00:06Danny D what's up hey guys what's up how you doing this morning we're doing good hey so I
00:12got a real good lead for you ready yeah today you're gonna meet Wally now Wally and his brother
00:17Ron both used to live up north in Chicago area but Ron decided he needed a change of pace so
00:23he moved down south to Tennessee sounds familiar now Ron passed away a few years ago but he left
00:29everything to Wally Ron he was a massive collector his collection runs the gamut so much in fact that
00:36Wally didn't even realize the extent of it until he moved down to Tennessee to clean out his brother's
00:40house so Wally took over the workspace that used to be his brother's and a lot of that property is
00:47taken over by the enormous collection and he's ready to let go of everything very cool I texted
00:52you the coordinates so you should be able to find your way there all right thank you Danny have fun
00:56out there I will talk to you soon bye bye
01:15dang jersey look how beautiful this is this is gorgeous man which way we're going I don't know
01:19that I think that driveway right there wow this place is huge whoa whoa whoa there's a garage
01:23bay open right there let me get a flyer oh my gosh this place is massive once you get to
01:42a certain age
01:43in life you really go overboard when it comes to nesting especially when you're a collector no matter
01:49how much space you have eventually you're going to fill it up this building is incredible I'm Mike
01:57this is Jersey hey how you doing man you talked to Danny on the phone I did yes nice to
02:01meet you
02:01she's a sweetheart where are you from I'm from Illinois up there uh Crystal Lake Algonquin okay I'm
02:06from Joliet oh looks like all those neighbors I still got relatives in Shanahan oh that's perfect
02:10us Midwesterners can usually spot each other in a crowd especially if we hear each other speak
02:17the first thing Wally and I have in common is that we're Southerners by choice not by birth we
02:23both made that pilgrimage south like migratory birds but if you spend any time in Chicago it's a
02:29place that never leaves you I mean you're either going to talk about the food you're going to talk
02:33about the cubs of bears I mean there's a camaraderie celebrated in the Midwestern way how long you been
02:40down here now about three years okay so Danny said your brother passed away yes he did unfortunately
02:45okay and he was he was the collector he was a collector of everything I see that he's got a
02:49big shop he did a lot of collection of cars and bikes and all kinds of stuff well I inherited
02:53it all
02:53from my brother he passed away about three years ago his name was Ron and he was very much I'd
02:58have
02:59to say like a hermit so this is his workspace huh what was he working on everything he was a
03:05genius
03:05as far as building and doing everything all this machinery stuff down here and so forth the reason
03:10I called you was I think I have a lot of material here that would like to sell there's a
03:15list here
03:15you can see there's bicycles on here there's motor scooters I see you got like some helixes there's a
03:20Cushman a little truckster going on there and stuff I got some wizards up front you might oh you do
03:24yeah I got wizards ah here's the toy room oh yeah they've got some bikes dang very cool crazy man
03:32he's a Cushman guy look at this three-wheeler I know he's got the other three-wheelers yeah he's
03:38got the heritage man yeah look at this baby this thing is loaded down man that's cool Ron he'd be
03:45at flea markets or car show or something like almost every weekend and he was buying cars and bikes and
03:51then selling to buying all kinds of stuff but I guess he had enough money from all the shows that
03:55he was
03:55able to retire to be honest I never really anticipated this stuff there's a lot more than we thought
04:02there was I mean a lot more look at all these it's obvious that Ron had a lot of passions
04:07but
04:08it looks like transportation was really his first love there's a lot of Cushmans a lot of wizards Ron
04:14grew up in a time where there are a lot of different scooter manufacturers in America and as a kid
04:20you
04:21either had one or you wanted one and what you couldn't afford then obviously later in life you can
04:27it's a nostalgia-fueled passion have you had anybody offer you any money for the wizards not
04:33yet I'm interested possibly in this wizard because it's original paint yeah this is a motorized bicycle
04:39this is actually a chassis that was built for a wizard kid think about that a kid could motorize his
04:46bicycle back then he could walk into a shop buy a wizard kit bolted on his bike and boom you're
04:53off to
04:54the races but they weren't just for kids this was economical transportation as well for adults and
04:59this is what they call a WZ model basically where the frame was actually made specifically for this
05:05kit yeah so if you look at the frame on this this has a braise on here for this extended
05:11brake arm yeah
05:12and then the fender is factory cut all of that stuff would have had to been done at a dealership
05:17I mean if
05:18somebody was gonna put a wizard kit on a bike they would have had to knock the frame around and
05:23cut the
05:23fender out themselves this is a deeper weld fender it's got the heavy spokes on it it's got a front
05:29drum brake on it this is an embossed tank which is nice because usually they came with a decal but
05:35this one's got a big weld on it right here okay you know which isn't the end of the world
05:39it just
05:39shows that somebody had repaired it at one time it's got the s2 rim on it there's like a neural
05:44in
05:44the rim in the center of it the thing that's interesting about it is that it's got this a and
05:49s crank on
05:49it yeah what is that yeah that's Arnold Schwinn and company okay cool this is I've not seen that
05:53this is a Schwinn phantom seat and they made phantoms from 49 to 59 so this would be correct
05:59it's got the rear stand it's missing a chain guard but a lot of guys you know would pull that
06:04kind of
06:04stuff off if they were actually riding them you know what I mean headlight too yeah I mean this one
06:08is the most interesting to me just because it is a WZ frame you know and this one is original
06:14paint
06:14that's hand pinstriped man look at that that is all hand pinstriped okay this original paint on the
06:21Schwinn the pin striping that was hand done in Chicago there were people there that worked for
06:27generations at the Schwinn factory producing all of this stuff I think the retail on this thing is
06:33uh the last time I had one in this condition with little bells and whistles on it I think I
06:39got four
06:39grand for it you know that's what I got for it you know with that said you know messing around
06:44that I
06:44pay three what about the other one which one this one next to it the next next to it um
06:51this is a Dayton
06:52bicycle with a wizard kit on it um the rear fender has been cut for the belt to go through
06:58it yeah I'm
07:00really motivated on selling some of these bikes here because I need to get this show and cleaned up a
07:03little bit yeah mention about three and this why don't you make a package deal and buy three or four
07:07of
07:08them you know whatever let's go I'm ready you got a guy it's ready to make a move all right
07:13I get you
07:13I get you I mean this is actually got original white walls on it it's got a teardrop pedal to
07:18Wally
07:19it's just inventory if you're not a collector you're not emotionally connected to any of this stuff
07:24Wally is like hey I love my brother he had some great interests but he's gone and now this stuff
07:30has
07:30to go this one's a little nicer than the one I have on the floor my shop right now I've
07:34had it for sale
07:35for about a year now and I've got fifteen sixteen hundred bucks on it you know this one's nicer
07:40paint though so it's definitely painted yeah uh I do uh three thousand on this one and I do uh
07:48twelve
07:48hundred bucks for that there's 42. okay what about the black one that's all original stuff black
07:54cushman yeah um the cushman this is what they call a super eagle it's original paint it's missing a few
08:01parts but a lot of guys that collect cushman they alter them they'll beef them up by putting bigger
08:07engines in them chroming them out accessorizing the heck out of them I mean I love the cushman guys
08:13because they're usually older they're mentors and think about it they've lived this passion since
08:18they were kids they remember the cushman's on the road riding them but unfortunately a lot of these
08:24guys are aging out but now there's a market here for younger people because this is like an open door
08:30for an entry-level collector to enter this world getting on something that's two-wheeled vintage
08:36that you can ride and go okay I get it this is bad to the bone this one right here
08:40this is bone stock
08:42yeah original paint but it's missing the uh primary cover here so the retail on this thing would be like
08:48thirty five hundred bucks and rolling riding down the road you know you'd have to spend a little bit
08:52of money on it yeah you gotta go through the motor two thousand bucks okay so what do you got
08:57you got
08:58three three forty two fifty two sixty two sixty five got a deal yeah that big seats good for people
09:06like me you know yeah oh they all got big seats yeah why don't we do this sixty two fifty
09:10why don't we do
09:11sixty three but I'm gonna buy other stuff in here I'm gonna try to at least sixty two fifty sixty
09:14two fifty
09:15all right dang thank you thank you thank you thank you my friend cool all right what's going on with
09:21the claw machine it's got a great look to it it's got the tower let me sit here early claw
09:27games with
09:27this kind of action were called diggers this one is from the 1930s and it was called the New Yorker
09:34and you can see embossed in the metal the Empire State Building with the radio tower on top these games
09:41were in train stations carnivals barber shops anywhere you were standing around and you had
09:46a coin in your pocket chances are there was a machine like this am I gonna get it am I
09:50gonna get
09:51it that was it oh yeah I'm interested in this do you have any interest in selling it yeah for
10:00about
10:01a thousand dollars it's yours all right we're doing it thank you buddy appreciate it
10:13so Wally what's going on with this slot machine that's cool that's got the look right there dude
10:19first off it's the poinsettia machine and what really attracts me is as a 25-cent machine correct
10:24this is a mills poinsettia slot machine 25 cents to put in that slot was a lot of money back
10:31in 1936
10:32when the same was made 30s great depression a dozen pulls on this machine would have been the average
10:37workers entire day's pay here's a quarter let's see if we get it to work or not oh look at
10:44this
10:44it works I got a cherry so it's a working machine it's got the gooseneck on it that's where you
10:50put
10:51your coin visually it's stunning and that's what pulls you in that's what gets the customer put his
10:55quarter in there I mean the cabinet that's in really makes it special because look at this I mean
11:01this is cool here you go you can lower it down it goes down look at this thing going so
11:07the vice squad
11:07is like down the street someone's hey the vice squad's coming let's lower this thing down here
11:11and all of a sudden it's down there pull table up I don't know what you're talking about there's no
11:16slot machines in this building you're safe you know and then you throw a cash register on it right
11:20and then when they're gone there you go crank it up get your quarters out people and it works and
11:27darn thing works still ah look at that back when gambling was illegal they had vice squads they
11:33would come in and take your stuff I mean if you had a bar you weren't in business anymore you
11:37had
11:37to go underground in speakeasies across the country perhaps this machine was in one of those speakeasies
11:43this cabinet was made for this machine you bought this as an accessory yeah it's pretty neat looks like
11:49it has its original finish on the side and the wood I love the nickel plating on the top here
11:53on the
11:54quarter piece that's really interesting yeah I mean the poinsettias are cool it's different and
11:59it's a high value slot that's what's cool about it if this was a nickel machine or a dime machine
12:04the value wouldn't be as much like a nickel machine or a dime machine would be 800 to a thousand
12:11dollars
12:11but because this is a 25 set machine right this is like a two thousand dollar machine and the base
12:17is
12:17here that adds another like 200 bucks to it so I think the machine retails like 2200 dollars okay
12:23um 1500 would you do that 1750. 1600. okay yeah deal all right thanks buddy man I really love it
12:36it's just a really cool machine it's got the case you know what the vice squad is right around the
12:40corner okay I love how he's got everything organized like this right here this is his gambling section
12:46Cushman section boat motor section his brother had a great eye press steel toys ride-on toys boat motors
12:55there's just a little bit of everything in here and his brother's got all this stuff organized I mean
13:00that shows me he truly cared about a lot of this stuff he wanted to see it it's not in
13:06boxes it's not
13:07packed away what he collected it's on display look at this look at this hop along Cassidy cowboy outfit
13:13a lot of people consider hop along Cassidy the first cowboy superstar I mean the guy's been around
13:19since the early 1900s huge radio show and what that meant was all the different merch like this
13:26little cowboy outfit graphics on the box are brilliant I love this piece look at that oh my
13:32gosh oh the whole thing brand the original paper oh my god look at that look at that size 6
13:40it's got
13:41the Christmas box on it oh my gosh look at that bar 20 ranch unbelievable first time touched by human
13:49hands only me and the person that put it in the box it's nuts it's new old stock okay ready
13:5580 bucks
13:57okay I think I can get 150 out of it yeah I think so brand new all right now it's
14:00all wrapped and
14:00everything yeah look at that there was so much hop along Cassidy merch but not a lot of it that's
14:07untouched this is so cool wow this is cool look at this thing dude this is an amusement park machine
14:14gun yeah super commando machine gun man this is not a gun where it's shooting live ammunition
14:19this is a bb gun in the appropriate setting this was a lot of fun for a lot of people
14:23I remember this
14:24growing up as a kid on the boardwalk this is actually a game look it's all bb's in here and
14:29you'd have a bunch of these on a stand you put your money in you start shooting away and out
14:34in the
14:35shooting gallery you'd have something you'd be shooting at and you press the button down it would
14:38go pop pop pop or you hold it down and it'll fire it like rapid like a machine gun and
14:42you would
14:43win a prize you know win a bear or something for your girl those were pneumatic powered air power
14:47this one's electric you plug it into wall this is from the late 50s early 60s I was looking over
14:52here too
14:53sort of crate I think this is the crate for it yeah that's the crate for it look at that
15:00it's the
15:00super commando machine gun oh wow manufactured by Chicago machine division of the Chicago dynamic
15:07industries that is cool I mean to have the original shipping crate for it if it's for a carnival
15:13they're going from place to place you could pack this machine up safely look at it fits right in there
15:17wow this is nice look at that's how you pack it in there it's cool um it's cool yeah because
15:23it's
15:23got the crate is really exciting all right um I could see this thing in a retail kind of deal
15:29probably around you know anywhere between twenty five hundred three thousand dollars wow I'd be
15:33interested for like twelve hundred bucks I mean I love it it's really nice condition has been out
15:38in the weather it's got its original crate the plastic case is still nice up top you know it's got
15:42the sight on it it's not broken it's on a stand what makes it easy to display yes I mean
15:47I think
15:47I can probably sell this thing for two grand fifteen let's go fifteen hundred yeah done okay thank you
15:52buddy all right good all right all right we're swinging now we can take some ducks out
16:04so I'm looking around a lot of these tethered cars are real deal some of them are reproductions
16:10like that car's reproduction someone made that car but if you're interested in selling the tethered
16:15cars okay I'm interested in buying them yeah some people call these tethered cars other people call
16:20them spin disease basically there was a stake in the ground there was a concrete track there was a wire
16:26extended to the car and the car ran on that track to me they're incredible because these things have
16:32engines spark plugs fueled and believe it or not some of these cars would hit 200 miles an hour
16:39this is really cool that one's missing a tire let me grab one of these chairs grab some of the
16:45stuff down jersey you got to have mechanical knowledge to use these things they have a little
16:49internal combustion motor and it's like you know small chainsaw motor almost running these things
16:53all right there's a lot of guys that collect tethered cars some of them can be extremely expensive
16:59I mean there's clubs there's guys that still run these cars I mean these things are epic
17:04that's a beautiful car it's not really a toy they're dangerous they had to put a fence
17:09around the arena so if one broke loose from the tether it's not gonna hurt anybody this is cool
17:14I've got one of these that's cool this is the same exact car it's missing the cover on the bottom
17:19of
17:19it there but still it's in good shape there's another one wow look at that man that's it I mean
17:25that's like wildest part of your imagination one of the coolest ones here is this dueling brothers
17:31frog I love the shape airflow streamline I mean all of these were so unique and so different this is
17:38like a souped up soapbox derby car look at that thing the body's wood this thing here this has been
17:44repainted let me see look at this stuff look at that jersey they're cool I love this one Mike look
17:49it's got the louvers in the bottom I know dude that thing is killer everything is airflow it's
17:54streamlined I mean these are miniature versions of badassery hill climber comet look at that that's
18:01cool too much I know there's no motor yeah there's no motor in it but still got great body
18:05got a great chassis some of these cars are just chassis there's no motor in them but still man
18:11they have value this one's confusing to me just because of how crude it is there's no engine in it
18:17looks like something would have a grinder that's what I'm saying I think someone's made that there's
18:22also people that are serious about tether cars that will actually make their own tether car they'll cast a
18:28body or they'll make it out of wood there's actually some of those types of cars in this collection
18:33um how do you want to do this you want to just do like one number yeah one number so
18:38the retail
18:39number on these six cars right here in the condition that they're in I think is 8500 to nine okay
18:48retail
18:49yeah these two are the brunt of it this hill climber comet and this car right here those are like
18:5524 a
18:56piece okay we never see collections this large for sale and here we are we have an opportunity to
19:02buy some really rare tether cars this one here if we put this in yeah you know seven thousand dollars
19:08for these cars now you threw that one in the end then yeah missing the motor it's not a big
19:14deal but
19:14I'm interested in some of this other stuff I mean like you got the Cox gas-powered tether car I
19:19grew up
19:19with that stuff Cox has been around since the mid 1940s but they really hit their stride in the 1950s
19:25and 60s I mean basically they made anything for a kid that was extremely dangerous if it's like hey
19:30here's fuel here's spark you know get this thing fired up and let's just see where it goes I mean
19:36this piece is really cool that's a Corvette stingray I remember those things yeah look at this thing you
19:41know this is retail 400 bucks I mean it's all there like right off the hobby store shelf yeah so
19:46you
19:46know I do 250 on this you know on something like that so seven 250 yeah yeah well if we're
19:53gonna do
19:53that then you've got the vans look at these the spider they're brand new in the box fast ones I
20:02remember older kids in our neighborhood that had this thing I mean we couldn't afford these kind of
20:05toys when I was a kid it's only new once I do another 300 for these so that's 300 and
20:14250 that's 550
20:16and then keep these in for five okay I've had one of these before and what you did what you
20:23pumped it up the motor in the front wheel it's missing that and this one here interests me but I
20:28don't know enough about it too yeah it looks something hooky about it I mean it's like they
20:32ground it down or something nothing weird about that one I see you got a box on the shelf see
20:37the
20:37tornado racer that's for this that box is for this car which makes it a little bit cooler that's the
20:42tornado racer from wood that's incorporated it definitely adds value which is cool oh hell yeah
20:48so then we're at 8,000 what 50 8,050 with the box
20:56okay let's do it do it yeah thanks buddy I think you're giving me a fair number at 8,050
21:01so take it
21:02thank you so much brilliant man I tell you what it's getting harder to find any tethered car
21:07this was a lot of leg work that he did to accumulate this stuff over his lifetime it's
21:13brilliant Wally is not a collector and with the loss of his brother I can see how he's feeling
21:18overwhelmed but hopefully today helped him take the temperature of what the value of a lot of this
21:24stuff is his brother was such a large collector that when all this stuff hits the market again
21:30it's going to make so many people happy Wally wore us out yeah man it's a lot of work day
21:37today
21:38thank you so much you're welcome thank you man it was a real pleasure thank you dealing with the guys
21:43was a very very good experience and I felt that they were fair and polite it kind of lit a
21:49fire for
21:49me to start moving to some stuff and let it go so I thought it was great hello everybody
22:11hey guys how are you doing this morning what you got girl I am sending you guys to a drive

22:30previous owner though was a big car collector on the same property he had his own private car museum
22:35that's great that's really yeah and on top of that there's like 50 years of drive-in stuff
22:41no way that sounds awesome basically everything they sell is going to go back into the drive-in
22:45cool you guys have fun I'll let them know you're on your way and talk to you soon all right

23:15gosh
23:16drive-in movie theaters have been around since the mid 1930s but it was really after World War II that
23:21they expanded across America's landscape people were building homes buying cars think about it
23:27drive-in movie theaters were the connective tissue to so much that was uniquely American whether it was car
23:34culture music fashion or the decades of American films that were shown there anything from James Dean
23:42to Jaws hey he's on the sign oh he's changing the marquee that's cool hey you Seth yeah what's

25:02nice to
25:04meet you your fire look at this stuff on here right there all right posters drive-in drive-in movie
25:09theater so you got to be excited the cast of grease is coming yeah we saw that it's gonna be
25:13so fun hey
25:15buddy fun if you've never been you just have to experience it there's nothing like a drive-in
25:18theater on a Friday night or Saturday night four o'clock cars start rolling in here they start
25:23packing the front and second row we can hold about 350 cars comfortably there's been about 400
25:28here at once no kidding yeah dude you look out and there kids playing frisbee just having a good time
25:34and it's something you can't do at an indoor theater it's more than just a movie to see a
25:39movie with the stars right above you that's the driving experience there's nothing more nostalgic
25:44than this right I mean as soon as I pull in and I'm looking at that I'm like oh my
25:48gosh yeah you
25:49plant your feet on the ground in one of these properties and you're just transformed man
25:54congratulations man you pulled this off it's great we actually came here on dates and such and never
26:00thought we would own the place is that your ride yeah I'm a car guy so naturally you know when
26:04this
26:04came up for sale a chance to save a bit of American history at one time there were 4600 drive
26:09-ins
26:09or so in the country and now there's less than 300 so we're just really excited to be part of
26:14this new
26:14generation of ownership can we look at your car yeah let's take a look all right well y'all boys
26:19have fun I'm gonna go get things ready okay hey nice to meet you to meet you Tabitha bye so
26:25dude what
26:25were you doing before this I saw real estate the last 12 years okay I acquired quite a bit of
26:30real
26:30estate over the years and we had to sell a lot of that stuff to buy this place it kind
26:34of put all
26:35our eggs in one basket so what does your family think of that oh I think everybody thought we
26:38were crazy Seth is all in man I mean the guys made some big moves but this is his biggest
26:45move
26:45ever Jersey check this thing I know it's beautiful who did this body I bought the car just like it
26:50sits from a gentleman up in Indiana it's got a great stance yeah it's it's a nice car it's a
26:54351
26:54Cleveland in there 351 Cleveland I drive it about two three times a week Seth he tries a hot rod
26:59I
27:00mean he's in the culture we open at 11 for lunch we're really known for our burgers here there's not
27:04another burger like it around and about four o'clock our box office opens and people start
27:09rolling in for the movie and the movie doesn't start till about 9 9 30 in the summer because
27:12we have to have full dark we did the 1978 Halloween last year I was just gonna ask you
27:18did horror movies yeah is this crazy here for Halloween oh yeah Seth is shaking it up the guy's
27:24full of great ideas he's young he's energetic he's doing horror movies and he has found a way to be
27:30busy when he's not even showing a movie the best burger in town brilliant thanks for saving this
27:36place yeah let me show you why I called you guys the drive-in was built in 1953 when we
27:41bought the
27:41theater we acquired all kinds of things that were left behind by the previous owner they had a car
27:45museum they collected auto parts cars and cinema related stuff that's been here for years this
27:51building here is more like a workshop there's some car parts in here oh yeah
28:09yeah the space was the hardware store workshop it was used for storage it's been here since the 50s
28:16so there's different layers of things there's camera parts automotive there's a lot of tools and I want
28:22to go high on these shelves you know I want to get up in an area where the stuff's been
28:25on the shelf the
28:26longest to where you know you can't just look at it from eyesight and grab it I love spaces like
28:32this
28:32because you never know what you're gonna find this is all wiring harnesses that say they're 37 Ford
28:38got a bunch of them like brand new old stock Wired Joe these are new old stock wiring harnesses they've
28:45been sitting on these shelves forever they're in the original box we use them on motorcycles I've used
28:49old wiring harnesses I mean I had a nice original knuckles and stuff I'd want to use that yeah for
28:54sure
28:54and there's a bunch of them if I bought them all you can give me a hundred dollars on all
28:59of them
29:02I'll give you 150 bucks for all of them let's do that yeah that's cool to me for a collector
29:07to
29:08just have something like this on display if they're building out an old garage setting for whatever time
29:13period their car is from you know this adds to it what else you got to show us I've never
29:17been back in
29:18that corner whoa there's a ton of stuff as soon as Seth said he had never been back in that
29:23corner
29:24that's where I got to go all right baby you got to go where the least traffic has been and
29:29I'm
29:29talking human traffic I mean I'm sure there's raccoons or snakes possums fleas whatever there
29:35is I don't care there's something back here I'll make a few bucks on I'm going for it what's this
29:41say on it this says hot popcorn would you sell that yeah I'll sell it this is hand painted somebody
29:48made it it'd look cool in somebody's home theater or something what do you want 25 bucks
29:53you give me 35 that sounds funny this folky hot popcorn sign there's a few bucks left on it here's
30:01speaker boxes these things I'm familiar with the first thing you do when you get into the drive-in
30:05movie theater is you put the speaker box in your car window so you can hear the movie it's stamped
30:10in
30:10there Calvert yeah this one was a Calvert driving theater and there's a different style altogether too
30:14yeah the nostalgia of a drive-in movie theater starts with the speaker box and that's what
30:19everybody identifies with so I found this at first I thought it was a speaker but it's not a speaker
30:23it would go on the speaker pole and it's actually a heater you can see the electric coil in there
30:28so
30:28yeah in the winter you watch a movie and you put this in your car on your window and it
30:32is a little
30:33heater keep you warm because you've got to turn your car off for the movie that means you don't have
30:37access to heat let's look at number 32 yeah so it would go on pole 32 out there that you
30:41could
30:41probably rent it and take it to your pole that you're in and plug it in so you could like
30:45get
30:45that go at the concession stand hey I want a heater me and my honey are getting cold yeah that's
30:49pretty
30:49cool the speaker box yeah that comes with the movie but not the heater box they're selling you a little
30:54heat could be no 75 cents we got several of these probably about 15 or 20 of them I've seen
30:58these I buy
30:59these every once in a while I mean I've never seen the heaters before 75 bucks on it you don't
31:05find
31:05them very often all right I'll do that now how about this what about one of these 25 bucks on
31:11it
31:1125 and one of these yeah you can sell that all day for 50 to 60 bucks all right that's
31:15cool so 100
31:16bucks for the for the both yeah all right I do it we're gonna do it thank you man we're
31:20on it okay
31:20I love it
31:281953 the theater opened and this building was built in 1965.
31:32okay yeah previous owner they had a park museum it was lined with cars before the movie back in the
31:39day you could go down there and look at some cars and stuff wow where all the cars go I
31:43mean they're
31:44they sold them or we walk in this auto museum and there's no autos they split the cars up between
31:49the children this place was lined there were cars and autos just lined up in here obviously this is
31:55the ghost of the auto museum most of it's just leftover stuff and storage yeah if you own a drive
32:00-in
32:00movie theater the only way for you to make money is after the sun goes down so you really have
32:05to
32:05think outside of the box I mean the previous owner did a great job with that he had the auto
32:10museum and
32:11Seth is staying open for lunch during the day and basically running a diner so I've got some
32:17advertisements to fold-out stuff this one be careful with it I think it's it's four pieces but it kind
32:23of
32:23came apart on me leave the children home oh wow this is cool the conqueror worm that's Edgar Allan Poe
32:30yep
32:31Edgar Allan Poe no way this is nuts I was wondering if you had any horror stuff because horror stuff's
32:36hot this is like a lobby yeah yeah like a stand-up this is the last thing I would expect
32:40to see here
32:41because this was the kind of stuff that was shipped to traditional movie theaters brick-and-mortar spaces not
32:46in driving that's why I'm surprised that you guys have stuff like this the only place you could display it
32:51would be in the concession stand well actually the family that owned this drive-in they actually own
32:54multiple theaters and they owned an indoor theater up here in Cowboy City oh so that's why this stuff
32:59is in here it had more space at the indoor theater and I think a lot of that came over
33:02here is this
33:03something you're gonna sell yeah when I found those pieces I did some research on the value of
33:07them it's something you'd put up in the lobby so I knew they had to be worth something it's in
33:11incredible shape I mean obviously this is separated but I mean that's an easy fix over the years we've bought
33:16a lot of movie posters and some have increased and some haven't I mean monster stuff horror stuff's
33:22always good I haven't seen this particular piece this is not typical movie posters you know cardboard
33:28backed I really think I can get like two three hundred dollars for this so if it's two three hundred
33:32dollars retail what do you need for it at least a hundred and a quarter like 125 let's do that
33:39shake
33:39his hand yes do that one that's good yeah very cool thank you I've not seen all these movies but
33:44I'm
33:44familiar with some of them the cool thing about movie posters even if the movie's not that great
33:48the movie poster could be fantastic the horrible Dr. Hitchcock but he's got her tied up and yeah
33:54freaking syringe in his hand dang man this is dark I think something like this retails probably 50 bucks
34:00I know guys that would probably want this if you guys don't then that's where it should go yeah
34:03there's different ones wow look at this this one's really cool this is the one you're like
34:09I have this poster but this is the lobby card yeah this is like wow hills angels on wheels so
34:17back in the 60s they were doing so many beat chopper movies and stuff just crazy stuff incredible titles
34:23and easy rider started it all they made a lot of movies about motorcycle culture this is a perfect
34:27example of that but the most iconic movie of them all is easy rider no one saw that coming the
34:33commercial
34:33success of that Jack Nicholson of course yeah he did a lot of motorcycle movies man the premise of
34:39the movie is Jack Nicholson is a gas station attendant that's allowed to join the motorcycle gang like I
34:45have one that's uh we're wolves on wheels I think a lot of this stuff it was made for the
34:51drive-in yeah
34:52and people were snapping it up a lot of these 1960s chopper movies were sold on the shock value of
34:58their
34:58title and the graphics on the poster I mean at that time people were fascinated by American chopper
35:05culture it's fantasy it's escapism brawls beer biker chicks all of these dudes that haven't bathed in
35:12six months riding their choppers across the desert and they're interesting for motorcycle guys to watch
35:18because you know this is back when guys were customizing their bikes and you can see all these
35:22authentic builds they're riding listen we're both motorcycle guys yeah this connects to us this
35:281967 Hells Angels on Wheels also had president of the Hells Angels at the time Sonny Barger not only
35:36is he shown in the movie for a brief second he was also accredited as a consultant for the film
35:42do you
35:43have any plans for this one I mean right now I really don't I mean to me the retail number
35:48on this is
35:49probably five to eight five to eight hundred bucks would you 400 bucks on it yeah I do 400 yeah
35:57cool yeah all right good thank you buddy yeah we're awesome absolutely that's cool okay we got to be
36:01extra careful with this one yeah I love it
36:12there's a check the sign man so this was in here they left this from the car museum yeah they
36:17left
36:17it in here I believe it I believe it came from a uh yeah I can't believe they would leave
36:21this in
36:22here a dealership up in Smithland Kentucky yeah it's a real deal one-sided yeah it's a real deal
36:27the only reason I'm looking at that because they they actually reproduce this sign pops on it yeah
36:30it's got some whammies in it nice sign I believe he passed away in 2004 or so and that's when
36:35all the
36:35cars were removed okay so this was just one maybe the guy didn't have a pair of wire cutters and
36:40he's
36:40like yeah yeah maybe so a couple hundred bucks but the next guy have it yeah but back then that
36:43was
36:44always worth yeah the values of signs over the last 20 years have changed dramatically a sign like
36:49this back in the day let's say you know 1960s and 70s 50 bucks something like that you know maybe
36:56that's why it's still here so have you done any research on this sign yeah a little bit this is
37:00a
37:01great sign because of the subject matter not just Ford but cars trucks tractors Lincoln and Ford yeah
37:06and I'm a Ford guy myself I've got the 32 the van it just seems like everything so what did
37:12you
37:12research on this I'll tell you what I think oh anywhere from between five and ten yeah yeah even
37:17in this condition with the three big whammies in the center it's still 7500 bucks retail probably I
37:23really got some projects around here I need to do so I mean I could probably let go of that
37:27one what
37:28would you sell it for where do you feel comfortable I'm kind of attached to it a little bit but
37:32I want
37:33to see it get a good home I know you guys kind of make a little money too if you
37:36got the money for
37:37this what would you spend it on probably go towards a new laser projector we're trying to upgrade the laser
37:41how much is that that's got a hundred thousand dollars hundred thousand dollars oh my gosh dude
37:47we've got upgrades we need to make maybe we can sell some of this stuff to make those things happen
37:52because it's just sitting here doing nothing so how would that change things for you as far as
37:56better quality brighter image I could use a lot less energy so it's a good investment for you for
38:01the future yeah we have good quality now but a laser is the way to go technology continues to
38:05change dramatically in shorter amounts of time and he's thinking in generations not just in the
38:11moment he's in this for the long run what are you thinking on this 5500 I'll tell you what we'll
38:25do six
38:26if it's going to if it's going to it works for me to the business buddy thank you because I
38:31can
38:31still make decent money on it and it goes to what you're doing you know I think it's great I
38:36can't
38:36believe this was still hanging in here when you bought it that sign was a little tough for me to
38:40get rid of because I do like forge myself but if I didn't sell it I think my wife would
38:45have probably
38:45wring my neck what is going on with this thing yeah this is one of the projectors it was up
38:52here at
38:52one time it's a simplex this is probably late 40s there's a lot of it missing there would have
38:57been a lamp house right here it was in this drive-in but before it was in this drive-in
39:00it was in
39:01another drive-in the starlight you would have had two projectors in the projector room because you
39:05switch back from one reel to the other so you'd start real oh so there's no interruption yeah it
39:09was still in use 12 years ago wow hey man so can you still that's crazy think about that that's
39:16part
39:16of why the drive-ins are going away because the family that owned this drive-in fortunately they
39:20were able to upgrade to digital yeah but not everybody was because the cost was so oh my
39:24gosh how much was it back then for them to upgrade about 120 thousand dollars really yeah Seth was
39:29really lucky right before he bought the drive-in the previous owner had made a major investment
39:35in upgrading the system it's a big expense and a lot of theaters didn't make it they just closed up
39:40a lot of people look at a drive-in movie theater and they think okay this is a field it's
39:44got a screen
39:45yeah there's a projector but technology moves so fast and to stay current it takes a lot of money
39:51what was the golden era for the drive-in 50s 60s was it but we're finding a lot more people
39:57are coming
39:57to the drive-in because they see it's something they've never done before and they're so glad it's
40:01still here yeah they appreciate what could be gone so quickly yeah or the people that were there like
40:06guys like us right you know bringing our kids bring it back nostalgic I think even with streaming
40:11services people are always going to come to the drive-in theater he's an incredible guy that is
40:15a sponge in an industry that needs young people involved we actually thought about using up here
40:22somehow if we can put it in our concession line as that would be cool and maybe rig up a
40:27projector
40:28to like project our logo or something on the wall yeah I'd love to see that happen look at this
40:32Jersey
40:32this is a rewind table when you were all done you had to rewind all the film and that's what
40:37this
40:37table is and here's oh here's the film storage so that yeah you'd put that's cool man yeah so
40:42here's where the films are stored that's sick man that is cool you can set up an empty reel on
40:46one
40:46side full reel on the other rewind it back that was used every day here at one time getting all
40:51those reels put back together to send back to the studio you can repurpose this absolutely yeah it's got
40:56the look you could use it in your living room to put coffee on I could use it in my
41:00shop to put my
41:00grinders on it's got drawers it's unique looking it's heavy duty it's commercial make me an offer on it
41:06let's just sit in here I'm thinking 300 bucks I mean you got the reels you know it's got the
41:10winders it's cool it's got appeal yeah I can do 300 yeah thank you all right very cool done I
41:16love
41:16it Jersey now hey dude maybe we could start our own driving or something yeah Seth is a smart guy
41:22he knows his business inside and out he's very knowledgeable on the smallest thing to the biggest
41:29thing when it comes to the drive-in movie business hey thank you that makes him and his wife
41:34the perfect people to be the caretakers of this place to take this thing to the next level for
41:40generations to come we did it thanks for putting up with us absolutely I'm excited I'm gonna come
41:46back here pleasure we're really excited about the next few years for the theater we got some big plans
41:51and there's nothing like seeing the stars under the stars see you guys bye
