00:00One tendency many government parties or politicians share is they like to have their face in your face.
00:06If you've been in and around Inverness lately, you cannot miss the various political party iconography
00:12splattered in places like here on the High Street or here along the A9.
00:17It's nothing new or surprising as we reach the final days to the Scottish election.
00:22I'm sure we've all received various mail-out leaflets on local candidates.
00:26But how effective are these campaign materials to potential voters?
00:30Our opinion poll showed that a majority of 98% of people do not feel impacted in any way by
00:36these materials.
00:37In fact, most Infernesians appear to find the abundance of political faces and logos to be an eyesore in another
00:43opinion poll.
00:45Even local election agent Norman McCaskill has come out publicly to say how much he can't stand the electoral posters
00:51on lamppost around Inverness.
00:53These campaign materials are still a fixture in the Highlands despite now being banned in many other areas.
01:00Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen are just a few of the council areas which don't allow permission for lamppost campaigning.
01:06But despite the recommendation of their own officers, Highland councillors voted, as recently as 2023, to continue the practice.
01:13Many point out that the posters and mail-out leaflets are unsightly, environmentally damaging or just unnecessary.
01:20And with no evidence to suggest that they raise awareness of elections or increase voter turnout, it leaves us wondering
01:27why?
01:28There's a common belief among brand consultants that people need to see the same message again and again before they
01:33trust it,
01:34whether it's soap, cereal or even a political campaign.
01:37If a face is everywhere, consumers or voters start to wonder what other option they could possibly want.
01:45Across the country of the community, Unzwischen.
01:47Except for the first to help, consumers are to have lost interest in the country in the country and that
01:48they could not have lost.
01:48You can probably not only do things like a guy or a woman but are still around the country, but
01:48that is a big challenge.
