00:00And that's five straight playoff wins for the Pistons.
00:04Good morning, 97-1.
00:06Thanks for getting up with us.
00:08Tech said, you guys have had a similar discussion
00:10when the Pistons held the magic to 17 or 18 points and a half.
00:14There's a common denominator here.
00:15This says more about the Pistons.
00:17Everyone plays their worst game against the Pistons defense.
00:23How about this?
00:24Cleveland cried about game one and the fouls.
00:27What are they going to cry about now?
00:30Yeah, I mean, they were plus seven in the free throws.
00:33Right.
00:34Asar is in foul trouble all night because they politicked
00:38and they still lost.
00:40Like when you're complaining to the officials,
00:42that's an act of desperation to try to swing a series.
00:45You get those calls and you still lose.
00:48So they're going to ask the officials to make threes for him in game three.
00:51Like there's always going to be something that the losing team doesn't do well.
00:55The idea that they're just going to magically fix it
00:59because reasons, maybe they're not the better team.
01:02Maybe there's going to be a game this series where they have, you know,
01:05free throw attempts are equal and three point shooting is equal.
01:09That's probably the Cavs path to win.
01:10Well, I think they're going to win a game in the series.
01:12Sure.
01:13Is that going to happen four out of five times?
01:15Well, that's that's the issue now for them.
01:16And if they do it at home, is it going to be in game three or is it going to
01:19be in game four?
01:20Because if it's in game four, they might be down 3-0 and it might not matter.
01:24So can I bring this up quick?
01:25I feel like last night put the like explanation point on capturing the casual fan.
01:33Like I can sense it on ticket text this morning.
01:36People are really getting excited about this team.
01:40Like I feel like there's been a little bit of a turning point from them coming back,
01:44them referencing coming back still after winning game two last night.
01:47They learned a really hard lesson.
01:49And I made this comparison before the show and I want to put it on air here.
01:53This is reminding me of when the Lions turned the corner in the nine and eight season,
01:58when they missed the playoffs, but they started winning right before your eyes.
02:01And it looked legit.
02:03And I kind of feel like the sense of word we use the following couple of years was a euphoria.
02:08I think there's a euphoria starting to be born here about this team because they play the way
02:13the city likes the game to be played.
02:16They're underdogs.
02:18You're seeing a superstar blossom before your eyes.
02:21You guys getting the same kind of vibes?
02:24A little bit.
02:25And I think we can actually throw that out to people.
02:27Are you getting Pistons fever?
02:29If you've been on the fringe,
02:30if you've been on the periphery,
02:32are you feeling Pistons euphoria to use Tom's word?
02:35Jumping on the bandwagon.
02:37Yeah.
02:37And look,
02:37if you're someone who's been a hater of the NBA or this team and their flaws,
02:42is that washing away now?
02:45248-539-9797.
02:47I mean,
02:48we got our Pistons diehard phone calls.
02:50We're going to get to,
02:50I would love to mix in the people who aren't Pistons diehard fans,
02:54who are feeling that gravitational pull,
02:57who are being dragged into this five straight wins.
03:01A big game seven at home.
03:02And then the first two in this series.
03:05Are you?
03:06Yeah.
03:07I mean,
03:07I think that's a fun question for us to ask the listeners today who have
03:11previously not bought in.
03:15I despise the NBA for a lot of different reasons.
03:18And I've talked about the fact that I am a Pistons fan,
03:23grew up a Pistons fan,
03:24bad boys.
03:24Like anybody that's 45 to 55 or older,
03:28like you can't not remember those days,
03:31those moments,
03:33especially if you were younger at that time.
03:36I was at middle school,
03:37high school,
03:40but this is a team that has like,
03:44every time the Pistons are good,
03:46there's always an edge to them.
03:47It's always about defense.
03:48It's about physicality.
03:50And you go back to the,
03:51you know,
03:51go to,
03:52go to work Pistons.
03:53You go back to the bad boys.
03:54Like there is,
03:55I'm not going to compare them to the bad boys.
03:57Cause that's a completely different era of basketball.
04:00And I love that era.
04:02I'm not a huge fan of how they officiate games.
04:06I've talked about the fact that the regular season is an absolute fraud,
04:10but there is,
04:11there was something that you would got to love about this year's Pistons and
04:17the organization,
04:18the way they're going about it.
04:19And here's the other thing is I wasn't in conflict last night.
04:23There's no Tigers baseball.
04:25Yeah.
04:26But from now on out,
04:29I will not be in conflict because I am fully bought in on every single
04:35moment because I don't want to miss the Asar Thompson block.
04:40I don't want to miss Cade coming in and having the three assists or going for
04:4612 points.
04:46Like there are certain moments throughout the course of the game that if
04:50you're flipping back and forth,
04:51you're going to miss.
04:53And maybe you see it on a highlight,
04:54but I want to see it as it happens.
04:58There's like this fan FOMO.
05:00They've become the hot item in town and you want to be a part of it.
05:03So my,
05:04my,
05:04my FOMO has gone from Kevin McGonigal and every at bat that he has to now
05:09every moment that the Pistons have in this fun run that they're on.
05:15I just connected a couple dots,
05:17right?
05:17You and I are different people.
05:19Very different people.
05:20But when you were between 10 and 14 years old,
05:23that impressionable sports fan,
05:25you got the bad boys.
05:27Right.
05:28And so right before that,
05:29when I was eight years old,
05:31it was bless you boys.
05:32Yeah.
05:32But,
05:32but just you had the bad boys in that 10 to 14 years old.
05:36I had going to work around that same time for me.
05:39We both grew up in different times,
05:41but this is the thing that bonds generations of Pistons fans together is you
05:44play this way.
05:45Certainly.
05:46And you have these results.
05:48Two,
05:48four,
05:48eight,
05:48five,
05:49three,
05:49nine,
05:4997,
05:5097.
05:51Texas.
05:53Do we need to check if James Harden's affected by angel Reese at all?
06:00Is this one says,
06:01I think you guys need to walk it back a bit.
06:03They're the one seed.
06:04They've won two home games.
06:05They've only done what they're supposed to.
06:07It won't be a series until they win a game on the road.
06:10So I don't necessarily disagree.
06:12I'm not going to walk it back.
06:13My excitement over what we've seen in the first two games,
06:17because they didn't act like the one seed in the first round.
06:20They're acting like the one seed.
06:21Now,
06:22what's what we've talked about?
06:23That's one of the things I talked about after game one is they finally
06:25showed up as a one seed.
06:27They have done exactly what they're supposed to do.
06:31Yeah.
06:31I'm not sure we're supposed to walk back feeling good.
06:35Yeah.
06:35Watching a superstar take it to the next level in the playoffs,
06:40being a finisher,
06:42having that dog in them.
06:44Yeah.
06:45Having the best player in the Eastern Conference playoffs,
06:47having the best defense in the Eastern Conference playoffs,
06:50putting the two together and going up to Oh,
06:53that's all we've highlighted.
06:55I mean,
06:55look,
06:55I could get chesty.
06:56I don't know if the people want me to get over my skis on this.
06:59And you know what?
07:00If they only win the home games,
07:01they'll win the series.
07:03Okay.
07:05No,
07:05but people don't like if I get carried away,
07:07they're like worried about jinxes or whatever,
07:08but like we're watching the same thing,
07:10right?
07:10Yeah.
07:11And you know what excites me even more?
07:13What is the thought that a rematch in the postseason against the Knicks,
07:21every second that ticks on the game clock,
07:25it just feels like it's getting closer and closer.
07:30Tech says,
07:31I hate the NBA.
07:31I turned into the last five minutes yesterday to see LCA rocking next.
07:36That's Rick on the app.
07:38It says,
07:38not a big basketball fan.
07:39Never played it growing up,
07:40but man,
07:41do I love these Pistons.
07:42Their last two seasons have definitely got me on board.
07:45I'm engaged.
07:46I'm glued to the TV for every game now.
07:48Yeah.
07:49I had Lucy got home yesterday.
07:52All three kids watching the Pistons with me.
07:55Last night.
07:57Gravitational pull started last year against the Knicks.
07:59We are on board.
08:00You are seeing it now.
08:01Talk to Pistons fans to start the seven o'clock hour.
08:04It's 97 one.
