In this episode, Little Joe Cartwright kills a man in self-defense after the man attempts to burn down a portion of the Ponderosa to clear land. Following the incident, Joe is tasked with taking the man's wild, feisty daughter (Willow Hoad) home. However, the girl and her vengeful relatives—led by Maud Hoad—are determined to kill Joe in revenge.
