.
32:54The ball is full of willing workers.
32:57Yes, they make too much now.
33:00I'm certain they will accept cutbacks to help expand your business.
33:04I can be very persuasive if you're properly motivated.

37:15packed up.
37:16Of course.
37:16I intended to.
37:20All our ducks ready to go?
37:25Derhousen never showed.
37:26Don't start, Roger.
37:28That's the equivalent of a 20% loss in manpower.
37:30The team isn't happy.
37:31I had to call in a last-minute replacement.
37:36And Cicerone said there's no room for two Italians on the team,
37:40so I had to call in another designated hitter.
37:50Hello, Herb.
37:52What the hell is this, Roger?
37:56What are you doing to me?
38:00What?
38:04Training weapon, Herb.
38:06You don't think we trust the boys with real-life bullets, do you?
38:09You blew the mission.
38:11You traitor!
38:13You dirty bastard!
38:15Good!
38:16Good!
38:17That's what I wanted to see!
38:18How's it feel, Herb?
38:20Hit him!
38:22Kill him!
38:28Frank!
38:39Come on, get out of here.
38:42Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you boys are in custody.
38:45Frank!
38:46It's part of the deal.
38:47What deal?
38:48My deal with Roger for your safety and for him.
38:51If they walk?
38:52That's right.
38:54No, these boys aren't going to walk.
38:56They're mercenaries.
38:57God only knows what they can be charged with.
38:59You have no authority to make that decision.
39:01Well, who does?
39:02Your life was on the line.
39:03These men are faced with capital charges.
39:05You had no right to trade me for them.
39:07It's all I had.
39:08Go on, go ahead, get out of here.
39:10You get out of the car.
39:11We're going to fire.
39:12Frank, I told you it's part of the deal.
39:15Now you shoot them, you're going to have to shoot me too.
39:21I've seen the price you have to pay to let other people
39:23make decisions for you.
39:26How's it feel, Roger?
39:29You ever had your skin cut back?
39:32Far enough to see the bone?
39:42Get out.
39:55You're a dead man, Roger.
39:59I know that, Herr.
40:01Don't do it, Roger.
40:02Stay back, Vince.
40:02This is my day.
40:04Roger, listen to me.
40:05If he lives, I'll parade him through the streets
40:07like a caged monkey.
40:08His name will be a curse.
40:10Come on, Vince.
40:12You know when all this flack dies down,
40:14he'll get his own talk show.
40:16No, no, look at him.
40:17Look at what he's holding.
40:18He's got all the evidence of a coup with his fingerprints
40:20all over it.
40:25You know what you're holding, don't you, Buckwheat?
40:31All the aerial photographs.
40:33All the money for your democratic coup
40:37to make Il Pervo safe for the bottling company.
40:41You tell me, Herb.
40:43You just tell me where it's worth dying for life, liberty,
40:48and the pursuit of soda pop.
40:52All those subversives, huh?
40:55All those subversives trying to stop America
40:58from having a cold, wet one.
40:59Yeah.
41:04Fifteen years, Captain!
41:09For what?
41:11Destiny?
41:13For our children!
41:16I don't have any children.
41:19I don't have any family.
41:22I don't think of you as a father anymore, Herb.
41:24Our relationship has been sort of, uh, inadequate.
41:29I have nothing!
41:31Nothing!
41:35Except Mel profits money.
41:40That's right, Herb.
41:42I am one rich son of a bitch.
41:47I mean, maybe that's what it's all about, huh?
41:49Money, money, money, money, money.
41:52You and I, we used to believe in something.
41:58I don't know.
41:59Maybe that's why they put the president's face
42:01in our damn money.
42:08I mean, do you know anybody in Il Pervo?
42:11Do you really believe this clown is the hope of his nation?
42:15Do you give a damn?
42:18No?
42:24No.
42:25No, no, no.
42:29Animal.
42:31This is for Preet.
42:34No!
42:35No!
42:36No!
42:37No!
42:38No!
42:39Roger, Roger, don't.
42:42I'm a dead man, Vince.
42:44Whoever this man answers to, they're coming after me.
42:46I want the satisfaction of knowing that he is gone.
42:49And I want the whole pie, Roger.
42:51And you're about to take that away from me.
42:54Listen to me.
42:55If he slips through and they manage to hit you,
42:59I swear on my family, I'll kill them myself.
43:04No!
43:23No!
43:33Oh!
43:44OK, sport, let's go.
43:46I'm the president of a government in exile.
43:49Oh, yeah, you're doing a hell of a job.
44:09So you reported to Ketcher, but who did he report to?
44:15Who's between striking and Ketcher?
44:18I don't know.
44:19You don't know the next in command?
44:21Come on, Vince.
44:23Succeeding for us depends on compartmentalizing.
44:27Roger, there's a difference between compartmentalizing
44:30and being sealed off.
44:31Now, when did Ketcher isolate you?
44:33He didn't isolate me.
44:37After Saigon fell, I was running some covert operations,
44:41and I traveled under phony passports.
44:43Well, who'd you report to?
44:46Ketcher.
44:49Did you ever know who Ketcher answered to?
44:58It's been over 10 years.
45:02Now, you traveled under aliases for over 10 years,
45:05answered only to Herb Ketcher, and you don't think
45:08you've been isolated.
45:15I hate him.
45:19Roger.
45:21Why was your housekeeper killed?
45:26Preet.
45:31Preet was a Chinese hooker in Quang Tri.
45:38Ketcher was using her, sometimes for days.
45:46A couple of operations he tried running were ambushed.
45:49He blamed her.
45:52He ordered me to kill her.
45:56I couldn't.
46:00God.
46:04She made me feel so good.
46:08I was 17, and I didn't know you could be touched like that.
46:18I couldn't kill her.
46:21I couldn't.
46:26So Captain Ketcher ordered me to cut out her tongue.
46:40I was 17.
46:46I never forgave myself, so I took care of her.
46:53She took care of me.
46:58Preet.
47:02Forgive me.
47:05Please.
47:08Forgive me.
47:11Forgive me.
47:14Forgive me.
47:17Forgive me.
47:34Forgive me.
47:51Bye.
47:53Bye.
47:56Bye.
47:58Bye.
48:02справва.
48:03Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
