00:00The RBC Heritage is one of the best events on the PGA Tour schedule, in my opinion,
00:05and I feel it does it a disservice in the fact that it's overshadowed by the Masters.
00:10I believe, as you mentioned, there is something called golf fan fatigue in terms of,
00:15and there's even some research behind this.
00:17I did a little bit of digging into it, the conservation of resources theory,
00:20in that fans aren't given time to replenish their stores after cognitive demand and depletion
00:25from intense major focus and investment.
00:27Now, when we moved straight into a signature event after the Masters,
00:30I don't know about you, but I felt flat this week.
00:32I felt I couldn't really enjoy it.
00:34There were parts of it, such a strong field, an amazing golf course.
00:38I just couldn't get into it, and I'm a tour-obsessed weirdo.
00:43Like, I love tour golf, and I just found myself really struggling to enjoy one of my favourite events of
00:49the year,
00:50and that is down to the scheduling.
00:51And I think, as you mentioned, we're coming into a period now where you've got maybe three signature events
00:55in sort of quick succession with the Zurich Classic popping up here between.
01:00And it just makes me, I'm baffled by it.
01:04I don't understand the benefit of that in the scheduling.
01:06And I think if you were to have said, do you know what, after the Masters we'll have the Zurich
01:10Classic,
01:10which is a great event and people can enjoy it, but it gives everyone a breather,
01:14especially those players who maybe want to rest the week after their first major of the year,
01:19and then put the RBC heredities a week after.
01:22And that might be logistically a bit more of a challenge in terms of travel and in terms of organisation.
01:26I get that.
01:27But I think that we do need to seriously consider the fact that these signature events were brought in
01:33to try and, you know, offer some bigger prize pots to make it some sort of no-cut events,
01:38some real sort of maybe a bit of a rivalry to what Liv were doing.
01:42But I don't think they've quite got it right in terms of the balance.
01:46And I certainly suffered from a major hangover this week.
