00:54Oh, how little you understand.
00:57Wow, what is it?
00:59What? No, no, no, no, no, no.
01:01Whether it's dust clouds reducing visibility to zero,
01:04or flooded rivers threatening to wash you away,
01:08the Dakar way is to find a way.
01:12To think outside the box.
01:14You do not give up.
01:22No need to go over the top, though, mate.
01:26Sometimes it can get too much.
01:30This guy this morning left in a race car.
01:34Now, all that's left is a door,
01:37which he's pulling through the empty desert,
01:39like taking a pet for a walk.
01:43So what do we do
01:44when we feel like throwing in the towel?
01:47You just gotta get up
01:48and get moving
01:49to that funky Dakar beat.
01:53We can dance.
01:54We can crossfit.
01:56Build desert paddle courts.
01:59Even squeeze in a bit of surfing.
02:02But there is nothing that digs you out of a hole
02:05quite like digging your bike out of a hole
02:08in 40 degrees.
02:12All the time knowing
02:14you'll probably have to do the same thing again soon enough.
02:19We are suckers for punishment.
02:22Motorbite masochists.
02:28Don't tell anyone
02:29that we welcome the suffering
02:31and bring on the pain.
02:34But beware.
02:35Sometimes
02:37the desert bites back.
02:41And in case you were wondering,
02:43yeah, that really did bloody hurt.
02:46But remember,
02:48every Dakar story
02:49is a love story.
02:51And we never feel it more
02:53than when one of us
02:55is in trouble.
02:56In the desert,
02:57we may be adversaries.
02:59But when someone needs help,
03:02we stop.
03:04When one falls,
03:06we all pull them back up.
03:08Because out here,
03:09we are Dakar brothers and sisters.
03:12Back at the bivouac swapping stories,
03:15while mechanics are working miracles.
03:18We tell tales of triumph and disaster
03:20and treat both imposters just the same.
03:25And there are always reasons to laugh.
03:28Reasons to cry.
03:30Memories forged
03:31and lessons learned
03:32that will last a lifetime.
03:35So, yes,
03:37we really are here for love.
03:39Love of these moments.
03:42Love of this spectacular scenery.
03:45Love of the drama.
03:47The joy.
03:48The pain.
03:50For the love of these comrades.
03:53And for the love of life itself.
03:57Why do I do the Dakar?
04:00There are too many reasons.
04:02Too many wonders.
04:04Too much to tell.
04:05To feel.
04:06To treasure.
04:09And soon,
04:10we will come together again.
04:13To light a new fire.
04:15And to write a new love story.
04:19Because soon,
04:21the Dakar returns.
