00:00Tonight on The Proof Is Out There, Alien Edition.
00:04A strange sphere hovers silently above a house.
00:08Are extraterrestrials secretly watching us?
00:11Just kind of suspended up there in the air.
00:13No propulsion, no engine, no noise.
00:15Doesn't it look like it's flying with it?
00:18Yeah, it's going weird, yeah.
00:20Two bright orbs appear after a rocket launches.
00:23Could aliens be following our spacecraft?
00:26Some might wonder whether extraterrestrials
00:28are getting concerned that we're starting
00:30to really encroach on their territory.
00:33And are probes being sent from another world
00:35disguised as something else?
00:38We thought, okay, this can't be like a normal drone.
00:41This is a UFO, so I'm sorry.
00:44With UFO reports at an all-time high,
00:47we're examining the most compelling evidence caught on camera.
00:50Tonight's focus, alien surveillance.
00:53Our experts will analyze the evidence
00:56and then pass a verdict.
00:58Could it be some type of an extraterrestrial craft
01:00and not just a meteorite?
01:02Intelligent life is visiting Earth,
01:04and it's masquerading or using meteors
01:07as a form of transportation.
01:08The Proof starts now.
01:18Good evening, everyone,
01:19and welcome to The Proof Is Out There.
01:21Under a clear night sky,
01:22you can expect to see between two and seven streaks of light
01:26go by each hour on any night of the year.
01:29These flashes are meteorites burning up in the Earth's atmosphere.
01:33But there are some who believe that in reality,
01:36these meteorites are more than they seem to be.
01:40August 31st, 2019.
01:42It's 10.30 p.m. just outside the city of Edmonton, Canada.
01:47Lincoln Ho is hanging out at a neighbor's house watching TV
01:49when he sees a bright light flash outside the window.
01:53Lincoln later goes home and checks his driveway security footage.
01:57And that's when he finds this.
01:59An orb of light screams from the top of the frame,
02:02plummeting toward the house before vanishing.
02:05According to journalist MJ Benias,
02:08while this phenomenon seems to have all of the hallmarks of a meteor strike,
02:12one thing is missing.
02:13There was no reported impact.
02:16A meteor hitting the Earth is going to make a big boom.
02:19There was no sound, no explosion.
02:22And no one on the news had reported a meteor hitting Edmonton, Alberta.
02:26But what if we have a meteor that really isn't a meteor?
02:30Benias says one man believes it may be possible.
02:33A very famous Harvard physicist and astronomer named Avi Loeb has a theory that intelligent life is
02:40visiting Earth and it's masquerading or using meteors as a form of transportation.
02:46In 2017, Professor Avi Loeb and others took notice of a quarter-mile-long
02:51cigar-shaped object that passed through the solar system.
02:54Its glow varied ten times more reflective than typical asteroids,
02:57as if it was made of highly polished metal.
03:00It was dubbed Oumuamua, which means scout in Hawaiian.
03:03Loeb suspected it could have been alien tech.
03:05He also insists alien tech hasn't just approached Earth via meteor.
03:10It actually landed here.
03:12He believes that there is evidence on this planet that alien civilizations exist
03:17and they've set their technology here.
03:19In July 2023, Avi Loeb led a $1.5 million expedition to Papua New Guinea
03:25to retrieve meteor fragments he believes came from outside the solar system.
03:30Loeb theorizes that pieces of the debris will be found to be tougher than iron,
03:35and should raise questions. Could it be some type of an extraterrestrial craft
03:39and not just a meteorite?
03:41Upon sifting microscopic metallic balls from the volcanic material on the ocean floor,
03:46Loeb declared them actual evidence of alien tech.
03:50One recent study put the odds of other life in the universe at 50-50.
03:55But is this object an interstellar vehicle disguised as a meteor or something else entirely?
04:01We asked our team of experts to investigate.
04:07Could this bright light simply be something conventional seen in the skies over cities
04:12every night like a helicopter or a plane?
04:14The only time that you would see an aircraft of any kind of helicopter that bright moving
04:19through the sky that fast as if it's in serious trouble and about to crash.
04:23No chopper crashes were reported in that area.
04:26Instead, D'Antonio believes a clue in the video leads to the answer.
04:30The sky is illuminated behind this house here, which tells you something important.
04:35That's saying that this is an object big enough to be beyond these houses,
04:40because it's illuminating the sky behind them.
04:42And what could possibly be natural that looks like that?
04:46Something that we call, in astronomy, a fireball.
04:50Fireballs refer to meteors so bright they can be seen over great distances.
04:55The intense atmospheric friction causes gases around the meteor to compress and superheat,
05:00often disintegrating the meteor and leaving little evidence on ground.
05:04The regular, typical meteor you see in the night sky, that quick flash,
05:07whoosh, those are the size of a grain of sand.
05:10And so this is way bigger than a grain of sand.
05:13So you can imagine that the glow created by this is going to be absolutely colossal.
05:19D'Antonio makes a convincing argument,
05:22and one that NASA geologist Bob Anderson agrees seems likely, at first.
05:27When I first looked at this video,
05:28it was almost a dead giveaway that it was a meteor that was coming down.
05:32But it's weird to me that there was no sonic boom.
05:35The size of this object, the brightness of this object,
05:37would have created a sonic boom somewhere in the atmosphere.
05:46Our verdict? We're going with unexplained phenomenon.
05:50While our experts have suggested some very interesting and plausible candidates,
05:54there seems to be a heated debate about what we've really got.
05:57So without a smoking gun, we're going to say, for now, this incident remains a mystery.
06:03But what do you think? Hit us up on social media and let us know.
06:09Since its first rocket achieved orbit in 2008,
06:13SpaceX has continued to innovate and push the boundary of space exploration.
06:18And while CEO Elon Musk hopes to bring humans to Mars as soon as 2029,
06:24video from one SpaceX mission has raised concerns about what might await us in the final frontier.
06:31Mission and liftoff.
06:35It's April 23rd, 2021. SpaceX's spacecraft Endeavour is on its way to the International Space Station.
06:43Twelve minutes after liftoff, the capsule containing four astronauts separates from the rocket's second stage.
06:49But as the crew back at NASA applauds the successful uncoupling,
06:53the live stream camera captures something truly shocking.
06:57A foreign object can be seen floating through the gap, missing the craft by mere seconds.
07:02The object is round, though not a perfect sphere.
07:05And it appears to be black in color, but its details are shrouded in shadow.
07:10It looks like if they hadn't separated in the nick of time, it would have impacted the spacecraft.
07:15And no one knows what it is. It's not an object anyone was tracking in orbit,
07:20so no one knew that it was going to be there.
07:22One theory that gains traction is that the object is some sort of scout
07:26UFO that originally came from a larger UFO.
07:30Basically, the idea is that alien craft are exploring our planet,
07:34and instead of landing with the mothership, they're launching these small reconnaissance vehicles,
07:40which is not that dissimilar to how we've explored our own solar system.
07:44Think that's too out there?
07:46Consider that Sean Kirkpatrick, former head of the Pentagon's UFO office,
07:50and Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb wrote a paper to support the theory.
07:55But what could be drawing the interstellar attention?
07:58Our use of space used to be just scientific exploration, but now we've got space tourism,
08:04we've got early militarization.
08:05In fact, 2022 saw a record 180 rocket launches.
08:11Some might wonder whether extraterrestrials are getting concerned that we're starting to
08:16really encroach on their territory.
08:20SpaceX is reportedly involved in over half of all near misses in space.
08:26Many of all SpaceX's Starlink project, an unmanned satellite internet network.
08:32But a near miss with a spacecraft carrying four astronauts?
08:36Now we're talking about human lives.
08:38So is something targeting our spacecraft?
08:41Our experts are on a collision course with the truth.
08:48Before we embrace an exotic theory like alien space probes,
08:53could this be a hostile act from a rival human military?
08:57In the late 1970s, the Soviet Union did experiment with something called the ALMAs,
09:03which was putting a 23-millimeter cannon on one of their satellite systems
09:09to give it an offensive capability.
09:11And in the 1980s, as part of President Reagan's Star Wars initiative,
09:17was a classified program called Brilliant Pebbles.
09:20The idea behind it was to place various missile systems in orbit as a defensive and offensive capability.
09:28Could this foreign object be from a foreign power?
09:32If someone had fired a weapon at the capsule, we would know.
09:36Because a satellite system that's firing some type of projectiles
09:40would certainly be noticeable to the other space-based sensor systems that are already in place.
09:46What about another man-made object, a satellite?
09:48It's got none of the physical characteristics of a satellite, like the large solar sail.
09:54In addition to the fact that satellite systems are on known trajectory paths,
09:59and you certainly wouldn't have run the risk of an impact from the satellite.
10:03So it's definitely not a satellite.
10:05Taking into consideration this object's organic shape,
10:08we asked astronomer Mark D'Antonio if it could be a meteor.
10:12This might actually be about the right size for a meteor.
10:14The only problem is that meteors hit the Earth at thousands and thousands of miles per hour.
10:21And this thing is just lazily floating through the view, so that wouldn't be the case.
10:26Then could it simply be space junk?
10:29Scientists estimate orbiting the Earth are about 13,000 pieces of debris bigger than a softball,
10:35100,000 bigger than a penny, and tens of millions of pieces even smaller than that.
10:42Space is cluttered.
10:43There could come a time when it will be very dangerous for us to try and leave our planet.
10:49But in this particular case, probably not space junk.
10:54And the reason comes down to the fact that you can see it passing in front of this,
10:58which is part of the rocket itself.
11:01That means this is a small, tiny object that got loose, probably from the inside of the rocket,
11:08during the staging process, where this stage moves away from this stage.
11:12And Macmillan says this would explain the radar omission.
11:15That's one reason that you wouldn't have picked it up as any type of space junk,
11:20is because it actually traveled with the rocket into space.
11:31Our verdict? We are leaning toward rocket debris that broke off from the second stage,
11:36though we can't say for certain which piece of the rocket it was.
11:40It's sad to hear that pollution is becoming a problem in space like it is on Earth.
11:45Thankfully, NASA is well equipped to help spacecraft dodge most of the debris,
11:49with a meticulous catalog of 27,000 objects in Earth's orbit.
11:57We see UFOs in all shapes and sizes on this show.
12:00But lately, we've been noticing a real spike in spherical UFOs.
12:05Many of these sightings were captured by U.S. military cameras.
12:09And this next puzzling video also purports to show something spherical,
12:12interacting with American jet fighters.
12:16Should the Pentagon be alarmed?
12:18January 10th, 2023. A video clip captioned,
12:22nothing to see here, uploads to social media and goes viral.
12:27The video appears to show a dark-colored, low-flying spherical object
12:32passing over a remote country road.
12:35Suddenly, two fighter jets scream toward the object in hot pursuit as the object disappears.
12:41Let's see that again.
12:43The sphere looks to be only about 15 to 20 feet off the ground,
12:48which would make it much smaller in size than the fighter jets.
12:52The 50s had flying saucers. The 90s had black triangles.
12:55We live in the era of the sphere UFO.
13:00There was a hearing in April of 2023 where Sean Kirkpatrick presented to Senate a graph between the
13:07date of 1996 and 2023, and 52% of all UFO sightings that the Arrow office has been investigating were
13:15made up of
13:16spherical or orb-like UFOs.
13:20While not every orb sighting is this dramatic, they can still be quite puzzling.
13:25Case in point, this footage from December 19th, 2022.
13:29Rad Marad Pajowie is in Mountains Edge, Nevada, driving home from work.
13:33When he spots something unusual in the sky, he pulls over to record it.
13:38The video shows a perfectly circular dark-colored object hovering high up above a house.
13:44It was a pretty large, uh, spherical, definitely spherical, like, black dot in the sky.
13:51It didn't really have any gloss. It didn't reflect any light.
13:54Unlike the orb in the first video, this sphere is completely eerily still.
13:59Just kind of suspended up there in the air. No propulsion, no engine, no noise.
14:05So what are these spheres? Many seem too small to carry occupants.
14:10So are they perhaps some kind of alien probe?
14:12If so, there may be a surprising reason why we're seeing so many.
14:16With this uptick in spherical sightings, there's been a lot of internet chatter
14:21about this sort of science fiction object called a van Neumann probe.
14:27John von Neumann was a mathematician and physicist who speculated an advanced civilization could explore
14:33by creating probes that build even more probes from common materials found on moons and planets
14:39throughout the galaxy.
14:40Ben Neumann posited that if an interstellar species wanted to essentially map out a star system
14:48or-or-or distant planets, one probe could replicate itself as it traveled through space.
14:55Now, while more than half of UFOs are reported as round or spheres, they don't all look or act the
15:03same.
15:03We'll turn it over to our inner circle to investigate these two very different sphere sightings.
15:14The sphere is located very close to the ground. Usually, these encounters take play high up in the atmosphere.
15:21And so there's something suspicious here.
15:24The object that is flying extremely low level, it's flying underneath the kind of envelope that radar
15:30would be operating at because of how low altitude it is, its small size, and its relatively slow speed.
15:37But it's that speed that has astronomer and video effects designer Mark D'Antonio crying foul.
15:43Let's watch that again, because see how it's moving through the sky? Kind of slow.
15:49And the jets are going way fast. Now, hold on.
15:52If they were going that fast, they should have caught up to it very quickly.
15:56But we didn't see them catch up to it.
16:00Not only can't the jets catch the orb, but the orb suddenly disappears from sight.
16:06There is one way it could happen, and that is if this object wasn't there at all and was generated
16:12later.
16:12I have to say, unfortunately, I don't believe it was a real video.
16:16That first video may seem too good to be true, but what about Rad's video?
16:21D'Antonio thinks he's found the answer by simply spotting what the eyewitness seems to have missed.
16:26Down the bottom here, you can see there's this little protrusion sticking down, okay?
16:31And it doesn't show until you actually run the video and see the video in motion.
16:36Then you can see it, like right there is a perfect shot of it.
16:39You can see this little tiny thing sticking down.
16:41I think that we're looking at a tethered balloon.
16:51Our verdict? The first video is a clever product of CGI.
16:55In fact, when we did a little digging, we were able to trace it back to a visual effects artist.
17:00As for Rad's video, we agree with D'Antonio.
17:04We're most likely looking at a balloon.
17:06So these two spheres weren't genuine UFOs.
17:09But many others remain unexplained, as does the recent uptick in sightings.
17:16Now for one of our favorite kinds of stories, the kind you send us.
17:22History's first satellite, Sputnik, was launched into orbit almost 70 years ago by the USSR.
17:28But there's a group of UFO theorists who insist there's a satellite up there that's older.
17:33In fact, ancient.
17:34And one hardcore proof fan thinks he caught it on camera.
17:39It's November 2018.
17:41Nikos Voorhees is walking with his daughter, Nika, along the beach in Cape Town, South Africa.
17:47Around 7 p.m., Nika spies something strange in the air.
17:51Something that may have been watching us for centuries.
17:55This is a UFO of some sort.
17:58Look closely.
18:00A strange, malleable, black shape hovers high above Nikos and his family.
18:06It seems to float without obvious direction, silently holding position.
18:11We thought, okay, this can't be like a normal drone.
18:14It's just hovering there.
18:16It did weird and wonderful maneuvers like that, like by going the vertically, then horizontal, then vertical again.
18:21It was just amazing, like, to see.
18:23But while many, at first sight, would think this is a drone, or possibly a spy balloon, Nikos believes it's
18:30something much more extraordinary.
18:32I'm an untrained observer, but in terms of what I saw, it was very much the reminiscent of the Black
18:39Knight satellite.
18:41What is the Black Knight satellite?
18:44The Black Knight satellite is a UFO theory that's been bouncing around since before the Internet.
18:49Believers say the satellite is an alien surveillance and communication device that has been in a polar orbit for thousands
18:57of years,
18:58inserting itself into human history when it sees fit.
19:01Some people have even gone so far as to say that this satellite is what Nikola Tesla was communicating with
19:08during his radio experiments in Colorado Springs in 1899.
19:12He heard some kind of frequency, and some people believe that he was actually speaking to the Black Knight satellite,
19:19and it was communicating with him through math, using numbers as the universal language.
19:24For years, this remained a science fiction theory that was kind of cool, kind of scary, but still just a
19:30theory, until a strange object was spotted about 200 miles above the Earth.
19:35In 1998, during the STS-88 mission, astronauts photographed something hovering above the Earth's horizon line, and this became a
19:45big mystery.
19:46Some people have used this photograph as definitive proof that there are aliens interacting with our planet.
19:53For many, what makes the Black Knight satellite so compelling is the logic behind it.
19:58But if an alien race wanted to study the Earth, why wouldn't they send a probe, the same way NASA
20:04sent Voyager 1 to explore other planets in our solar system?
20:08So what is this thing? ET satellite? Balloon? Or something else?
20:18Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy is a Black Knight skeptic.
20:21He says the most famous piece of evidence that 1998 NASA photo was more a visual trick than proof of
20:28alien spacecraft.
20:29It's outside of the window of the space shuttle that was not in direct sunlight, so it appears dark against
20:36the bright contrast of the Earth and the surrounding space.
20:40It seems to be just a normal piece of space debris.
20:43Astronaut Jerry Ross, who took part in the STS-88 mission, confirms the object from the 1998 photo is a
20:50wayward thermal blanket that broke loose while his team tried to attach an American module to a Russian module on
20:56the ISS.
20:57But just because the 1998 picture can be debunked, we still have to ask, could Nikos' footage be of a
21:04genuine alien satellite?
21:05I don't think this is a satellite. We simply wouldn't be able to see a satellite at that distance, but
21:11the closest satellites from Earth are about 200 miles up.
21:15The International Space Station is the largest satellite that's up there, and you can only really see that as a
21:22dot of light, and you can't see it at all during the daytime.
21:25Could the object Nikos captured be a spy balloon?
21:28It could be a spy balloon. Typically, a spy balloon would have something dangling underneath it,
21:34but it could be a type of spy balloon where the payload is actually attached to the balloon itself.
21:40In February 2023, U.S. military jets shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon.
21:46The 200-foot-tall balloon had multiple antennas and a solar array that government officials say was capable of capturing
21:53imagery and signals from military sites and sending them back to China in real time.
21:59Did Nikos see one over South Africa?
22:01This object doesn't fit the profile of a spy balloon because it's way too obvious.
22:05Those balloons are much higher altitude and usually white to blend in with the sky and to reflect the sun's
22:12energy back out and not over heat.
22:14So if it's not spying on us, could it be another type of balloon?
22:18A solo balloon is a type of hot air balloon which uses the heat of the sun to warm up
22:26a balloon, and they do that by making the balloon out of black plastic.
22:29Because black absorbs heat, the air trapped in the balloon expands, creating lift.
22:35I think we can rule that out because the shape of this object would be consistent if it was.
22:40As the air heats, the material around it becomes taut and can no longer change its shape.
22:46So while it might not be a functioning inflated solar balloon, could Nikos's Black Knight satellite simply be a deflated
22:54balloon or even airborne trash caught in the air currents?
22:58Pilots are always seeing things like balloons or windblown debris, things like plastic bags.
23:04This is one of the big problems the UAP task force had, which was dealing with airborne clutter.
23:12Our verdict? A trash bag or balloon caught in air currents.
23:17Sorry Nikos, this might not be the sexiest answer, but because of its size, movement, and through process of elimination,
23:24that's what we have to conclude.
23:29We've heard of malware and spyware, but what about alienware?
23:33Some scientists have actually raised concerns that aliens could potentially hack our planet by directing malicious signals and messages to
23:41our electronic devices and telescopes.
23:44Is that what happens in our next video? Have a look.
23:48It's just past 8 p.m. on September 11, 2020, in Whittier, California.
23:53A man is working at home on his laptop when suddenly his computer experiences electrical interference as he hears a
23:59strange buzzing noise outside.
24:00He decides to check the footage from his surveillance system, and that's when he sees this.
24:05A bright light shoots up into the sky. Let's see that again.
24:11Look behind the trees as a sudden flash is followed by a spherical light shooting upward.
24:16Then, suddenly, streaks of light and shadow crisscross the neighborhood, followed by a bright flash and car alarms going off.
24:23Wait a minute. Bright lights, electrical interference, and buzzing noises?
24:27According to journalist MJ Benias, many believe these are all classic signs of something from another world.
24:33We have in a lot of UFO stories that they use some sort of electromagnetic frequency for their propulsion,
24:41interfering with the electrical systems of automobiles or homes or your cell phone.
24:46And in this video, we see the car alarm going off, and we see a disruption on camera.
24:52If this was an electrical alien attack, Benias says it might not be the first time.
24:56There's a famous UFO case in 1957 from Leveland, Texas, where a lot of people reported seeing strange UFOs flying
25:04over the town and causing issues with automobiles, electronic equipment, and just electrical systems in general.
25:12Were there any telltale signs in this experience of something more ominous than just a visiting UFO?
25:19No. According to the witness, before this incident occurred, he heard what he described as a buzzing noise.
25:25We do have within the UFO lore that people do hear strange noises before an alien spaceship
25:32is able to somehow beam them up, and buzzing is often one of them.
25:40Energy bursts from outer space disrupting civilizations? Oh, yes.
25:46In fact, on March 13, 1989, the entire province of Quebec, Canada, suffered an electrical power blackout caused by a
25:54solar storm.
25:55And today, given our even greater dependence on computers and technology, another massive solar event could be catastrophic.
26:02Let's let our experts do the threat assessment.
26:09It's theorized that UFOs have some kind of cloaking or disruption technology that would affect electronic devices.
26:16And maybe that would explain why there seems to be some kind of flickering and disruption artifacts that we're seeing
26:21in the video.
26:22However, McCarthy says that what appears to be an electronic anomaly may just be a product of the inner workings
26:28of the camera.
26:28As the light takes off into the sky, you see some kind of rolling shutter artifact coming from the camera.
26:35But that's the way these cameras operate. They scan one line at a time as they're recording.
26:41So if you get an object that's producing light that's flickering, it will show up as horizontal bars that will
26:48move up the screen like this.
26:50So what could be the source of these flickering lights?
26:53One of the things to consider is those gray cans that you see up on telephone poles.
26:57Well, these gray cans sometimes go haywire. And when they do, they melt down with a spectacular display of sound
27:05and light.
27:06And there's a lot of buzzing. And that's the sound of a transformer melting down.
27:13But the thing is, they may drop molten pieces down to the ground, but they don't actually travel through the
27:19air.
27:20Okay, so we clearly have something traveling through the air. Could it be a drone?
27:25The only kind of drone it could have been would be a racing drone.
27:28Those kind of drones can take off at such high speeds.
27:31But they're small. And you'd have to put a very, very, very bright light on it.
27:36And let's say you did that. You send it up into the air. Then what's the next step?
27:41You have that concussive shock set off car alarms.
27:43Well, that would have meant the drone exploded like a bomb. And so I was like, no, that can't really
27:49be it.
27:50When you look at the speed that it takes off and the angle it takes off at, I think it's
27:55a rocket of some kind.
27:57There goes the launch and the trees light up.
28:00D'Antonio points out two more important clues.
28:02There's a pause as it reaches terminal velocity and then boom, bright flash.
28:07What do we know that does that? The speed is consistent with the launching of a firework shell.
28:11And the thing that kind of settled me on that was the fact that car alarms are off as soon
28:17as this thing exploded.
28:19And those concussive shocks will set off car alarms.
28:23Does the specific date this happened explain fireworks?
28:27It might have been somebody on September 11th just expressing their patriotism toward America.
28:34It seems like that would be the day that somebody would play around with some fireworks.
28:49It's safe to say that aliens aren't trying to hack our computers and technology.
28:54But you may want to invest in some earplugs.
29:00In 2022, a record 57 rocket launches took place at Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying everything from satellites to astronauts into
29:09space.
29:10Every launch brings a crowd of local spectators.
29:13But we found a pair of eyewitnesses who think they may have captured launch spectators from another planet.
29:20January 31st, 2022, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying an Italian Earth observation satellite.
29:30200 miles south, a couple watches the launch from Fort Lauderdale.
29:34They're following the path of the Falcon 9 with their cell phones.
29:37When they notice, the rocket is not alone.
29:41Yeah, see there's two things?
29:42Two bright white dots of light appear to be following the rocket as it zooms through the atmosphere.
29:48Doesn't it look like it's flying with it?
29:51Yeah, it's going weird, yeah.
29:53Let's zoom in on these things.
29:55The lights appear to be orb-shaped and whether they're part of one craft or two separate craft, they appear
30:01to be tracking the rocket.
30:02There's been a lot of speculation online that this is some sort of UFO that is monitoring or surveilling the
30:09Falcon 9 launch.
30:10But why would aliens be interested in monitoring one of our rocket launches?
30:15There's been some theories posted online that perhaps they want to keep tabs on our development.
30:20The idea that alien observers track human activity isn't new.
30:24Ufologists point to the surge of sightings in the 1940s that coincided with the birth of the atomic bomb.
30:30It's estimated the year 1947 saw at least a thousand UFOs over the United States alone.
30:36Now, with private companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin stepping up their launch schedules, could ETs be taking note?
30:43Another incident was from 2021 on the crewed mission to the ISS that was launched by SpaceX.
30:49And people online were pointing to pieces of footage where there was some sort of little object following the main
30:56capsule.
30:56As part of the Falcon 9 rocket separated from the spacecraft, a spherical object flew through the gap and a
31:03close call heard round the internet.
31:06People were saying that these are indications of alien activity.
31:09So it's a big subculture within the UFO community at large of people who kind of monitor live feeds from
31:16rocket launches and NASA missions and whatnot and assert that this is evidence of some sort of alien research or
31:23surveillance.
31:26So, is Earth just one of the exhibits on display in some alien civilization's galactic zoo?
31:32Well, scientists estimate there could be about 100 billion other planets in our galaxy alone.
31:38So it's reasonable to assume we aren't alone in the universe.
31:41But does this video prove we're being watched?
31:44Let's see what our experts have to say.
31:51They're looking at a rocket as it leaves the Earth's atmosphere.
31:54You would expect to see what we're seeing there.
31:57However, you wouldn't expect to see other bright objects appear in close proximity to it.
32:03I could certainly see why that would look like a UFO.
32:05But is it a UFO?
32:07I think even though certain aspects look very odd, they're all man-made objects.
32:12They're all associated with the Falcon 9 rocket launches.
32:15So we're not looking at a UFO.
32:17We're not looking at any alien technology or anything like that.
32:22Macmillan thinks these two lights may be rocket boosters, which separate from the rocket after their fuel has been depleted
32:28to minimize dead weight.
32:30That type of debris is going to burn up as it's coming down, or you're just seeing the reflection off
32:35of it.
32:35So it may look brighter or larger than it really is.
32:38These objects that we see here, they're not physical objects in the rocket stream.
32:42It's actually an artifact of the rocket plume.
32:46That's a low-pressure zone beneath that rocket exhaust, and it's going to be subject to atmospheric changes.
32:54Those effects are the creation of these little tiny shock waves right here in the atmosphere.
33:00De Antonio shows us that you don't need a rocket launch to illustrate this same phenomenon in action.
33:06Natural turbulence can create the same effect.
33:08A tornado is a very violent place.
33:10And as that funnel is twisting, you see that little transient white thing that appeared?
33:16What was that?
33:17That was an atmospheric effect caused by the tornadoes.
33:19Keep in mind that a rocket launch is going to produce similar effects.
33:23Among them, these two little supersonic shock waves that we see there from the location.
33:33Our verdict? Supersonic shock waves.
33:36D'Antonio's explanation of the atmospheric physics seals the deal.
33:40More and more rockets are being sent into space every year.
33:44So it looks like for now, we don't have to worry about being on display for aliens.
33:49We just have to bone up on our rocket tech and learn to recognize these shock waves when we see
33:55them.
33:58In a previous episode, we investigated instances of UFO sightings out of California
34:04during an Independence Day fireworks celebration.
34:07Our experts were unable to explain some of them.
34:10And now, on the opposite side of the country, we found a similar Fourth of July phenomenon.
34:15Could this new evidence help us finally solve the mystery?
34:19It's Independence Day 2019. Desiree Leanne is sitting at home enjoying the holiday
34:26with her mother in Port Ritchie, Florida.
34:29Everything was really normal. Just random fireworks around my neighborhood.
34:33And then we saw the light that stood out and it kind of hovered in a strange pattern.
34:38Intrigued, Desiree heads to the backyard for a better view and captures this.
34:43I'm pretty sure that those are not fireworks.
34:46Three bright lights in a triangular formation appear to be slowly moving in sync.
34:51Desiree doesn't know what she's seeing, but she does know what it isn't.
34:55It wasn't a plane. If it was a helicopter, it would have made noise.
34:58But they moved here with intention. Like, it was doing something or going somewhere.
35:04Could that intention mean that we're being watched?
35:07Some believe that aliens have been gathering data and observing humanity
35:11during times of cultural importance. In fact, historian and author Amy Teitel says
35:16one of those times appears to be during Independence Day.
35:20The National UFO Reporting Center is more likely to receive a call on July 4th
35:25than any other day of the year.
35:27And Teitel notes the phenomenon goes back decades.
35:31On July 4th, 1947, United Airlines Flight 105 leaving Boise, Idaho.
35:37Captain Emile Smith saw five disk-like objects, one larger than the other four,
35:42heading towards the plane. Then they changed their course and flew parallel to him.
35:48He said he flashed his landing lights at whatever he was seeing,
35:51and they responded intelligently by changing formation.
35:57The idea that aliens like watching us for their own amusement or research is sometimes called
36:04galactic zoo theory, similar to the interest today's anthropologists have in Neanderthals.
36:10But before we go too far down those rabbit holes, let's see what our experts say about this footage.
36:19On an average clear night away from a city, a person can see between 2,000 and 3,000 stars.
36:24So are these just lights we see in the sky all the time?
36:28Albeit subtle, we can see movement from them. But stars appear to move with the Earth's orbit.
36:35Uh, they don't move as fast as what we see here. So definitely not stars.
36:41What about Starlink satellites? Starlink was established by Elon Musk as a network of satellites
36:48that can provide internet access anywhere on the Earth. The plan is to ultimately have up to 42,000
36:54of them circling the globe. Is that what we're seeing?
36:58Starlink appears in the night sky like a stream of lights, almost like pearls in a long row,
37:03moving across the night sky. You don't see that here at all. These objects, their movement is very
37:11subtle and slow and not consistent with what we see with satellites. So are we looking at genuine UFOs?
37:17If there were strong evidence that indicated that this was flying in some sort of an intelligent fashion,
37:22I can maybe accept the fact that it is an unknown, but I don't see it being in the world
37:30of being an alien
37:31spacecraft. You've got a lack of significant movement for a period of time. You don't have
37:37anything instantaneous acceleration. Instead, Macmillan believes what we're seeing is impressive
37:44technology, just not the alien kind. A couple of things that lead me to believe we're possibly
37:49looking at drones here. One is the height in terms of altitude. We can see the horizon there,
37:57we can see from the other houses. These objects are relatively low to the ground or within the
38:03ceiling cap that commercial drones are allowed to operate on. But why would drones fly in triangle
38:09formation? Looking at this from a distance, you can make out shapes because our brains want to detect
38:14those patterns. But in reality, we don't have an idea of how far away the objects are from each other.
38:21Macmillan adds that drones filming 4th of July fireworks is not only a common event,
38:27it's been done before over Port Ritchie, like this celebration in 2016.
38:34It's just very common nowadays for people to film fireworks from the drones and get a cool perspective
38:39that we hadn't seen before.
38:45Our verdict? Drones. So it looks like the aliens aren't studying us as we celebrate our independence,
38:53at least not in this case. But maybe at the next Super Bowl, someone should look up.
38:59Our skies could hold mysteries beyond our imagination. The truth, it's out there, hovering just above us,
39:08waiting to be discovered. Thank you for watching this special episode of The Proof is Out There.
39:14Please send us any videos, images, or sound that you think we should investigate,
39:18and remember to keep those cameras rolling.
