00:00It's a real bombshell.
00:02Two months after the Africa Cup of Nations final,
00:06the Confederation of African Football has annulled Senegal's victory.
00:10The Appeals Committee of African Football's governing body
00:13has declared Morocco the winner by default.
00:17And the decision has outraged the Senegalese.
00:23It's a disappointment because the anger is still there.
00:30If they've just told us they're going to take away
00:32what we've earned with dignity as Senegalese,
00:35personally, it touches me deep in my heart.
00:40We deplore this, we say no,
00:42and we will resist with every ounce of our strength.
00:49It's scandalous.
00:50That's what everyone in the sports world has really had to say.
00:54It's a scandal.
00:57The CAF Appeals Committee relied on Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations
01:03to declare Senegal forfeit and therefore the loser by a score of 3-0.
01:10The Senegalese government is calling for an international investigation of corruption at CAF.
01:15But the damage could already be done.
01:18This is a scandal and it does a disservice to the Confederation of African Football.
01:24It lays bare the flaws in our football and we certainly didn't need this.
01:29The CAF had already been frequently criticized for its incompetence in competitions.
01:34There have been shortcomings and we've often dismissed them
01:37in an effort to project a positive image of our soccer.
01:41But this undermines the credibility of all of African football.
01:46After the announcement of the AFCON verdict,
01:49the Senegalese Football Federation denounced what it calls a unique,
01:53unprecedented and unacceptable decision that brings African football into disrepute.
02:00It says it will file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
02:05I'm Hany Johnson-Sambou, corresponding to Senegal for Africa News.
