00:00How much this war and its associated inflationary impact are shaping voter sentiment as we head towards the midterms?
00:08Well, the one lesson we've certainly relearned over the last, you know, four or five years has been the Americans
00:14hate inflation and they hate paying high gas prices.
00:17One of the frustrations is that, you know, prior at the beginning of this year, we had the lowest gas
00:22prices in 50 years when you adjust for inflation.
00:25And now, of course, the gas price has gone from about three dollars, less than three dollars a gallon up
00:30to over four dollars a gallon.
00:32So American voters are not happy about that. The economy otherwise looks really good.
00:39We got some really good news late last week with the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 in the stock
00:45market, all time highs.
00:46We got a good report in terms of the amount of money that that American businesses, especially the technology industry,
00:53is investing.
00:54So the economy overall has kind of weathered the storm.
00:58But there's no question consumers are in a bad mood that consumer confidence index is at one of its lowest
01:05levels.
01:05So if the Republicans want to hold the Congress in the upcoming November elections, they're going to have to see
01:13a big decline in gas prices between now and then.
