Double delight for Tajikistan on Day 2 in Dushanbe

Day 2 of the Dushanbe Grand Slam 2026 brought more joy for the home crowd, with Muhiddin Asadulloev and Somon Makhmadbekov both taking gold. Gankhaich Bold and Aleksandra Kowalewska also topped the podium in a packed and vibrant arena.

00:00On day two of the Judo Grand Slam in Tajikistan, the arena was once again full to the brim with
00:06keen fans waiting to witness more world-class judo.
00:10The event was declared open by President of the Tajikistan Judo Federation, Mr. Ismoyle Mamadzoyer,
00:16while Ms. Luisa Aguias-Galea, International Judo Federation Logistics Director, also welcomed the judo family to Dushanbe.
00:23A spectacular cultural performance followed, consisting of traditional song and dance.
00:35On the tatami, it was an all-Mongolian affair in the under-63kg final, between Gankech-Bold and Enkrilen-Lukhagva
00:44-Tagou.
00:46With the contest heading into golden score, one false attack too many from Lukhagva-Tagou meant victory went to bold.
00:54Tajikistan Labour, Migration and Employment Minister, Ms. Soleyha Kola Mahmoudzoda, was on hand to award the medals.
01:02In the under-73kg final, rising Tajik star Muhyiddin Asad-Uloyev lived up to his number one seeding.
01:09Facing Karin Galshin in the final, he counted early on for an Ipon that sent the fans wild.
01:24Already a second gold medal of the event for the home nation.

01:59and earned Kovalewska a first Grand Slam gold.

02:42The medals were awarded by Dushanbe First Deputy Mayor, Mr. Bhakti Orsharifi.
02:47It was another amazing day for Tajikistan, who now have three golds, and whose athletes once again showed their skills.
02:55The final day tomorrow sees the heavyweights take to the tatami.
