00:20Fire, medical.
00:21Police and medical.
00:22What's going on?
00:22All I know is there was fighting, gunshot,
00:25there was a dying leg in the middle of the road.
00:31Hello?
00:32Yes, we need inside.
00:34Are you right there with the patient?
00:36Yes, he's on the ground.
00:39Is he awake?
00:40Yes, he's breathing.
00:41I need to hurry up because he's bleeding bad.
00:45Avalanche is on the way.
00:48No other way.
00:49No other way.
00:51No other way.
00:52Okay, he's still breathing.
00:56Leave me.
00:59Leave me.
01:00Leave me.
01:01Leave me be careful to the hospital.
01:06The people that jumped in the court that shot him,
01:10one of them got hit in the leg,
01:12so they should be going to a hospital.
01:14Hey, they said one of our suspects might have been hit in the leg, too,
01:17So let us know if somebody shows up at the hospital
01:19as soon as you figure that out.
01:20All right, you shot the first place.
01:22He ran.
01:23He literally did it.
01:24He was going to get in the vehicle.
01:25He ran?
01:26He heard his friends say, run, run, you fucker.
01:28Ran down this creek bed.
01:30Hey, Cam.
01:32They just now told me one of the shooters ran on foot.
01:37Hey, Hauk, they said he went that way toward the creek.
01:40Let's go this way.
01:41Clear this, where he was kind of headed.
01:45Let's go around the front and work this side down here.
02:00Look at this hoodie.
02:01We tracked the suspect this way, but now we can't find him.
02:10Let's go.
02:13Pronounced at the hospital?
02:15Yeah, I gotcha.
02:17He has passed away.
02:19Being deferred to homicide.
02:32For homicide detectives, their chance of solving a murder is cut in half if they don't get a lead within
02:40the first 48 hours.
02:56So Brandon gave me a call about 30 minutes ago said, we got a homicide.
03:02Our victim already been transported?
03:04He wasn't 10-7 here.
03:05He was still, he still had a pulse when he was here.
03:07Okay.
03:08And who is him?
03:10His name is Farron, F-A-R-R-O-N, Cooper.
03:1623-year-old Farron Cooper was raised in Tulsa, where he attended Union High School.
03:22He loved music and dreamed of becoming a rapper.
03:26He had three children and another on the way.
03:32He lives here?
03:33Yeah, he, well, yes.
03:35The woman over here, his, his baby mama.
03:41That's where the guy was found.
03:44Okay.
03:45Has anybody been able to say that they heard one, two, three, four shots?
03:49Yeah, I think he, the guy that we're getting ready to talk to is saying he heard two.
03:53And the guy looks like he's been shot twice.
03:55Farron was shot once in the stomach and once in the hip.
03:58We heard two shots, we got two casings.
04:01Both of the casings are 40 caliber.
04:05If you don't mind, start photographing and collecting it.
04:07I appreciate it.
04:16An unknown black male ran that way, canine tracked for a long ways, and found a hoodie
04:20a pretty good ways back, but couldn't find suspect.
04:24I got about eight witness statements.
04:28One of our witnesses said, hey, y'all should be having another suspect to show up at a hospital
04:33with a shot in his leg.
04:34Patrol checked nearby emergency rooms and found a man recently admitted with a gunshot wound
04:39to the leg.
04:43We're gonna bring him down here.
04:44He will be transported to homicide once he's released by the hospital.
04:50Looks like a camera right there.
04:53He also has a ring doorbell there.
04:56Detectives find a security camera on the house belonging to the mother of Farron's children.
05:03Let me try to talk to baby mama.
05:09I'm Vernon.
05:10I know this is tough, okay?
05:12I'm sorry for what you're going through.
05:14We're more likely gonna have to process part of the house.
05:17The easiest and quickest way we can get that done is if you'd be willing to sign what's
05:20called a search waiver.
05:21Would you be willing to sign one, honey?
05:25Okay.
05:26I know this is a tough time for you, and we're probably gonna need you to go down to the
05:31detective
05:31division with us.
05:32It won't take long.
05:34How far along are you?
05:36Almost eight and a half.
05:37Okay, yeah.
05:38I don't want that stress on you.
05:39So we're gonna get you taken care of as quickly as we can, okay, honey?
05:45You handle these main witnesses, head on downtown, have these people brought downtown.
05:49Right.
05:49While the team continues to process the scene, Detective Jeff Gatwood heads to homicide to
05:55begin interviewing witnesses.
06:09our victim that passed, Mr. Cooper, the mother of his child.
06:13I'm gonna go interview her in a second, and we'll go from there.
06:22I'm the one that's doing this investigation of Mr. Cooper's shooting, okay?
06:26I'm Mr. Detective Ward.
06:30This shouldn't have happened, okay?
06:32But somebody shot him.
06:33So it's very important that you tell me everything that you know.
06:38Don't hold back.
06:43Frank came to see his kids.
06:45He just got out of jail today.
06:48She says when Farron was released from jail earlier today,
06:51he showed up at the house with a friend.
06:54I'm assuming he lives with you?
06:56No, he been in jail.
06:57We had broke up, like, a couple weeks before he went to jail.
07:01How long was he in jail?
07:03Two months.
07:04So how many kids do you have with Mr. Cooper?
07:08I have two, and then I'm pregnant like this.
07:12I need you to tell me about what happened today.
07:16While we're outside, my sister was coming to get my kids,
07:21and Farron, he grabbed the kids, and he took them to the car.
07:24I ran back to the house to go get some diapers and the wipes.
07:28When I came out, I was in front of the truck and pulled it off,
07:31and I see a family on the ground.
07:36I ran to the house, and I tried to get some shirts or something to hold.
07:42And I just...
07:51You're doing a really good job, sweetie.
07:53Clarification about the black truck.
07:55When did this black truck come in play?
07:57I don't...I didn't know it pulled up.
07:59I didn't know.
08:00I was in the house.
08:01Who was in that truck?
08:02I don't know.
08:03I couldn't see in that truck.
08:04It was black tint.
08:05It was all black.
08:08So, did you hear gunshots?
08:18Hold on.
08:20Hold on a second.
08:21Keep on talking to her.
08:22I've got to take this call.
08:23An officer calls Detective Gatwood from the crime scene.
08:28So, I just want to make sure I kind of have an understanding of what happened.
08:32When did...when did Farron show back up at the house?
08:35He was already at the house for a couple of hours before all this happened.
08:39How was things going when he was there at the house?
08:42Was it just you and him and the kids?
08:45He was just arguing.
08:48And he was trying to take the TV.
08:51He's drunk.
08:53He's super drunk.
08:56I want to ask you a question.
08:57And I don't want you to take it the wrong way.
08:59But it's something that we kind of need to understand, okay?
09:02I know if he shows up and he's drunk and he's having problems.
09:06And you're wanting him gone.
09:07Is there a chance that somebody else got called to come over there to help with that?
09:12No.
09:14Are you sure?
09:14He don't put his hands on me.
09:17He don't take it that far.
09:19It's none of that.
09:21We was just like a petty argument.
09:23Like, I'm gonna take the TV.
09:24No, you're not.
09:27Okay.
09:28Okay.
09:33So...
09:35Who is ?
09:38That's my friend.
09:40What do you mean your friend?
09:43So was he over there tonight?
09:45Yes, he was there.
09:48She admits there was another man already at the house when Farron showed up.
09:53So you didn't tell us that earlier, did you?
09:57I was just kind of starting to dig into the fact that I think Farron may have showed up causing
10:02problems after getting out of jail.
10:04And I was trying to ask her to maybe say that.
10:06They wasn't fighting or nothing like that.
10:08They were boom.
10:09They were shaking hands and talking.
10:12Okay.
10:13So and Farron got into an argument.
10:16No, they wasn't arguing and none of that.
10:19Like, they didn't get into an argument.
10:21Okay.
10:21Because this is what's important is that we get all the truth.
10:25Because, um, again, Farron's dead.
10:30And you have to tell the whole truth to us.
10:40Okay, so this is what happened.
10:45ince, were you down?
10:49Nope.
10:58To his Jeep to Discord.
10:59Farron walked in the house.91
11:01way. It
11:10was already there. She
11:11says her friend had been at the house for half an hour,
11:13when Farron and his friend first arrived.
11:18They nap, they talk, you know, they were chilling.
11:23And everything was cool.
11:25They all was in the room, and they all pulled out their guns.
11:30They both were sharing, you know, like showing each other, so they swap.
11:34So this is just, we're just looking at each other's guns.
11:36Yeah, they just looking.
11:39And then they leave.
11:41She says a short while later, Farron's friend left the house.
11:45We're all in the living room, and then he realized that his gun was missing.
11:50She says that her friend claimed that he couldn't find his gun.
11:55And so he asked Farron, like, hey, bro, you know where my gun is?
11:59And Farron was like, no, you know, help them look for it.
12:03You know, he just helped them look for it.
12:05So then Farron called.
12:07She says Farron called his friend that left and demanded he return so they could search
12:12his car.
12:21She says minutes later, her sister arrived to pick up her children for the evening.
12:31So Farron was putting the kids in your sister's car, right?
12:34Yes.
12:34Putting kids?
12:35I ran in the house to go get the diapers and the wipes.
12:39When I went outside, her car was gone, all the cars were gone, and Farron was on the ground.
12:44And everybody was gone.
12:46And it was just me and Farron.
12:50It sounds like to me why this happened is there was obviously people that got upset about
12:56a gun missing.
12:57And it sounds like it went south from there.
13:00But we're going to find out.
13:03So everything you've told me so far is the truth?
13:07Yeah.
13:08All right.
13:10Okay, hang tight.
13:13So after we cleared the crime scene, a family member showed up and told us about a friend
13:18that was staying with her while Farron was in jail.
13:22The same person at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.
13:28He walked out of Hillcrest, officers caught him coming out.
13:32Officers took the friend into custody and are transporting him to homicide.
13:38Now, we get, yeah, he needs to come in and talk.
13:42Witnesses, we need to still talk to them.
13:55Detective Vernon McNeil interviews a neighbor who was outside at the time of the shooting.
13:59And they kept fighting.
14:00I believe it was over a stolen gun from what I could hear.
14:05While this is happening, this damn truck pulls up.
14:09You know, like, 50.
14:11They hopped out.
14:12They were there to do what they came to do.
14:18How many people hopped out?
14:20The driver was like 300 pounds.
14:22Black dude.
14:23Okay, so the driver.
14:24He didn't shoot.
14:25He was trying to break it up.
14:27The driver was.
14:28Because he seemed like a older dude who didn't know what he just got himself into.
14:33He had three passengers with him.
14:36They were all lanky with dreads.
14:38So there's four in it.
14:39Told them to be canceled.
14:40Well, the guy who got out the passenger backseat had a hoodie on.
14:44He puts his hoodie on while he's arguing with the victim.
14:47Pulls the strings tight.
14:48He gets his gun in his hand.
14:49They're just acting hard at this point.
14:51And he points it at the victim.
14:53And the victim's like, my kids are right here.
14:57The victim lunges at him.
14:59They grabbed the guy not insane.
15:01And he shot him.
15:03I'm like, my f***ing weight.
15:06And the second one was f***ing cold blood, man.
15:09Because he had already, uh...
15:11The first one dropped him.
15:16Describe the shooter.
15:17How tall do you think he was?
15:196'2", 6'3".
15:20He was fairly taller than me.
15:22But he was really slim.
15:24He couldn't have been...
15:25I'm 27.
15:26I don't even think he was my age.
15:28He looked like a damn baby.
15:30And he had dreads.
15:31How far...
15:32How long were a dreads, do you think?
15:34Short length.
15:35Short length.
15:42You see this black avalanche comes zooming down.
15:46Lieutenant Brandon Watkins interviews another neighbor.
15:50All four doors open.
15:51And people flood off.
15:53Like, three to five people.
15:54And then shots are fired.
15:57Like, I think three, maybe.
15:58Two to the guy who died.
16:00And then another one to, I think, the guy who got back in the truck.
16:03Pulled the guy that was shot into the car.
16:06And then they pulled the other guy into the car.
16:07She says the man who was shot in the leg got into the black truck that had just shown up.
16:13I remember, because the guy who was a shooter, he was trying to get out of the truck.
16:16Like, no, no, no, just run, run.
16:18He ran down the creek.
16:19He threw his head off.
16:20He was wearing a camo hoodie with orange on the sides.
16:24He ran.
16:25He booked it.
16:25And then he loaded up the car.
16:26You could hear the door slamming.
16:27And then you could hear the screeching of the tires, and they're gone.
16:36The black truck pulls up one of the backseat passers, puts his hoodie up, yanks the cord down, pulls it,
16:42has his gun out.
16:43And then the victim says, man, don't do this in front of my kid, and tries to swipe at the
16:46gun.
16:46And then he fires twice.
16:49The dude shoots twice at him, and one of the rounds went through and hits the kid with a gunshot
16:55wound.
16:57How did he get to the hospital?
16:58They loaded him up.
17:00So after the gunshots go off, the other guys grab the gunshot dude, load him up into the car, and
17:06they're yelling at the shooter, run.
17:07The car of the black truck?
17:08The black truck.
17:09Yes.
17:09They load him up in the black truck, and they take off.
17:15This clears mud, isn't it?
17:17It's just chaotic with all the different moving parts.
17:20They had a lot of drama over guns and women, makings of a good blues song right there, that turned
17:27into a murder-splash shooting.
17:37Five hours in.
17:39Just have a seat over there.
17:43We've got a guy that we're going to go interview here in a second.
17:46He was a survivor of this deal.
17:48So he's been shot, and hopefully he'll be honest and tell us who shot him, and what's this about.
17:57Yeah, Brad?
17:58Before Gatwood can begin the interview...
18:01Okay, go ahead.
18:02...he gets a break.
18:05All right, thanks, buddy.
18:08Blackwell had an SID with a gun crime unit.
18:11He just gave me a call.
18:12I guess he has an informant that called him and said that there's a guy they call Q-Blood.
18:18He might be the possible shooter on this deal.
18:33Q-Blood went there to fight the victim, and it went from a fistfight to a gunfight.
18:47Supposedly, Q-Blood shot our victim, and then he shot his homeboy.
18:55So this kid, he may know everything that we need to know.
19:01You just got to figure out who the hell Q-Blood is.
19:03He's witnessed this.
19:04He's going to know who all was involved.
19:17You all right, big man?
19:20All right.
19:21I'm Detective Gatwood.
19:22This is Detective Ward.
19:24We're homicide detectives, okay?
19:26Yeah, homicide.
19:29Mr. Cooper?
19:30You know Mr. Cooper?
19:31I know both of you.
19:33Okay.
19:33Well, he's passed away.
19:35So, real quick.
19:37Have you been shot?
19:38Yes.
19:39We're at?
19:39Where's him all at?
19:40Okay.
19:42Where do you live at?
19:44Like, really, really, like, nowhere, but you could say...
19:49You couch surfing?
19:51No, kind of, but the pregnant chick is my girl.
19:55Okay.
19:56Like, what, for me, we...
19:58You've been staying there with her?
19:59Yeah.
20:00Okay, so let's go back to today.
20:03Were you over...
20:04Yeah, was that what happened?
20:05Were you there at the house today?
20:06He ended up to the house with my son.
20:08I'm going to go over there and get his clothes.
20:09Go on there, boom.
20:10Me and her kicking and we're chilling, talking for a minute.
20:14I'm going in.
20:15I heard some crazy ass.
20:17No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
20:19I'm here, and what's up?
20:22And, like, not nothing, like, aggressive or like that,
20:25but just happy, basically.
20:26It's like,
20:28it's our baby day.
20:29Boom.
20:31Automatically, you know,
20:33I'm thinking,
20:34this about to be tripping.
20:35But he came to me and said,
20:37Bo, I appreciate you, bro,
20:38for taking her and my kids, bro,
20:39and all this boom and boom and everything like this.
20:41I said, Bo, no problem, bro.
20:43Were there other people with him?
20:44Yes.
20:46So I go outside and go feed the dogs.
20:49When I'm going back in the house,
20:52the baby day is trying to take all her stuff,
20:55everything.
20:56Steal the out of, like,
20:57he's still the out of the house.
21:00He's trying to take the big ass TV out of the house.
21:02Boom.
21:02I tell her,
21:03Hey, man, don't worry about it, bro.
21:04Let him take it, bro.
21:05Call your brother over here.
21:07When I say this,
21:08he come grabs me.
21:09Boom.
21:09Like this.
21:10I tell him,
21:10Hey, man, get a puppy.
21:11Move him.
21:11Grab him, put him on the wall like this.
21:12Boom.
21:14So then when that happened,
21:16I'm going to give him a light.
21:18I'm like,
21:19Listen, bro.
21:20Please, bro.
21:20Just leave me out of here, bro.
21:22What was his boys doing?
21:23This is the funny thing.
21:24They left.
21:26They had a little son.
21:27Left him there.
21:30He's tripping.
21:31Coming at me sideways for no reason.
21:33Talking about how he's going to be his homies
21:35with the Dracos and all that crazy stuff.
21:37Boom, boom.
21:39I'm telling you,
21:40I don't live here, bro.
21:41I'm just here.
21:42My dog is here.
21:44My clothes is here sometimes.
21:45She's helping me wash my clothes.
21:47Boom.
21:48And I come help her with her kids.
21:50She's pregnant.
21:51I take her to the doctor.
21:53I take her to the hospital.
21:54Everything.
21:56Did somebody's gun end up missing
21:57earlier at the house?
22:00We talked to your girl.
22:01She already said you had a gun earlier
22:03and Cooper had a gun.
22:20He says she searched Farron's friend's car,
22:23but didn't find his missing gun.
22:28Okay, so what happened from there?
22:29A truck come in.
22:30Boom.
22:31And everybody jumped out.
22:33And what was this truck?
22:35What did it look like?
22:35It's a dark truck.
22:37Who said,
22:38I'm beating up everybody.
22:39They start fighting.
22:40Boom.
22:40I grabbed my mama.
22:41I grabbed right there.
22:42I got shot.
22:43Boom.
22:44I said, I'm shot.
22:45I'm shot.
22:46I'm shot.
22:46I pulled out some money out my pocket.
22:49I said, give me a ride to the hospital.
22:59So the guy in the black truck
23:00gave you a ride out of there?
23:01Yeah.
23:02For your ass money.
23:04Okay, so what happened to Mr. Cooper?
23:06You're not the only one who got shot.
23:07I didn't shoot.
23:08That's not what I said.
23:09I said, what happened to Mr. Cooper?
23:11Oh, I'm sorry.
23:12I apologize.
23:13I apologize.
23:14As soon as I got hit,
23:15I left and asked her what was going on.
23:19She said,
23:21my baby daddy got shot.
23:24Did you know anybody in that black truck?
23:26When that truck pulled up,
23:27I said, listen,
23:28I thought I knew the
23:30but to be honest,
23:32I don't know.
23:33But you have a red and black truck.
23:35Who do you think?
23:36If you thought you knew him,
23:37who is it?
23:39You need to spill it.
23:41You don't have to tell us
23:42who you think it is
23:42that did the shooting
23:43because the deal is
23:44you got shot
23:45and then you end up
23:46leaving in that truck
23:47that did the shooting.
24:01Did you call anybody
24:02coming to help you out there?
24:03No, I tried to, though.
24:10Do you understand
24:11how this thing looks?
24:12If this guy's over there
24:13and he's starting
24:14he's threatening you,
24:15like that.
24:16I didn't call nobody
24:17or none of that.
24:18I understand
24:19how the hell this looks.
24:21Listen,
24:21you got to understand
24:22where I'm coming from.
24:23I'm scared as no lie.
24:25I'm scared as no lie.
24:27But at the end of the day,
24:29I'm right.
24:30I'm right,
24:31no matter what the
24:32I did no type of aggression
24:34none of that.
24:37It's perfectly understandable
24:38for you to call up
24:39some friends and say,
24:40hey, man,
24:40I need some help over here.
24:42And the idea is
24:43they're going to come over here
24:44and he's going to see,
24:46okay,
24:47I'm out, right?
24:48One of them jumps out
24:49and does some crazy
24:51person that shot
24:53is nobody that was in the truck
24:54that went in the truck
24:56when I left.
24:57They may not have left
24:57in the truck,
24:58but they showed up
24:59in the truck.
24:59You call for some help.
25:01Some dude showed up
25:02and he was on some
25:03he jumped out
25:04and that was not
25:05what your intention was.
25:06And if that's the case,
25:07we need to know that
25:08right now,
25:09because if not,
25:10you're lumped in with him.
25:12You're responsible
25:12for this man's day.
25:15I want you to help yourself.
25:19Yeah, we want you
25:19to help yourself.
25:22I mean, I don't know
25:27if you're a suspect
25:29or not at this point.
25:30Not at all.
25:31Not even a little bit.
25:33Okay.
25:33All right?
25:40Q blood.
25:42That's the person
25:43that I
25:44I
25:45I
25:46I
25:46I
25:46That's the
25:47That's the
25:48This
25:48What did Q do?
25:50Just spill the beans.
25:53What did he do?
25:54He start fighting.
25:55Who did he start fighting with?
25:57Um,
25:58fool.
25:58I grabbed a baby mama
26:00to get out of the way
26:01so they may move.
26:02Fire.
26:03And what?
26:04The fire got shot.
26:05Who shot?
26:07Who shot?
26:12So why would Q
26:14shoot Cooper and you?
26:17Bro,
26:17I don't think I got shot
26:19on purpose.
26:21Coop said
26:21when anybody pull up
26:22he's beating everybody up.
26:24Homies,
26:24friends,
26:25everybody.
26:27He was shot.
26:28Did you see Q
26:29with a gun?
26:31Yes or no?
26:32Come on.
26:33Just be honest.
26:34Huh?
26:34Yeah.
26:37Bro.
26:37It was weird.
26:40He pulled it out.
26:43Wrecked it.
26:43I think.
26:44Put it back in.
26:45And then that's when
26:46Coop took off on him.
26:47Coop hit him.
26:48When he hit him,
26:49a gun went off.
26:50Boom!
26:52Did you see him
26:54shoot Coop?
26:55Yes or no?
26:55My life,
26:56I did not.
26:56Listen,
26:57on my son,
26:58I did not see
26:59no shoot.
27:00but
27:01I know for a fact
27:02Coop did not
27:03have a gun.
27:06Q,
27:07you need to give us
27:08his name.
27:09Hello,
27:09wait.
27:09No,
27:10listen,
27:10on my son,
27:11on my life,
27:12my last heartbeat,
27:13I don't know,
27:13not one name.
27:14Promise you.
27:15I'm about to give you
27:16some reality right here.
27:19You ask if you're
27:20to go home
27:20with your son later,
27:21you might be going
27:22to jail for felony murder.
27:23No,
27:24listen to me.
27:24Me real quick.
27:25No,
27:25listen.
27:25Listen,
27:26listen.
27:27You want to go
27:28to jail for felony murder,
27:29you want to be honest
27:29about everything.
27:30Because look,
27:31you,
27:31Q.
27:34So,
27:34you have a problem
27:35that's looking
27:35at your phone?
27:36No,
27:36hell no.
27:37You can see
27:38the time
27:39at this phone.
27:40Go get my phone.
27:43What is Q's real name?
27:46It's been,
27:47you know,
27:47it's been like
27:48pulling teeth with you
27:49to get anywhere.
27:50I didn't see him shoot,
27:51but I know for a fact
27:52that Quinn didn't,
27:53you know,
27:54quick,
27:54quick,
27:54quick,
27:55quick,
27:56quick,
27:56quick,
27:58I know him.
28:02I know him.
28:03What is it?
28:06You said it,
28:07you let it slip.
28:09I know him,
28:09Quinn.
28:11Quinn.
28:14Quinn is,
28:15you look.
28:16Gatwood sends
28:17the shooter's name
28:18to the team.
28:19What's his number?
28:22Matter of fact,
28:23I have his number.
28:26First name,
28:27Quentin.
28:28Oh,
28:30perfect.
28:30Crime analyst,
28:31Margot Hain-Bell,
28:32looks up the name
28:33and phone number
28:34in the database.
28:37Gotcha.
28:38We're looking at a photo
28:40that goes with a phone number
28:42that goes with a first name,
28:43starts with a Q,
28:45Quentin Caldwell.
28:59Pull that up,
29:00bigger picture,
29:00I'm gonna take a picture
29:01and verify it.
29:04Bam.
29:08He's born in 2002,
29:10that makes him
29:11pretty young.
29:12Quentin Caldwell
29:14grew up in Tulsa.
29:15He's 20 years old
29:16and has two daughters.
29:18He has no prior convictions.
29:29Who is this?
29:31It's Quentin.
29:33Okay.
29:36How can we find Quentin?
29:42He gives detectives
29:43the location.
29:46Okay.
29:47Hang tight.
29:47We'll be back in a minute,
29:48all right?
29:54He was minimizing
29:55a lot of things.
29:56I think he called
29:57his friends
29:58and then it went bad
29:58from there
29:59once they showed up.
30:04We do have a suspect
30:05in this thing.
30:06His name's Quinn.
30:09I'll talk to
30:09the district attorney
30:10tomorrow.
30:11It's almost
30:12two o'clock
30:12in the morning.
30:13Detective McNeil
30:15gonna run out
30:15to the victim's
30:16mother's house.
30:18We like to meet
30:19with the families
30:19of the victims
30:20and do it face-to-face,
30:22let them know
30:23who's investigating
30:24their loved one's murder.
30:36The next day,
30:38as Gatwood works
30:40on the murder warrant
30:40for Quentin Caldwell.
30:42She gave us
30:43access to her
30:44ring account
30:45and so I was able
30:46to pull a whole
30:46bunch of video.
30:48At 2.45 p.m.,
30:51it shows a friend
30:53showing up
30:54to the residence
30:55with a child.
31:00At 3.08 p.m.,
31:02it shows Farron
31:03and his friend
31:04and his friend.
31:04It shows them
31:05coming into the house
31:06carrying some kids.
31:17And then you start
31:18to hear her
31:19and Farron
31:20kind of arguing
31:22with each other.
31:32And then it sounds like
31:33it's Farron
31:34and his other friend
31:36are talking
31:36back and forth.
31:42They're talking about
31:44who has bodies
31:45and all this other stuff.
31:504.27 p.m.,
31:53him and Farron
31:54are kind of talking
31:56out in front of the car.
31:57They're not yelling,
31:58it seems like
31:58they're just talking.
32:00So the last recording
32:02is at 4.35 p.m.
32:05The shooting happens
32:07an hour after
32:08the ring stopped recording.
32:11The ring bell video
32:13really didn't help out
32:14on the rest warrant,
32:16but it did corroborate
32:17some of the statements
32:18that were taken
32:19from the witnesses.
32:20Farron just got out
32:21of jail,
32:22went over to the house,
32:23and she had a friend there.
32:26And at some point,
32:29Farron got into it
32:30with the friend.
32:32I believe there was
32:33some jealousy
32:33that was involved,
32:34but it may have been
32:35over also the gun
32:36that came up missing.
32:38After the ring video,
32:40the friend ended up
32:41calling his friends
32:42to come over to the house,
32:43and when they got there,
32:45Farron ended up
32:46getting killed
32:46in front of his kids,
32:47and she's sitting there
32:49carrying his newborn
32:50baby-to-be,
32:51so it's terrible.
32:53It's something
32:54that shouldn't have happened,
32:55that's for sure.
33:05The next morning.
33:06I just walked a warrant
33:07through today for murder,
33:09so right now,
33:11Quentin Caldwell
33:11is wanted
33:12for first-degree murder.
33:14Our warrant squad
33:15will be setting up
33:16on a location
33:17that he possibly may be at.
33:23We are going to a house
33:25where we believe
33:26a homicide suspect,
33:28Quentin Caldwell.
33:30According to sources,
33:31he was dropped off
33:32last night.
33:40I do see movement
33:41over close to the front door
33:43on our house.
33:45But as the clock
33:46ticks away,
33:47I don't think
33:48it turns us
33:49because I don't even know
33:50if the clock is six to the...
33:52they come up empty.
33:56Dang it.
34:07In the first 48,
34:09Tulsa Homicide
34:10responded to the scene
34:12where 23-year-old
34:13Farron Cooper
34:13was found shot.
34:15Learned that a man
34:16staying with the mother
34:17of Farron's children
34:18was shot and wounded
34:19after the two men
34:20had an argument.
34:21Heard from a confidential informant
34:23that the shooter
34:24was a man named
34:25Q-Blood,
34:26also known as
34:26Quentin Caldwell,
34:28and issued a warrant
34:29for Quentin's arrest,
34:31but had been unable
34:32to find him.
34:40Over the next several months...
34:42A lady called me
34:43and said she thinks
34:44she saw him.
34:45Homicide
34:46and the warrants squad
34:47continue to search
34:48for Quentin.
34:52He's dead.
34:55and turned to the public
34:56for help.
34:57Tulsa police are still
34:58looking for the man
34:59they say shot
35:00and killed another man.
35:01If you have any idea
35:03where Caldwell could be,
35:05you can just call
35:06Crimestoppers.
35:1118 months
35:12after Farron's death...
35:14When you went out there today,
35:16did you actually see,
35:17visually see,
35:18Quentin?
35:19I saw.
35:20Yes,
35:21he looked just like Quentin.
35:22Farron's mother
35:24calls detectives.
35:25I seen him go
35:26into the building.
35:28The victim's mother
35:29saw the suspect.
35:32Right now,
35:33our warrant squad
35:34is setting up
35:35on an apartment
35:35where he may have
35:36went into.
35:49He's got the north
35:50hallways covered,
35:51correct?
35:54Hey,
35:55that's him
35:55in the living room,
35:56guys.
35:59Send Quentin out.
36:13Put your hands out.
36:17Put your hands out.
36:19Put your hands out.
36:23Anybody else?
36:25Get out.
36:25Get out.
36:26Anybody else?
36:29Get out!
36:31Oh,
36:32have a seat, bro.
36:42Gabwood has
36:42jury trial in the morning
36:43where he's going to be
36:44testifying all day,
36:45so I'm going to go ahead
36:46and interview Quentin
36:47and see if he's willing
36:48to tell us
36:48why all this happened.
36:52All right, Quentin.
36:53Is it cool about
36:53calling you Quentin?
36:54All right, man.
36:56Call me Vernon.
36:56I'm a detective here
36:57at the Tulsa Police Department
36:58Homicide Unit.
36:59So, Quentin,
37:01the reason you're here
37:02has to do with
37:03the murder of a guy
37:04named Farron Cooper.
37:06I'm going to give you
37:07the opportunity
37:07to tell your side
37:08of the story.
37:11I'm scared.
37:12Oh, this is,
37:13bro, this is a scary,
37:14this is a scary situation, man.
37:18Okay.
37:19When Farron Cooper
37:20was killed,
37:20were you there?
37:23I didn't kill him.
37:25Then who did?
37:26I didn't kill him.
37:28Because this is,
37:28right now you,
37:29okay.
37:30When we pulled up
37:30in the truck,
37:33everybody got out
37:35and I'm standing
37:36on the side of the truck
37:38not doing nothing at all.
37:41F***ing tripping,
37:43he gets this wildin' old dude,
37:45he snatched a gun,
37:46cocked it back,
37:47put it to his head.
37:48He says the man
37:49who had been staying
37:49at the house
37:51threatened Farron
37:52with a gun.
37:53Tell him something,
37:53something,
37:54I'll kill you.
37:55He said he snatched a gun.
37:56Who did he snatch it from?
37:57He snatched it from me.
37:58Okay.
38:00And then,
38:01once I finally
38:02got it back from him,
38:03I'm trying to leave.
38:04He's trying to get back
38:05in the truck,
38:05go sit down.
38:06Mm-hmm.
38:07I got hit
38:08over my head.
38:10He started tussling.
38:12Who are you tussling with?
38:13With Farron?
38:15Yeah.
38:15Okay.
38:16He grabbed the gun.
38:19He had basically
38:20full possession.
38:22And then we just
38:23got to tussling
38:24and we both fell
38:25and I guess the gun went off
38:26and they hit him
38:27like right here.
38:28Mm-hmm.
38:29I got up and I ran.
38:33I got scared and I ran.
38:35He was standing
38:36and looking at me.
38:38Okay.
38:39How many times
38:39did the gun go off?
38:40Just once.
38:41Just once.
38:44I believe that
38:45there was a little fight,
38:47a little, you know,
38:48scuffle.
38:49But the independent witness said
38:51you shot twice.
38:53Once in the leg
38:53and then when Farron
38:55was on the ground
38:56you shot him again.
38:58No, no.
38:59This gentleman said
39:00it was like an execution.
39:02This guy does not know you.
39:05I'm not no killer.
39:07I'm not that kind of person.
39:11It was self-defense.
39:14He grabbed him.
39:15He came after me.
39:17He came after me.
39:22No, dude, look at me.
39:23Do I think you're some monster?
39:25No, dude.
39:25I think you made
39:26a terrible decision.
39:27Didn't want that.
39:28I'm not saying you did.
39:30But man,
39:31what it boils down to
39:32is nobody there
39:34said you acted
39:35in self-defense.
39:36I'm not saying
39:37what is I'm going to die.
39:44I ain't going to be able
39:45to see my daughter.
39:46No, you'll be able
39:47to see your daughter.
39:51How many kids you have?
39:52I have two daughters.
39:55You will have opportunities
39:57to still hold your babies
39:59and see your babies grow up.
40:03And they'll know
40:04that they still have their dad.
40:11Farron's babies,
40:12they're never going to
40:13hug their dad again.
40:15He's not going to get them,
40:16watch them grow up.
40:20All right.
40:22Hang out here, man.
40:23They'll come and get you
40:23in a minute, all right?
40:37He's kind of trying
40:38to claim it was self-defense.
40:40And nobody out there
40:41said it was in self-defense.
40:43It's sad.
40:43I mean,
40:44when you bring a gun
40:45into a disturbance,
40:46it can go south.
40:48He did show a little bit
40:49of emotion,
40:49but it's sad that that's,
40:52that he put himself
40:53in this situation.
41:11And so it took a lot longer
41:12than what we wanted to,
41:13but it's nice to have
41:15that person off the streets.
41:25It's been over a year.
41:27It's his birthday.
41:30He was here.
41:31He even been like,
41:32Mom, give me the bounce house
41:33for my birthday,
41:34just so he could do this
41:35with the kids.
41:38He just loved his kids.
41:45And I hate that the youngest
41:47when he doesn't get
41:48the opportunity
41:48to even know him,
41:50see him.
41:51I was on the phone
41:53when it happened
41:55with the baby's mother
41:56who was there.
42:00Quentin got a brother
42:01who, um,
42:02he came and saw me
42:03after it happened.
42:04He talked for about
42:05two hours.
42:06He told me about
42:06the kind of person
42:07that Quentin is.
42:09And it hurt
42:10because I knew
42:11that if Quentin
42:12had met Farron
42:13under different circumstances,
42:15that they would have
42:16actually been friends.
42:24Farron was a good son.
42:25He loved me,
42:26and we went through
42:27a lot together.
42:28So we had
42:29the friendship
42:30that I had
42:31with my son.
42:33You know,
42:33it can't be replaced.
42:35I never get it back.
