00:05Good night.
00:06Love you.
00:07You changed your diaper?
00:09Yep.
00:11I can smell her.
00:12When you're in the bedroom trying to get a little frisky time and you got a baby kangaroo
00:16over there, that's a buzzkill.
00:18I love the smell of roo poo in the evening.
00:20I have a pair of my dad's underwear.
00:23Your dad?
00:25And I smell it, like, you know.
00:30Sneeping underwear all together is weird.
00:32But this, I, it's mind buffling.
00:36I usually keep all the mugs out.
00:39Sometimes I like different colors, sizes.
00:41I have to use the bathroom really, really quick.
00:43I probably go to the bathroom about 20 times a day.
00:46And it just keeps, like, right now I have to go.
00:48Excuse me.
00:48Your belly's been okay?
00:49No diarrhea, constipation, anything like that?
00:51I have diarrhea every day.
00:52But I thought that's just, like, a part of pooping.
00:55No.
00:55It isn't.
01:16Hi.
01:17Oh, hey, babe.
01:18How are you?
01:18Good, how are you?
01:19I'm good.
01:20I'm just gonna take a look around, okay?
01:22Yeah.
01:22All right, thank you.
01:23My name is Anissa.
01:24I'm 29 years old.
01:26I live in Tucson, Arizona.
01:28Ooh, this one is really pretty.
01:30When did you order this one?
01:31I got some orders in, like, Friday.
01:33Oh, my gosh.
01:35She is so cute.
01:36I love to go shopping for wigs and hair products.
01:39I'm a hairdresser slash makeup artist.
01:42I still have some in the back.
01:43Yes, this is lovely.
01:45My friend Monia, she owns her beauty supply shop.
01:49Okay, yeah.
01:50Yeah, this is nice.
01:51I feel it.
01:51And this is, like, 360, and you can, like, put in a ponytail?
01:55Yes.
01:55My dream is to eventually own my own salon.
02:01But I lost a lot of clients because of my addiction.
02:13I'm addicted to smelling my dad's underwear.
02:24Yeah, I'm sorry, that wasn't, like, for the camera.
02:26Like, I actually had to do it.
02:34When life gets a little bit too stressful for me and my anxiety starts to take over,
02:39sniffing my dad's underwear is just, like, something that I need to have.
02:43I tried to, like, pick up hobbies, take anxiety pills.
02:47It didn't work.
02:49When I'm working with a client, I would tie the underwear, like, around,
02:53like, almost like a mask, like, around my face.
02:55That way, I can just constantly get the smell like it's there.
03:00Because even though I sniff my dad's underwear, I'm still a businesswoman.
03:04I still have to make a living.
03:05Like, I'm still a normal person.
03:15I've been doing this for over a decade.
03:17My dad and my mom separated.
03:20I was around the age of, like, maybe 9, 10.
03:23And it was just my dad raising me and my sister.
03:27Like, you know, he became super dad.
03:29We were given chores, but I was kind of in charge of washing the clothes.
03:33I just started to smell the clothes to see, like, what's really dirty or not.
03:38And everything else just smelled pretty normal to me.
03:41But as soon as I smelled my dad's underwear, it just, it just gave me this instant high, if you
03:49will, you know.
03:50And I just couldn't stop.
03:52Like, I just, the more I did it, the more better I felt.
03:56And, you know, it's just, it's like an intoxication.
04:04Like, I don't, I don't know how to explain it.
04:07These are fresh pair.
04:09When I mean fresh, like, as soon as he takes them off.
04:12So, what I want to do usually is, like, fill it first.
04:16And that's, like, very comforting.
04:17And then, you know, I just take a big sniff.
04:20There.
04:30And just like that, like, I feel the energy rush.
04:35Like, I feel the relaxation, the calmness.
04:39I was caught red-handed.
04:41I was washing clothes, and I just was back there sniffing.
04:44And my sister came in, and she kind of looked at me for a second.
04:48And she was, like, disgusted at first.
04:52Like, but once I talked to her and explained and, you know, about just, like, where I was at mentally,
04:59she just was like, okay, like, we're going to get through this.
05:03And that was, like, three years ago.
05:05The feeling is so, like, out of this world.
05:10It's like taking that first sip of coffee when you first wake up.
05:15The fumes is grassy.
05:19Like, you know, kind of earthy.
05:20Like, like a nice soil.
05:23Okay, these are mine for today.
05:26The most I can go without sniffing my dad's underwear would have to be maybe 25 minutes.
05:32And then I start to, like, not feel normal.
05:36And that really gets, like, really stressful.
05:45Yeah.
05:46I just make sure that I have easy access to all the underwear that I stash around the house.
05:52So I have some in the bathroom, in my room, in the laundry room, in the kitchen.
05:58Did you, like, test out other people's underwear?
06:00One, one time I did test out with an ex-boyfriend of mine.
06:05And I was like, oh my gosh, I'm going to throw up.
06:08Like, this isn't, this isn't the same.
06:11Like, it's actually, like, disgusting, you know.
06:16Every three to four weeks, I would try to, like, go out to buy my dad some new underwear.
06:23So he won't realize, like, the missing ones that I have.
06:29Yeah.
06:38Nothing seems to, like, relax me more than the scent of my father's underwear.
06:44And, you know, I just figured since it's not hurting anyone, it's not hurting my health, like, why stop?
06:52The only problem I see about it is that, you know, I haven't been honest with my dad.
07:03Like, I fear that once I do let my dad know, like, what's really going on, he's not going to
07:09want to, like, talk to me anymore.
07:10And he just might feel betrayed.
07:14And that's the part that's eating me alive.
07:17Wait, actually, I have to stop. I'm sorry.
07:19I'll do this in a while.
07:25Ooh.
07:26Okay.
07:38Macy, are you hungry?
07:42Is that yummy, huh? Is that good?
07:44My name is Marsha.
07:46I'm from Seeley, Texas.
07:50Okay.
07:51Can I have this?
07:52Dinky.
07:53No.
07:54Let me have...
07:54And I'm a kangaroo mom.
08:01This is Reesey.
08:04She's about nine months old.
08:06She's 15 pounds.
08:07You showing all your glory?
08:12Reesey lives inside because she's still a baby.
08:14But she has free reign to go anywhere in the house.
08:18The biggest risk right now would be to let her outside without supervision.
08:22Because she does want to roam.
08:23She does want to hop fast.
08:25She wants to stretch her legs.
08:27She will live inside until she gets over 25 pounds.
08:31Right now, she's about 15.
08:36And then we'll put her outside slowly.
08:38Because right now, she sleeps in her pouch in bed with us.
08:42On my side, we spoon.
08:43And so...
08:45We all finished?
08:46Yep.
08:46She's all done.
08:47She's ready for night time.
08:48She gonna sleep through the night?
08:49I hope so.
08:51I hope so.
08:52My husband gets lucky because the kangaroo does not sleep in between us.
08:57But we have in the past had the kangaroos in the middle.
09:00And they get up in the middle of the night and they have jumped on him.
09:04And he does not care for that at all.
09:09Do I at least get a kiss?
09:11Yes.
09:11Okay.
09:12Love you.
09:13Love you, sir.
09:14Love you.
09:15These are the kids we've never had together.
09:18But you know what it's like when you're in the bedroom trying to get a little frisky time
09:23and you get that knock on the door or the door opens.
09:26Imagine that when you've got a baby kangaroo over there banging its feet against the closet door.
09:33That's a buzz kill.
09:34So it can kind of ruin the moment.
09:37So...
09:39You change your diaper?
09:41Yes.
09:42You sure?
09:46Well, I can smell her.
09:49Good night.
09:53Love the smell of root poo in the evening.
09:57I did not grow up with any exotic animals.
10:01We had one dog and that was it.
10:03Recy!
10:04Hi!
10:06I was actually looking for a farm animal.
10:08And I went to a show in Houston.
10:11Um, and there was a gentleman there bottle feeding a baby kangaroo.
10:17She was so cute.
10:18I couldn't resist the face.
10:20And so after doing my research, I told my husband, I walked in.
10:23I said, we are going to get a kangaroo.
10:26And his reaction was, we are going to do what?
10:29Oh, there we go.
10:30And six days later, we got our first kangaroo.
10:44Hey, Recy.
10:46So this is the kangaroo room.
10:49There is no guest room.
10:50It's just a kangaroo room.
10:54Hang out right there.
10:55She can eat her hay, drink water, hang out, hop around, lay down.
11:00Good girl.
11:02This is her playpen.
11:04She's made a mess.
11:05She gets in her, her tail hits everything.
11:07It is 100% like having a baby.
11:09The whole diaper thing, the bottle feeding.
11:12My kids are grown.
11:13And sometimes you kind of miss having a little kid around.
11:19She doesn't want it to end.
11:21She wants an ongoing source of fluids.
11:28Okay.
11:29Let's get some diapers.
11:31You okay in there?
11:32Mm-hmm.
11:34Comparing a kangaroo and a toddler to me are pretty much the same thing.
11:38You're doing the same thing.
11:39You got to change the diaper.
11:40So I'm cutting holes in the diapers for her tail.
11:42So that when I put them on, I can just put them on.
11:45And then I put them on backwards.
11:47So the tabs, so she can't undo the tabs in front of her.
11:50Because sometimes they like to scratch their belly.
11:53So she could actually scratch the tabs and get her diaper off.
11:56So I put them on her backwards.
11:58You got to feed them.
11:59And you got to keep a really watchful eye on them.
12:03I probably change her diaper 10 times a day.
12:06I know.
12:07Nobody likes this.
12:09I know.
12:10Hold on.
12:11No, no, no, no, no.
12:12Come here.
12:16No.
12:16Hold on.
12:18Hold on.
12:19Hold on.
12:24I don't care if people judge me or what they think about me having kangaroos.
12:29Aww.
12:30You're so sweet.
12:32And sometimes, you know, I think it's fun to watch my husband go,
12:35oh, goodness, a big kangaroo in the house.
12:38I think it's fun.
12:40So in five more pounds, when she gets to 20 pounds,
12:43you start weaning her off formula completely.
12:46I can wean her off the bed, too.
12:48Come on.
12:50She's a good little snuggler.
12:51When she gets bigger, I'll stop putting her in bed.
12:53But right now, she's fine.
12:54She's still a baby.
12:55Having a baby kangaroo is a lot.
12:57Would you like to get your bed back for a little bit of time to yourself?
13:01It would be nice.
13:03So there will probably be a conversation about setting the kangaroo out in the yard.
13:08So we'll cross that bridge when it happens.
13:17I absolutely love the taste of coffee.
13:19If I felt sick, then I would go to a doctor.
13:21If you don't feel sick, what do you go to a doctor for if you don't feel sick?
13:23I'm fine.
13:24My children are completely embarrassed by me because I just can't control the hyperness.
13:28Once you stop that, you're going to crash, you know.
13:30Oh, you're the expert now?
13:31Is that what you're doing?
13:33I didn't tell you because, like, I didn't want to lose you as a friend.
13:36Your dad, I don't know how he's going to feel about that.
13:39But you have to let him know.
13:41I'm so nervous to tell my dad, and honestly, you know, I don't know how he's going to react.
14:07I'd love to come to diners because diner coffee is the absolute best.
14:13You can't get better than diner coffee in Jersey.
14:17Hey, that's it.
14:18Have coffee?
14:19Have toast.
14:21If you want to, like, put, like, an order of toast in.
14:24A toast?
14:25Better toast?
14:25Yes.
14:29I'm Angela.
14:30I'm 45 from the Jersey Shore, and I am addicted to drinking coffee.
14:37Diners are so busy that they don't even realize that they're serving me a lot of coffee.
14:41So it's buy one cup, get the rest free.
14:43It's, like, non-stop.
14:45It's a flow of coffee.
14:53She drank it all.
14:54I had to wait for a new cup.
14:55She drank it.
14:56I'm a paying customer, but I have to wait.
14:59Can I have some coffee, please?
15:00Of course.
15:02I don't really know her name, but I see her.
15:05I already know the drill.
15:06Like, she just comes in, get the coffee, and constant refills.
15:10Honey, can I have another cup?
15:25I usually keep all the mugs out.
15:28Sometimes I like different colors, sizes.
15:31It's a collectible thing.
15:32It's like a hobby.
15:33I collect mugs.
15:37If I had 100 guests, everybody could have a cup of coffee.
15:41So a lot of times, I buy a whole bunch of these a week, and I probably go through three
15:46of these a day.
15:47Some people think 10 cups of coffee is an addiction.
15:49Let me tell you, that is nothing.
15:51I could drink 100 cups of coffee a day.
15:54Nobody can drink more than me.
15:56Milk-wise, I'm into the oat milk.
15:58I'm not really into dairy.
16:00I get a tummy ache with that.
16:01But I like to keep, like, French vanilla, hazelnut, sweet cream, all different types of flavors.
16:08Just, it feels like you're getting something that you paid for outside, but you could do it yourself.
16:15I absolutely love the taste of coffee.
16:18It gets me moving back and forth and doing the happy dance, because I love my coffee.
16:21I love my coffee.
16:23It gets you excited.
16:24It really does.
16:26I totally like breakfast blend in the morning, and then I'll go to more espressos and lattes during the day,
16:32and I'll just keep drinking.
16:33I have to use the bathroom really, really quick.
16:35I probably go to the bathroom about 20 times a day.
16:38And it just keeps, like, right now I have to go, excuse me.
16:41And it actually just reminded me.
16:42Talking about feed just makes you go feed.
16:46Over the years, I feel that my family's invited me less and less places.
16:51And I don't get invited to weddings.
16:53Had a couple cousins that got married, wasn't invited.
16:56It affected my relationship.
16:58I chose coffee over a man, definitely.
17:03Hi, guys.
17:04Hi.
17:05How was school?
17:06It was good.
17:08My children are completely embarrassed by me, yes.
17:11Hey, baby.
17:12Hey, David.
17:15My kids tell me daily to stop drinking coffee.
17:18Too much coffee.
17:19It's too much coffee.
17:20You haven't even eaten anything today.
17:22So what?
17:25It's really hard to go out in public with her, because she's really, always really energetic, because she drinks so
17:30much coffee.
17:31They won't bring me out.
17:32They don't invite me anywhere.
17:33My son stopped playing sports, because he didn't want me at the games, because I was being too embarrassing for
17:37him.
17:38Yelling at the coach, or yelling at the other parents, or yelling at kids sometimes, because I just can't control
17:42the hyperness.
17:43You got kicked out the last game for being too loud.
17:46I was, like, excited.
17:48I was very passionate.
17:49My friends, they think it's kind of weird sometimes and embarrassing, but they don't really say it, but I can
17:55tell.
18:07There you go.
18:10All right.
18:10I'm going to eat one second.
18:12What's that?
18:13I mean, we can...
18:14Nothing.
18:15Enjoy the food.
18:16Enjoy your dinner.
18:17Munga, munga, munga.
18:19Tomorrow I'm going to be busy.
18:20I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow for my physical.
18:22Maybe you should go with him.
18:24If I felt sick, then I would go to a doctor.
18:26If you don't feel sick, what do you go to a doctor for if you don't feel sick?
18:28I'm fine.
18:32Mom, if, like, a whole bunch of doctors and a whole bunch of scientists did research to tell you that
18:36only, like, five cups of coffee is good a day, who are you to tell them?
18:40They went to college for it.
18:41Did you?
18:43It's okay to be addicted to coffee.
18:44It's just water and coffee beans.
18:46That's all I'm doing.
18:47I guess the only problem about drinking coffee is, like, I don't sleep.
18:50I don't eat or sleep.
19:01You're very energetic because you have caffeine running through your veins.
19:04And once you stop that, you're going to crash, you know?
19:06Oh, you're the expert now?
19:08Is that what you're doing?
19:09We're really worried about you.
19:11In all seriousness.
19:16I'll go to the doctor. How about that? And I will prove to you that I can drink coffee all
19:21I want and I'm fine. I'm fine.
19:24That's all we wanted.
19:27I really don't want to go to the doctor, but my kids suggested it. And I love my kids more
19:32than anything in this world. I think they're trying to prove to me that the coffee is hurting me. But
19:36at the end, I don't think that it's going to make that much of a difference.
19:56Oh, my gosh. Hi. How are you?
20:00Oh, my gosh. It's so good to see you.
20:05Monia, she's one of the only best friends that I have.
20:08I've known her for about a good five years.
20:12I'm so happy, like, you know, that you decided to meet me here, you know, because it's a lot of
20:17things that, you know, I got to get off my chest to you.
20:20I feel like it's very important to let my friend Monia know about my addiction because it's been going on
20:26for so long. I'm just, like, waiting to get caught.
20:29Monia, she's a true friend, and I hope she'll be here to support me.
20:33It's kind of hard to explain, like, you know, I just, like, hope that, like, you know, well, I can
20:39show you.
20:43So, um, I have a pair of my dad's underwear, and...
20:50Your dad?
20:50Yeah. And I smell it, like, you know?
20:58It helps me. Like, it's a coping mechanism for me. So, um...
21:04Sniffing your dad's underwear? Like, sniffing underwear altogether is weird. But this, like, I... It's mind-buffling. Why your dad's
21:17underwear?
21:18So, it was something, like, that was so innocent at first. So, for me, I was just, like, when I
21:24first smelled it, like, I don't know how to describe it.
21:27Like, do you know, like, when you're so tired in the morning, you got to go to work and that
21:32first sip of coffee?
21:34Right. So, it's kind of like that. And it was just, like, so magical. I mainly do it when I
21:43have anxiety.
21:45So, that's, like, you sniff your dad's underwear to cope.
21:50I know it's weird. But, um, if you don't want to be my friend, like, I understand. But I just
21:58thought that you deserved to know the truth.
22:04Listen, this is weird. Okay? This is... I know.
22:08I never would expect that. But we all have our problems, right?
22:13Right. And I really appreciate you telling me this.
22:16Yeah. It's personal. And I would not abandon you.
22:23I love you.
22:25I didn't tell you because, like, I didn't want to lose you as a friend.
22:30Like, you've been such a good friend to me.
22:32Everybody else, like, has, like, abandoned me or, like, just basically, like, kicked me to the curb.
22:37Like, you know, that's too weird.
22:39I would not judge you.
22:41Well, I mean...
22:42I don't know how your dad...
22:44Well...
22:44Like, if he hears that, I don't know how he's gonna feel about that.
22:50But I know one thing for sure. You have to let him know.
22:54I'm so nervous to tell my dad. And honestly, you know, I don't know how he's gonna react.
23:01Like, now that you've told me...
23:03Right.
23:04...you will tell him and all together.
23:06We will try to figure this out. I don't think that this is gonna be easy.
23:11But it's worth a try.
23:13My dad, he's a great dad. And, you know, just hiding this from him for so many years, it just
23:19always felt unnatural.
23:21And I just finally had enough of hiding from him. And I'm just gonna let him know.
23:31I hope that you can look past this and still see me as your daughter.
23:35You know how you always say, like, what happened to my underwear?
23:38Like, where's my underwear going?
23:40And how, like, I always ask, like, to wash, like, the clothes and stuff.
23:43So you stealing my underwears to keep them with you?
24:09There's Daph Daph and Snoopy's. Look! Can you go say hi?
24:13I have three kangaroos, and two of them live outside.
24:17I have Daphne, and she's approximately three years old.
24:21I have Snoopy, and he's about a year and a half old. And then I have Reesey.
24:26Can you say hi, Snoopy?
24:28Oh, real kisses. How sweet. Oh.
24:33So we're slowly introducing Reesey to the older kangaroos.
24:36Hi, Princess Daphne.
24:38Hi. Watch out.
24:44Okay. Hi.
24:48No, no, no.
24:49It's gonna be very hard when I move her outside just because she's, you know, the baby.
24:54She's been my, you know, everything I do every day revolves around her.
24:58But just like with your children, you raise them from babies and you get them out of the house,
25:02and that's the end goal with her as well.
25:05You're furry. You furry. Can I have kisses?
25:08Once I get used to her being out there, it'll be, it'll, it'll get easier.
25:12I know Snoopy and Daphne will ultimately protect her as well.
25:17Hi. Hey.
25:19Give me kids.
25:22Yep.
25:22Give her Daphs. Right here.
25:27Whole new meaning to double fisted.
25:31Having a baby kangaroo is a lot.
25:33Aw.
25:34Good girl.
25:35They're not for everyone.
25:36Good girl.
25:37I know the joy that all the kangaroos have brought to Marsha and I.
25:41I wouldn't give that up for the world. Not at all.
25:45She likes it outside.
25:46Leave her out here.
25:48Should I get my bed back tonight?
25:51No, it's still too early.
25:53You don't want to leave her out tonight?
25:53I'm not leaving her out tonight.
25:55Come on.
25:56Or for the next months to go.
25:58Way too early.
26:02Oh my God.
26:03That's the first time she tried to lay down like the other Vic Bruce do.
26:08She did it.
26:11Oh my God.
26:13That's like a huge moment when they do that.
26:15Like when a baby takes their first step?
26:16Yes.
26:17Yeah.
26:18The longest I've been away from Recy is probably four hours.
26:22I don't want to be away from her that long.
26:25Mike, he is just so kind and giving and loving that he will just go along with me.
26:31And once Recy lives outside, we'll have more freedom unless we get another baby.
26:36Would you get another baby kangaroo?
26:38Absolutely not.
26:42Maybe.
26:43And I may change my mind.
26:46Can I have kisses?
26:47Hey.
26:48I love you, buddy.
27:27Hey, good morning, Dad.
27:28Good morning.
27:28How are you?
27:30It's good.
27:30How you doing?
27:31I'm good.
27:32Where are you off today?
27:33Man, you going to make me a cup of coffee?
27:34No.
27:35Do it yourself.
27:36Wow.
27:36Mm-hmm.
27:37Right now, I'm just like super nervous because I'm about to reveal to my dad that I'm sniffing
27:44his underwear.
27:47Honestly, I don't know how my dad's going to react.
27:50Like, he's very unpredictable.
27:53I'm ready to tell my dad because I'm sick and tired of how it's just been impacting my
27:58life.
27:58And right now, I'm just ready for a change and I'm ready to take this load off my shoulders.
28:05All right, what's going on?
28:06Okay.
28:07Well, um, okay, well, I worked up this courage, like, to tell you, like, what I've been doing.
28:16And, um, you know, I apologize, like, that it took this long.
28:20And, you know, when you and Mom split up, like...
28:24That was many of years ago.
28:25Yeah, I know.
28:26But, you know, it still affected me.
28:30And basically...
28:31What affected you?
28:33Her leaving, her abandoning us.
28:35And basically, um, you know, I hope that you can look past this and still see me as your
28:41daughter, but, um, I have something that I want to show you.
28:50Um...
28:52What is that?
28:55It probably might look familiar to you.
28:58What are you...
28:59It's a pair of your underwears.
29:01What are you doing with my underwear in your bra?
29:04Uh, well, you know, I...
29:07What are you doing?
29:09I'm...
29:09What are you doing?
29:10Don't...
29:11What are you doing?
29:12What is this?
29:13I'm smelling your underwear.
29:20I've just, like, been stealing.
29:22Like, you know how you always say, like, what happened to my underwear?
29:25Like, where's my underwear going?
29:26And stuff like that.
29:28And, like, how, like, I always ask, like, to wash, like, the clothes and stuff.
29:34And, um, I...
29:35So you stealing my underwears to keep them with you?
29:41Um, not, like, to only keep it with me.
29:44I...
29:45I smell them.
29:45I love the way that they smell.
29:47That's weird.
29:48That's weird.
29:49But it's not as nothing...
29:49Why don't you just wash your own stuff and smell your own stuff, then?
29:52Uh, I don't wash them.
29:55And...
29:55And you're super nasty, then?
29:56Like, what are you doing?
29:58Well...
29:59It's weird, like...
30:00The thing is, I understand.
30:01It's weird.
30:01I just love the scene of you.
30:03No, that's weird.
30:03I love the smell of your underwear.
30:05That's...
30:05Look, honestly, you need to go see a doctor behind something like that.
30:09Well, I'm planning on seeing...
30:10Like, I'm super upset about this, though.
30:11I understand, but, you know, you're still my dad, and I'm returning every single pair.
30:15Uh, I'm gonna be honest with you.
30:17You're sick.
30:18You need help.
30:18And I'm your father.
30:19So, look, yeah, let me show you something.
30:20You're not supposed to be doing that.
30:21No, I don't wanna see nothing.
30:22No more.
30:25I was trying to figure out, where are my underwears going?
30:29And then you say you smelling...
30:30You sniffing my underwear?
30:32Well, only...yeah, only the front part, not the back.
30:34Only the front part?
30:35Like, how is you smelling my used underwear?
30:39Well, it makes me literally feel comfortable.
30:42Like, just...
30:42Nah, you got...
30:43You got some...
30:44Your fumes is...
30:46Yeah, like, your fumes is intoxicating for me.
30:48Like, not in a weird way, you know?
30:50Anyway, I don't wanna talk about this no more.
30:52This is disgusting.
30:53Are you serious right now?
30:55Like...
30:56You need help.
30:58I would expect him to react that way.
31:06You could die from drinking too much coffee?
31:08Yeah.
31:09She's gonna end up in the hospital,
31:10her organs are gonna shut down,
31:12and it's not gonna be good.
31:13This is nuts.
31:14Celestrol's high, blood pressure's high,
31:15you're setting yourself up for a heart attack or stroke.
31:34I never suspected nothing like that,
31:37because I would've nipped it in the bud...
31:38How many years ago, she said?
31:40Over a decade.
31:41She was...
31:41What, 15?
31:43She's smelling my dirty underwear.
31:46The crotch.
31:49I don't wanna have anything to do with that.
31:51At all.
31:53Hello?
31:54Hello?
31:54Oh, hold on, close.
31:55Hello?
31:56She even knew about all of this, right?
31:59You asked her not to tell me?
32:00Yeah, I asked her not to tell you.
32:02I'm out here talking.
32:05I just have a feeling your reaction would just be like,
32:08what the ?
32:10I wish you would've told me, but...
32:12I know.
32:13I should've told you.
32:14I should've told you.
32:14Yeah.
32:16I told her, it was disgusting.
32:18Yes.
32:20She needs to get help.
32:21Honestly.
32:27I'm gonna get the help that I need, you know?
32:29I just...
32:32I just thought, like,
32:33it would be better, like, to...
32:35like, tell him now, but I didn't know, like,
32:38you know, he was gonna be embarrassed about it.
32:40So...
32:43I'm just happy, like, I told him,
32:45and I got it off my chest, because, like,
32:47I couldn't hold it in any longer.
32:49So, like, that part is over with.
32:51Now, like, repairing my relationship with my dad
32:55and seeking therapy is the next step for me,
33:00because...
33:01I just want, like, some type of normal back in my life.
33:05Like, after all these years.
33:23There's gonna be a sip before I go in there.
33:25Fine, shut up.
33:26I know, thirsty as hell.
33:27Oof.
33:28So thirsty, I'm just gonna take one sip.
33:35Wait, let me put it in my cup.
33:37No.
33:45Hi.
33:45Hi, checking in?
33:46Yes, for Dr. Shaw.
33:47Oh, okay.
33:48Did anything change with the insurance?
33:49Everything's the same.
33:50Beautiful.
33:51Do you guys have any, um, coffee?
33:53We do not.
33:54We have water.
33:55Would you like water?
33:56No, I'm okay.
33:57Just checking.
33:58We'll be with you shortly.
33:59I feel like drinking coffee is not affecting my health.
34:02I wake up every day.
34:03I'm functioning.
34:04I get things done.
34:05All right, you guys can come right in here.
34:08But the other day, everybody was getting on my case.
34:10I agreed to go to the doctor.
34:12I'm gonna prove to them that I'm fine.
34:14I'm, like, shocked you're here,
34:15because that's why I came.
34:16I didn't think you were actually gonna go.
34:18It takes forever in a doctor office.
34:20I wish they would hurry up.
34:22If the doctor asks me,
34:23I'll tell her how much I'm drinking,
34:25but it's really, like,
34:26to me it's silly just to put a number, like, 50 on it.
34:28If she asks me if I'm drinking coffee, yeah.
34:30If she asks me when,
34:31I'm gonna pretty much say all day.
34:34Hello.
34:35Hi, how you doing?
34:35I'm Dr. Shaw.
34:36Nice to meet you.
34:37Nice to meet you.
34:37Angela, right?
34:39So, Angela, what brings you in today?
34:41Uh, well, my kids just wanted me to just, like,
34:43get a physical, I guess.
34:45Okay.
34:45Things have been good.
34:46Yep.
34:47Normal diet, exercise, all that stuff.
34:49Yep.
34:49Yeah.
34:52What?
34:54They think I drink too much coffee.
34:56Okay, how much coffee are you drinking?
34:58If you had to quantify it?
35:00More than 10.
35:01More than 10 cups?
35:02Yeah, way more than 10.
35:03Way more than 10, yeah.
35:03Okay.
35:04I think I've had almost 100 cups of coffee a day.
35:06So you're just, like,
35:07drinking the coffee all day long?
35:09All day long.
35:09That's, that's super excessive.
35:11The science says that four cups is probably the max in a day
35:15for a person of normal size.
35:19Anything above that, you can put yourself into, basically, caffeine toxicity.
35:24Caffeine toxicity?
35:25What's that?
35:25So, basically, it can increase your heart rate, increase your blood pressure.
35:30It can mess with your digestive system.
35:33Your belly's been okay.
35:34No diarrhea, constipation, anything like that.
35:36I have diarrhea every day.
35:37But I thought that's just, like, a part of pooping.
35:40So that's not normal to have diarrhea every day?
35:42That's not a normal way to defecate or whatnot?
35:44Yeah, no.
35:45Oh, wow.
35:46Yeah.
35:47Technically, caffeine is a drug.
35:48In small doses, it's okay.
35:50But over time and the amount that she's drinking, definitely she's addicted to it.
35:56I think you just have to kind of push in the morning to see how far you can get without
36:00drinking a cup of coffee.
36:02So it's reversible?
36:03I think so, yeah.
36:05But still, over time, if you keep this up, then it's not gonna help.
36:09You could die from drinking too much coffee?
36:10Yeah.
36:12So if Angela doesn't stop drinking the amount of coffee that she's drinking, she's headed to a really bad place.
36:18She's gonna end up in the hospital, her organs are gonna shut down, and it's not gonna be good.
36:22Let me take a listen to you.
36:23Would you mind taking this off for me?
36:25Mm-hmm.
36:28Good.
36:37Okay, so your blood pressure is actually a little bit high.
36:41Getting 160 over 90, which is pretty high.
36:43Mmm.
36:44So it sounds like the coffee is already causing issues with your blood pressure then.
36:48Because that's a high blood pressure, 160 over 90.
36:50We usually would like people to be 120 over 80-ish.
36:54This is nuts.
36:55Try to decrease the amount of coffee and let's see what happens.
36:59Cholesterol's high, blood pressure's high, you're setting yourself up for a heart attack or stroke.
37:05Yeah.
37:06So we definitely have to be more careful.
37:08Like I said, you don't have to be terrified to drink coffee, but not in excess.
37:12Two or three cups a day.
37:14Very good to meet you.
37:15Good to meet you too.
37:20Livia was right at the doctor's office and all, but it really doesn't mean like I'm gonna stop drinking coffee.
37:25And even the doctor said that.
37:26I just needed to slow down.
37:27Right now today, I am not willing to completely cut off coffee from my life, but I'm willing to stop
37:34drinking so much at night.
37:35And I think that will help the sleep and the appetite and then everything's gonna fall back in place.
37:41I told you so.
37:53Even though I hate the thought of talking to a person about my problems, I'm at least trying to get
37:58better, you know?
37:59My dad's underwear, the fumes, it just was intoxicating.
38:16Hi.
38:17Hello.
38:17Hi.
38:18Nice to meet you.
38:19I'm David.
38:19I'm Anissa.
38:20Anissa, come on in.
38:22You get the big comfortable chair.
38:23Oh yeah, thank you.
38:24I think that seeking therapy will help my relationship with my dad.
38:28Even though like I hate the thought of talking to a person about my problems, I'm just gonna put the
38:33effort in and try.
38:35Because I do love my dad and I just want to let him know that I'm at least trying like
38:40to get better, you know?
38:43Yeah.
38:46So tell me a little more about yourself.
38:48Well, I've been through like trauma with my mom leaving at a young age.
38:54She left, okay.
38:55Yeah.
38:55How old were you about?
38:56I was nine.
38:57Nine, okay.
38:58Nine, ten.
38:59And I didn't know how to like, you know, release.
39:04Right, you're nine.
39:05Right.
39:05So a couple years later, I was 14 and you know, I was doing the laundry.
39:12Okay.
39:13And one day I just happened to like come across like my dad's underwear.
39:18The fumes, like it just was intoxicating and I just believed that it calmed me down.
39:25Fast forward, I just like kept up what I was doing and I just like in my brain, it was
39:31like you can't stop.
39:32And this described to me she had an addiction of smelling her dad's underwear and I've never encountered that one
39:37before but I've encountered so many others very similar to that.
39:41None of this is anything that you control.
39:45The subconscious is in charge of your life.
39:48And that's the one thing I want you to realize.
39:50None of this is your fault.
39:52Okay.
39:53This is something your subconscious held on to and did it for a good reason.
39:57Something like mom isn't here to reassure me she's not here.
40:02I'm going to make sure dad stays with me in the form of whatever, right?
40:05That can be an obvious answer.
40:06Yeah.
40:07What we want to do is begin to let go of that old programming and create new healthy programming for
40:13that part of your subconscious that you want to achieve.
40:16Okay.
40:17Hypnotherapy is talking to a person's subconscious mind.
40:21I work with people that really need to change the old addictions, the old behaviors.
40:26And subconsciously we can begin to affect that change with hypnosis.
40:33Okay.
40:33Once you move something, take your glasses off.
40:36Turn these on and we'll adjust the volume and the voice.
40:39Okay.
40:43Just beginning to relax.
40:46You just naturally continue to release all those negative behaviors of the past.
40:52By accepting these powerful positive suggestions, you create new healthy habits of success.
41:00I do think it's possible for her to kick the addiction.
41:03Imagine the relief knowing there's nothing wrong with you and these issues were not really yours.
41:08They were your subconscious programming.
41:10And that's what I wanted her to come away with was that sense that now she can take charge and
41:16do something about it instead of being a victim to it.
41:20Easily and naturally opening your eyes, wide awake, feeling great, wide awake.
41:25Okay.
41:34Here.
41:36Whenever you're ready, you can take off the headphones.
41:40Are you able to relax?
41:41Yeah.
41:43I was asleep.
41:44I think like that part of my mind was like sleep, but I can hear you.
41:48Yes.
41:49That's exactly right.
41:50And then I kind of got startled too.
41:52Like I forgot that I was here, you know?
41:54Yep.
41:55That's perfect.
41:56Perfect.
41:57That'd be great.
41:58I was really super comfortable.
42:01And like, honestly, I just feel like brand new, honestly.
42:04I'm not going to lie.
42:05This is gold.
42:06He opened my mind to a whole bunch of other things.
42:09And I didn't know like that's how the brain worked.
42:12So I'm going to do a little bit of my own research as well.
42:15But I'm going to keep coming back to the doctor and I'm going to be like working towards a better
42:20me in the future.
42:22Thank you so much, David.
42:24You're welcome.
42:24I appreciate it.
42:25This was wonderful.
42:26This was wonderful.
42:26I appreciate it.
42:32Thank you for writing.
