00:14My name is Anthony Norman. I'm 25 years old. I'm from Nashville, Tennessee.
00:25An exciting time for us because we're about to go on our big retreat.
00:27And that's what you're helping out with here.
00:35Anthony, I need to talk to you right now. Father to father. I need to talk to you. Let's go!
00:47Anthony, come up here. I'm going to talk to you myself. Have a seat, my friend.
00:54Have a seat. Make yourself comfortable.
01:02Here we go. Here we go.
01:04Okay, here we go. Camera's ready.
01:06All right, cue dug out. Cue dug out.
01:09All right, listen. I just want to say what Anthony just did for him to bust into that room and
01:16to stop that deal.
01:17I mean, that took guts.
01:18The truth is that we have actually hoped that you would bust through that room and stop that deal since
01:24the very first minute you showed up at Rockin' Grandma's.
01:27Really?
01:28I told you that this was my last company retreat.
01:32Yeah?
01:32What I didn't tell you was that it was also my first company retreat.
01:39Because I'm not actually the CEO of Rockin' Grandma's.
01:44You see, Rockin' Grandma's is not a real company.
01:49Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
01:50That is not my son over there.
01:53You're lying. You're lying.
01:55And how? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, hold on.
01:58Anthony.
01:58Y'all about to mess my brain up.
02:00Anthony.
02:02We are all actors and this is a TV show.
02:08And the only thing that's real is you.
02:11Give him a minute, give him a minute.
02:14Take your time, baby. Take your time.
02:16You know what's crazy is I've been saying that his whole time.
02:21His whole time.
02:23We know.
02:25Every time I'm like, this date, what's going to be next?
02:28I feel like I'm living in a TV show.
02:32Oh my goodness. Y'all are incredible actors.
02:34All of y'all. Y'all are phenomenal actors.
02:37Marjorie, too? She's an actor?
02:42Yes, absolutely.
02:44Even though Rockin' Grandma's wasn't a real company,
02:47you were definitely its best employee.
02:50Yeah, I see.
02:52You showed that you had a deep affection for the family of Rockin' Grandmas.
02:58No matter what we threw at you, you kept your cool.
03:02You calmly took on the role of Captain Fun when your boss left the retreat on the very first day.
03:08Everything's good. You're going to have a great time. You're Captain Fun.
03:10You got this. You got this. I don't got this.
03:12And Dougie.
03:14Oh my God.
03:15Oh my God. You helped him every single day.
03:17He's not going to believe you.
03:19Doug, I got your back.
03:20No one believes me.
03:21I believe you.
03:22You sound like you don't believe in yourself.
03:24I do, but he doesn't.
03:25I will back you.
03:27So this really isn't your dad?
03:28That's really not my dad.
03:29Really?
03:30That's really not my dad.
03:31Really, really.
03:32That's not my dad.
03:33But what is real is the friendship that we made.
03:36You are my brother for life.
03:37So thank you for being there for Dougie and really being there for me through this whole thing.
03:41I love you, bro.
03:42Absolutely. Love you too, man.
03:44Anthony.
03:44Hold on. Hold on. Pause. Pause. Pause.
03:47Do you really like snacks?
03:48Like, is that real?
03:49Are you really going to make a PJ Snack Talk or is that all BS?
03:53Well, now I feel like I have to.
03:55Yeah.
03:58Hey, Anthony.
04:00I'm Stephanie. I'm not Helen.
04:02And.
04:04You was my favorite.
04:06You was my favorite.
04:10I have to tell you what you did for me.
04:13As an older person, you get pushed to the side a lot.
04:18You get in the last seat.
04:19You get chosen last for the games.
04:22And you didn't ever see me that way.
04:25You saw me as a person and not some older lady.
04:28And that means the world to me.
04:31And the amount of love that you gave everybody here made my heart so huge and happy.
04:37And I'm just grateful for you.
04:39And you are a fine, fine man.
04:42And don't you ever forget that, okay?
04:44Yes, ma'am.
04:53There's more.
04:56For all the hard work you've done for us, we would like to give you something.
05:01A final paycheck in the amount of $150,000.
05:11Yes!
05:13Yes!
05:15Yes!
05:16Thank you!
05:16Yes!
05:19Woo!
05:20Yeah, man.
05:21Woo!
05:23Woo!
05:24Woo!
05:25Woo!
05:25Woo!
05:34Oh.
05:34And at this point, we have special guests
05:38who would like to join us here.
05:41And if it's okay with you,
05:43we would like to introduce you to the team.
05:58Damn, where did all these people come from?
06:01Where were y'all hiding at?
06:04The amount of people that went into making this possible
06:06for me to have this experience,
06:08it seemed like people were coming out of
06:09everywhere and everything.
06:16I'm grateful for all y'all.
06:18I have questions like,
06:20how did I go from an assistant
06:23to being in a TV show?
06:27And we've got answers.
06:28Can I get one more hug from my family?
06:30Yeah!
06:43Yeah!
06:43We are scouting Oak Canyon,
06:45which will be our home for this season.
06:48In the first season of Jury Duty,
06:49we had to worry about essentially three rooms.
06:52And now we have a site that is ten times that size.
06:55It will be the basis of the retreat.
06:59Thinking about doing a yurt with a roof piece,
07:03I have some renders here.
07:05We need to build a huge amount in addition
07:07to the existing structures
07:08to allow us to cover the storylines we have planned,
07:11as well as accommodate the entire cast and hero
07:14that are staying on site throughout the shoot.
07:16It's a massive undertaking.
07:18We're building a fake world they'll all be living in.
07:37We barely know each other's real names.
07:46We don't know everybody's names, really?
07:48We barely know each other's real names.
07:50Y'all seem so close!
07:52Like, there was no prep work at all?
07:54Oh, there was.
07:55Months of rehearsal.
07:57Hi, everyone.
07:57Welcome to the next iteration of Jury Duty.
08:04202, Act 1.
08:06Waiting for Doug to arrive and start the morning meeting.
08:09Hey, guys.
08:11I'm going to make an executive call.
08:13I'm thinking we should probably wait for my dad
08:15before we get started.
08:16No one thought otherwise.
08:17People talk about how they slept.
08:30I'm Helen Schaefer.
08:31I've been here since 1999, which is 26 years.
08:34I was the first employee, Doug called.
08:38And I was surprised that people did not like the honey butter chips from Korea.
08:43I thought it'd be a hit, but, you know, we learned.
08:47And at 5 o'clock, I'm out.
08:49I'm picking up the twins from soccer and karate.
08:52On Fridays, we go to church.
08:54Amen.
08:55Uh-huh.
08:55Hallelujah.
08:56Before doing this show, I sort of had the misconception that, like, if you show up and sort of mutter
09:02some improv, you know, within earshot of a normal person, that there's a show.
09:09Quite to the contrary, this show, it involves a very precise work.
09:14We knew that our cameras were here, here, and here.
09:17You were coming in and talking to Hiro, right?
09:20Part of your job before you get into the scene is you keep talking to him, right?
09:24Right, right.
09:24Oh, that's a, yeah, yeah.
09:25So you're talking like this because now Hiro's going to talk to me this way, right?
09:30And now I'm, now we can see the Hiro, right?
09:32Your blocking has to be very precise in certain cases.
09:35It's just, I think it's just a twisty.
09:37Go to the side of your left.
09:38Just slide your left.
09:39Yes.
09:41Oh, man.
09:42It was actually more like doing a stage musical at certain points than doing an improv show, just for sheer
09:49precision.
09:50Yeah, don't do it!
09:52Go, stop.
09:53Stop the pan out of his hand.
09:55Selmer!
09:56Hey!
09:56Hi!
09:57What's going on?
09:58Oh, there it is.
10:02You can face us.
10:04Okay.
10:04That'd be a funny place to panic.
10:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:07And we can see the pan, and then we see you like this, right?
10:09You're holding on the roof going, what?
10:10Oh, my God.
10:11And then, like, trying to move, and you kind of can't move.
10:13Okay.
10:14Yeah, Jackie!
10:17Oh, God!
10:19Oh, what is my black ass doing here?
10:21Oh, my God!
10:22Yeah!
10:22Yeah!
10:22Yeah!
10:23Oh!
10:25Pull the top, pull the top.
10:26Don't break it.
10:26What?
10:31Oh!
10:32Oh!
10:34Oh!
10:35Oh!
10:35Oh!
10:36Oh!
10:36Oh!
10:37Oh!
10:37Oh!
10:37Oh!
10:38Oh!
10:39Oh!
10:39Oh!
10:40Yeah, Matt!
10:41One, two...
10:43To prepare for the battle that happens in the Doug Cappell line, Wendy, who plays Elizabeth,
10:48and I met with Charlie, who is the stunt coordinator on this.
10:52The hardest part of rehearsing for that was doing it while balancing on the inflatable cores.
10:58yeah wow whoa i don't know how you prepare for that it is really hard to stand up there
11:04this is designed to take you so i mean if you want to reach with the elbow a little bit
11:09it's natural
11:11two and the biggest part of that cell honestly was then wendy ran over to the side and got
11:17bloodied up for that reveal let me see it oh my god oh my god it's bleeding i believe
11:24it so that he didn't know that this is all just like tv magic you're trying to create the perfect
11:29family of grandma's hot sauces we have not tried this one yet no we tried the green and you did
11:36not
11:36like the green it's smoke forward is it too smoky it's smoky it's smoky i thought maybe it tasted like
11:52tired it is day one enjoy it have a great day today we buy all the fun and games that
11:59we're
11:59going to get into for the next two weeks we're all so excited to be working with everyone in
12:03this room so thank you very much we've gone you've come this far let's have a great day
12:11okay here we go again let's do it yeah brian hero's landed hero's landed uh 2r let me see you
12:19widen out and include a piece of pj in your frame there let me get a let me get a
12:24little
12:25a long push in on our hero i think the conference room lights auto turned off that's fine
12:32i'd say we had probably 45 50 cameras we got tents everywhere everything has to be blocked out
12:40another false wall we've shortened this hallway
12:48like i just all of this for a little old me
12:58what's the proper name for this room control the control room and every day there'd be about 30
13:04people hiding in this room silently and we would sneak out every morning and every evening you know
13:10what's crazy like i was like what like we never go back here what is this all right let's uh
13:15keep on
13:16coming anthony these carts yeah yeah there's cameras in those hidden cameras everywhere everywhere
13:24there were hides everywhere like the garbage cans look like just regular old garbage cans and there's
13:30cameras behind them you're walking there's a camera tracking you on a wire yeah it was really cool
13:41oh my goodness you looked right at that lens today for five seconds yeah you look straight at his
13:47lens yeah no clue i'm trying to replay everything in my mind all at once of how how did i
13:56miss this
13:57how did i you know how how did i not see any of this going on every morning when you
14:02would leave
14:02all these people would come in spill in and then we would go back out i was kind of curious
14:08because
14:08sometimes like we would literally just go get breakfast in the morning and come back and i'm like
14:11we send hero off on a run then a hundred people swarm into this little area like cockroaches
14:22coming out of the room and then we have this quick meeting because he's coming he's coming he's
14:26coming we got to get out we got to get out oh the duck let's go we got to get
14:30out of here all right
14:31guys super super short because he's got a tiny run because it's late we got to get out of here
14:36but
14:36holy great job
14:38a hundred people swarm out and then it's just the like 14 of us
14:49yes cameras are down but like we're still in character come on dude
14:56boom
14:57oh
15:15welcome right right right in the middle where you belong man that was a little strange to me i was
15:19like how's the assistant right in the middle like i'm friends first day you were like dang they got
15:23me from center i was like
15:30did you hear about how we almost ruined our own ending today
15:35hello hey how are you well and yourself good good appreciate it of course when the notary arrived we
15:40needed him to lock his keys and his stamps in the car to delay the signing but when he pulled
15:45up and i'll
15:45just be showing you to where they're located at why is there a window this car was like you just
15:52go
15:52over and reach in yeah reach in and open it and we're like oh no marjorie we have an emergency
15:58i need her card i need you to hustle over towards the front of the welcome center
16:03hustle over towards the front of the welcome center okay so what should i do he can't play the locked
16:08bit
16:08now because the windows open on this car and he doesn't realize it so you got to come help him
16:14asap asap run you gotta hustle down there marjorie sorry you're like oh good you're here oh good
16:19you're here you know i uh hang on one second just intercept one second get him now get him now
16:26he's
16:26about to he's about to go back no no no shake his hand hey i'm marjorie hey marjorie yeah arnold
16:32how are
16:32you nice to meet you sorry nice to meet you you made it yeah i made it made it okay
16:36good hang on one sec
16:37no no no no no no no no get him no no no it's okay okay you're good so you
16:43just go back to the
16:44business center okay i'll show yeah sorry okay well stay with them stay with them stay with them okay
16:50slowly walk behind them you know we appreciate you coming out and uh helping us get through this this uh
16:57i guess deal all right make sure they don't come back john's gonna run out roll up the window we're
17:01gonna lock the car oh my god i uh i left my stamps in the car the car is locked
17:18right yes
17:20i'm gonna give mvp to marjorie you saved our butt yeah no problem i look forward to explaining to me
17:27what the hell just happened can we hold on a second listen that's where they're going
17:38those are fire trucks there was there was something that smelled like smoke earlier
17:44as of four minutes ago three helicopters are working on it it's five acres yeah there is a
17:50helicopter right there that day that the plane we were like we can't hold for sound
17:55oh the hell i mean we can't hold for sound three planes three helicopters that was wild it was
18:01insane we're making plans in case anything happens and escalates we need to move very quickly so
18:05everyone had a state of readiness of preparedness did you guys call the like for me or yeah did marjorie
18:13i don't know if did marjorie call like helicopter rescue i don't like so oh when you were missing
18:19maybe i hope she didn't call i don't think oh something we should let you know is that like we
18:29had a lot of speakers in educational classes only about like three or four of those were like real
18:35most of those were like just actors pretending to try to give advice and get jokes out of it any
18:42other
18:42questions yeah yeah can you speak about the corrosive influence of money in politics
18:49helen's eyes are closed okay just making sure we were supposed to not laugh during seminar but i
18:56failed every time i'm gonna put be a whore on my bucket list oh my god oh do not do
19:00that do not do
19:01that i couldn't help but laugh because it was ridiculous what are you doing why why did you turn my
19:08computer off this is like the fifth time today i had a huge problem with the seminars because i
19:15couldn't stop laughing but if i was an hr representative and you hand me this i would have
19:20thought that said cheerios so that's you can learn a lot by handwriting yeah thank god my penis remained
19:27in my suit but the testicles was what i was worried about the scott norris workshop talking about his balls
19:34i mean it was all shocking like we didn't know what was going to happen in the seminars a lot
19:38of
19:38the times my testicles are black they're hard they're ice cold now the dead tissue that were my
19:45testicles i take myself i mean ian roberts was so funny it was just like he really just like pushed
19:52the buttons over and over and over without breaking push snow next to my testicles and at this point i'm
19:59like god kill me one of my favorite memories was when rob and i were making out at sagebrush and
20:10i
20:10have that earwig in and just giving notes to rob's inside of his mouth going like they're still coming
20:18they're watching they're coming oh keep going it was so funny because we you could like feel each other's
20:25smiling can you see when they come back uh-uh okay amy now you have to get ready oh my
20:35goodness yo
20:36there was i mean after the empathy was hitting the moves he's coming guys he's coming to you he's
20:49going to go from saying no to kevin down to making out with other anthony i'm just like amy
21:00no herpes no hickey no relationship
21:05and this might be uh the most unbelievable thing to you but i have two kids
21:15my position here is assistant sourcing and procurement manager so i'm in charge of like um
21:23ordering all the ingredients for the hot sauce oh hey um the way he acted like
21:31i believed every moment of who he was and just his personality i was just like he's an interesting
21:37character well he's your mailman mom he's not he's i don't think he's spying he's allowed to open that
21:43that's your mailbox i don't want this to come across the wrong way but are you a mama's boy uh
21:48uh i uh
21:50yeah oh yeah hey no no shame hey hey no shame i called home to my mom just as much
21:56as i called to talk to
21:56myself this is strength right here right right and what did you think of this season's bad guys
22:03when uh true kiss showed up they were like robots honestly to me um they were just part of this
22:11big
22:11company that they all looked alike i don't really have a dog in the fight i just wish what's best
22:18for
22:18the employees i will say that i hope we don't see a big business take over and uh turn it
22:25into
22:25something that it's not my heart's been with you even though i've i've had i've needed you to hate me
22:30but i've loved you watching how am i gonna lie you did an amazing job i still have a little
22:35bit of not
22:36really but like i still have like when i see y'all i'm like these guys get them out of
22:40here
22:42they did they did a great job acting as well it was acting because uh we're not we're not robots
22:47we actually have like souls and it felt so shitty to be mean and like to these people because you
22:52guys were so i'm shitty i'm actually mean i will say this if trucus thinks they can just come in
22:59and
22:59do whatever they feel like they want to do they're in for a rude awakening well also you might like
23:05to
23:05know that uh as they became known and boy red and girl red uh we're also writers on the show
23:12these these two yeah we got reports back you were saying stuff like man you can't write this stuff
23:17i guess you can i can't correct it
23:24duggy ran away and you were like he's got to be up that mountain really gotta be yeah who sent
23:28him this
23:30yeah i mean a part of me feels like he might have went that way just to go get like
23:35lost in
23:35nature by himself like oh yeah like up in the mountain the only place i could think is like
23:40he would cross over the river and like go be up by himself in nature like up in the mountain
23:45that
23:45makes sense that makes sense that's a good point yeah we got to find him we're like that's not part
23:50of the script yet we still got three more lines hold on like okay we gotta go this whole show
23:57is
23:57predicated in a way on a normal human being being smart enough and being curious enough to make all the
24:02connections and being able to put the plot together and everything and caring enough think about
24:08coming back maybe for like at least the last couple days just so that way you get to have this
24:12experience with us and then we get to have this experience with you man i've been telling you i think
24:16you should come back but you know if you're not ready to come back then i get that it was
24:20meant
24:20to kind of be like oh maybe i'll sort of come back or whatever and that invitation came almost
24:24right away it was like come back come back you know are you the amazing father that i looked up
24:30to
24:31yes i have a daughter okay good i'm doug jr ceo of rock and grandma you're not doug jr i
24:37did it again
24:40senile old person checking out here we go i'm doug womack you know that you're the best don't worry
24:47about it i love you it's okay it's okay my son dougie womack jr oh i don't love you i
24:54love it i love
24:56you buddy i love you i love you love you you you're the best i love you take care i
25:02love you
25:04i think that's really what sold like them being you know even if this was a show everybody was acting
25:11like i still would have believed that they were related or like that was pops because they were
25:15kissing each other last one you know this is a big dude if he wants to kiss you're kissing
25:25is there anything you want to ask these guys about stuff that happened was your face really breaking
25:29out no really i'm sorry in my head i was like she's a little wild like she knows it's gonna
25:35you know
25:36mess her up but she kept going anyways when i have the allergic reaction to the crab legs was one
25:42of my favorites just because it's like you know anthony goes down the hill we had 20 minutes to kind
25:47of get me into this makeup all right game time makeup day is about to get better what do you

26:06be having
26:06this big allergic reaction your face oh my god it's like broken out you need to go get better i
26:16don't
26:16know if people make that noise but my grandma did that all the time she always had itchy ears and
26:21she
26:21would walk around the house being like and i was like that's disgusting
26:30uh amy i see you going what are you what are you thinking about right now i i just like

27:00life

27:13i would like to say one more thing like i'm really still shocked and surprised is my word because i'm
27:19still surprised like in this moment even though i know the the jig is up or however you say it
27:24like

27:38if there's one thing i can take away from the rocking grandma experience was it's not the job it's the
27:43people that you work with and the environment that you go to every day is what makes you feel like
27:46whole and makes you feel like you're doing the right thing oh yeah you had me working this hard
27:52and you had a pump the whole time my bad come here come here okay you're good man take a
27:59breath
27:59breathe no all right yeah no i appreciate it as long as you're being yourself yeah that's all that
28:04matters that's true yeah you're doing good work man keep keep rolling with the punches boss you got it
28:17it really just starts with the way that they made me feel they made me feel very welcome and at
28:22home
28:23i want to whisper something here that i meant to tell you when we were in europe but i just
28:27couldn't
28:27speak if i had a son i would want him to be you and that's the truth i know if
28:34you had a son you
28:34would be better i don't think there's very many people better than you so i definitely was taking
28:41away the fact that whenever i go back to look for my purpose in life is to make sure that
