00:00I want to see what your guys' thoughts on this.
00:02The NBA players, they do this every year.
00:05The Athletic put this out there.
00:06The NBA players, they come through and they state who they believe
00:11are the most overrated players in the NBA.
00:16And Alfred Shingun won that voting from his fellow peers.
00:23Remember last year it was Tyrese Halliburton,
00:25and he proceeded to go ahead and run the Pacers to Game 7 of the NBA Finals
00:31before he blew his Achilles out.
00:33Shingun is not going to have that type of run.
00:36But Alfred Shingun, he beats out Rudy Gay and Trey Young,
00:40who were tied for second, and then after that was Carl Anthony Towns.
00:45Those were the top four most overrated players.
00:48When you hear that, you get to see Shingun every day.
00:52This is a two-time All-Star.
00:54Your thoughts, do you think that is fair or do you think it's foul?
00:59Well, I think it's foul.
01:01Look, I've always personally thought that Shingun was slightly overrated.
01:06I like him.
01:06I appreciate the effort that he plays with.
01:09I hate the body language.
01:10I hate the constant whining.
01:12I don't believe that there's any part of his game beyond just grind and hustle
01:16that is something that is going to give him prolonged success, if you will, in the league.
01:25But I've always thought that the thought of Shingun, All-Star Shingun, one of the best β
01:31I thought that never rang true to me or set well with me.
01:35So, while I'll say overrated, let's have a conversation, sure.
01:40I think that's an easy conversation to partake in.
01:43I mean, most overrated in the league?
01:45Well, that feels a tad bit rude.
01:48I mean, that's a lot.
01:51Yeah.
01:52I mean, you're talking about a guy that β I mean, he was an All-Star.
01:54I mean, you're talking about a guy that does have the ability to go out
01:59and give you 30 points in a playoff game.
02:00I mean, you're talking about a guy that last year in the playoffs,
02:02this year wasn't necessarily great.
02:05The year overall was up and down.
02:07But last year in the playoffs, I mean, really just was a shining star, if you will,
02:14when you needed it the most, was a big-time player.
02:18Most overrated in the NBA, that's aggressive.
02:19Yeah, the only person that I've really seen, especially coming into the year,
02:24that really kind of had Shingun up.
02:28I remember we were talking earlier, Nick Wright had β he did his list
02:32and his pyramid, and he had him as a top-12 player.
02:36I just don't know a lot of people who think, even coming into the year,
02:41who think, like, damn it, Alfred Shingun is one of the β
02:46like, he's one of the best players in the league.
02:49I think people think Alfred Shingun is a good player.
02:53If you're saying that he's going to be the best player on the championship team,
02:57well, hell yeah, that's overrated.
02:58I don't β but I don't know that anybody thinks that.
03:01I think β I don't know, man.
03:05I definitely don't think he's the most overrated in the league.
03:10Like, I think Rudy Gobert, that's messed up, too.
03:14I think β what would you say about Rudy?
03:16I think Rudy's a great defensive player.
03:17I think that is fairly what Rudy is.
03:20I don't know why.
03:20Yeah.
03:20I don't know how.
03:21I agree.
03:22Like, Trey Young, I could see.
03:24But, again, like, I don't know.
03:26I just β I don't, like β I don't believe a lot of people in the league think,
03:30man, Alfred Shingun is β like, he gets the nickname Baby Jokic,
03:36but I don't think anybody β I think most people don't believe it's like they're close.
03:41Yeah.
03:41Like, he got that name, though, when he was trending so heavily upward
03:45and he was growing and showing that growth and he was scoring way more,
03:49just overall a better basketball player.
03:51That ain't around lately.
03:53No.
03:53Yeah.
03:53Like, I don't β yeah, I don't β I don't think that.
03:57I don't think that.
03:58Like, I'll be honest with you.
03:59I think β I mean, I think β I would say Giannis is more overrated right now than him.
04:06Just in terms of the expectations of what Giannis is and how much he's played
04:12and the impact that it's had on his team in terms of winning and losing.
04:17I mean, that feels more overrated than Shingun.
04:21I mean, it's β I don't know.
04:22I feel like that was a little, as you said, a little aggressive.
04:26Alpi had nine games where he scored 30 or more points last season, 2025.
04:32This season, four.
04:34Yeah.
04:35Well, yeah, I mean, he β listen, he frustrated me.
04:37I don't know what β I don't know what the hell happened about the last, what,
04:40month and a half of the season.
04:42Then he had that run of, like, a cool month where he was averaging, what,
04:4516 points and six rebounds.
04:47Like, every night it seemed like it was that.
04:49I'm so happy.
04:50Yeah, but again, I just β like, I don't think people are viewing him like β
04:58I'm trying to think of the best twos on the β like, who's a β like, a great two.
05:04Right now.
05:05Like, I don't β like β like, I don't even know that people view him like maybe even towns.
05:10Like, I don't even know that people put him up there like that.
05:13So, I think it is a little aggressive.
05:15I do think β I think he probably annoys players.
05:18Yeah.
05:18And that may be a part of β man, shut your ass up.
05:21Like, LeBron did him when he came out, when he came out, but soft call stuff.
05:25I think there's β we've talked about this a million times, man.
05:29There's something about the guy that goes harder than everybody else in the regular season.
05:33Obviously gifted.
05:34Don't take anything away from him.
05:35But goes harder than everybody else in the regular season.
05:37Puts up some good numbers.
05:38Plays a lot of minutes.
05:40There's no load β doesn't seem to be much load management at all.
05:42Now, then that guy β and then also there's a guy that may not be ranked as high.
05:48You mentioned Towns.
05:51I mean, but that's a guy that can knock down a three.
05:55That's a guy that can get to the bucket.
05:56That's β I mean, he kind of β now, everybody doesn't like the way he turns it on and off,
05:59obviously.
06:00But, yeah, there's β I think there's a different level there.
06:03It seems β some of these guys β some of these big β some of these guys that we know,
06:08these bigs that we know, they turn it on and off,
06:11and they have the ability to turn it on consistently in the playoffs,
06:13and it's just a different level ball.
