00:00So, J.Y., I want to start with the Lakers-Thunder series
00:05because it's been a very interesting start to that series
00:11when you look at the first two basketball games.
00:14Oklahoma City have won and covered in each.
00:18And if you would have told me that,
00:21I'm not saying I would have been in disbelief,
00:24but the way it's happened in each of the two games
00:28is hard to imagine.
00:31The Lakers in the opening game of the series
00:33trailed by four points midway into the third quarter.
00:38They lose by 18.
00:41The Lakers had a third quarter lead in game number two.
00:46They lose by 18.
00:50Usually, you know, if you're going to get the amount of points
00:53that they're getting, right, Coach 15 and a half,
00:55you're either going to get your doors blown off
00:57or you're going to hang around that number.
01:00The Lakers are hanging around, hanging around,
01:04and then basically Jared McCain comes in
01:07for a little Steph Curry tribute act.
01:10And these things end up just outside the distance here.
01:15It's incredible to think that the Lakers have,
01:17in some areas, played well
01:20and not only find themselves, you know, in that 2-0 hole,
01:24but they haven't covered yet.
01:26Yeah, and it's something where when you play a team
01:29like Oklahoma City, you have to maintain it for 48 minutes.
01:34And the Lakers have shown an ability for 24, 28 minutes
01:38to stay the course.
01:40But the problem is, is they don't have necessarily the depth
01:45to keep up with Oklahoma City.
01:48At some point, it's almost like you know the dam is going to break
01:53at some point, and you hold on for dear life.
01:56Now, you hope that going back to your own home building,
02:00role players play better, bench guys play better,
02:04their role players play a little bit worse,
02:06you're sleeping in your own bed, you play a little bit better.
02:09So, now the Lakers have to do it and just stay in the game
02:13and keep the fans involved.
02:15And, you know, obviously McCain has done a great job,
02:18you know, coming in and doing his little act.
02:20But that's also a lot to be said on what he should,
02:26or where he should be right now.
02:28And that's a story for another segment,
02:30because it seems like there's a team out east
02:32that can really use some kind of bench production.
02:36You're not wrong, and we will talk Sixers next, undoubtedly.
02:40And, you know, that team giving up, I think giving up is fair.
02:46On McCain, you know, finding a way to cut some money,
02:49and the postseason playing out the way it has is absolutely brutal.
02:53Out of Philadelphia and Daryl Morey, just kind of call it what it is.
02:57You know, you're right.
02:58The Lakers are not deep enough to hang, really, with this Thunder team.
03:02But the Lakers are also selling out to stop Shea,
03:07which has created, you know, a really interesting setup, right?
03:11They're not getting smoked in the Shea minutes.
03:15I'm not saying that JJ doesn't have a plan for when Shea isn't out there,
03:19but whatever it is, it's not as effective, right?
03:23SGA's individual offensive rating is 100.
03:27That's not very good.
03:29Yet the Thunder's offensive rating for the series is 123.4.
03:35So defensively, the Lakers are doing an excellent job
03:39on the soon-to-be back-to-back MVP.
03:43They're kind of doing a bad job everywhere else.
03:46They also are running into an issue of, you know,
03:52who are we really relying on, right?
03:56LeBron has, I think, been the first or second best player in this series.
04:01It's either him or Chet.
04:04Austin Reeves put up a stinker is, I mean,
04:11not even close to doing it justice how bad he was in game one.
04:15And quite honestly, I know he was very efficient
04:18and gave you 31 in game two.
04:20I thought he was pretty bad as well.
04:21Well, he's completely out of control.
04:23And I thought the minus 20, worst of anybody on the floor,
04:26was somewhat telling of the way he played.
04:31And then all of a sudden, you're like,
04:32oh, I'm relying on Marcus Smart and what happened to Luke Kennard
04:38and your boy, Denominating, who can give you a...
04:43He had three points on one of seven shooting.
04:46So, the reality is, once again, the Laker roster isn't good enough.
04:52And I don't think that Luka Doncic would...
04:56I mean, it would help.
04:57I'm not going to say it would...
04:58Of course, it would help, right?
05:00But I think people should remember that if you, you know,
05:04oh, let's turn injuries off for this series,
05:07the Lakers would still be catching 10 in every single one of these games, J.Y.
05:12So, the Lakers would still be catching 10 in every single one of these games.
