00:13:28This is what happens when that field gets mixed up like that. You have instances where you're trying to get
00:13:33by cars, forcing the issue, and it looks like right here, you know, it's going to put an end to
00:13:39Ty Gibbs' day.
00:13:42So Corey Heim, part-time driver for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin's team, 23-11, has the Xfinity fastest lap
00:13:50of the race just set two laps ago, and Brad Kozlowski also set his personal best on that lap.
00:13:58Josevar early in the race, ran his quickest lap.
00:14:04Back at lap two.
00:14:07All right, let's see what happened to Ty Gibbs.
00:14:12You can see him back here in the back. I think he got help, Kevin. I can't tell who's the
00:14:16car behind him, but I think it might be Ryan Preece.
00:14:23Yeah, he definitely got into the back of him for sure.
00:14:25And that's a product. All right, he lost that track position.
00:14:28I just said, man, he was just running up front when he got sideways, hit that bump earlier, and contending
00:14:33for the lead, the point spot.
00:14:35Gets mired back in traffic with a four-tire stop, and now he's in the pits with a junk race
00:14:41car.
00:14:42Another single car caution seems to be the hallmark of the Texas Motor Speedway.
00:14:48A little damage on the nose of Preece's car.
00:14:52Probably got green paint on it.
00:14:57These caution laps are helping those cars that stayed out make it to the end on fuel. I don't see
00:15:01anybody pitting here.
00:15:04Well, that's what you hope so when you stay out on the racetrack like that.
00:15:09Caution, please. I need to save some gas.
00:15:11There's the Celsius cam of A.J. Allmendinger.
00:15:15Having a run here today. He's 15th.
00:15:26When the All-Stars come to town, you don't stay home.
00:15:29On May 15th through 17th, you gather the crew.
00:15:32You pack the cooler.
00:15:33You make it a monster weekend.
00:15:35Tailgates, free fan zone fun, and the NASCAR All-Star Race at Doberm Motor Speedway.
00:15:40This is the weekend everyone talks about.
00:15:43Get your tickets today at dobermotorspeedway.com or call 800-441-RACE.
00:15:51It starts with Celsius.
00:15:52Feel what I can feel good about.
00:15:54I'm going to need it.
00:15:54I'm training for life.
00:15:56From after school pickups to meal prep to a 12-hour night shift.
00:15:59I don't have time to get ready.
00:16:01I've got to stay ready.
00:16:03Dump Patrol starts with a Celsius.
00:16:04I've got a whole day to seize.
00:16:06First, it's cardio.
00:16:06Then, it's a race against the clock.
00:16:08Refuel.
00:16:08I've got 48 to do and 24.
00:16:11It's 449 a.m.
00:16:13Grab a Celsius.
00:16:14Lock in.
00:16:14I've got a goal to hit and a deck to conquer.
00:16:16A party to be the life of and all the essential energy I need to do it.

00:17:23Welcome to Wendy's.
00:17:24Let's go, boys!
00:17:32Go, go, go!
00:17:36Orla exhaust is a pipeline between driver and machine.
00:17:40That stadium concert sound absorbs into your chest, your shift hand, your soul.
00:17:46You are in the zone, fully connected with a rolling jet that breathes fire.
00:17:51Chevy drivers need a truck that shows up the same way they do.
00:17:56That's why Chevy Silverado is number one in manufacturer loyalty.
00:18:00So they can go where others won't.
00:18:02Always get it done.
00:18:04And as long as Chevy people keep showing up, we'll keep building trucks that do the same.
00:18:08Well-qualified buyers can get 0% financing on this Silverado, or 7,000 total cash allowance when you trade
00:18:14in an eligible vehicle.
00:18:15Plus, eligible military personnel can get $1,000 bonus cash on most Chevy models.
00:18:22The fastest racing on earth, it's the racing capital of the world, Alex Pillow looks to continue his dominance of
00:18:29the 14-turn IMS road course.
00:18:32It's the final race before the 500, Saturday, 4.30 Eastern, on Fox from Indianapolis.
00:18:41Let's go to the care center, Jamie Little.
00:18:43Joey Logano has been checked and released.
00:18:45Joey Logano has been checked and released.
00:18:45He avoided the on-track incident over 180 miles an hour.
00:18:48And then on pit road, 35 miles an hour, you're taken out of this race.
00:18:52What did you see there, Joey?
00:18:54Yeah, everyone was trying to do two tires.
00:18:56And, you know, the whole field's past you because the pit stops are so fast, the two tires.
00:19:01And, you know, he's checked up in front of me, stopped.
00:19:03And, you know, you're trying to look and try to get up out of the way.
00:19:07And he just stopped.
00:19:09And there's nothing I can do if I couldn't stop in time.
00:19:11So it's been a tough year, Jamie, to say the least.
00:19:14But proud of the speed we had today, discount tire Mustang had good speed, speed capable going up there and
00:19:20running.
00:19:20And, you know, into that long run there at the end of the stage.
00:19:22We were one of the best, if not the best car, which makes it hurt even more, to be honest
00:19:27with you.
00:19:27But I'm glad we had speed at least.
00:19:29And all you can do is keep digging and go to the next one.
00:19:32Thanks, Joey.
00:19:33Mike?
00:19:33So this is the third mile-and-a-half track we've been on this year.
00:19:37At Las Vegas and Kansas, there were no DNFs or did not finish.
00:19:43And already in the garage, Logano, Custer, and Bell.
00:19:47Bell from an on-track incident.
00:19:49Logano and Custer from that pit road collision.
00:19:52Heim and Keselowski up front for the restart.
00:20:01Yeah, I mean, on that last run, you see that quick lap time that Corey Heim laid down and gets
00:20:06another good restart right now.
00:20:08So he's looking like the cat's pajamas out front, looking good.
00:20:14Suarez battling for second.
00:20:18That battle's over.
00:20:20You're not getting off the hook with that, Kevin.
00:20:22We'll come back to that later because we've got some chaos going on.
00:20:25But Elliott outside of Stenhouse for fifth.
00:20:32Yeah, and you see just in the middle of the pack where everything is still mixed up up at the
00:20:36front.
00:20:38Everything's a little smooth, but in the mid right here.
00:20:40Oh, see, Josavar and Denny Hamlin.
00:20:43I don't know if they made contact, but they definitely both had to check up.
00:20:47And definitely got squeezed off the two.
00:20:51And then they squeezed Jones getting into three.
00:20:54You got to keep your elbows up.
00:20:55You lose positions in this dirty air like this.
00:20:59You can't get them back very hard.
00:21:00That's back at 16th place.
00:21:06And you got to do all you can do on these restarts to gain as much as you can because
00:21:10as they get strung out, the amount of cars that you need to pass and the time that it takes
00:21:14to pass them just keeps going up as you run throughout the day and the field spreads out.
00:21:20So when they're all packed up like that, you want to try to capitalize on as many spots as possible.
00:21:24Side by side for fifth, side by side for seventh.
00:21:28I hear you there, Kevin, but I think you need to take a deep breath, slow things down a little
00:21:34bit, let this race come back to you.
00:21:36Adversity is going to be a big part of what I'm seeing today at Texas.
00:21:40Well, that's what Chase Briscoe is doing.
00:21:42He restarted 14th.
00:21:44He is already up to ninth.
00:21:46Yeah, and I was really worried about that 19 car.
00:21:50It looked like that right front fender had damage, but it doesn't seem to have affected his car that much.
00:22:18And Tyler Reddick coming back up, challenging for the top ten.
00:22:22There you go, Mike.
00:22:23You finally said his name today.
00:22:24We haven't said it since we introduced him in the starting lineup.
00:22:27They just have a great knack right now of keeping themselves in the race, surviving the chaos, continuing to work
00:22:34on their car, and he'll be relevant.
00:22:36The next thing is over, most likely.
00:22:37Well, I'll tell you another name we haven't said all day.
00:22:39It's Chase Elliott in his number nine car.
00:22:41New life, clean air, got through all these circumstances, and now we've got the clean air, and we can flex
00:22:49some muscle and see what we're made out of.
00:22:50And Larry Chase just ran his fastest lap of the race.
00:22:54Yeah, and he's doing something a little bit strange.
00:22:57I won't say strange, but compared to Haim and Suarez, who's running first and second, Chase is using a ton
00:23:03of brake, a lot more than Haim and Suarez getting into one and two, and he's using brake getting into
00:23:08three, which Suarez and Haim is not using brake.
00:23:12But, yeah, Chase using a lot of brake both ends of racetrack.
00:23:15Yeah, and sometimes that's just to set that nose, Clint, to keep the thing, the front tires loaded up.
00:23:21And I don't know that you want to do that too long with the heat and everything, but definitely an
00:23:26option as you go here.
00:23:27Because a lot of times these cars, you make the speed getting into the corner further, set the front end,
00:23:33and then drive on.
00:23:34And that can go both ways.
00:23:35If you're loose into the corner, you can use brakes to keep the car loaded up with the chassis, rather,
00:23:43driveline, and helps it not be so loose in.
00:23:46Ty Gibbs, who just brought out the most recent caution, has just taken his car to the garage.
00:23:51Let's check with Josh on the leader.
00:23:53Well, guys, third start of the season for Corey Haim.
00:23:56Some strategy played to get up front, getting some valuable experience in terms of restarting on the front row.
00:24:02Got to do two of those, came over the radio, told the team,
00:24:05Hey, guys, let me know where the guys are making speed behind me so I know where I need to
00:24:09run.
00:24:09But pretty cool of all the drivers at 2311, Michael Jordan is in his pick box right now during this
00:24:15race.
00:24:16And he called this car the best one he's had in his cup starts, and he's making the most of
00:24:20it right now up front.
00:24:21Well, Haim was last year's Truck Series champion.
00:24:24He has 25 wins in the Craftsman Truck Series, fifth all-time.
00:24:28This is his third of 12 Cup Series starts that he will make this year.
00:24:34And somebody's going to have to find a place for this young fellow next season.
00:24:39They better find a spot or he's going to find a different spot.
00:24:42And, I mean, he has the ability to go out there and do it.
00:24:47Let me tell you something.
00:24:48They put this car in victory lane today.
00:24:50Michael Jordan, if I'm the driver, I'm coming to get him.
00:24:54If you have other plans, sorry, keep the boat parked.
00:24:57We're going to the racetrack.
00:24:58We need you, buddy.
00:24:59He is a good luck charm.
00:25:00He shows up, they go to victory lane.
00:25:0636 complete in Stage 2, which will end at lap 165.
00:25:11Corey Haim, two seconds up on Chase Elliott, Daniel Suarez, and Brad Kozlowski.
00:25:22You never know.
00:25:23You never know.
00:25:24Is this you?
00:25:25Yeah.
00:25:26It's my new RAV4.
00:25:27Do you think RAV stands for Rugged Adventure Vehicle?
00:25:33Whoa, dude.
00:25:35I feel like it's the Ridiculous Acceleration Vehicle.
00:25:38Yeah.
00:25:39All right.
00:25:41Isn't it the Recreational Activity Vehicle?
00:25:45I guess it could mean anything you want.
00:25:47Oh, yeah?
00:25:48What else you got?
00:25:49Toyota.
00:25:50Let's go places.

00:27:50Aerial coverage brought to you by Goodyear.
00:27:52Legends aren't born, they're proven.
00:27:58145 laps to go.
00:27:59We are halfway through stage two.
00:28:02Corey Heim leading Chase Elliott by two seconds.
00:28:05A little concern about Chase Briscoe, who was ninth but has faded now to twelfth over the last couple of
00:28:12laps.
00:28:13Didn't have a great runoff.
00:28:14Turn number two was slow down the back straightaway two laps ago.
00:28:18Now, the big question, who can make it to the end of this stage?
00:28:22Here's some radio from, I believe, Brad Kozlowski.
00:28:27The 47 is close to making it, but it's not as good as we are.
00:28:31The 67 is the one that for sure cannot make it.
00:28:35Probably the 42 and 38 as well.
00:28:37Copy.
00:28:38Copy, copy.
00:28:39Copy.
00:28:44And there's Briscoe slow again.
00:28:46Yeah, we saw this earlier.
00:28:50Thought he had checked up off a turn two, but you see it happening again right now.
00:28:55And we know that that car has some right front damage from that pit stop accident, so it looks okay
00:29:01through turns three and four.
00:29:03I just wonder if it keeps getting tight on the exit of turn two right here, Clint.
00:29:07I think it's got a rubs.
00:29:09Like, I think the fenders on the tire don't see any good year lettering on that right front.
00:29:14You see the damage.
00:29:15It's more than you think.
00:29:19Jamie?
00:29:19Well, the team assessed that damage on the right front, and they determined it was okay.
00:29:24They didn't need to bring him in to fix anything.
00:29:26And the wheel was straight as well.
00:29:28However, to your point, Mike, about what's happening with the 19, he said, I am too loose.
00:29:33I'm just over-rotating and giving up spots.
00:29:36Boy, Joe Gibbs Racing at one point in this race, they had four cars in the top five, and now
00:29:41they have two in the garage.
00:29:44Larry Mack?
00:29:45Yeah, let's take a look at the top five on what this fuel situation is.
00:29:49Now, Chase Elliott, he pitted at lap 94.
00:29:52He's going to be good to go, so he's good.
00:29:55Let's talk about Keselowski, Daniel Suarez, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
00:29:59They all pitted basically at lap 84.
00:30:04So what they're having to do, we've got 15 cautions.
00:30:08They're going to have to run 66 green laps plus those 15 cautions.
00:30:11That's why they're telling him maybe one, two, maybe three shy.
00:30:15The one I'm concerned about is Corey Heim, because he has not pitted since lap 70.
00:30:20We have had 23 cautions, but he's trying to run 72 green flag laps.
00:30:26That is a stretch when you add in those cautions as well.
00:30:30Yeah, Corey Heim and Zane Smith are the two cars that were last on pit road at lap 70.
00:30:35Would have a long way to go to try to make it to the end of stage two.
00:30:42See how wide this racetrack, as we ride on board with Allmendinger here on both ends, has just widened out
00:30:49so far.
00:30:50Actually have more widened out than what you can actually use in this car from the truck in O'Reilly
00:30:56race.
00:30:58So, finally calming things down, seeing some green flag runs, and now you see the 11 car marching back up
00:31:04to the front,
00:31:04like we saw at the beginning of the race, up 11 positions, Denny Hamlin.
00:31:09William Byron, nice recovery from his spin back at lap 93 among the biggest movers.
00:31:16I don't think there's anybody that can beat Denny Hamlin if he gets back to the front.
00:31:20I think Christopher Bell and Ty Gibbs were about the only two cars that can probably hang with Denny Hamlin.
00:31:27But right now, he's in a league of his own as far as lap time goes for the most part,
00:31:32most every lap.
00:31:33That's exactly what we've come to know about this track at Texas, though.
00:31:36I mean, it throws things for a loop, and when them cautions start coming out here, you're mired in traffic,
00:31:41we're getting squeezed, we're frustrated on the radio.
00:31:44That's how you beat a Denny Hamlin.
00:31:46A couple of other drivers that were up front early, Carson Hosivar, who led four times for 35 laps, back
00:31:53in 15th,
00:31:57and Kyle Busch in 13th after running the first quarter of this race in the top five.
00:32:05Hamlin Stenhouse for sixth place, and just ahead, Suarez and Buscher for fourth.
00:32:11Much like we saw in that first run, Suarez is having trouble on the wrong run again,
00:32:16but that sequence of all those stops and all that stuff getting crazy put him right back into the play.
00:32:23Got stage points, and now we're back up front in clean air.
00:32:26And Suarez went to the back so fast in the first run, I thought he would never even be close
00:32:30to getting back into this race,
00:32:31but there he sits fourth.
00:32:34Just never know the twists and turns of what's going to happen today.
00:32:38As he battles Chris Buescher, Todd Gilliland, who brought out the first caution at lap 69,
00:32:43the one that took Christopher Bell out of the race,
00:32:45is a lap down and has been posted by NASCAR to pick up the pace that he is not meeting
00:32:51their minimum speed,
00:32:52and he's come to pit road.
00:32:59So, 32 cars on the lead lap, 23 to go here in stage two.
00:33:15Teammates Kozlowski and Buscher for RFK running third and fourth in their Mustangs behind Himes Toyota and Chase Elliott's Camaro.
00:33:54Four parks, one vacation that changes everything.

00:34:02Here's what we'll say about the road to greatness.
00:34:06The name Ford is synonymous with desert racing.
00:34:10You gotta keep pushing. The desert's not gonna let up.
00:34:13It sure isn't paved.
00:34:15It's a challenge just to finish.
00:34:32This is Arby's quarter pound pulled pork and chopped brisket.
00:34:35Both are smoked slow for up to 13 hours.
00:34:38Tender, juicy barbecue like this isn't magic.
00:34:41Although there is a lot of smoke involved.
00:34:43Poof!
00:34:44Arby's, we have the meat.
00:34:47Wearing regular shoes feels this cramped.
00:34:51A GlideStep WideFit hands-free sketcher slip-ins feel like this.
00:34:56The sketcher slip-ins just step in, no bending down, no touching my shoes.

00:35:35Really? That's my intro?
00:35:37This is Carson Hosopover.
00:35:40He doesn't follow the scripts. He rewrites it.
00:35:42Coolest guy, tough right now.
00:35:44One minute, flat out, inches from the wall.
00:35:46Just move. Move out of the way.
00:35:47Next, Hall of Chaos. Full set.
00:35:51Unapologetic in a hurricane of hell yeah.
00:35:54All the way to Victory Lane.
00:35:56I knew we were going to win. I really did.
00:36:05Corey Haim leading in Texas, but what is the fuel story with the 67?
00:36:11He was last on pit road at lap 70.
00:36:14Everybody else pitted at either lap 84 or 94.
00:36:18And you see the approximate fuel level in the cars on our pylon on the left side of the screen.
00:36:2527 laps, or 26 now to go in stage two.
00:36:29Can he make it?
00:36:30Go ahead.
00:36:31Clint says yes.
00:36:32I think they go for it.
00:36:34Well, they're not running for points, so they have nothing to lose other than the race.
00:36:39And if they don't have some affordability to slow down a little bit and save me some.
00:36:44He has a 1.7 second lead.
00:36:46And I hear the other teams talk about where they are as far as being able to make it.
00:36:50It doesn't sound like they think that they can, so we'll find out.
00:37:04Yeah, and I still think that 11 car of Denny Hamlin is fast, and I think Corey Haim actually has
00:37:17the speed to be able to compete with him.
00:37:19Chase Elliott.
00:37:21Those look to be the best three cars as far as speed goes on the racetrack currently.
00:37:27Brad Keselowski's done a great job of playing strategy to put himself in a great position.
00:37:32They ran long on the first green flag stretch, worked things out so that now he is third, and his
00:37:39teammate Chris Buescher is fifth, and Daniel Suarez has had a nice rebound.
00:37:42And not only does that sound like Brad Keselowski this year, what we've seen with the RFK cars in general,
00:37:48Kevin,
00:37:48they've just done a good job of not making mistakes, getting the most out of every weekend, and that's exactly
00:37:54what we see on display with six car.
00:37:56Yeah, and we talk about Brad on a weekly basis of being able to, if he could just qualify better,
00:38:03he'd be able to do this throughout the whole race.
00:38:05But usually qualifying puts him in a hole.
00:38:10All right, let's go to Regan on the second-place car.
00:38:12Well, Mike, things going very well for Chase Elliott right now on that nine car.
00:38:16And something to keep in mind, he's been talking to his team throughout the day about the fact that when
00:38:20he pushes the pace,
00:38:21he feels like he can heat the right rear up.
00:38:23But when he can do what he wants to do and manage that right rear, it's pretty good.
00:38:26The only complaints he has had is when he does have to push that pace a little bit.
00:38:30But right now, where he's riding in second place, the ability to manage that right rear, he's been very pleased
00:38:35with a nine car
00:38:36and doing something right now that Alan Gustafson told me is very important to them, find a way to get
00:38:40stage points today.
00:38:41Well, he's got a good gap five seconds ahead of Brad Keselowski,
00:38:45and he's lapping about three-tenths of a second slower than Haim or Keselowski right now.
00:38:57Jamie?
00:38:58Brad Keselowski's been doing a great job saving there in third.
00:39:01Jeremy Bullens, his food chief, just came on the radio and said,
00:39:04all right, we're looking to be good on fuel.
00:39:06If you want to run it a little bit harder, go for it.
00:39:09He was the third fastest lap last time by.
00:39:14Larry, how about our leader?
00:39:15Yeah, I've been studying some more numbers, Mike, and I just want to clarify.
00:39:19Pitted on lap 70.
00:39:20That means he's got to run 72 green flag laps, which is doable,
00:39:25but that does not include the 23 cautions that were in there as well.
00:39:29Clint was asking me during commercial break,
00:39:32the only thing I am seeing, he's starting to pick the throttle up a little later,
00:39:36just a little later, maybe trying to save a little fuel,
00:39:39but guys, that's a lot of fuel to save right there.
00:39:42Sure is.
00:39:42Now, Zane Smith also stopped at lap 70,
00:39:45and we're told that he will pit about five laps from now.
00:39:49Smith, that is.
00:39:5919 laps to go in stage two.
00:40:02Corey Heim out in front of Chase Elliott by almost four seconds.
00:40:10I've been told my whole life that I'm pretty fast.
00:40:13For a girl.
00:40:15Well, I hate to break it to you,
00:40:17but that's not true.
00:40:20Jay, out of the scene, gets it done.
00:40:23Because with the right team, you write your own story.
00:40:29So, no, I'm not fast for a girl.
00:40:33I'm fast, period.

00:42:02A celebration of life, liberty, and the pursuit of speed.
00:42:08Lucky to do this.
00:42:09Thanks to all the people that sacrificed for it.
00:42:11That's why we stand with pride and reverence.
00:42:14To celebrate the men and women whose sacrifice and commitment makes our pursuit possible.
00:42:21Together with Coca-Cola, NASCAR salutes.
00:42:27With 14 laps to go in stage two, Corey Heim is the leader.
00:42:31He's not been on pit road since lap 70.
00:42:34Zane Smith, the other driver in that situation, did stop for fuel a lap ago while we were in break.
00:42:43So here's Heim, he's going to surrender the lead and come to pit road now.
00:42:49Chase Elliott will be the new leader as Heim gets down to pit road speed and has a long drive
00:42:59down to his stall.
00:43:02He'll fill it up with Sunoco race fuel with Poets zero carbon bioethanol and may take on some Goodyear Eagles.
00:43:10Josh?
00:43:11Well, they ran it out as long as they could with that fuel.
00:43:14Corey Heim came over the radio and told him he is comfortable with that car.
00:43:17There's four tires and enough fuel for the 67 here.
00:43:25Well, the thing that Corey Heim learned right there is he can, if they have the track position, he can
00:43:29run as fast as he needs to run to lead this race.
00:43:32And I hate that they're going to, you know, not be able to race at the front of the pack
00:43:38anymore.
00:43:38But they know that they have a car that's capable to do that.
00:43:44Regan, what about Ricky Stenhouse?
00:43:46Well, Mike, it's going to be very close on Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
00:43:49Take a listen to this radio that we just picked up.
00:43:51And I can tell you, the frequency is much more.
00:43:53They keep telling him every other lap this.
00:43:56We need to save some.
00:43:58We need to save some more.
00:43:59We need to save a little more here.
00:44:01We're very close.
00:44:02Keep saving.
00:44:03A little more.
00:44:06And that's good intel.
00:44:07They're watching how much he's saving.
00:44:09All right, that's not enough, driver.
00:44:10Save a little bit more, Ricky.
00:44:12Need to back the corner up.
00:44:13Let it roll a little bit longer before you pick up the gas.
00:44:16Turns one and two, in my opinion, Kevin, at Texas is probably the only place that you can really save
00:44:21the fuel the most.
00:44:22Yeah, and there's a lot of different strategies to that.
00:44:24Really, you know, as you go down the straightaway, you'll probably back off the throttle to, you know, five-eighths,
00:44:29three-quarter throttle.
00:44:30And as you go through the corner, just try to lift earlier, let it roll further.
00:44:34When you go back to the throttle, try to go back to the throttle a little bit slower.
00:44:38But really, you want to go back to the throttle in the corner.
00:44:42And when you get to the exit of the corner, lift down the straightaways.
00:44:44You tend to lose less time that way.
00:44:47At the end of the day, you want to keep backing it up until they tell you.
00:44:50You let them just kind of walk you to the water here.
00:44:53Tell me how much.
00:44:54All right, that was good enough.
00:44:55There you go.
00:44:56Now do that again.
00:44:57Replicate that.
00:44:57Now Tyler Reddick was on pit road ten laps later than Ricky Stenhouse as they battled for sixth place.
00:45:04When Corey Heim stopped, it seemed like a risk-free strategy.
00:45:09There were only two cars one lap down.
00:45:11But now Chase Elliott has begun lapping traffic.
00:45:14He's put Briscoe and McDowell a lap down.
00:45:17So Heim has little chance at the free pass position.
00:45:20When the caution comes out at the end of the stage, though,
00:45:23they may take the wave around if all the other lead lap cars pit.
00:45:27But to your point, they're right in front of him.
00:45:30Go, Cat, go.
00:45:32Run them down quick.
00:45:33Yeah, he's got to run them down quick because he's running 29.50,
00:45:37and they're running, you know, 30.86, 30.70 last lap.
00:45:40So he's going to go right by Michael McDowell down the back straightaway.
00:45:48Larry Mack?
00:45:49I would say in percentage, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is wide open, probably 5% of a lap.
00:45:55He is definitely saving fuel.
00:45:57Trying to get some stage points here in sixth right now.
00:46:01He's going to surrender that to Reddick.
00:46:04Right now, Kyle Busch is the last driver in a points position as Heim gets past Briscoe.
00:46:11And now, Corey Heim is in the free pass position.
00:46:14Didn't take long, Bill, Mike.
00:46:16Well done.
00:46:18As long as Chase Elliott doesn't continue lapping cars in these last seven laps of the stage.
00:46:23I think he'll run Elliott down and get his lap back where you won't have to get the free pass
00:46:27and go to the tail end of the longest line.
00:46:29That's a huge benefactor.
00:46:30Turn two.
00:46:31Car spins and is in the wall.
00:46:34Kyle Larson.
00:46:37Wow.
00:46:38His day just got worse.
00:46:39Fifth caution of the day.
00:46:40Lap 160.
00:46:42Got some big damage on the left rear right there.
00:46:44Tires are up.
00:46:45No, I just lost it.
00:46:47Another single car spin and crash.
00:46:50Said on the radio, he just lost it all by himself.
00:46:53Yeah, and we saw Bubba Wallace do this yesterday in practice.
00:46:57And you could hear the disappointment in Kyle Larson's voice right there on the radio
00:47:01that he just lost the back end of the car.
00:47:03But it happens fast over there.
00:47:05When that back snaps around, you have no chance in saving it.
00:47:10Six laps to go, five now in stage two.
00:47:16And Corey Heim gets the free pass.
00:47:22As Larson tries to limp his way back to pit road.
00:47:26Yeah, and it looks like that car won't steer, so he's
00:47:29just bouncing it off the wall.
00:47:39So we're going to watch this from A.J.
00:47:41Allmendinger's on-board camera.
00:47:49He can see Kyle's all by himself.
00:47:52Kind of right in the middle of the racetrack.
00:47:54A lot like Bubba.
00:47:55We saw it.
00:47:56Identical.
00:47:57Yep.
00:47:57He's coming up from underneath of him.
00:47:59He's been struggling with the handling of that car all day.
00:48:03And we've heard him.
00:48:07We've heard him talk about his, you know, the front of his car not turning.
00:48:10And that's the hardest thing to fix here.
00:48:12Because the back of the car is already on edge with all the bumps and high speed.
00:48:17And, you know, just the way that this racetrack is.
00:48:20So when you're trying to fix that front-end turn, a lot of times you make the front-end
00:48:25turn better and give up grip in the back.
00:48:27A reminder of how tricky it is to nail the balance on these race cars, too.
00:48:32Here comes your leaders.
00:48:34Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin lead them down pit road along with Busher, Suarez, Stenhouse,
00:48:42and Moore.
00:48:43Most of the lead lap cars are in.
00:48:50Mike, you see the ninth car.
00:48:53Chase Elliott right there.
00:48:54No complaints from the driver.
00:48:55He was just unleashed about two laps ago and told, don't save us any more fuel.
00:48:59And the 11 of Denny Hamlin said it's pretty good right now.
00:49:01Josh?
00:49:02Busher happy with the car during that run.
00:49:04Slightly free but good and clean air.
00:49:06Four tires and fuel.
00:49:0717 car.
00:49:22See four laps to go right here in this stage.
00:49:25So these guys are going to.
00:49:29Well, RFK, why don't we just call them the contrary team?
00:49:32Because Brad Keselowski and Ryan Preece stayed out trying to get some stage points.
00:49:38Four laps to go in the stage.
00:49:47I'm not sure that's a winning strategy, but I applaud their willingness to try something different than what everybody else
00:49:53does.
00:49:54Well, it's definitely different.
00:49:55And if this thing does go back green, it's, they're going to get swarmed by all these new tires.
00:50:01You saw how fast Corey Heim went by all those cars that had old tires, and that's what will happen
00:50:06right here.
00:50:12Well, the answer to this question is not Joey Logano.
00:50:15Maybe Kyle Larson.
00:50:17Between them, they've won four of the last five titles.
00:50:20But since their last victories, 14 different drivers have been to victory lane.
00:50:25Two first-time winners.
00:50:27Four drivers with five wins.
00:50:32And that drop for Logano continues as he is in the garage area after a crash on Pitt Road back
00:50:38at lap 95.
00:50:49And here's Ryan Blaney blocked in.
00:50:52We talked about this earlier.
00:50:54This is a product of bad qualifying.
00:50:58Eric Jones was in his box.
00:51:01He had to back up to get out of it.
00:51:08I don't know what to do different.
00:51:09Short as f***ing pit boxes.
00:51:11I can't get a round-hand guy at the nutty angle.
00:51:14So I don't know what to do there.
00:51:19Well, that's frustrating.
00:51:20Jones' stop was a legal stop with the right rear hanging outside the box, but it sure didn't give Blaney
00:51:25much room.
00:51:26Now, three drivers took the wave around to get back on the lead lap.
00:51:31Chase Briscoe, Michael McDowell, and Cody Ware.
00:51:37So we will restart with 30 cars on the lead lap.
00:51:40And in this pit stop situation with Blaney, I mean, for Eric Jones, when Ryan Blaney's car is sitting there,
00:51:47they're already changing the tires.
00:51:48So you've got to go around the tire changers.
00:51:50And you try to get as far into your box as you can, but you wind up with all that
00:51:54angle in it.
00:51:54So the car is angled.
00:51:56You're at the front of the box.
00:51:57There's not a good situation right there to help Ryan Blaney.
00:52:00All right, we're going to choose and restart with one lap to go in the stage.
00:52:12Jamie?
00:52:13Just to update Brad Keselowski, it was basically him that made the call to stay out.
00:52:17He said, I'd rather stay out and go for these stage points.
00:52:20So they did, and he was asking where he was in comparison to everyone else.
00:52:24They said, you're leading.
00:52:26Let's go out and make the most of it.
00:52:27Get this third stage win of the season.
00:52:30He and his teammate Ryan Preece will share the front row.
00:52:34Preece was 16th when the caution came out, and now he's in second place
00:52:39and in position to be one of the ten cars that will get stage points after just one lap.
00:52:46Hold on.
00:52:46Hold your breath.
00:52:47I'm holding my breath because they are going to be in the way.
00:52:50I was going to say, they're the ones holding their breath.
00:52:53You want me to do what?
00:52:55Elliott and Hamlin behind them, and then Tyler Reddick up there into the top five
00:53:02for, I believe, the first time today.
00:53:08God, I hated these situations, Clint, when they would lead me out on old tires like this.
00:53:12I'm like, all right, go get us some points, guys.
00:53:14Puts a lot of pressure on you.
00:53:15Chris Buescher will restart from the third row.
00:53:18That puts all three RFK cars right up toward the front.
00:53:22It's going to be green and then green checker.
00:53:25Here we go.
00:53:29Great jump by Brad, though.
00:53:33Yeah, and that's what you want to do when you...
00:53:36Great jump for a good start for both of them, really.
00:53:39Oh, my gosh.
00:53:40You see the 60 car up the hill, but you see the difference in speed.
00:53:45It's only one lap, though.
00:53:46Yeah, luckily, they only have to go one lap.
00:53:48They're only going to lose a couple spots.
00:53:50Elliott sends it into turn three.
00:53:54Reddick on the bottom.
00:53:55Hamlin coming.
00:53:57Here they all come for the stage win.
00:54:00Give it to Chase Elliott.
00:54:01Elliott, Reddick Kozlowski holds on for third, and I believe Priest for fifth.
00:54:07First stage win of the season for Elliott.
00:54:09And for RFK Racing, mission accomplished.
00:54:14I guess.
00:54:17Chase Elliott, stage two winner.
00:54:23A race break at Texas Motor Speedway.
00:54:26Pre-race, we heard words like treacherous and carnage, and we've seen that so far.
00:54:31We tried to get out to say hi to those fans and thanks for the welcome, but we've kind
00:54:35of taken a detour to victory lane with Jamie, Chris, and that's where one of these drivers,
00:54:40it seems like they might have to take a detour to get here.
00:54:43But we still have Tyler Reddick in the mix.
00:54:45He's been in the top ten all day, and Carson Hosovar trying to win back-to-back.
00:54:49So let's recap.
00:54:50If you weren't with us a little bit early, even if you were, there's things worth going
00:54:54back to as Todd Gilliland here takes out Christopher Bell.
00:54:59Bell couldn't avoid him.
00:55:00Bell led 22 laps.
00:55:02Toyota set the early pace.
00:55:04Another unfortunate race for Christopher Bell.
00:55:07Eric Jones, his first ever career stage win, tenth year that we've had stage racing.
00:55:12Yeah, and we see Briscoe trying to leave his stall.
00:55:14Larson's trying to get in contact, but that wasn't the only contact on Pitt Road.
00:55:19Joey Logano and Cole Custer, watch right here.
00:55:21Cole slows down.
00:55:22Joey doesn't see that.
00:55:23Huge impact.
00:55:24The end of Logano's day.
00:55:25Yeah, last year they had the most cautions of any mile and a half race, and it seems like
00:55:31we're on our way to that.
00:55:33Brian Priest here dumping Ty Gibbs, one of those first-time winners.
00:55:37At least, we'll just say, getting into the way of things.
00:55:40And Kyle Larson having some problems.
00:55:43We've had single car spins.
00:55:44We even saw that in practice yesterday.
00:55:47Chase Elliott for Hendrick Motorsports.
00:55:50While Larson is having a tough time, he takes stage two.
00:55:54Carson Postemore, by the way, has been as far back as 22nd.
00:55:58He has led 35 laps.
00:56:00And Tyler Riddick has been impressive.
00:56:02That's the story we'll be watching closely with you.
00:56:05Let's head back to the booth.
00:56:08Thanks, Chris.
00:56:10Sorry, we're eating a frozen custard.
00:56:12We'll be with you in a second.
00:56:13Larry, tell me about Chase's pit stops today.
00:56:16Yeah, he has made four trips to Pitt Road, three for four tires.
00:56:20All of them have been under nine seconds.
00:56:23They came in here ranked second of the top 36 teams.
00:56:26That nine pit crew getting it done all year long, but especially today.
00:56:30That's one good reason why he is the leader.
00:56:32He will restart with Tyler Riddick, the point leader and big winner so far this season.
00:56:38Chevy, Toyota on the front row as they approach the Echo Park Automotive Restart Zone for stage three.
00:56:47And where he is, the new closer, talking about Riddick.
00:56:52They just keep themselves in the game.
00:56:54And today is another classic example of the 45 just working on their card, trying to make their stuff better.
00:57:01See him battling Chase Elliott for the lead right now.
00:57:09Be careful with the bump on that outside.
00:57:18As they came down that backstretch, Hosovar was mirror driving Bowman all the way down to the inside of the
00:57:23racetrack to hold on to seventh place.
00:57:30Ninth, Byron Stenhouse side-by-side.
00:57:36And that strategy for Stenhouse worked out pretty good.
00:57:39He's been able to get stage points in both of these stages.
00:57:41William Byron, we saw him sideways through the grass earlier.
00:57:46Now sitting in ninth spot.
00:57:49Another nice recovery.
00:57:52But I don't think any compares to what Daniel Suarez has done today.
00:57:58He dropped like a rock from the opening green flag.
00:58:01But, boy, they have built on it and put him back up into contention in fourth place here.
00:58:05Well, that's why you take those chances, right?
00:58:07They took the chance and the caution played right in their favor.
00:58:11Put them back in position, and they haven't looked back since.
00:58:19I mean, look at that.
00:58:20Second, 17th, 20th, 5th, 4th.
00:58:23Yeah, I mean, I can't even express how big of trouble he was in early in this race when he
00:58:30was going to the back.
00:58:31I mean, he couldn't get himself there fast enough, you see, right behind him.
00:58:36And that's those circumstances.
00:58:37They took advantage of the circumstances, and they played in their favor this time.
00:58:41And how about Riley Herbst?
00:58:42He's in position to score his best mile-and-a-half finish of the season.
00:58:46He's had a really strong day, perhaps overshadowed by his 23-11 teammates.
00:58:51Another car that I was keeping my eye on has done a great job in all of that hectic and
00:58:55all the chaos.
00:58:57That 35 car did a good job just maintaining the backside of the top ten here, holding steady.
00:59:02Now, one car that's drifted back out of the top ten is Kyle Busch back here trying to hold on
00:59:07to 12th place.
00:59:08We have his radio.
00:59:11I can't fire.
00:59:12We have got to fix the fire.
00:59:14I cannot go.
00:59:15I am spinning out with the right rear.
00:59:18I'm saying his little bit of a bark about firing off too free.
00:59:21Like, it's all good.
00:59:22He ain't pissed at nobody.
00:59:24He's just saying we just got to get our together a little bit better.
00:59:26That's all.
00:59:27We're good.
00:59:27Oh, God, dude.
00:59:28I'm with you, man.
00:59:32And that's only worse back there in the traffic, Kevin.
00:59:35Oh, for sure.
00:59:36And look, sometimes you're going to have cars that just won't fire off.
00:59:40And I'd rather mine fire not fire off tight than I would be loose.
00:59:47But tough to get them right.
00:59:48But I think that as you look at the eight car this week, this is by far the best that
00:59:54they have run since Daytona.
00:59:57Competitive.
00:59:58I mean, it's a legit competitive race car.
01:00:00We haven't seen that out of the eight so far.
01:00:04And this is a race that you just have to keep yourself rolling.
01:00:07Try not to make any mistakes.
01:00:09Keep yourself in contention.
01:00:11Battle all that you can to not lose any track position.
01:00:15And you could wind up in the mix by the time you get to the end of this thing in
01:00:18the way that this is all mixed up.
01:00:20And right behind him, Bubba Wallace.
01:00:21Remember, Bubba spun into the Turn 2 wall yesterday.
01:00:25Had to go to a backup car.
01:00:26Bought his crew dinner last night for staying late and working on it to prep that backup car for today.
01:00:33And now he's about to pop into the top ten here.
01:00:37Yeah, and all those cars, those 2311 cars, have been fast today.
01:00:41You talk about Riley Herbst up there in seventh spot.
01:00:44Bubba Wallace back there in 13th from the back of the pack.
01:00:49Watch Corey Heim lead a ton of laps in the middle part of this race.
01:00:54So, definitely an interesting day for a 2311.
01:00:56Bubba Wallace's stop on lap 70 is the fastest timed four-tire stop ever.
01:01:03Jamie.
01:01:04I believe Alex Bowman has some motivation on his side, some momentum, all those things working in the right direction.
01:01:11Got a third-place finish last week, his first of the year.
01:01:14Remember, he missed a month for Vertigo.
01:01:17But so far today, he's had a vibration that's come and gone.
01:01:21But the car has been good.
01:01:22It's been fast.
01:01:23I talked to his crew chief, Blake Harris, and he said this is just the second time we've run this
01:01:27package on a mile and a half with Alex.
01:01:30So, there were a lot of unknowns going into it.
01:01:32But so far, so good as he runs sixth right now.
01:01:36Just a minute ago, we were talking about Kyle Busch struggling with fire-off speed.
01:01:40The other side of that is the nine car, your leader, Chase Elliott.
01:01:44That car really fires off strong because of that clean air.
01:01:47It was working loose throughout the race for him.
01:01:51And I think you're going to see that again in this run.
01:01:53But the advantage of that clean air for Chase Elliott is so important.
01:01:59Three of the Hendrick Chevys in the top ten right now with Kyle Larson in the garage.
01:02:04So, three out of four.
01:02:10Yeah, and as we have 85 laps to go, 84 laps to go right here.
01:02:15Any surprise that the top three in this race are also the top three in the NASCAR Cup standings coming
01:02:21into this race?
01:02:22No, it does not surprise me.
01:02:23Now, if you had asked me that an hour ago, Mike, I'd have told you you're crazy because Tyler Reddick
01:02:28was really nowhere to be found.
01:02:3384 laps to go in Texas.
01:02:36Chase Elliott out front.
01:02:43My mom is gone.
01:02:44I'm in charge.
01:02:45This sounds like a terrible idea.
01:02:47Nate's Guide to Parenting.
01:02:49I'm in charge.
01:02:49I'm in charge.
