Angry words were exchanged outside Mandurah court today, after a man accused of abusing children while working for the Department of Communities appeared on more charges. Barry Wayne Lawrence has now been charged with offences involving multiple alleged victims.

00:41He was initially charged last year with offences related to one alleged teenage victim,
00:47with police saying Mr Lawrence was working for the Department of Communities when they occurred between 2022 and 2025.
00:54In March he was charged with eight more offences, with the victim alleged to be a male teenager in 2012.
01:00Mr Lawrence is yet to enter any pleas and will return to court next month.
