00:00:00Most people lose their free will to those programs, and it's that uncompromising will
00:00:04where you keep training the animal to stay, to get beyond all the cravings, the feelings,
00:00:11the habits of the body, and catch yourself the best-selling author and host,
00:00:15the number one health and wellness podcast, On Purpose with Jay Shetty.
00:00:20I think the most beautiful and powerful thing in the world is a repetitive thought,
00:00:27but sometimes the most dangerous thing in the world is a repetitive thought.
00:00:31Absolutely.
00:00:32And we think about the most beautiful things we create is because we're obsessed with this new idea
00:00:37and this new thought that we want to build something, but at the same time, we know countless people
00:00:43who they have a thought every day that says, I'm unlovable, I'm unworthy, I don't deserve love in my life.
00:00:51If someone's having a negative, repetitive thought, specifically around self-worth,
00:00:59what they believe they deserve in love, where do they start with that thought?
00:01:03Well, we think primarily 90% of the time we think the same thoughts as we thought the day before.
00:01:10The challenge with that is the thought that you keep thinking over and over again becomes a belief.
00:01:15And nerve cells that fire together, wire together.
00:01:18So the more nerve cells fire, the more they develop long-term relationships and the more hardwired they become.
00:01:25The more hardwired they become, the more automatic they are.
00:01:27The more automatic they are, the more unconscious they become.
00:01:30So the process of change really requires becoming conscious of your unconscious thoughts,
00:01:35which means just because you have that thought doesn't necessarily mean it's the truth.
00:01:41If you have that thought and you accept it, you believe it, you surrender to it without analyzing it,
00:01:46that thought will lead to the same choice, which will lead to the same behavior,
00:01:50which will create the same experience, which then will produce the same emotion.
00:01:54The same emotions then drive our very same thoughts.
00:01:56In time, our biology, our neurocircuitry, our neurochemistry, our hormones,
00:02:00and even our gene expression stays the same because we're the same.
00:02:04So in the process of change, when you come up against that unconscious belief and you make it conscious,
00:02:10most people get uncomfortable when they confront that thought.
00:02:14And they're stopping an automatic process.
00:02:17And the body, which has been conditioned to be the mind because it's doing something over and over again,
00:02:22that's a habit, is craving the experience because it wants the emotion associated with it, right?
00:02:28So the thought of being unworthy produces the feeling of being unworthy.
00:02:34That feeling then, when the person feels unworthy, tends to cause the person to think more unworthy thoughts.
00:02:40And it only takes a thought and a feeling, an image of yourself and an emotion, a stimulus and response,
00:02:48and you can condition the body to memorize that behavior and that emotional state better than the conscious mind.
00:02:54And so the moment we inhibit that thought or the moment we become conscious of it and we no longer
00:02:58accept it,
00:02:59there's a biological craving that takes place in the body because the body has been conditioned to be the mind.
00:03:07So the body starts influencing the mind to think more corresponding thoughts equal to that feeling.
00:03:13So here comes the assault.
00:03:15And you're not only unworthy, you're everything else that goes along with that feeling.
00:03:20And this is where people have to make up their mind if they truly want to change.
00:03:24Because if you decide to confront that thought and make a different choice,
00:03:29get ready because you're going to feel uncomfortable.
00:03:31It's going to feel unfamiliar.
00:03:34And there's going to be some uncertainty because you're stepping out of familiar territory.
00:03:38You're stepping out of the known and you're stepping into the unknown.
00:03:41Now, this is really when you leave the bleachers and you get on the playing field
00:03:46because the brain immediately looks around in its environment to see if anything's changing
00:03:52because you're changing and you see that nothing in your world is changing
00:03:55because you actually haven't fully changed yet.
00:03:58So the moment we look for evidence in our life and we don't see it,
00:04:02sooner or later, most people accept that thought which leads to the same choice,
00:04:07which creates the same behavior, which creates the same experience,
00:04:10that produces the same feeling.
00:04:11Then they say, oh, this feels right to me.
00:04:14You know, that feels familiar because you've just returned back to the known self.
00:04:18I think that when people truly want to make up their mind to change
00:04:22and they become so conscious of those unconscious thoughts,
00:04:27they would never go unconscious to them again.
00:04:31That's the moment the body is being reconditioned to a new mind.
00:04:36If you inhibit that choice, that leads to that habit or that behavior.
00:04:40The habit is when you've done something so many times,
00:04:44the body knows how to do it better than the brain.
00:04:45Now you're stopping the body from being on its automation, on autopilot.
00:04:50And if the body's craving the feeling of unworthiness
00:04:53and you're stopping the body from feeling that way
00:04:55and you're aware in your life how you speak,
00:05:00you're aware in your life how you're feeling,
00:05:03and you're checking in and you're saying,
00:05:05do I really want to feel this way?
00:05:07Okay, this is that river of change where you're going from the old self to the new self.
00:05:11So it makes sense then.
00:05:13If those principles and biology work in that way,
00:05:16they could actually work in our favor.
00:05:18So if you said, okay, I'm going to sit down for a few minutes.
00:05:21I'm going to become so conscious of my unconscious self,
00:05:24my unconscious personality,
00:05:25that victory today would not be going unconscious
00:05:29to those thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
00:05:31Okay, let me get so familiar with them that I don't go unconscious.
00:05:34Okay, I got that down.
00:05:37I love that.
00:05:37What thoughts do I want to fire and wire in my brain?
00:05:40And if a belief is a thought that you keep thinking over and over again,
00:05:44with intention and with attention,
00:05:47you'll switch on that prefrontal cortex and assign meaning to the act
00:05:51and start installing new circuits in your brain.
00:05:54If you keep doing it over and over again,
00:05:56it becomes more hardwired.
00:05:58It becomes more automatic.
00:05:59And now you're installing a new belief that you are worthy of love.
00:06:02You are worthy of abundance.
00:06:04You are worthy to heal.
00:06:05Whatever that is.
00:06:06That's the thought you do want to believe in.
00:06:09And when it matters the most is when it's the hardest.
00:06:12Because if you don't have the circuitry in place,
00:06:14you'll default back to the old programs, right?
00:06:17So then if you said,
00:06:19how am I going to be in my Zoom calls today?
00:06:23How am I going to be in traffic today?
00:06:25How am I going to be with my ex, my co-workers?
00:06:29And you started thinking about and rehearsing
00:06:34how you were going to act in certain situations.
00:06:36The brain actually doesn't know the difference
00:06:38between the real life experience and what you're imagining.
00:06:42The research on mental rehearsal shows that
00:06:44the brain will look like in time that it's already had the experience
00:06:47and it's vacant of the experience.
00:06:48Now, keep firing and wiring those circuits
00:06:51and you're going to begin to behave that way.
00:06:53So now you're installing circuitry now to use in your life
00:06:58to get your behaviors to match your intentions.
00:07:00If you said, how would it feel to feel worthy of love?
00:07:03How would it feel to be grateful for life?
00:07:06How would it feel to be worthy of abundance?
00:07:08And you said, I'm going to teach my body emotionally
00:07:13what this feels like before the manifestation of the event.
00:07:18You're not waiting for your life to change to feel worthy.
00:07:21You're actually changing your life by becoming worthy.
00:07:24You're generating abundance.
00:07:26You're generating love.
00:07:27You're creating an elevated emotion.
00:07:29Now, our data is so compelling
00:07:32because when you truly begin to elevate your emotional state
00:07:36and you could really lock in, you know, to those elevated emotions,
00:07:41your body is so objective
00:07:44that it actually believes that it's living in a whole new environment
00:07:49before the environment changes.
00:07:51In other words, the body's believing it's in that new future.
00:07:54And if the environment signals the gene, and it does,
00:07:57and the end product of an experience in the environment is an emotion,
00:08:01you're actually signaling genes ahead of the environment,
00:08:04then your body will begin to become conditioned to a new mind.
00:08:07Now, think about this.
00:08:09If you did that every day,
00:08:10the word meditation literally means become familiar with.
00:08:13Become familiar with your old self.
00:08:15You become familiar with your new self.
00:08:17And you say, I'm not getting up until I feel this feeling.
00:08:22And then you'd say, I want to be able to bring this feeling up whenever I want.
00:08:26I'm going to keep remembering this feeling over and over again.
00:08:28It only takes a thought and a feeling,
00:08:30an image of the future and emotion,
00:08:32a stimulus and response that you can condition your body
00:08:35to believe it's living in a whole new life.
00:08:37And when you feel the emotions of your future,
00:08:39something amazing happens.
00:08:41You're no longer in lack or separation,
00:08:43so you're no longer looking for the event
00:08:46to take away that feeling of lack or separation.
00:08:48Your body's actually believing it's in the event.
00:08:51And so then you're not looking for it.
00:08:54You feel like it's already happened.
00:08:55Get ready because that's when your life begins to change.
00:08:58And so we've discovered that if you're actually practicing this
00:09:04and you immersed yourself in that experience fully for seven days,
00:09:09the amount of metabolic and biological changes
00:09:12that will take place in your body
00:09:14will be so significant that your body
00:09:17will actually believe it's living in that future.
00:09:19And yet, most of the people that come to our workshops
00:09:21are literally in a ballroom.
00:09:23There's nothing really exciting happening in the environment,
00:09:26but their body's believing they're living in a whole new life.
00:09:29And so one thought leads to a choice,
00:09:32which leads to behavior,
00:09:34which creates an experience that produces an emotion.
00:09:36So then new information, new knowledge,
00:09:39begins to cause you to think differently.
00:09:42If you can remember that knowledge
00:09:43and begin to make a different choice
00:09:45because you want to experience the truth of that information,
00:09:49you'll have to behave differently.
00:09:51And when the experience occurs
00:09:53and you feel the feeling of your abundance or wealth,
00:09:55I guarantee you,
00:09:57you're going to continue wanting to make the process of change
00:10:00something consistent in your life.
00:10:02This is why I love talking to you.
00:10:03I mean, that literally you could just,
00:10:05well, you just said there,
00:10:06I hope everyone listens to it again and again and again.
00:10:09And partly I think there's something to be said for that.
00:10:13The best things that have rewired my brain and my mind
00:10:16were things that I repeated daily.
00:10:19I took something that I loved listening to
00:10:21or loved learning or reading a paragraph of a book
00:10:23and I would literally just reprogram myself
00:10:26by giving that to my mind every single day.
00:10:30And as I'm listening to you talk,
00:10:32I think there's a few really powerful things
00:10:34I wanted to pull out.
00:10:36So when I lived as a monk and studied the Vedas,
00:10:39they would talk about thoughts in different modes.
00:10:42And there are three modes,
00:10:43the mode of ignorance,
00:10:44the mode of passion and the mode of goodness.
00:10:46And there's a hierarchy to those thoughts.
00:10:48And so the mode of ignorance would be an unfulfilling thought
00:10:52or a completely fear or insecurity-based thought,
00:10:56which would be, I am not worthy
00:10:58or I am unlucky and I can't do that.
00:11:01I can't be in love.
00:11:02No one can be in love with me.
00:11:03That's like a mode of ignorance thought.
00:11:06A mode of passion thought would be,
00:11:07I can be in love with anyone I want
00:11:09and I can find anything.
00:11:10And it's almost like you know you're lying to yourself
00:11:14and you haven't really applied what you're saying
00:11:18and it's just this big, bold statement,
00:11:20but it doesn't quite sit and resonate.
00:11:23And the mode of goodness thought is,
00:11:26I can take steps daily to create love in my life right now.
00:11:31And you start to see how people would often look at what we're saying
00:11:34and they think, oh, it's just positive thinking.
00:11:36It isn't.
00:11:37It's not just a false statement.
00:11:39What you're saying is what two words you used,
00:11:42intention and attention.
00:11:44You're actually being conscious about where that intention
00:11:47and the attention is being placed.
00:11:48You're intending that if I do something every day
00:11:51and I place my attention on X, Y, Z,
00:11:53then I can create this new reality for myself.
00:11:57Whenever I have a tough conversation coming up,
00:11:59a tough meeting, something difficult,
00:12:01I'll rehearse it in my head.
00:12:02And you're so right that you can prepare for the future.
00:12:06Even when I do skydiving or if I'm sitting in a cold plunge,
00:12:09I'm preparing my mind before I even do it.
00:12:12There's no point of just jumping in and diving in.
00:12:15I think what's really interesting is that
00:12:18partly a lot of the anxiety and stress we feel
00:12:21is because we kind of hope that we'll never feel anxiety
00:12:25and stress again.
00:12:27So there's a sense of like, okay, I can get to a place
00:12:30where I never experience anxiety.
00:12:32I almost think that that sets us up to be more hurt
00:12:36by the anxiety and inevitable uncertainty we'll feel.
00:12:39I would love to hear your thoughts.
00:12:40Gosh, let me love to respond.
00:12:42We've got three thoughts going on at the same time.
00:12:44Okay, do it.
00:12:45So to fulfill the first part of that question,
00:12:49it's an experiment, right?
00:12:51It's an experiment.
00:12:52Life is an experiment.
00:12:54So if your personality creates your personal reality
00:12:57and your personality is made up of how you think,
00:13:00how you act and how you feel,
00:13:02if you keep thinking the same way,
00:13:04you keep acting the same way,
00:13:05you keep feeling the same way,
00:13:06your life is gonna stay the same because you're the same.
00:13:09So the experiment is, okay,
00:13:11let me begin to think differently.
00:13:13So I gotta remind myself how I do wanna think
00:13:16and I have to remind myself
00:13:17of how I no longer wanna think
00:13:18so I don't default and go unconscious.
00:13:20Let me remind myself how I'm gonna behave
00:13:23so that I could actually get my behaviors
00:13:25to match my intentions.
00:13:26And let me remind myself of how I'm gonna feel.
00:13:28If I'm able to succeed in that day,
00:13:30then there should be some change in my life.
00:13:32It's the experiment.
00:13:33And if it doesn't change,
00:13:35that doesn't mean the law doesn't work for you.
00:13:38It's just, you're not that good yet.
00:13:39It's just, you just gotta keep practicing, right?
00:13:41So the act of disconnecting from your life long enough
00:13:45to remind yourself of who you do wanna be
00:13:46and who you no longer wanna be,
00:13:48that experiment then is the experiment called life.
00:13:51Now, it's not that you react.
00:13:54The question is, how long are you going to react?
00:13:57That's the real question.
00:13:58Because, I mean, I react all the time.
00:14:01Everybody does.
00:14:02But if you're going to stay there
00:14:04and you're gonna live in that emotional state,
00:14:06you will see life through that lens of that emotion, right?
00:14:10So now, it gets complicated
00:14:12because the stronger the emotion you feel
00:14:15towards certain people or problems in your life,
00:14:18the more you pay attention to them.
00:14:20And where you place your attention
00:14:21is where you place your energy.
00:14:23So from a purely biological as well as quantum state,
00:14:27we could say then,
00:14:29you're using that person or that circumstance
00:14:32to reaffirm your dependence on feeling that emotion.
00:14:36So you have to hate your enemy.
00:14:38And if your enemy dies,
00:14:40you'll find another person to hate
00:14:41because that is the response, right?
00:14:44So the body is the animal.
00:14:46It's been conditioned a certain way.
00:14:48And if it's been doing something
00:14:51and feeling something for an extended period of time,
00:14:53there's a modification of its receptor sites.
00:14:56It's needing those emotional states.
00:14:59So in the process of change,
00:15:02just be ready
00:15:03because you're going to feel uncomfortable
00:15:05a lot of the time.
00:15:06Now, the question is,
00:15:07do you wanna stay there?
00:15:09So then most people think
00:15:11they don't have any control
00:15:13over their emotional state.
00:15:14They think, I'm just this way and I feel this way.
00:15:16Well, we actually can show people
00:15:19that that's not the truth,
00:15:20that when it's the hardest, it matters the most.
00:15:24And if you're able to really work
00:15:26and train your body like you're training an animal
00:15:30to stop feeling one way
00:15:32and start feeling another way,
00:15:33if you believe that you're an eternal being,
00:15:36let's just say that,
00:15:37I mean, just most religions talk about we're eternal.
00:15:40Most sects of thought,
00:15:42there are only a few that don't.
00:15:43Whether you're going to heaven or hell
00:15:44or nirvana or on the wheel,
00:15:47you're pretty much gonna be around for a long time.
00:15:49That moment matters so much
00:15:52in the light of eternity
00:15:54because that's the moment you make up your mind
00:15:56to no longer be defined by your past.
00:16:00Why are you being defined by your past?
00:16:02Because emotions are a record of the past.
00:16:04And so then if you're feeling that emotion,
00:16:07your body is believing
00:16:08it's back in that same experience of the past.
00:16:11So the more knowledge that we have
00:16:13and understanding that justified, valid or not,
00:16:19those emotions are hurting no other person but you
00:16:22because the long-term effects of living
00:16:25by those emotional states,
00:16:26those survival states,
00:16:27are actually down-regulating genes and creating diseases.
00:16:30Sooner or later, you're gonna have to ask yourself,
00:16:33is this loving to myself?
00:16:35And forgiveness is just when you overcome the emotion,
00:16:38you take your attention off that person or that problem
00:16:40and you're freeing yourself and you're freeing them.
00:16:43So people do the best with what they think is available.
00:16:47That's my belief.
00:16:48And if you're unaware that you can control
00:16:51your emotional states,
00:16:52you'll rely on something outside of you to do that.
00:16:55Whether it's a computer game,
00:16:58whether it's a Netflix show,
00:16:59whether it's a drug,
00:17:00whatever it is that you need to make that feeling go away,
00:17:04you're dependent on your outer world.
00:17:05And I think that's a hypnosis.
00:17:07That's a conditioning.
00:17:08Teach people that you can actually regulate
00:17:10and change your emotional states.
00:17:12You give them the tools
00:17:14to literally step into a new future.
00:17:16So that process, of course, is extremely uncomfortable.
00:17:19And the question is,
00:17:21how long are you gonna stay in that emotional state?
00:17:24And 50% of the story
00:17:26that most people tell about that past experience
00:17:29isn't even the truth.
00:17:31Because they're making things up
00:17:33and they're doing that
00:17:34so that they can justify
00:17:36why they haven't changed since some past event.
00:17:39Most people reach a point in their life
00:17:42where they reach crisis or disease or diagnosis
00:17:45or loss or betrayal,
00:17:46where they finally go,
00:17:47gosh, it's time to change.
00:17:49I think change is an ongoing process.
00:17:51And the more we change,
00:17:52the more we should see evidence in our life.
00:17:54That makes it exciting.
00:17:55Yeah.
00:17:55And I think you're right that
00:17:58I've thought about this for a while,
00:17:59that I feel most people know
00:18:02that they want to change.
00:18:05And most people know what they want to change,
00:18:08but they still struggle to make a change.
00:18:11And so I found that we don't often have a values crisis.
00:18:14We have a habits crisis
00:18:16because people don't know how to reprogram their habits
00:18:20and they've started to assume
00:18:22that the way they feel is who they are.
00:18:25And I wonder how you think about this
00:18:28because I think we're living at a time
00:18:29where what you just said is like,
00:18:31you either kind of find a way to numb your feelings
00:18:34so you're turning towards something external
00:18:36to numb how you feel.
00:18:38Or today we're being told,
00:18:39well, feel every feeling and emotion completely.
00:18:44And then often we don't kind of get
00:18:45to the reprogramming phase.
00:18:47So I guess, how do you know how long
00:18:50to take a feeling seriously, effectively,
00:18:54and assessing it before you kind of take action on it?
00:18:57Feelings and emotions are the end product
00:18:59of past experiences.
00:19:00And we can remember experiences better
00:19:02because we can remember how they feel.
00:19:05The stronger the emotion we have
00:19:07to some experience in our life,
00:19:08the more altered we are inside of us.
00:19:11The more the brain freezes a frame
00:19:13and takes a snapshot.
00:19:15And that's called a long-term memory.
00:19:17That image is being bossed neurologically in the brain.
00:19:20So then what most people don't know
00:19:23is that every time they remember that event,
00:19:26that trauma, that betrayal, that loss, whatever it is,
00:19:28they're producing the same chemistry
00:19:30in their brain and body as if the event is occurring.
00:19:32So what happens over time is that conditioning process
00:19:35conditions the body to literally live in the past.
00:19:39So if a person is living by the same familiar feeling
00:19:43every single day, whether it's guilt or unworthiness
00:19:45or pain or suffering or victimization or depression
00:19:49or whatever it is,
00:19:50it's so important for them to come right up against
00:19:53that emotional state because they're coming up
00:19:56against the known.
00:19:57The question fundamentally becomes for that person,
00:20:00is it possible then to feel a different feeling?
00:20:03Now, if you cannot feel a different feeling
00:20:06other than the feeling that you're used to feeling,
00:20:09it should tell you volumes about that feeling
00:20:12because it's going to influence your very same thoughts.
00:20:15So the research that we've done over and over again
00:20:18is that the only way you're actually going to reprogram
00:20:22your brain to work in your favor is you've got to learn
00:20:27how to regulate your brainwaves.
00:20:28And you know this, of course.
00:20:31Beta brainwave patterns are thinking brainwave patterns.
00:20:34It's the analytical mind.
00:20:35It's our critical facilities.
00:20:36We're in beta right now.
00:20:38We're aware of our bodies.
00:20:40We're aware of the environment.
00:20:41We're aware of time.
00:20:42The neocortex is switched on.
00:20:44It's what plugs us into three-dimensional reality.
00:20:46It's the seat of the autobiographical self.
00:20:49There's a lot of circuits in there
00:20:51from things you've learned intellectually
00:20:53and things you've experienced in your life.
00:20:55So for the most part, it's a repository of the past, right?
00:20:58And so 90% of those thoughts that we think
00:21:01being the same thoughts as the day before
00:21:02tend to become like automatic programs.
00:21:04And they become more subconscious and more unconscious.
00:21:07So in order for us to begin to change those programs,
00:21:11we've got to get into the operating system.
00:21:14And the only way we do that
00:21:15is we've got to slow our brainwaves down
00:21:17in that thinking neocortex.
00:21:18Neocortex, the challenge for most people is
00:21:21they have so many demands in their life.
00:21:25They have so many emotional responses
00:21:29to circumstances in their life
00:21:31that they're living in a state of stress
00:21:34and living in a state of survival.
00:21:35In a state of stress and survival,
00:21:36you don't close your eyes.
00:21:37You've got to keep your eye on the ball.
00:21:39You've got to keep your attention
00:21:40on the outer environment.
00:21:41So their brains tend to work
00:21:43in a higher brainwave pattern,
00:21:45a mid-range or high-level beta brainwave pattern.
00:21:48And that's like driving your sports car in first gear.
00:21:51It's a lot of energy for the brain.
00:21:53So learning how to regulate
00:21:55and slow your brainwaves down
00:21:57is something that we've been very, very interested in.
00:21:59When you teach people how to do that,
00:22:02it could become a skill.
00:22:04And when the brain starts to relax
00:22:07and it moves into less of that chatter
00:22:10that takes place in your brain
00:22:11and more of kind of an imaginary state,
00:22:14the brain sees in pictures and images,
00:22:15it's more creative,
00:22:17we're moving into that alpha state.
00:22:18So now the door between the conscious mind
00:22:21and the subconscious mind opens up
00:22:23as we get beyond our analytical mind.
00:22:25And our analytical mind
00:22:26is actually what separates the conscious mind
00:22:28from the subconscious mind.
00:22:29So as you slow your brainwaves down,
00:22:31you get into alpha,
00:22:32you're entering the operating system.
00:22:34And that's where you can rewrite a new program.
00:22:37That's where you can rehearse a new script.
00:22:39That's where you can begin to plan your behaviors
00:22:43in an intentional way.
00:22:45If you can't change your brainwaves,
00:22:48then it's like your computer running amok
00:22:51with all of those programs
00:22:52and you yelling at it, telling it to stop.
00:22:54You're not in the operating system.
00:22:56Some people can get to the point
00:22:58where they're so relaxed
00:23:01that the body's in a light sleep
00:23:03and yet they're conscious and awake
00:23:05and now they're in this theta brainwave pattern.
00:23:07And in theta, that's a hypnotic state.
00:23:09We're very suggestible to our thoughts.
00:23:12We're very suggestible to information in that state.
00:23:16And that state then is where we see
00:23:18the most change take place.
00:23:20And so the person can literally change
00:23:22from the inside out
00:23:23when they learn how to get into the operating system.
00:23:26You've just hit the nail on the head
00:23:27with the constant experience everyone has.
00:23:30I think, again, going back to what I was saying,
00:23:32that when we're trying to make a change,
00:23:33the thing that blocks us from making the change
00:23:36is usually stress.
00:23:38If I'm trying to be a kind, loving, compassionate person,
00:23:41but I'm stressed out,
00:23:42I'm likelier to be snappy and rude and condescending.
00:23:47If I'm trying to be healthier in my diet,
00:23:50but I'm stressed out or burnt out,
00:23:52I'm going to reach for the sugary food
00:23:54or the carbs and the fat.
00:23:56Like that doesn't come from anything else but stress.
00:23:59To take away the feeling.
00:24:00To take away the feeling.
00:24:01To take away the feeling, right?
00:24:03Yeah.
00:24:03So let's get real clear
00:24:04because I think it's important for people to understand
00:24:06when we're talking about stress
00:24:07and we're talking about living and survival,
00:24:09it's so important to name those emotions
00:24:13because anger and frustration and control and hatred
00:24:18and envy and jealousy and insecurity
00:24:21and unworthiness and guilt and shame
00:24:24and suffering and depression,
00:24:27those are all derived.
00:24:29Those are emotions that are derived
00:24:31from the hormones of stress
00:24:32and psychology calls those normal states of consciousness.
00:24:36Those are altered states of consciousness
00:24:38because in stress,
00:24:40the physiology is that we're knocked out of homeostasis,
00:24:43we're knocked out of balance
00:24:44because we're perceiving some threat,
00:24:46some danger, some emergency.
00:24:47And so the stronger the emotion you feel
00:24:50to whatever stressor there is in your life,
00:24:53the more you pay attention to it.
00:24:54And so in time then,
00:24:57you have to keep your attention
00:24:58on all the important elements in your life.
00:25:00So you sit down to do a meditation
00:25:02and when you're living in stress
00:25:03and you're living in survival,
00:25:04there's only three things
00:25:05that are important in that moment.
00:25:07Your attention is on your body
00:25:08because you got to preserve it.
00:25:10Your attention is on something in your environment.
00:25:13And what's in your environment?
00:25:14People, objects, things, places.
00:25:17And you're very preoccupied with time.
00:25:20And when you're in stress and you're in survival,
00:25:23the brain goes onto a default mode
00:25:25and it's naturally trying to predict the next moment
00:25:28based on what it's learned in the past.
00:25:31And so as you'd always try to forecast the future
00:25:34based on your memory of the past,
00:25:36you can't be in the present moment, right?
00:25:38So, and yet our model of change,
00:25:41what we discovered is that the only way a person can change
00:25:44is when they get beyond their body,
00:25:47they get beyond all the elements of their environment
00:25:49and they get beyond that predictable fusion
00:25:51of the familiar past
00:25:52and they sink into the present moment,
00:25:54which is the unknown.
00:25:56So if you can't do that
00:25:58because of the hormones of stress,
00:26:00most people will sit down and they'll say,
00:26:02okay, I'm gonna close my eyes.
00:26:03I'm gonna start this process
00:26:04where I'm gonna rehearse how I'm gonna be today.
00:26:06And they start thinking about their cell phone.
00:26:08They start thinking about all their emails
00:26:09and they start thinking, I can't meditate.
00:26:11There's something wrong with me.
00:26:13It's my mother's fault.
00:26:14And they actually believe that thought to be the truth
00:26:18and then they get up and they actually reaffirm it
00:26:20and they say, I can't meditate.
00:26:24Now, I can tell you that if you are willing
00:26:27to see that thought as just the thought in your brain
00:26:30and you're curious what's on the other side of that thought,
00:26:34yeah, you're gonna feel uncomfortable.
00:26:36But if you had some tools and skills to apply
00:26:40and you were able to take your attention off your cell phone
00:26:44and settle your body back down into the present moment,
00:26:46that would be a victory.
00:26:48And then your body would say, come on,
00:26:50you gotta feel a little frustration now.
00:26:52You gotta be impatient.
00:26:53You gotta be judgmental.
00:26:55Come on, that's what you always think.
00:26:56That's how you always feel.
00:26:57And you, like an animal,
00:27:00you settle the body back down into the present moment
00:27:03and you tell it it's no longer the mind,
00:27:05that you're the mind.
00:27:06That's a victory.
00:27:08Then the body says, hey, dude, you're super busy.
00:27:11You've got a lot of things to do.
00:27:13You've got a lot of people to see.
00:27:14You've got a lot of places to go.
00:27:16You've got a lot of things to do.
00:27:17And you've been doing the same thing every day.
00:27:19Your body's gonna wanna get up and do something.
00:27:23You're gonna wanna quit
00:27:24because your brain's telling you that you can't do this.
00:27:27If you had the awareness to settle the body
00:27:30back down into the present moment,
00:27:33you would be executing a will that's greater than the program
00:27:37because most people lose their free will to those programs.
00:27:40And it's that tedium in the beginning
00:27:44that is an uncompromising will
00:27:46where you keep training the animal to stay,
00:27:50to take all of its attention off the environment,
00:27:53to get beyond all the cravings,
00:27:56the feelings, the habits of the body,
00:27:59the drives of the body,
00:28:00and catch yourself defaulting to that predictable future,
00:28:04bringing your body back into the present moment,
00:28:06siphoning energy back, your attention into the past
00:28:09based on those familiar emotions of the past.
00:28:11We've discovered that if you're willing to do that
00:28:14for just a few days,
00:28:16you could actually liberate an enormous amount of energy
00:28:19from your body.
00:28:20You go from particle to wave,
00:28:23from matter to energy,
00:28:25and you're literally transmuting those limited emotions
00:28:28into elevated emotions.
00:28:30And something really beautiful happens.
00:28:32If you're willing to fire the crucible
00:28:34and sit through that long enough,
00:28:37all of these emotions move,
00:28:40that energy moves right up into the heart.
00:28:42And the person starts falling in love with life.
00:28:46They start feeling this state of gratitude,
00:28:50this gratefulness to be alive,
00:28:52this ineffable word of relaxed and awake.
00:28:57And something really magical happens
00:29:00when we've discovered this little simple thing.
00:29:03When that energy makes it to the heart,
00:29:06there's only one place it wants to go.
00:29:09And it goes straight to the brain.
00:29:11So the person starts relaxing into their heart
00:29:15when they feel this feeling.
00:29:16And the more they relax into the heart,
00:29:18the more their brain all of a sudden
00:29:20starts becoming aroused.
00:29:23And they start going into these elevated
00:29:26gamma brainwave patterns.
00:29:28Now, gamma is not unconscious.
00:29:30Gamma is actually super conscious.
00:29:32It's actually super aware.
00:29:34You're outside the program now.
00:29:37So when that occurs
00:29:38and the brain goes into gamma brainwave patterns,
00:29:41what we discovered is not,
00:29:43it's not a little gamma.
00:29:45It's not a lot of gamma.
00:29:47It's not a whole lot of gamma.
00:29:48It's a supernatural amount of gamma.
00:29:51And we start seeing these brainwaves
00:29:53where we see theta start carrying alpha.
00:29:58And alpha starts resonating with beta.
00:30:01And beta starts creating high beta.
00:30:03And high beta starts creating gamma.
00:30:04And you see these standing waves
00:30:06of brain coherence happening.
00:30:08And the person feels so amazing
00:30:12that they don't want the moment to end.
00:30:15And so we see when they put their attention
00:30:17on their heart,
00:30:18like filling a gas tank,
00:30:21we see on the gauge, on the scan,
00:30:24this very low frequency start rising in the heart.
00:30:27The energy that the heart uses to function
00:30:31actually goes up
00:30:32because they're placing their attention there.
00:30:34And where they place their attention
00:30:35is where they place their energy.
00:30:37And then you see the parasympathetic nervous system
00:30:40come up with it.
00:30:41That's the nervous system of relaxation.
00:30:43And then we see it kind of drop.
00:30:45And we see the sympathetic nervous system
00:30:48starting to go up.
00:30:49And now sympathetic regulation is an arousal, right?
00:30:53But the arousal isn't fear.
00:30:56The arousal isn't hatred or aggression.
00:30:59The arousal isn't pain.
00:31:01That's the arousal created from survival.
00:31:03There's only one other arousal.
00:31:05And that's ecstasy.
00:31:06That's bliss.
00:31:07And the person all of a sudden feels connected
00:31:11to something greater.
00:31:12Now here's the beauty.
00:31:13We can see people do this in 15 minutes.
00:31:15The most important takeaway around all of this
00:31:19is that feeling that they're feeling
00:31:21is not coming from anywhere outside of them.
00:31:25No person's doing that.
00:31:27No wardrobe change is doing that.
00:31:30No sports car, no football game.
00:31:33Nothing is doing it to them.
00:31:35It's actually coming from within.
00:31:36That is the moment they stop looking for it
00:31:39outside of them.
00:31:40And the love affair begins.
00:31:41And so when we start feeling these elevated emotions,
00:31:45these more selfless emotions,
00:31:47it's not like you have to try to forgive.
00:31:50It actually is the side effect
00:31:53of you changing your emotional state.
00:31:55You no longer want because you feel so whole.
00:32:00How could you want anything?
00:32:02So we started interviewing people
00:32:05when they had these moments.
00:32:06And they had such an incredible amount of love
00:32:10that they felt.
00:32:10We measured their oxytocin levels.
00:32:13Their love chemicals were very elevated.
00:32:16The amount of gamma in terms of coherence
00:32:20was 200, 300, 400 standard deviations
00:32:25outside of normal in coherent gamma.
00:32:27Now three standard deviations outside of normal in gamma
00:32:30is about 2% of the population.
00:32:33200, 300, 400, a lot of energy in the brain.
00:32:35And so the brain all of a sudden
00:32:38is receiving an enormous amount of energy.
00:32:41So we've discovered relaxed in the heart
00:32:44and awake in the brain.
00:32:45And that process of transformation
00:32:46is your willingness to sit past that thought,
00:32:51past that emotion,
00:32:52and keep training the animal.
00:32:53And sooner or later,
00:32:54you can recondition it to a new mind.
00:32:56And the system for this new mind
00:32:58and this journey that you're talking about
00:33:00is meditation.
00:33:01And this is coming through a meditative practice.
00:33:04Is that similar to the breathwork meditation practice
00:33:07that you just did research on,
00:33:09or is that totally separate?
00:33:10Wow.
00:33:10Okay.
00:33:11So our week-long events
00:33:13are a full immersion experience.
00:33:16We've done the largest studies on meditation
00:33:19that have ever been done
00:33:20just because we have a community of 1,800 people
00:33:23that come to an event
00:33:24that are going to be getting up at the same time,
00:33:26doing the same thing,
00:33:28pretty much eating,
00:33:29making the same food choices,
00:33:30and pretty much a big laboratory, right?
00:33:34And so our discoveries
00:33:36in working with 1,800 people
00:33:39in measuring brain waves,
00:33:42their brain function before and after the event,
00:33:46measuring their gene expression
00:33:47before and after the event.
00:33:49We're measuring 2,882 metabolites in their blood.
00:33:53We're measuring DNA expression.
00:33:55We're measuring urine.
00:33:56We're measuring saliva.
00:33:58We're measuring the energy of the room.
00:34:00We're measuring everything.
00:34:01And meditation,
00:34:03in a sense that it's not in the traditional way,
00:34:06what we do is we look at what really works
00:34:09you know,
00:34:10we're actually looking to say,
00:34:11well, that's something
00:34:12that we can actually see a change in.
00:34:14So we teach meditation three ways.
00:34:16To become familiar with your old self
00:34:18and to become familiar with your new self.
00:34:19That's what the word meditation means,
00:34:21familiarization,
00:34:22to become familiar with.
00:34:23So we use that model for change.
00:34:24To slow your brain waves down
00:34:25and get beyond your analytical mind
00:34:27is meditation.
00:34:28And you teach your body how to do that.
00:34:30And we've discovered a formula
00:34:32that simply makes it very easy
00:34:34for people to do it.
00:34:35You practice it,
00:34:35you'll get good at it
00:34:36just like anything else you practice.
00:34:38So to get beyond the analytical mind
00:34:41is another way to reprogram ourselves.
00:34:43And then meditation is really about
00:34:45getting beyond your body
00:34:48or disconnecting from your body,
00:34:49disconnecting from your environment
00:34:51and forgetting about time.
00:34:52And that is that eye of the needle
00:34:54where we begin to make
00:34:56the most significant changes.
00:34:57So we're data driven.
00:34:59You know, we're really looking
00:35:00to see what it is.
00:35:01And when we see brains respond
00:35:03in the same way,
00:35:04it helps me enormously
00:35:06to teach the material better.
00:35:09And so the more people understand
00:35:11what they're doing
00:35:13and the more they understand
00:35:14why they're doing it,
00:35:16the more naturally
00:35:17the how becomes easier.
00:35:18And nothing is left to conjecture.
00:35:20If nothing is left to superstition
00:35:22or dogma
00:35:23or even in spiritual,
00:35:25you know, traditional words.
00:35:28Use science as the contemporary language
00:35:30to demystify that process.
00:35:32You need to give people numerous times
00:35:35to overcome themselves
00:35:36and numerous times to connect.
00:35:39Sooner or later,
00:35:40you'll start watching transformation
00:35:41right before your eyes.
00:35:43And so one of the cool things
00:35:45that we've discovered
00:35:45is that we have
00:35:46so much compelling data
00:35:49to suggest that you're greater
00:35:50than you think,
00:35:51more powerful than you,
00:35:53no more unlimited
00:35:54than you could ever dream.
00:35:55We have compelling data
00:35:56to suggest
00:35:57that your nervous system
00:35:58is the greatest pharmacist
00:36:01in the world,
00:36:02that it makes drugs
00:36:03that work better
00:36:05than any drug
00:36:06in a drugstore.
00:36:07A drug study
00:36:08is about 18 to 25%
00:36:10cause and effect causality.
00:36:12Our data is between 75
00:36:14and 85% cause and effect.
00:36:17This is a person
00:36:18creating their own pharmacy
00:36:20of anti-inflammatories,
00:36:21their own pharmacy
00:36:22of anti-carcinogenic chemicals,
00:36:24their own pharmacy
00:36:25of pain relievers.
00:36:27We're seeing this
00:36:28over and over again.
00:36:29So we have this incredible data
00:36:31that says that
00:36:32this is no longer pseudoscience.
00:36:34This is the real,
00:36:35this is really science.
00:36:36The side effect
00:36:37of a person's transformation
00:36:40is,
00:36:41has changed my belief
00:36:43in what's possible.
00:36:44I have seen people
00:36:45stand on the stage
00:36:46with stage 4 cancers
00:36:47that were in every
00:36:49single organ in their body
00:36:51that metastasized them
00:36:52and they have no sign
00:36:54of cancer in their body.
00:36:56And we have data
00:36:57that suggests that
00:36:57you put the blood
00:36:59of an advanced meditator
00:37:00in a uterine cancer cell,
00:37:02a pancreatic cancer cell,
00:37:0470% of the mitochondrial function
00:37:06in the cancer cell
00:37:07is diminished
00:37:08and mitochondria
00:37:08is the energy packets
00:37:10of the cell.
00:37:10It's taking energy
00:37:11out of the cancer cell.
00:37:12It works perfect
00:37:13with what we're seeing
00:37:15with the testimonials
00:37:17that people are telling
00:37:19around the world.
00:37:20We've seen blind people see,
00:37:22we've seen deaf people hear,
00:37:24we've seen people
00:37:25with spinal cord injuries
00:37:26walk again,
00:37:27we've seen ALS change,
00:37:30we've seen all kinds
00:37:31of unbelievable
00:37:32health conditions
00:37:33changed by a person
00:37:35simply changing
00:37:36the way they think,
00:37:37the way they act
00:37:38and the way they feel.
00:37:39How long have you seen
00:37:40certain things last?
00:37:41Like how much does
00:37:42the practice
00:37:43have to continue daily
00:37:44to sustain impact?
00:37:46Because I feel that,
00:37:48you know,
00:37:49this isn't,
00:37:49as you know,
00:37:50isn't a one-off thing
00:37:50and that isn't
00:37:51what you're encouraging.
00:37:52Like this is the experience
00:37:53of when someone's coming
00:37:55to a retreat
00:37:56or an event,
00:37:57they're having this
00:37:58incredible experience
00:37:59but then do you measure
00:38:01how people continue
00:38:02to practice?
00:38:03Yeah, it's important.
00:38:04It's super important for us
00:38:06and of course
00:38:07we have mounds of data
00:38:09but let's see
00:38:09if I can say this
00:38:10as clear as I possibly can.
00:38:14When a person
00:38:15has that arousal
00:38:17where they're feeling
00:38:18that elevated emotion
00:38:19and their eyes are closed,
00:38:22they're in a room
00:38:23with 1,800 people,
00:38:25there's music playing
00:38:26in the background,
00:38:26they're not eating,
00:38:27they're not smelling,
00:38:28they're not tasting,
00:38:29they're not moving about
00:38:30and feeling.
00:38:31On some level,
00:38:32they're having
00:38:33an inner experience,
00:38:34right?
00:38:35And the body
00:38:36is so objective
00:38:37that it's literally
00:38:38believing it's living
00:38:39in a new environment
00:38:40and so that elevated emotion
00:38:43somehow tends
00:38:44to drag the body
00:38:45right out of the past
00:38:47into the present moment.
00:38:49So many people
00:38:50with everything
00:38:52from eczema
00:38:53to muscular dystrophy,
00:38:55when they have
00:38:56those events,
00:38:57there's a biological change
00:38:59that takes place
00:39:00in their body
00:39:00where they feel
00:39:01completely differently.
00:39:03Now,
00:39:03some people heal
00:39:04all the way.
00:39:05Some people are
00:39:06out of their wheelchair
00:39:07and they're walking again
00:39:09but they're limping.
00:39:10And that doesn't mean
00:39:11it's over,
00:39:12it just means
00:39:12they made contact
00:39:13or they hit gold.
00:39:16And so there's
00:39:17varying degrees
00:39:18that we see.
00:39:19We've seen people
00:39:21for seven years
00:39:22work on a terminal
00:39:23health condition,
00:39:25it took them seven years
00:39:26to heal that health condition.
00:39:28Some people it takes
00:39:29two years,
00:39:30three years,
00:39:30some people they do it
00:39:31in three months.
00:39:32There's no predictable menu
00:39:35that we can say
00:39:36it's this way.
00:39:37Now,
00:39:37when people have
00:39:39those more profoundly
00:39:41aroused states,
00:39:42it seems like
00:39:43their change
00:39:45is much more immediate
00:39:47and much more permanent.
00:39:50But for the most part,
00:39:52we see people's response
00:39:53pretty dramatic.
00:39:54Now,
00:39:54it's also important
00:39:56to say that we have
00:39:56seen people heal
00:39:57from terminal cancers,
00:40:00stop feeling
00:40:02those elevated emotions
00:40:04and return
00:40:05to responding
00:40:06to the circumstances
00:40:07and conditions
00:40:07in their life
00:40:08and return back
00:40:09to the same personality.
00:40:11The same personality
00:40:12is the same personal reality
00:40:14and their body's believing
00:40:15it's living
00:40:16in that same environment
00:40:17and they're feeling
00:40:17the same way
00:40:18and they're in the habit
00:40:19of acting the same way
00:40:20and thinking the same way
00:40:21and lo and behold,
00:40:23the condition returns.
00:40:25We've seen people
00:40:26heal themselves
00:40:28of Parkinson's disease
00:40:29more than once
00:40:30have one response
00:40:33to some very serious event
00:40:36in their life
00:40:37that produced
00:40:37a very strong emotion
00:40:38and in one hour
00:40:40their condition returned
00:40:42because they literally
00:40:43went back
00:40:44to their old self
00:40:44and we've seen that person
00:40:46turn around
00:40:47and reverse the condition again.
00:40:49Again,
00:40:49people do the best
00:40:50with what they think
00:40:50is available.
00:40:51The person standing
00:40:51on the stage
00:40:53who's,
00:40:53we've had numerous physicians
00:40:55and researchers
00:40:55stand on the stage,
00:40:57they're the four minute mile
00:40:59they're telling the community
00:41:00I'm the example of truth.
00:41:03This is no longer philosophy,
00:41:05this is no longer theory.
00:41:06Here's my scans.
00:41:07We had someone
00:41:08with bilateral breast cancer
00:41:09just recently.
00:41:11No evidence of cancer
00:41:12in our breasts
00:41:13or any lymph nodes
00:41:14no longer in our liver.
00:41:16I'm looking out
00:41:17at the audience
00:41:18and everybody's leaning in.
00:41:21There's the four minute mile
00:41:23and that person's
00:41:24telling the truth
00:41:25and they're telling a story
00:41:26and it's not pretty,
00:41:27it's not always rosy.
00:41:29They went through
00:41:30a lot of dark nights,
00:41:31they went through
00:41:31a lot of their condition
00:41:32getting worse
00:41:33but every day
00:41:35they had to show up
00:41:36for themselves.
00:41:37If they stopped showing up
00:41:39and doing the work
00:41:40they would really not believe
00:41:42it was possible
00:41:43but if they showed up
00:41:44and did the work
00:41:45it means that
00:41:46they believe it's possible
00:41:47and I think
00:41:48when you believe
00:41:49in possibility
00:41:50you gotta believe
00:41:51in yourself.
00:41:52When you believe
00:41:52in yourself
00:41:53you gotta believe
00:41:53in possibility
00:41:54so it used to be
00:41:56a few examples
00:41:57of that
00:41:58now we have
00:41:58so many great testimonials
00:42:00so many great stories
00:42:01that now people
00:42:02it's becoming infectious
00:42:03just like a virus
00:42:05or any bacteria
00:42:06becomes infectious
00:42:07now health and wellness
00:42:08becomes as infectious
00:42:10as disease
00:42:11and you get a community
00:42:12of people
00:42:14starting to break through
00:42:15and you start seeing
00:42:16these changes
00:42:16where people stand
00:42:17on the stage
00:42:18invariably
00:42:18you're going to see
00:42:20a very strong shift
00:42:21and consciousness
00:42:22and consciousness
00:42:23is awareness
00:42:24and if you're unaware
00:42:25that you could
00:42:26actually heal yourself
00:42:27you'll make the same choice
00:42:28once you see it
00:42:30I think it starts
00:42:31creating a brush fire
00:42:33and that's really
00:42:34the exciting part
00:42:35so we've seen
00:42:36so many great testimonials
00:42:37that are undeniably
00:42:39great stories
00:42:40of transformation
00:42:40and many many
00:42:41of those people
00:42:42still no longer
00:42:43have their eczema
00:42:44still no longer
00:42:44have their Parkinson's
00:42:45still no longer
00:42:46have their cancer.
00:42:47Yeah since
00:42:48the last time we spoke
00:42:49I know your team
00:42:50of researchers
00:42:50went and did some work
00:42:51I wanted to ask you
00:42:51some questions about this
00:42:52you did some research
00:42:53on the impact
00:42:54of one minute breath work
00:42:56how does this impact
00:42:57our heart rate variability
00:42:59and how does HIV
00:43:00impact our anxiety?
00:43:02Let's talk about
00:43:03heart rate variability
00:43:04because it's an important thing
00:43:05so your brain
00:43:08is trying to control
00:43:09and predict
00:43:11everything that's
00:43:12taking place
00:43:12in your life
00:43:13because stress
00:43:13is actually created
00:43:14when you can't
00:43:15predict something
00:43:16you can't control something
00:43:17or you have the perception
00:43:18that something's
00:43:19going to get worse
00:43:20okay
00:43:20so you switch on
00:43:21that primitive nervous system
00:43:22the fight or flight
00:43:23nervous system
00:43:23and as you shift
00:43:24your attention
00:43:25from one person
00:43:26to another person
00:43:27to another thing
00:43:27to another place
00:43:28to another problem
00:43:29every one of those
00:43:30different elements
00:43:31has a neurological
00:43:32network in your brain
00:43:33so the arousal
00:43:35of the hormones
00:43:36that say pay attention
00:43:37there's danger
00:43:38as you start shifting
00:43:39your attention
00:43:40to each one of these elements
00:43:41that have neurological
00:43:42networks in your brain
00:43:43your brain starts firing
00:43:44very incoherently
00:43:46and in fact
00:43:47you could actually
00:43:48by thinking about
00:43:50your problems
00:43:50turn on the stress response
00:43:51just by thought alone
00:43:52and that's what most people do
00:43:53so now
00:43:55there you are
00:43:55you're sitting in traffic
00:43:56the heart is pumping
00:43:58because it's trying
00:44:00to get blood
00:44:00to the extremities
00:44:01because a primitive system
00:44:03is switching on
00:44:03saying that there's
00:44:04there's a predator
00:44:05there's danger
00:44:06and the heart
00:44:07is beating against
00:44:08closed arteries
00:44:10and the heart
00:44:11starts beating
00:44:12out of rhythm
00:44:12it starts beating
00:44:13out of order
00:44:14and it starts beating
00:44:14very incoherently
00:44:15so when you have
00:44:17incoherence in the brain
00:44:19and you have incoherence
00:44:20in the heart
00:44:21when waves are incoherent
00:44:22when they intersect
00:44:23with each other
00:44:24they cancel each other out
00:44:25and when they cancel
00:44:26each other out
00:44:27that's less energy
00:44:28in the brain
00:44:28if there's less energy
00:44:30in the brain
00:44:30you're going to default
00:44:32to some of those
00:44:32reflexive systems
00:44:35if energy is diminished
00:44:36in the heart
00:44:37you're not going to trust
00:44:39you're not going
00:44:40to be vulnerable
00:44:41you're not going
00:44:42to want to commune
00:44:42you're not going
00:44:43to want to connect
00:44:44you're not going
00:44:45to want to feel grateful
00:44:46it's not a time
00:44:47to feel any of those things
00:44:48it's time to run
00:44:48fight and hide
00:44:50okay so most people
00:44:51say okay well
00:44:51I had a stressful day
00:44:53I was stressed out
00:44:54the entire day
00:44:55at the end of the day
00:44:56they turn on the TV
00:44:56and they relax
00:44:59the important thing
00:45:00to realize
00:45:01is that
00:45:02if you're relying
00:45:03on something outside
00:45:04of you
00:45:04to change
00:45:05that emotional state
00:45:06you'll become
00:45:06dependent on it
00:45:07so
00:45:08is it possible then
00:45:09to begin to create
00:45:11more coherence
00:45:11in the brain
00:45:12and the answer
00:45:13is yes
00:45:13because when you're
00:45:15under the gun
00:45:15of those chemicals
00:45:16of survival
00:45:17you're narrowing
00:45:18your focus
00:45:18on the cause
00:45:19you hear something
00:45:20moving in the bushes
00:45:21you freeze
00:45:22and you narrow your focus
00:45:23and it's that narrowing
00:45:25of focus
00:45:26that tends
00:45:26to be obsessive
00:45:27when we're in stress
00:45:28we overthink things
00:45:29we overanalyze
00:45:30that actually
00:45:31we've discovered
00:45:32makes the brain worse
00:45:33and it actually makes
00:45:34the heart regulate
00:45:35more out of order
00:45:36so then we said
00:45:37okay if the brain
00:45:39is narrowing
00:45:40its focus
00:45:40and it's
00:45:41becoming
00:45:42overattentive
00:45:43what if we
00:45:44teach it
00:45:44how to
00:45:45do something else
00:45:46what if we teach it
00:45:47how to broaden
00:45:48its focus
00:45:49and instead of
00:45:50focusing on
00:45:50something material
00:45:51or something known
00:45:52just open up
00:45:53and focus on nothing
00:45:55and the act
00:45:56of broadening
00:45:57the focus
00:45:57actually cause
00:45:58a person
00:45:59to stop
00:45:59thinking and doing
00:46:00and start sensing
00:46:01and feeling
00:46:02is actually
00:46:03what starts
00:46:03to slow
00:46:04their brain waves
00:46:05down
00:46:06the redundancy
00:46:07of shifting
00:46:07your attention
00:46:08from one person
00:46:09to another person
00:46:10to another problem
00:46:10to another thing
00:46:12causes the brain
00:46:13to fire
00:46:13like a lightning storm
00:46:14in the clouds
00:46:15very incoherently
00:46:16so as you start
00:46:17to open your awareness
00:46:18and sense nothing
00:46:19we've seen this
00:46:21thousands of times
00:46:22those different networks
00:46:24that are firing
00:46:24out of order
00:46:25start to synchronize
00:46:27and what sinks
00:46:28in the brain
00:46:29links in the brain
00:46:30and the brain
00:46:30becomes more orderly
00:46:32it starts to become
00:46:33more coherent
00:46:34if you could
00:46:35learn how
00:46:36to rest your attention
00:46:37in your heart
00:46:38and where you place
00:46:39your attention
00:46:39is where you place
00:46:40your energy
00:46:42regulate your breath
00:46:43start slowing
00:46:44your breathing down
00:46:45even if you did it
00:46:46for one minute
00:46:47you could actually
00:46:48begin to change
00:46:49your brain waves
00:46:50and you could
00:46:51actually cause
00:46:52your heart
00:46:52to start functioning
00:46:54more regulation
00:46:55and more order
00:46:57if you said
00:46:58okay
00:46:59I'm going to work
00:47:00with my body
00:47:01and I'm going to
00:47:02start breathing
00:47:03and I'm going to
00:47:03start feeling
00:47:04emotions
00:47:04that I do
00:47:05want to feel
00:47:06yes it may take
00:47:07you a few minutes
00:47:08to get there
00:47:09but if you keep
00:47:10practicing it
00:47:11over and over again
00:47:12the heart
00:47:13starts producing
00:47:15a very profound
00:47:16signal
00:47:16it starts to produce
00:47:18an external
00:47:19magnetic field
00:47:19it's measurable
00:47:22so now you have
00:47:23a coherent brain
00:47:24which means
00:47:25you can get
00:47:25very intentional
00:47:28and you have
00:47:29a coherent heart
00:47:29which means
00:47:30you can feel
00:47:31you can feel
00:47:32the emotions
00:47:32of your future
00:47:33before it happens
00:47:36somehow you have
00:47:37this broadcasting
00:47:38of this wi-fi signal
00:47:39and the brain
00:47:41tends to be
00:47:42electrical in nature
00:47:43so it sends out
00:47:44an electrical charge
00:47:45into the field
00:47:46the heart is
00:47:48the magnetic charge
00:47:49it's what draws
00:47:50things to us
00:47:52it's the
00:47:53magnetic field
00:47:54and now
00:47:54you actually
00:47:56by changing
00:47:57the way you think
00:47:57and the way you feel
00:47:58you're changing
00:48:00the signal
00:48:00in the field
00:48:01and if you're able
00:48:02to maintain
00:48:03that state
00:48:04for an extended
00:48:05period of time
00:48:06I say
00:48:07something magical
00:48:08is going to happen
00:48:09in your life
00:48:10something unusual
00:48:11some unknown
00:48:12experience
00:48:12is going to occur
00:48:14if you keep
00:48:15thinking the same way
00:48:16and feeling the same way
00:48:17your life
00:48:18should stay the same
00:48:19so we do
00:48:20one minute practices
00:48:21we do five minute practices
00:48:22we do thirty minute practices
00:48:24we want to get
00:48:24so good at doing it
00:48:26with our eyes closed
00:48:26that we can do
00:48:28with our eyes open
00:48:29yeah now
00:48:29when I hear that
00:48:30like I've had
00:48:32personal genuine
00:48:33experience of that
00:48:34where I've done that
00:48:36when I've had
00:48:36when I'm having a moment
00:48:38where I'm feeling anxious
00:48:38or I'm feeling stressed
00:48:40or you know
00:48:41something unpredictable
00:48:42has happened
00:48:43and I feel that change
00:48:45in my heart rate
00:48:46and I notice
00:48:47my breathing change
00:48:48I notice it become
00:48:49more shallow
00:48:50I notice it become
00:48:51more random
00:48:51I know that when I'm
00:48:52practicing breath work
00:48:53I'm able to come back
00:48:55to stillness
00:48:56I'm able to come back
00:48:57to that sense of balance
00:48:59and then I'm able
00:48:59to actually approach
00:49:00the issue at hand
00:49:02with more clarity
00:49:04with more connectedness
00:49:06and a feeling of confidence
00:49:08but when someone else
00:49:09who may not have had
00:49:10that experience yet
00:49:11or may not be trained
00:49:12in that
00:49:12they're just thinking
00:49:13well how do I solve
00:49:14the problem
00:49:15right
00:49:15like they're listening
00:49:16to me and you're going
00:49:17well but I can't
00:49:18because I just
00:49:19I need to solve
00:49:20this problem
00:49:21like you're saying
00:49:21like I'm going to be
00:49:22thirty minutes late
00:49:24for a job interview
00:49:25or I just had
00:49:26an argument
00:49:27with my partner
00:49:27this morning
00:49:28and I've got
00:49:29a big presentation
00:49:30this morning as well
00:49:31at work
00:49:32now I'm stressed
00:49:33about it
00:49:33because I'm thinking
00:49:34about that
00:49:34or my kid
00:49:36just had got
00:49:36yeah I had to rush
00:49:37into hospital
00:49:38and now I'm late
00:49:38like I guess
00:49:39when you're looking
00:49:40at it from a very
00:49:40human point of view
00:49:42it's really hard
00:49:43to understand
00:49:43the value in this
00:49:44what do you say
00:49:45to anyone who's
00:49:46thinking and feeling
00:49:46that way
00:49:47no I think it's
00:49:48I think it's a
00:49:49reasonable conversation
00:49:50I mean sometimes
00:49:51we have to be
00:49:53super aroused
00:49:54and sometimes
00:49:55we really have
00:49:56to pay attention
00:49:57and sometimes
00:49:57there are threats
00:49:58and dangers
00:49:59where that primitive
00:50:00nervous system
00:50:00actually works
00:50:01in our favor
00:50:02and that's the
00:50:03emergency system
00:50:04but you got to
00:50:05also realize
00:50:05that you only have
00:50:06a certain amount
00:50:07of energy
00:50:07and if you're living
00:50:08in emergency mode
00:50:09for an extended
00:50:10period of time
00:50:10there's no energy
00:50:11for growth and repair
00:50:12there's no energy
00:50:13for long-term
00:50:14building projects
00:50:14and so when it's
00:50:15needed
00:50:17and you have to
00:50:18outrun the predator
00:50:19you go
00:50:19you don't sit
00:50:20and try to make
00:50:21friends with the
00:50:21predator
00:50:22we're not that good
00:50:24you run right
00:50:25the problem is
00:50:26if you keep
00:50:26that alarm system
00:50:27switched on
00:50:28all the time
00:50:29it gets very
00:50:29addictive
00:50:30it's a great answer
00:50:30it gets very
00:50:31addictive right
00:50:32and so
00:50:33I've looked at
00:50:34people's brain scans
00:50:36and watched their
00:50:37brain get worse
00:50:38in the early days
00:50:39and tap them
00:50:39on the head
00:50:40and say
00:50:40what were you
00:50:42doing in there
00:50:43100% of the time
00:50:45they were analyzing
00:50:46the problems
00:50:47in their life
00:50:48within that
00:50:49disturbing emotion
00:50:50and if an emotion
00:50:52is a record of the
00:50:53past and they
00:50:53can't think greater
00:50:54than how they feel
00:50:55they're thinking in
00:50:56the past
00:50:56there's no solution
00:50:57there
00:50:57cross the river
00:50:58get beyond the
00:51:00emotion
00:51:00and you'll see
00:51:01possibility
00:51:02because you're
00:51:03no longer in the
00:51:03box of that
00:51:04emotional state
00:51:05now that's so much
00:51:06easier said than
00:51:07done
00:51:08because you're
00:51:09going against
00:51:11thousands of
00:51:12years
00:51:13of programming
00:51:14of living
00:51:15and survival
00:51:15I mean 200
00:51:16years ago
00:51:17it wasn't easy
00:51:18being human
00:51:18I mean we're
00:51:19in survival
00:51:19all the time
00:51:20famine
00:51:22disease
00:51:22it was hard
00:51:24to be human
00:51:25and so
00:51:26we have to
00:51:27lay down
00:51:28the very thing
00:51:29we used our
00:51:30whole life
00:51:31to get what
00:51:32we want
00:51:32for something
00:51:33greater to occur
00:51:33and it goes
00:51:34against thousands
00:51:35of years
00:51:36of programming
00:51:37it's not
00:51:37something
00:51:38that you get
00:51:39good at doing
00:51:40once
00:51:40you gotta keep
00:51:41practicing
00:51:42so you really
00:51:43have two ways
00:51:45to look at it
00:51:45if you're living
00:51:46in stress
00:51:47and you're living
00:51:47in survival
00:51:48and that system
00:51:49is switched on
00:51:50then everything
00:51:50will be a threat
00:51:52everything will
00:51:52be a danger
00:51:53everything will
00:51:54be a reason
00:51:54to rush
00:51:55to be impatient
00:51:56to be frustrated
00:51:57to be judgmental
00:51:58because that's
00:51:59the consciousness
00:52:00that's the emotion
00:52:01we're living by
00:52:02so now
00:52:02you have a
00:52:04problem with a
00:52:05co-worker
00:52:05you have a problem
00:52:06with your partner
00:52:06whatever it is
00:52:07that you use
00:52:07as an example
00:52:08and you have to
00:52:09give a presentation
00:52:09now you really
00:52:11have one of two
00:52:11choices
00:52:12either be
00:52:13victimized
00:52:14by those
00:52:15conditions in your
00:52:16life and you
00:52:16stay in that
00:52:17emotional state
00:52:18and I'll say to
00:52:19you Jay
00:52:19why are you
00:52:19that way
00:52:20well I'm
00:52:20this way
00:52:21because of
00:52:21this person
00:52:22the circumstance
00:52:22that person
00:52:23or circumstance
00:52:24is controlling
00:52:25the way I feel
00:52:25and the way I
00:52:26think
00:52:26anything that
00:52:27controls the way
00:52:28I feel
00:52:28and the way
00:52:28I think
00:52:29I'm victim
00:52:29to
00:52:29right okay
00:52:30or I actually
00:52:32can be a
00:52:33creator now
00:52:33okay
00:52:34so when it's
00:52:35the hardest
00:52:35it matters
00:52:35the most
00:52:36okay
00:52:36so there's
00:52:37going to be
00:52:37a story
00:52:38a valid story
00:52:39that's going to
00:52:40go along
00:52:40with those
00:52:41emotions
00:52:41that you're
00:52:42going to
00:52:42have to
00:52:43give up
00:52:43that you
00:52:44can address
00:52:45at another
00:52:46time from
00:52:46a different
00:52:47state
00:52:48if you're
00:52:49altered in
00:52:49that state
00:52:50and you
00:52:50say something
00:52:51you do
00:52:52something
00:52:52you write
00:52:52the email
00:52:53you send
00:52:54the text
00:52:54you'll always
00:52:55regret it
00:52:55you'll always
00:52:56say I should
00:52:56have never
00:52:57said that
00:52:57I should
00:52:57have never
00:52:57done that
00:52:58we've got
00:52:58to learn
00:52:59that we're
00:52:59in an
00:52:59altered
00:53:00state at
00:53:00that time
00:53:01so there's
00:53:01only one
00:53:02of two

01:04:42change
01:04:42the way
01:04:42you
01:04:43think
01:04:43and the
01:04:43way
01:04:43you
01:04:43feel
01:04:43your
01:04:43life
01:04:44is
01:04:44going
01:04:44to
01:04:44stay
01:04:44the
01:04:44same
01:04:44because
01:04:45you're
01:04:45the
01:04:45same
01:04:46that's
01:04:46the
01:04:46way
01:04:46it
01:04:46works
01:04:47so
01:04:48fundamentally
01:04:48it's
01:04:49so
01:04:49important
01:04:49for
01:04:49people
01:04:50to
01:04:50understand
01:04:50that
01:04:51it
01:04:51is
01:04:51actually
01:04:51possible
01:04:52to
01:04:52change
01:04:52it
01:04:53really
01:04:53is
01:04:53possible
01:04:53it
01:04:54is
01:04:54yeah
01:04:54I love
01:04:55that you
01:04:55keep repeating
01:04:57that because
01:04:57it's
01:04:58I think
01:04:59that's the
01:04:59hardest part
01:05:00where you've
01:05:00just again
01:05:01the broken
01:05:01record is
01:05:02I can't
01:05:03change
01:05:03nothing
01:05:04will
01:05:04change
01:05:04and not
01:05:05realizing
01:05:06that it's
01:05:06just a
01:05:07set of
01:05:07habits
01:05:07it's
01:05:08just a
01:05:08set of
01:05:08routines
01:05:09that you've
01:05:09adopted
01:05:10as your
01:05:10reality
01:05:10and you're
01:05:11going to be
01:05:11uncomfortable
01:05:11so get
01:05:12used to
01:05:13it
01:05:13so you
01:05:13could
01:05:13either
01:05:13stay
01:05:14uncomfortable
01:05:14or you
01:05:15could actually
01:05:19let me
01:05:19memorize
01:05:20this
01:05:20emotion
01:05:21let me
01:05:21open my
01:05:22heart
01:05:22when it
01:05:22goes
01:05:23against
01:05:24everything
01:05:25that I've
01:05:25been taught
01:05:26and programmed
01:05:26to do
01:05:27and that's
01:05:28really when
01:05:28it really
01:05:28begins to
01:05:29matter
01:05:29the most
01:05:30so it's
01:05:31really an
01:05:31exciting time
01:05:32and I'm
01:05:33so happy
01:05:34to see that
01:05:34people are
01:05:35wrapping their
01:05:35minds around
01:05:36all of this
01:05:36and doing it
01:05:37for themselves
01:05:38absolutely
01:05:38have you
01:05:39found a
01:05:40difference
01:05:40and I want
01:05:40to get a bit
01:05:40more technical
01:05:41have you
01:05:41found a
01:05:42difference
01:05:43between
01:05:44meditation
01:05:44with
01:05:44breath work
01:05:45and without
01:05:46breath work
01:05:46because I know
01:05:47you do both
01:05:48and what do
01:05:49you find
01:05:49is the
01:05:50usefulness
01:05:50and benefits
01:05:51of either
01:05:52so we do
01:05:53so many
01:05:53different types
01:05:54of breath
01:05:55for so many
01:05:56different types
01:05:56of reasons
01:05:57the breath
01:05:58that we were
01:05:58talking about
01:05:59with inspire
01:06:00pulling the
01:06:00mind out
01:06:01of the
01:06:01body
01:06:01we do
01:06:01that breath
01:06:02to take
01:06:02that creative
01:06:03life force
01:06:04that sits
01:06:04at the base
01:06:05of the spine
01:06:05that energy
01:06:06that can
01:06:07create another
01:06:07life form
01:06:08the energy
01:06:09we use
01:06:10to digest
01:06:11a meal
01:06:11the energy
01:06:12that we use
01:06:12to run
01:06:13from a
01:06:13predator
01:06:15we're taking
01:06:15all that energy
01:06:16that's stored
01:06:17in the body
01:06:17emotionally
01:06:19and we're
01:06:19pulling that
01:06:20energy back
01:06:21up into the
01:06:21brain
01:06:22if you
01:06:22practice
01:06:22this breath
01:06:24repeatedly
01:06:25there will be
01:06:26a release
01:06:27of energy
01:06:27into the brain
01:06:28we have the
01:06:28data to show
01:06:29that you're
01:06:29going to have
01:06:30a lot more
01:06:30energy in your
01:06:30brain
01:06:31you're going
01:06:32to be way
01:06:32more coherent
01:06:33in your brain
01:06:34and you're
01:06:34going to be
01:06:34more conscious
01:06:35right
01:06:36and so why
01:06:36is that
01:06:36important
01:06:37why
01:06:37because
01:06:37when you
01:06:38regulate
01:06:38your brain
01:06:39waves
01:06:39we don't
01:06:39want you
01:06:39to fall
01:06:40asleep
01:06:41we want
01:06:42you to
01:06:42actually be
01:06:42really relaxed
01:06:43and awake
01:06:44at the same
01:06:45time
01:06:45so we do
01:06:46this one
01:06:47breath
01:06:47called pulling
01:06:47the mind
01:06:48out of the
01:06:48body
01:06:48that's the
01:06:49inspire series
01:06:49where we're
01:06:50taking all
01:06:51that creative
01:06:51energy
01:06:51and we're
01:06:52with the
01:06:52breath
01:06:53pulling that
01:06:53energy
01:06:53right up
01:06:54to a
01:06:54specific area
01:06:55of the
01:06:55brain
01:06:56when you do
01:06:57that properly
01:06:58your brain
01:06:58will go into
01:06:59an altered
01:06:59state
01:06:59that's the
01:07:00reason why
01:07:00we do it
01:07:01then we
01:07:02then we do
01:07:02all kinds
01:07:03of other
01:07:03breathing
01:07:03like breathing
01:07:04to change
01:07:05the heart
01:07:06rhythm
01:07:07sometimes
01:07:08when we're
01:07:08doing a
01:07:09laying down
01:07:09breath
01:07:09when we're
01:07:11practicing
01:07:11getting into
01:07:12that mystical
01:07:13state
01:07:14just when the
01:07:15audience is
01:07:15just starting
01:07:16to move
01:07:17into a
01:07:17slower brain
01:07:18wave state
01:07:18we'll do a
01:07:19very forced
01:07:20inhalation
01:07:21exhalation
01:07:22inhalation
01:07:22over and
01:07:23over again
01:07:23like a
01:07:24hiker's
01:07:24breath
01:07:24only so that
01:07:25the person
01:07:26feels euphoric
01:07:27and so
01:07:28euphoric
01:07:29that they
01:07:29don't want
01:07:29to fall
01:07:29asleep
01:07:30and they'll
01:07:31move into
01:07:31a slower
01:07:31brain wave
01:07:32pattern
01:07:32and the
01:07:33door between
01:07:33the conscious
01:07:34mind and
01:07:34the subconscious
01:07:35mind opens
01:07:36and many times
01:07:36there's a mystical
01:07:37experience waiting
01:07:38for that person
01:07:39that's transcendental
01:07:40so we do all
01:07:41kinds of
01:07:42different breathing
01:07:44techniques because
01:07:44we have different
01:07:46intentions behind
01:07:47each one of them
01:07:47if people want to
01:07:48dive into those
01:07:49where should they
01:07:49go if they want
01:07:50to kind of grab
01:07:51some of those
01:07:51techniques or
01:07:52get access
01:07:53are they only
01:07:54at the events
01:07:54there's an online
01:07:55course that we
01:07:56offer called
01:07:56the progressive
01:07:57workshop
01:07:58in the
01:07:59progressive
01:07:59workshop we
01:07:59teach a few
01:08:00of those
01:08:00breaths and
01:08:01if you come to
01:08:02a week-long
01:08:02event you'll
01:08:03have an
01:08:03opportunity to
01:08:04do all of
01:08:04them and we
01:08:04start at six
01:08:06in the morning
01:08:06we finish it
01:08:07I don't know
01:08:07Cancun the last
01:08:08one we did I
01:08:09think we finished
01:08:09at eight or
01:08:10eight thirty
01:08:10every night it
01:08:11was just a
01:08:11great group of
01:08:11people and
01:08:13we go seven
01:08:13days and some
01:08:15mornings are
01:08:15a little earlier
01:08:15but you get a
01:08:17lot of practice
01:08:17you got a lot
01:08:18of tools so by
01:08:19the time you
01:08:20leave you can
01:08:20use them in your
01:08:21life
01:08:21yeah that's
01:08:22amazing yeah
01:08:22for anyone who
01:08:23can't obviously
01:08:23get to the live
01:08:25events then the
01:08:26online course will be
01:08:27helpful but if
01:08:27you can go
01:08:28yeah and I
01:08:29think I think
01:08:29there's some good
01:08:30descriptions also
01:08:31in Becoming
01:08:32Supernatural my
01:08:33last book where
01:08:34we break it all
01:08:35down and then
01:08:36there's some
01:08:36tutorials that we
01:08:37have on our
01:08:38website to help
01:08:39you with some of
01:08:39the breathing here
01:08:40I love that Joe is
01:08:41there anything I
01:08:41haven't asked you
01:08:42about today or
01:08:42anything that's on
01:08:43your mind and
01:08:44heart that you
01:08:44really want to
01:08:45share with
01:08:45everyone or
01:08:46something you've
01:08:46been working on
01:08:47or anything you
01:08:48feel compelled to
01:08:48share gosh we
01:08:50covered a lot we
01:08:51covered a lot we're
01:08:52doing some really
01:08:53cool research with
01:08:54random event
01:08:55generators and
01:08:56random event
01:08:57generators are
01:08:58sophisticated coin
01:08:59tosses you know
01:09:00if you the more
01:09:01you toss a coin
01:09:02the more you're
01:09:02going to get 50
01:09:0350 heads heads
01:09:04or tails right so
01:09:05this machine
01:09:07generates program
01:09:07machine generates
01:09:08about a thousand
01:09:11tosses in a
01:09:12second so you're
01:09:13looking at a very
01:09:15very sophisticated
01:09:16machine and if
01:09:18you run it for
01:09:1830 minutes you're
01:09:20going to see in
01:09:20time an equal
01:09:21number of ones or
01:09:22zeros or heads or
01:09:24tails and you're
01:09:25going to see the
01:09:25straight line
01:09:25when you get a
01:09:27group of people
01:09:27together with
01:09:28brain coherence
01:09:29and heart
01:09:29coherence they're
01:09:31emitting a field
01:09:32and when we do
01:09:34healings in our
01:09:35events a hundred
01:09:37percent of the
01:09:38time when we do
01:09:39those healings
01:09:40those random
01:09:41event generators
01:09:42have dramatic
01:09:43skews to show
01:09:45that random
01:09:45events become less
01:09:47random and more
01:09:47intentional and
01:09:49it's collective
01:09:49networks of
01:09:51observers that
01:09:52determine reality
01:09:53and it's not the
01:09:53number of people
01:09:54it's not the
01:09:55amount of energy
01:09:56because it could
01:09:57be entropic
01:09:57it's the most
01:09:59coherent energy
01:10:00and we're causing
01:10:01a machine that's
01:10:02programmed to
01:10:03behave in a very
01:10:05very different way
01:10:06and I think that
01:10:07idea of community
01:10:09of people coming
01:10:11together when
01:10:12everybody else is
01:10:13in fear to show
01:10:15courage when
01:10:16everybody else is
01:10:17in pain to show
01:10:19compassion when
01:10:20everybody else is
01:10:21in anger or
01:10:22hatred that to
01:10:23show love I
01:10:24mean I think
01:10:25by nature as
01:10:27human beings I
01:10:27think we are
01:10:28wired to give
01:10:29to connect to
01:10:31commune to take
01:10:32care of one
01:10:32another to heal
01:10:33one another to
01:10:34shine for one
01:10:35another and our
01:10:36data is so
01:10:37exciting to
01:10:37actually support
01:10:39that theorem
01:10:40yeah I love that
01:10:40you brought that
01:10:41up and I'm
01:10:42that's you know
01:10:43that's very macro
01:10:43and big as well
01:10:44but also micro in
01:10:45that you're you're
01:10:46measuring people's
01:10:47daily experience I
01:10:48think you know
01:10:49when I think about
01:10:50families who live
01:10:51together or couples
01:10:52or partners or
01:10:53whoever you may
01:10:54be you know when
01:10:56you're sleeping
01:10:56together when you're
01:10:57waking up together
01:10:58at the same time
01:10:59when you're sitting
01:10:59for meals together
01:11:00when you know we
01:11:02realize and we
01:11:03know that the
01:11:03science shows that
01:11:04your heart rates
01:11:04sync up like your
01:11:05heartbeats sync up
01:11:06when you're with
01:11:08someone and I
01:11:08think it's really
01:11:10interesting because I
01:11:11think today in our
01:11:12individualistic world
01:11:13there's a big desire
01:11:14to do things at our
01:11:15own time when we
01:11:16want how we want
01:11:17but if you're truly
01:11:19trying to build a
01:11:19relationship with
01:11:20someone else or
01:11:21build community
01:11:21there's so much to
01:11:22be said for doing
01:11:24these basic practices
01:11:26at the same time
01:11:27together right
01:11:27it's really hard to
01:11:29be in community
01:11:30when you're in
01:11:30survival because
01:11:32survival makes us
01:11:33put our attention
01:11:34on ourselves right
01:11:35and I think that
01:11:37when people are not
01:11:38living in survival
01:11:39when they're out of
01:11:40survival our nature
01:11:41really is community
01:11:43is culture is
01:11:44connection and it
01:11:45starts with the
01:11:46self then it
01:11:48starts with our
01:11:48closest relationships
01:11:50and builds out
01:11:51from there and I
01:11:52think that's a
01:11:53healthy model you
01:11:54know for the world
01:11:55I mean when you're
01:11:56working on yourself
01:11:57and I'm working on
01:11:58myself and I'm okay
01:11:59with me and you're
01:12:00okay with you we're
01:12:01gonna be okay with
01:12:02everybody you know and
01:12:03I think when we're not
01:12:04okay with ourselves
01:12:05that's when it gets
01:12:07complicated
01:12:07that's amazing
01:12:08everyone who's
01:12:09listening and watching
01:12:10make sure you go and

01:12:23whatever platform
01:12:24you're using let us
01:12:25know what you'll be
01:12:26practicing I hope that
01:12:27there's parts of this
01:12:28conversation that you'll
01:12:29listen to again and
01:12:30again and again because
01:12:31you have to realize that
01:12:33the first time you hear
01:12:33it there may be some
01:12:34inspiration there may be
01:12:35some insight but the
01:12:36second time that
01:12:37repetition is going to
01:12:38help you actually apply
01:12:40rewire and reconfigure so
01:12:42make sure you repeat
01:12:43listen and make sure you
01:12:45share this with a friend
01:12:45as well so you can
01:12:46discuss it talk about
01:12:48it put it into your
01:12:49own language and your
01:12:50vocabulary that's such
01:12:51an important part of
01:12:52putting this into
01:12:53practice as well Joe
01:12:55as ever thank you so

01:13:13changing your brain you
01:13:15want to drip dopamine
01:13:17don't dump it because
01:13:18when you dump it with
