00:17challenge
00:17then challenge I'm up for a challenge always what do you got for us okay I want to preface this
00:22by
00:22saying that the largest catalyst for growth is being outside of your comfort zone okay I'm not
00:28doing that again Danny no fluff pop up things right what you're talking about Robbie listen
00:34fan dancing has no gender fan dancing knows no boundaries fan dancing is for everyone especially
00:40you Robbie you are a natural we're not doing that today okay no no no no no fan dancing today
00:45what
00:45do you got all right I'm gonna send you guys on a pop culture pick 60s 70s maybe a little
00:50bit into
00:51the 80s oh my time period exactly that's the fun of it it's nostalgia what kind of stuff are you
00:57talking about now Brent is a collector himself but he also inherited his cousin's house and he's got
01:03his cousins and his brother's collection in there so you're gonna have three different family
01:07collections under one roof really all right hit us with the address you guys have fun I'll see you soon
01:13all right talk to you soon
01:24right here he's got the garage door open already check him out there's the car man get a flyer hey
01:30Brent
01:31how you doing buddy I'm Mike nice to meet you that's my brother Robbie you're doing I collect
01:37vintage 1960s Beatles memorabilia because of my brother he got me interested in them before they
01:45even came to America I see a fastback Mustangs yeah that's my car the first car the first car you
01:51ever
01:51bought it is it's got the look February of 1971 I worked all summer to earn money for a car
01:57because I
01:57didn't have a car and I was getting ready to be a senior and no car and all my friends
02:01had cars how
02:02much was this four hundred and seventy-five dollars but I've only saved four hundred my mom said that
02:07if I'd never smoked you know that she knew of she would kick in there the seventy-five dollars 1965
02:14Ford
02:15Mustang releases the first fastback in America the car looks like it's going fast standing still so
02:22what's the plan with this thing well it's got a lot of sentiment I'm sure yeah first date in the
02:27car
02:28married my wife and we had our honeymoon in the car but you know did you have like the just
02:33married
02:34on the car yes you did and the streamers and everything oh yeah it's gonna be hard to part
02:38with I'm sure yeah I listened to any offers when it's in the garage and not getting any use and
02:44it's
02:44covered up with boxes and I kept thinking if Mike and Robbie can give me a good deal I might
02:49just sell
02:50it it looks like a big Hot Wheel car when we first got there I thought Brent was gonna sell
02:54us the car
02:54but after we got it outside I could see the sparkle in his eye dude it's cool it's got the
02:59look even
03:00though the grabber blue paint job is faded when I saw those wheels and those white leather tires
03:05and the fact that I put that extra leaf spring in the back and jacked it up a little bit
03:09now I can't
03:11I can't get rid of it trust me I get that when we pulled it out of the garage I
03:14was like he ain't
03:15selling this car the guy owned this car since he was 16 years old the car needs to stay with
03:21Brent
03:21there's a lot of other stuff we can look at all right a lot of record albums in here oh
03:25yeah I
03:25see that now I'm a vinyl man I love records all that on the right hand side country on the
03:31left
03:31side is all pop and rock the hip-hop albums over there wow it's an alphabetical order you did that
03:36I'm OCD and yeah I have to do it really yeah that's awesome man it makes me so happy to
03:42know I can go
03:43right to a box and pull out slide in the family stone where's the 70s and 80s rock right there
03:48to your
03:48right the great thing about albums is they're visually stimulating the artwork the photographs
03:54so here's some cross-pollination you got sly and the family stone Santana and then you've got country
03:59gotta think foreigner put out that many albums holy cow Brent is a record collector if he owns anything
04:05that's incredibly rare that's in super good condition it wouldn't be in this garage you know
04:11he would covet it there's still some gems in here I'm sure now I've got some that are sealed but
04:16I've got
04:16some that you probably wouldn't even want to put on a turntable it's a mixed bag these albums have
04:20been in this garage for a very long time and with the temperature change and the boxes around them
04:25that are kind of giving way so some of these look like they've gotten wet and a lot of them
04:29they're
04:30not even in a sleeve what would this be worth if it wasn't trashed oh gosh probably 100 bucks no
04:36kidding at the end of the day if somebody can't play the record then if they're taking the cover and
04:40plastering on a wall the first record I ever bought was she loves you because my brother Robert didn't
04:46have any money and I just happened to have a dollar he started buying all the other records because
04:51eventually he was making money was he older than you yeah eight years old okay and all I could afford
04:56you know with my salary which was picking up pop bottles yeah 10 cents you know here and there all
05:03I
05:03could do was buy the bubblegum cards between him and Ricky buying all these records and getting me
05:07interested in it and then as an adult continuing that because my brother Robert was my hero he
05:14protected me on the bus you know I was in the second grade and he was in the 10th when
05:18we rode the bus
05:19together and anybody messed with me by golly they had to deal with Russ he was my protector my friend
05:25he passed away in 2019 and Ricky my cousin the year before oh so I'm the only one that's left
05:34okay so
05:35now when they both passed did you get both of their collection yeah okay and was it mainly vinyl
05:41yeah and eight tracks okay these are his records his cousin's records his brother's records there's a
05:48huge sentimental attachment to all of this here's a whole box of Dylan this is all Dylan Dylan Dylan Dylan
05:59Dylan Dylan oh my gosh look at all these these are all the same the reason I got all of
06:04those is for
06:04the poster okay a psychedelic poster in the Bob Dylan greatest hits album Bob Dylan's greatest hits album
06:10in it a lot of people don't realize is a psychedelic painting of him just very cool and it's much
06:16more
06:17valuable than the record so anytime I would find that album I would look in there see if it had
06:22a poster and
06:23then when I got it home take the poster out put the Dylan in the box and there it would
06:28stay but the
06:29poster I would keep there's still in there many of those oh you took them all out I already got
06:33them
06:33out I'm looking for the same exact thing to Brent was that poster and obviously he found them all first
06:39all right so how much for all the Dylan 100 bucks for the whole thing all right I'm doing it
06:45I'm doing
06:45it I'm in the Bob Dylan business everything in here is from his childhood his cousin's childhood
06:52his brother's childhood what's going on with this thing the aura the vibe the energy whatever you
06:58want to call it is like vacuum sealed in this space 15 bucks you got it all right and Brent
07:05is
07:06like father time oh yeah some cassettes too man all this stuff's hot now the next generation coming up
07:12new dealers they're not called antique shops anymore they're called vintage shops people are buying
07:16cassettes again the stuff that they're looking for is stuff that I had when I was a kid eight tracks
07:21cassettes all this vintage clothing these really cool t-shirts from 1990 1980s you know I'm like
07:28wow man I still have that that's worth 200 bucks looks like there's like 20 of them here how about
07:34a buck a piece okay all right 20 bucks 20 bucks very cool so you know I used to walk
07:39past eight tracks
07:40cassettes some vintage clothing never again all this stuff is boiling to the top in these vintage shops
07:47here's the eight tracks look at that oh that's my cousin oh really these are all his yeah opening
07:54Ricky's eight track box is really getting a peek into kind of who he was as a person five-man
08:00electrical
08:00band had strange taste oh look at that iron butterfly live getting to know somebody through music is a
08:08really really cool vibe this has his name on it why you want to sell this because I've never liked
08:14eight tracks eight tracks good night I had one in my car for sure but why I mean what are
08:21you thinking
08:21on this stuff two bucks a piece 44 tapes two bucks a piece 88 bucks we'll do it okay I'll
08:27do it all
08:28why don't we go inside I got some stuff in there you might like okay cool what year the house
08:32built
08:331949 oh nice well this is cool man this was your cousin's house yep when I inherited Ricky's house
08:40it was a mess and it took me forever just to get it to where I could function in it
08:47and try to organize
08:48things this green ghost game over here I remember that when I was a kid man I think I had
08:54older friends
08:55of mine's brothers that had this game when we were kids we had toys that could hurt you physically and
09:01mentally they could either scare the hell out of you or they could burn you like creepy crawlers
09:06where you're pouring hot rubber liquid into a mold or an easy bake oven there were things called jarts
09:11where we would actually throw metal missiles at each other basically it was like horseshoes but with a
09:17spear we were entertained in a completely different and dangerous way what year is this about 65 I'd say
09:2466 maybe when I was in the sixth grade I begged and begged for that green ghost game they had
09:30it
09:30advertised on TV and it glowed in the dark gosh you could play it in the dark who wouldn't want
09:35that
09:36here's the green ghost and instead I got a little slot car racers and some chocolate-covered cherries and
09:44stuff like that so I took all my Christmas card money and went to Woolworths and bought that green ghost
09:50game
09:51and boy was I in trouble when I got home so this is all the other game pieces in there
09:56you got the cat you
09:57got the rat you got the vulture you got the trees castle say everything's here I'm taking a little
10:03bit of a chance on this because I'm not going through every single piece I mean the core is there
10:09the major bones to it is there and I'm hoping the rest of it is with the box and the
10:13condition it's in
10:15175 bucks you got it that was easy got it all right let's do that thanks man very cool
10:27is this related to your family it is okay 30s and 40s oh wow this is what a great piece
10:33to have
10:34for you guys yeah there's my mom right there oh my gosh really Brent's passion his cousin's passion
10:39his brother's passion all of that is what filled up this house Darth Vader headset he didn't plan for
10:46this to happen that's not what collecting is all about it's about inspiration and following your
10:51heart especially when it comes to music and moments from your childhood well here's some
10:57Beatles stuff right here that's the Remco dolls okay 1964 each with the instrument wow I don't think I
11:03even knew music until my brother turned me on to the Beatles the way they could harmonize it was not
11:10like any harmony I'd heard before the way Paul has got a high part to John's lead I was hooked
11:17Ringo
11:17and Paul were the most popular because Paul was the cutest and Ringo was the silliest and then John
11:23you know John's John you know he's yeah George was always the quiet Beatles did everything I could to
11:29talk my mom into letting me have a Beatles haircut which she wouldn't I had to wait till 1970 for
11:36that to
11:36happen and they broke up by then there are certain moments in your life that take you by surprise I'm
11:43talking life-changing flip the switch things that you will never forget one of those pivotal moments
11:50for Brent was when he heard the Beatles for the first time now imagine that happening to millions of
11:56people at the same time that's how big Beatlemania was so these are 1964 1964 Remco was one of the
12:03first
12:03companies that cash in on Beatlemania with their 1964 Beatles dolls each one in a little gray suit
12:11with a mop top haircut oh sorry that's okay it's always John Paul George and Ringo in that oh okay
12:17okay
12:18yeah I'm familiar with Remco but from the monster side of things they made the Wolfman Dracula Creature
12:24from the Black Lagoon there's some wear on the gilding here and the rare one is George okay George is
12:32the
12:32hardest one to find and why is he the hardest one to find because at the time he was the
12:36least popular
12:37oh no kidding be quiet so these weren't something you bought as a set you had to buy them individually
12:41those Remco dolls is about my favorite of the Beatles memorabilia so I've got you know numerous sets of
12:48them do you have any of these in the box yeah not what's it but what's this but what's the
12:53set in
12:53the box go for uh four figures no kidding because of the box yeah yeah so what is it what
12:59do you want
13:00for the set of them the four of them well the whole four of them would probably be about 500
13:04bucks okay
13:05and that's a retail number on them uh that's a conservative that is because well I'm looking at
13:11the guitars all of them have wear to them so does it obviously that matters the main thing is that
13:18their
13:18hair hasn't been cut okay oh people are cutting their hair yes no kidding that's not all that we're
13:23doing to it uh and the straps yeah these aren't okay 400 bucks no can't do it no George by
13:33himself is
13:34worth over 200. huh once he said that the hair had been cut and that George can bring over 200
13:39bucks himself
13:41he had me all right I'll do 475. okay cool certain songs of theirs just remind me of my brother
13:48we had such a
13:50up and down relationship I guess you'd say it started out great when I was very small and then when
13:55he discovered girls that made it tough and we fought a lot but then here come the Beatles and all
14:03of a sudden we
14:04had common ground again and that lasted all the way to when he left for Vietnam and that killed me
14:11I'm going to Vietnam but he made it by the grace of God he made it he came back from
14:18Vietnam right
14:19about the time they broke up we were hoping for a reunion and alas that never happened hey Brent look
14:26at I found over here yeah that's my Star Wars collection part of it check this out the original box
14:32and then in it are all the guys yeah Star Wars was the number one movie in 1977 it took
14:38the whole world by storm
14:40oh no way Yoda Han Solo frozen in carbonite
14:46I'm your father
14:51I was 10 years old when this movie came out oh I was 20 something I took my wife to
14:59see it at the drive-in theater
15:00and I think she went to sleep during it but I loved it I thought this is great I thought
15:05I've
15:05got to go to a real theater and see this and I was hooked on it I've got models and
15:10puzzles and all
15:11kinds of other Star Wars stuff that's for sale that is for sale to the left wow dude you aren't
15:16a kid
15:17in there I missed out on a lot of Beatles stuff at yard sales because I was too young to
15:20go to them
15:21but now here's all the Star Wars stuff I'm gonna get all I can and maybe it'll go up in
15:27value
15:27and it did I mean I've seen some of the auctions in the last five six years some of this
15:32stuff in
15:32the series one that's dead men in the package $20,000 well I've been paying attention to this
15:39market it has skyrocketed but you have to find what they call the Kenner 12 and those guys those
15:45were the original 12 action figures that came out in 1978 those are the ones that everybody is searching
15:52for they're very hard to find especially in the original packaging
16:07so a lot of this stuff up there is probably from the first series there that the R2-D2
16:11yeah the first and second were the greatest and then Return of the Jedi's when it started going
16:16downhill yeah the first one's always the best I think I'd like to pull out a bunch of this stuff
16:21and see if we can make a deal on a pile of this I started collecting toys 40 years ago
16:26and it was
16:26drilled into my head at that time condition condition condition there's an x-wing fighter
16:31right here if it's played with that's a condition six if it's not played with and it's in the original
16:37box in the original packaging you want a condition nine or ten 1983 never been open those are the things
16:45that always always will demand the money I've got R2-D2 the x-wing original wrapper c-3po even this
16:53toy
16:53here I mean I've seen this toy sell as high as 600 bucks but look at the box the R2
17:00-D2 that's a good one
17:01because it's in the box it's a radio controlled we've got the warranty paperwork you've got the
17:09original instructions let's see condition wise let's see see how the yellowing happened to the
17:15body on this all the big collectors they don't want any yet see the damage up here here oh there
17:21you go so the battery box yeah doesn't look like it actually was ever played with too much except for
17:27the yellowing on this yeah the condition of it's not the best it's not new old stock in this shape
17:32it's probably worth a hundred if it was in perfect shape you know six seven hundred wow big difference
17:38sure is for these five pieces honestly because these are just models I'd want to be at like two
17:45hundred dollars on all of them I mean that's leaving me a little bit I think on the back side
17:50well I could I could see the hundred for that but uh you know then the other hundred I don't
17:55I
17:55don't think I'd want to let loose of them okay all right these are selling anywhere from 20 to 30
18:00dollars yeah I can go 100 on that R2-D2 but some of those models were sealed and they were
18:06from the
18:0770s and early 80s I thought I'll just hang on to those I could do the 100 on that but
18:12uh you want to
18:13keep the rest all right all right on the other sets though you that you still have here like this
18:19right here would you just sell these two sets right here yeah there's some doubles in here right
18:25right I would be a player on both sets some of these have been played with pretty hard right
18:30uh 350.
18:37the original 12 a few of those are in this case so that makes my time worthwhile to buy this
18:43whole case you got it that work all right you got it all right I appreciate that thank you Brent
18:48yes Mike hey Roseville pottery man Roseville pottery was based in Ohio and started around
18:54the late 1800s look at the bottom of it you can see what says Roseville this is actually part of
18:59a
18:59set but there's no cracks or chips in it or anything that was my aunt's Edith this is the kind
19:04of stuff I
19:05was looking for 30 years ago in old farmhouses on gravel roads or in flea markets in Iowa I knew
19:12what it was because I had mentors that were older dealers that were looking for it the people that are
19:17collecting this are aging out but to me it's art pottery and so it's timeless I've always loved the
19:23colors the designs I'll continue to buy it anytime I see it I'll give you 20 bucks it's worth 35
19:29sure
19:30okay okay let's do that all right very cool if you start out in this business with mentors then you're
19:35one of the lucky ones a pick of this magnitude with this much stuff can be intimidating even to
19:46someone that's done this for as long as I have because you want to see everything and if you feel
19:52like you don't then you drive yourself crazy oh here's opry look at that so you first have your
19:57primary search you're looking at all the big stuff everything that you can physically see right in front of
20:02you 60 bucks you got it I love it absolutely love it then you go back through and you do
20:08the
20:08secondary search where you're opening drawers you're getting under cabinets and you're just getting a
20:13little bit more detailed that's cool but I honestly believe if you dig enough if you look hard enough
20:18it's like if you're putting that energy out there it's gonna bounce back man hey Brent yo where you at
20:25I'm right here dude have you seen this before is that a Halloween thing no no this is a marks
20:29it's called
20:30the spooky kooky tree okay and I used to see these at the Chicago toy show man but the first
20:36time I
20:36ever saw this toy was at the Chicago coin op show and I was blown away by what they were
20:41asking for it
20:41it was around a couple thousand dollars years ago but it was pristine mint the box was mint when I
20:48see
20:48something that's that unusual and price that high I remember it this is the rare version of it this has
20:54mushrooms on it okay see the mushrooms on it 1960s psychedelic spooky tree of course it has mushrooms
21:01on it it's spooky but it's also a little trippy imagine the mind of the person that created this
21:08toy it's almost kind of HR puffin stuff you know what I mean yes but this is way before that
21:13yeah you
21:14know it's just so cool if the tree from Wizard of Oz and Groot had a baby it would be
21:19this tree
21:20the box isn't that great but man the toy is in nice shape when these things work they actually
21:25spin around on the ground and they whistle oh great okay yeah I'd say it's close to mint there's some
21:31scratches and stuff in it you know like there's some scuffing but other than that it looks like it's
21:36in pretty good condition it's all there where'd you find this at did you find it at a garage sale
21:40or something how'd you find this I do believe I just found it on the side of the road really
21:44oh
21:45one of those big garbage days bulk pickup oh my gosh somebody just threw it away God bless the
21:49bulk pickup day I remember those when I was a kid I found bicycles I found stickers I found monster
21:55models those were my favorite days too yeah when the city allows you to throw anything out exactly
22:00the big piles I know the bulk pickup day is a treasure trove for anyone that wants to get a
22:08little
22:08dirty you know that's probably why the box is like it is because it's on the side of the road
22:12look at that box man the box means a lot yeah I mean even in this condition the box
22:17is still valuable I mean they're all over the place anywhere from 850 to 2500 depending on
22:25the condition of the box and the condition of the toy I mean this one's this one's been played with
22:30and you can see some scuffing on the face and the lip and stuff and I'm not trying to you
22:36know knock
22:36it down too much but I mean toy collectors like mint is mint unplayed with is unplayed with there's
22:43such a rare toy with the condition of the box and the condition of the toy I do $800 that's
22:51awesome
22:53well you do that I will do that that is awesome okay we first got to this property and Brent
22:58told
22:58me he was the last man standing it was a very somber moment but as we walked through it and
23:03I saw his
23:03excitement for each piece whether it was his or his brothers or his cousins he's romantic at heart
23:09I'm set on the eight track tapes for a while he loves all of these things not just for what
23:14they
23:14are and his memories as a child but he loves them because it's always been around him I love that
23:21you're still finding peace with all this stuff yeah trying to that's a good place to be yeah thank you
23:25my friend thank you God bless you God bless you buddy so to me the last man standing is a
23:31celebration
23:32it's a celebration that hey I am still here I still love this stuff I'm telling these stories and when
23:39I tell these stories everything comes to life sweet picket
23:56so where were you this morning I woke up I order your breakfast sandwich and then I go outside the
24:01van's gone you're gone I went out I had breakfast with a buddy you didn't have breakfast with a buddy
24:05you smell like a freaking oil stain dude I went to a guy's place down here that I knew I
24:10figured
24:10you didn't want to go what are you talking about a guy's place for what I went on a pre
24:14-pick you went
24:16and picked a guy before you get in the van and pick with me yes what's wrong with that talking
24:21about
24:22who are these people though why aren't I picking them well I figured you didn't want to go
24:27you were still sleeping who's paying for the gas you did I don't want to talk about this ever again
24:33well then you're really not going to want to know about the post pics
24:42Danny D what's up hey what do you got what kind of lead you got oh hey you guys are
24:47ready huh
24:47I'm gonna send you to a guy named Brad guy's a hard-working dude he's a mechanic he's got his
24:51own repair shop oh that's cool he still works on cars yeah plus he's been collecting since he was a
24:56child so for 50 years he's just been dragging stuff home oh yeah right up both our alley
25:05dang what was he mainly into petroleum a brewery on uh there was one room in there that was so
25:11full
25:11that all I could see was just the tops of pinball machines really no joke all right sounds cool send
25:18us the coordinates will do guys have fun thanks Danny oh dude I could already see the guy signs from
25:24the mirror oh he's got to be hit up all the time man hey hey you getting my Corvette fixed
25:34yet
25:35are you Brad how you doing man Mike this is my brother Robbie nice to meet you there you go
25:41I like to have fun and it's whoever dies with the most toys wins it's not money necessarily it's just
25:48toys do you have a lot of people bringing stuff in here oh yeah I don't have a sign out
25:53there that
25:53says Brad's Automotive when some people go by they're not 100 sure what we do there and with
25:58all the old cool signs outside they feel welcome enough to stop in and kind of hey what is this
26:03is
26:03any of this stuff for sale I've held off for many years every once in a while let go of
26:07something but
26:07yeah I'm in my 60s and not gonna be running this place forever anytime you have a building or a
26:13business open to the public you're gonna get people coming by trying to buy stuff but you're
26:18also gonna get people coming by trying to sell you stuff because they see all over the walls and
26:23outside what you like what you're collecting you're creating a trading post what's up with this the
26:29greasy dick I think that one used to be neon because oh yeah but that's long gone a lot of
26:34guys will say
26:35that this sign is pronounced grize a deck no it's pronounced greasy dick just like in the Midwest do
26:42you even know about greasy dick and Falstaff yeah never heard of that oh yeah family is that something
26:47you told her about no it's really a bigger I need on that thing Wow it look cool with neon
26:53on it neon
26:54just makes things look that much better and yeah look at this sign it's all beat to hell but add
26:59neon to
27:00it you won't even notice the rest of it so you want to sell this ah possibly it's a st.
27:07Louis brand oh
27:08okay yeah talk to him he's calculating in his mind how much I can see the gears turning yeah he
27:14does
27:14yeah 700 hmm I'm stepping up oh man that greasy dick brothers sign that's a rare one I'll never find
27:25another one I don't believe I will yeah I guess I'd let that go for 700 all right there you
27:31go yeah
27:32it's beat to hell it's got a little wave in it but I'm going to flatten it back out I'm
27:35going to put some
27:36neon on it it's going to look freaking killer when it's done Reesey Dick I guess let's take it down
27:41right
27:42away because if I think about it very long it may just stay up there so I'm blaming man it
27:47becomes part of you
27:48donut oh I just love it how long has that been up there 25 years or so really what my
27:54brother
27:54doesn't know yet is that I actually have the other side of this sign and it's in way better condition
28:00she's free I was actually going to tell him about it earlier but I went on a pre-pick cha
28:06-ching this
28:08country club is pretty cool well it's half a sign it's awesome though yeah it's good it's got the great
28:14graphic on it or something do you think there was maybe a privilege panel on the bottom of that or
28:18no that's what it looks like you only got half the bottle so that's this sign was actually pretty damn
28:23big man this is a tin sign self-embossed it probably had a privilege panel on the bottom that's been
28:29cut
28:29off but there's no flaking this on this this thing will clean up though where'd that come out of Decatur
28:35swap mate the sign says country club but right above that it says Getz Getz was a brewery out of
28:40St. Joe
28:41Missouri that started way before the Civil War being from Iowa and picking there for decades and
28:47Missouri being a neighboring state I pulled a lot of stuff out of Barnes that was related to Getz
28:52brewery this brand was reintroduced after prohibition they actually changed the name that's when they
28:59rolled out country club beer what are you thinking on something like that is that even something you'd turn
29:03loose looks like it's been up there for a while it has well I'm listening hey you called us well
29:09I
29:10called Danielle all right 500 bucks you gotta remember the bottom's cut yep the great thing
29:18about the sign is that it had the bottle on it's got that image on it it's gonna clean up
29:22and it's a
29:23good size the problem with it is that it's not the size it's supposed to be half the bottom is
29:28gone
29:28it's probably worth 800 to a thousand tops yeah 600 bucks I'll do it all right I guess you talked
29:37me into it thank you hell if it stays up here much longer I may just leave it we got
29:41a ladder or
29:42something well you're Robbie oh watch out well we that dad bod all right I like this all of a
29:49sudden
29:49he just shimmied up the purlings there and I was hanging on by his toenails I haven't seen him do
29:54this
29:55since fourth grade oh she's making noises here we go here we go look at that yeah he's doing it
30:03he's doing it spider man this is gonna be interesting oh no my brother might walk like Frankenstein but
30:12the dude's got a little spider monkey in him I was really surprised I'm usually the one doing all the
30:17climbing
30:30shops like this are getting fewer and far between the independent that works on just about anything
30:36whether you bring them a Model T or you bring them an F-150 they can wrench on it this
30:41is Aubrey's best
30:41kept secret right here yeah this is actually a place that he used to live until it was taken over
30:49by his
30:49collection this side used to be my wife's side of the house since she's moved out it's become the
30:55game room ah these are cool we grew up playing pinball machines they were everywhere they were in
31:00bowling alleys they were in rec centers they were in laundromats they were at the mall I just like playing
31:05pinball in general so there wasn't a pinball machine that didn't have a theme behind it there's
31:10people playing pool you can see there's people scuba diving you can see there's drag racing I really
31:15like the baseball game down at the end that Ted Williams that's the one that's the one we're
31:19connected we had one of those at our rec center when we were kids oh my gosh our local pinball
31:26hotspot was the land of Oz it was up at Duck Creek Mall we spent every waking moment there it
31:34was all
31:34about the challenge and everybody who was there we had 10 or 15 guys there we were setting the records
31:40every day and every day you had to go back here to make sure your record wasn't broken the lights
31:44and the sounds it was like a little Vegas for kids I could I could let go of a couple
31:52of them
31:52anyway I can look through these machines and I can pick out the one that I like the most but
31:56that
31:57doesn't mean it's the hottest one that doesn't mean it's the rarest one or the most expensive one
32:02I've got a buddy that's really into pinball nice I mean he's got over 200 machines sweet that work both
32:10my brother and I know enough to be dangerous but we're not entrenched in the market constantly let
32:16you send him these well make sure you see everything oh my god it is awesome dude Brad created the
32:23spot
32:23for everybody to come and hang he's got the pinball machines he's got all the beer bottles on the wall
32:28you drank every one of these too yeah it's like come on over here guys let's get it on tonight
32:33there's
32:33stuff in here I haven't seen 20 years myself literally every inch of the floor the walls the ceiling the
32:39display cases it's full this is where you really got to get your senses right man you got to go
32:45through every little detail because the smallest thing on a space this big could be the most expensive
32:51thing what's that shirt right there that's chain stitched or a jacket I was afraid he's gonna like
32:55what's that say what's that say Muncie Dragway Muncie Dragway get out of here 1963 let me see
33:04that thing it's gone 1963 class champion Muncie Dragway this thing is so cool man put your arm in
33:11there oh yeah oh it even fit you see you're scrawny man that freaking thing wouldn't fit me yeah I
33:17don't
33:18think it'd fit me either that thing's bad to the bone I like the front of it so how to
33:22Muncie drag
33:23coat end up down here because this is I assume this is Muncie Indiana it is they call it mid
33:28-america
33:28dragway well I grew up in Indiana and we're in a little town called Portland is oh yeah I did
33:38not
33:38go to that but they have the tractor show up yeah world-renowned oh my gosh and rushing me yeah
33:45yeah
33:45and I go to that where'd you get this at buddy mine gave it to me he's passed away now
33:49we called him
33:50Fast Eddie and he used to race motorcycles was he the champion yes he was such a cool guy it
33:55was
33:55good to hang with him because he was ornery he's a wild man he was in high school he was
34:00a drag strip
34:00champion imagine how popular this guy was with the ladies look at that dude man fit you like a glove
34:07gosh fit you like a glove what are you thinking man the thing I love about vintage clothing is the
34:15opportunity to tell people's stories this coat is an artifact of fast Eddie's badassery 300 bucks mmm I
34:28understand how like just how personal clothing is you know what I mean mm-hmm and and then when it's
34:35tattooed the way something like this is where it's chain stitched and it's telling the story and then
34:40you're telling me about him I just like takes all of it around home and do a full circle the
34:46only way
34:47to keep his story alive or anybody's for that matter is to continue to talk about them and share their
34:53story and when you have a piece of vintage clothing in that mix as well then the stories told over
34:59and
34:59over again if you're wearing it you know they're like where did you get that coat whose coat was that
35:05what tell me about this drag strip what are you thinking 350 I guess if you'll do that I'll gladly
35:11do it because he was my buddy I'll wear it I'm honored that he would sell me this coat because
35:17it was a
35:17very close friend to his and he meant a lot to him it was a really cool moment between us
35:22and you're
35:23lucky it doesn't fit me or you wouldn't be there hello hey man did you get those photos I sent
35:34you
35:34I met Ryan Adams in Nashville about 10 years ago and one of the first things that he told me
35:40was
35:41about his pinball collection how big it was how long he's been collecting and the guy is not just a
35:46musical genius he is a pinball savant he truly knows his stuff when it comes to these games scuba
35:56bank ball and nitro ground shaker are little pieces of gold here these are electromechanical
36:04games and em games are different than solid state games so if you were to look underneath the play
36:10field every single thing inside of the game runs on its own single circuit which is super cool
36:17nitro ground shaker is a drag racing game there were 7950 of them made which means it is not rare
36:25okay but it has a 7.8 rating Ryan's mind works so fast he's given us way more information than
36:33we
36:33can even digest scuba is from 1970 here we're gonna see if it works right now oh it's working dude
36:38it's
36:39lit up oh my gosh Ryan it's sick man the bank of ball gottlieb made one in 1950 and then
36:48they made
36:48another one in 1965 this is the 65 I think so yeah nitro ground shaker is from 1980 this is
36:57a good thing
36:58to know this is an early solid state so this isn't the em version which means that's a lot better
37:04I need you to do me a favor and look at the flippers themselves and do they say the word
37:09flipper yes yep they say flipper on them sometimes people will pay hundreds of dollars just for those
37:14flippers the smallest detail can mean so much like the flipper saying flipper who knew I now I do now
37:23everybody does bank a ball was the first pinball machine produced with flipper return lanes that allow
37:29the ball to roll behind the slingshot and towards a waiting flipper first one ever modern pinball
37:36could not exist without the invention of in lanes that really improved the game because it was just
37:42by chance before that that you'd get a shot with a flipper but you get to anticipate its arrival and
37:47aim your shot and it would increase your skill level and that just made the game a lot more fun
37:52and I didn't realize that bank ball was the first one to do that this is right after they were
37:56breaking
37:57these things up because people were betting on them but see once yeah once flippers were added
38:02to pinball machines and then especially here with an in lane yeah it became a sport it's gone from a
38:08cool pinball that's a piece of history I'm starting to understand what it's like listening to me talk
38:13about motorcycles it's a lot oh it's lit dude it just got lit up
38:22oh look at that I can see what you're saying now man look at that lit whoa listen to that
38:30this game
38:30is a rock concert it's an equalizer it's a light show boom you're in 1980 again got a free game
38:38now something's stuck yeah might want to unplug it Ryan what do you think this the retail on this
38:45bank of balls worth in this condition due to the rarity of it even as a wedge head you want
38:51to put
38:51about 200 to 300 into this once it's there I would say you're flying above 2k if you clean up
38:57that scuba
38:58and put 200 bucks into it and made it really pretty you could get 12 to 15 okay and then
39:04I think
39:05nitro ground shaker gone through would get 2 500 easy all day long so that's the cool thing about ems
39:12it's like this is it when we find them sometimes that's the last one we're ever going to find
39:16nitro ground shaker you're never going to see another one in that condition and you're never
39:20going to see a scuba again all right buddy thank you for everything man I thought if we end up
39:25getting any of these I'll hit you up okay all right thank you later love you too bye peace I
39:29feel
39:30overstimulated would you sell these three games when you ask somebody is it for sale and you're standing
39:37there all of a sudden everything that they've been thinking becomes real you know it's like okay wow
39:43okay this is it this is the moment I've been thinking about this for a long time I called these
39:47guys
39:48and when you get excited about it like me and Robbie getting excited about stuff sometimes they fall in
39:53love with it again I'd probably sell those two this one I'm a little hesitant on but if the price
40:02which what's your connection to this one the cars yeah I know I can see yeah but if you truly
40:08love
40:09people and you truly love being around other collectors there's that connection there's a
40:14brotherhood and we understand each other and it's we don't take it lightly but I got more than I need
40:21yeah you know you got too many when you start using them for tables what would you sell these two
40:27games for I'm thinking a thousand a piece two thousand for the pair what if we so the money's
40:33really to be made on this one because at a thousand dollars on this you know you're you're you can
40:38buy
40:38it well actually you're right there because a thousand dollars on this game if this is twelve hundred
40:46bucks after it's massaged well come back at me or I mean um well I tell you what I have
40:55no problem
40:55on a thousand on that how about eight hundred on that eighteen hundred and then what did he say
41:04if that thing was rock and roll and just 25 all day long man it's got my heart right up
41:09here a little
41:1018 on those two how much on this one I mean where do you need to be for to feel
41:14comfortable even letting
41:15that go even if you even want to thirty five hundred for all three that puts us at a thousand
41:26and eight
41:27hundred and seventeen seventy however you want to do the math but yeah thirty five hundred for all three
41:33all right all right we did it we got there we did we got there man I think the reason
41:39Brad sold us some
41:40of this stuff is because he saw that we had the same exact passion that he had you know at
41:46the end
41:46of the day as collectors we want to see our stuff go down the road to someone that loves it
41:52just as
41:52much as we did I tell you what I know those machines meant a lot you had them a long
41:57time and so yeah
41:58listen it's it's so cool you know after having stuff for a while to put it out back in the
42:02hobby
42:03bittersweet is how it felt but I gained some cash so I can go buy some more stuff
42:06see ya
