00:01In Rwanda, amputee football is offering more than just sport. It is helping women rebuild
00:06confidence, overcome stigma and find a renewed sense of freedom. For some players, the journey
00:15has been deeply personal. On the field, players adapt to physical challenges while building
00:23resilience and skill.
00:53I don't care. If you laugh at me, I'm an amputee. I don't care. If I go inside the court,

01:05free. I like who am I. That is what amputee football was giving some loot inside my heart.
01:25Goalkeeper Kiguzee Angelique says training helps us cope with the demands of the game.
01:36My biggest challenge is when the ball is hit to the side of the weak hand. It is hard
01:42to save the ball when it goes to the side with the receding hand. But with the training, I
01:49get by. Supporters of the sport say its impact goes far beyond competition. Fred Sorels, manager
02:00of IET's women's amputee football team, highlights its broader benefits.
02:07At the end of the day, it's a win-win. It's a win because sport is advanced for and including
02:13all different disability groups. And it's a win psychologically and mentally for these
02:18ladies to have an opportunity to experience wholeness and wellness again.
02:22As amputee football continues to grow in Rwanda, it is creating a powerful space for healing,
02:28inclusion, and self-acceptance, one match at a time.
