00:00After nearly 25 years of operation, Ivory Coast officially dissolves its Electoral Commission
00:06following the acknowledgement of institutional failures.
00:09The government of Ivory Coast will establish a new election management mechanism following
00:13the dissolution of the CEI.
00:16The announcement, made by President Alassane Utada, follows the Council of Ministries
00:23resolution to dissolve the independent Electoral Commission to make way for a body capable
00:27of guaranteeing peaceful processes in the long term.
00:29During its more than 20 years of existence, the outgoing Commission organised several election
00:34cycles that generated constant criticism and reservations, factors that the Exhibitiv
00:39branch has used to justify this institution of restructuring.
