00:00In Honduras, Nasri Afura marked 100 days in government and made strong criticism both in-country as abroad
00:05following his imposition of neoliberal policies and dismantling of social programs.
00:10Our correspondent, Gerardo Torres, has the details.
00:14Honduras President Nasri Afura has arrived to his first 100 days in office,
00:19receiving a lot of criticism inside and outside the country.
00:22In Honduras, the increase of energy bill has gone through the roof
00:27after this government has changed the social programs that allow that more than 1 million poor Hondurans
00:34could have free energy because it was declared a human right.
00:37The change of contracts that now are benefiting, again, only big business and not the entirety of the population
00:43have created an increase of prices and this added with the increase of oil prices
00:49due to the war of the United States against Iran has already had in less than four months
00:55a general impact of more than 40% in the increase of household goods.
01:01Also, in Honduras, in the last weeks, there's been an increase in violence rates
01:08which has now bring a lot of criticism against this new government.
01:14In the international sphere, the journalistic investigation known as Honduras Gate
01:20has presented a series of audio files in which supposedly the former president of Honduras,
01:26Juan Juan Hernández, was part of an international conspiracy that involved also
01:30President of the United States Donald Trump and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu
01:35in the conspiracy against the general elections of the past November 30th
01:41with the objective to put Nazareth Cura in office by any means necessary.
01:47The investigation continues.
01:49Now other names of right-wing leaders are being mentioned like Javier Milay, president of Argentina.
01:56And what the conspiracy has shown until now is that money from Israel to the United States
02:03or directly to Latin American countries has paid lobbies, has paid strategies,
02:10and has paid a strategy to try to destabilize socialist or progressive governments in the region,
02:18reinforcing ultra-conservative political leaders or forces,
02:22and now are pointing for Colombia and Brazil that have elections this year
02:27and also is pointing to destabilize the Mexican government.
02:33So as Fura Sable, his first days in office, is receiving a lot of heat inside Honduras and outside Honduras
02:39and he wasn't even in the country to present a report at the beginning of his government.
02:46Instead, he visited some cities in the United States
02:50and in the last days he has been working with influencers, tiktokers,
02:54trying to improve an image that outside and inside the country has already received strong impacts.
03:02From the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa, Portora Sur in English, I'm Gerardo Torres Zelaya.
