00:00Hi, my name's Dion Dublin. I'm a former professional footballer. I'm a presenter, I'm a pundit.
00:05I decided to form my own little auction house. As a small business owner, I know running a business comes
00:11with its fair share of challenges.
00:12So George North, Shelley McCoy and I have teamed up to show how some skills and disciplines we learnt in
00:18sport has helped us in our roles as small business owners.
00:22I use technology to monitor my on-field performance and I extend this technology-driven approach to the way I
00:27manage my own business.
00:27Another element with technology is smart meters. I've got a smart meter at home. It's something I didn't realise that
00:33we could get within the business as well.
00:35Having a smart meter installed will allow us to keep track when we use most energy and allow us to
00:39keep on top of our budget.
00:41I've used the marginal gains theory here at the gym every single day. It's similar to my training when I
00:47set myself small, achievable goals every single day that keep me progressing and motivated.
00:52I'm even more worried about energy costs this year after the prices went through the roof last winter.
00:58It's very important to know what you're spending your money on.
01:02As a small business, we do regularly check our outgoings. Staying on top of energy bills is really important, especially
01:08heading into the winter months.
01:10For more tips from us and further info on getting a smart meter, visit smartenergygb.org.
