00:18It's going to be like a lot of mayhem for like the first few weeks with these changes.
00:22Those changes will start from Tuesday. Usually peak services run every 6 to 10 minutes.
00:30Instead they'll operate every 15 minutes on the Gold Coast, Cleveland, Redcliffe, Springfield, Fernie Grove, Caboolture and Ipswich lines.
00:39And it'll be 30 minutes on the Shorncliffe and Beanlee lines.
00:44The trains will be more crowded. It will be slower.
00:47Slower too during non-peak periods when services will run every half hour instead of 15 minutes.
00:56This is about 80% of a normal weekday service.
00:59Or 270 fewer services each weekday.
01:04Queensland Rail says industrial action means it has a backlog of trains that need maintenance.
01:10That's 42 three-car sets. That is a lot of trains to have not available.
01:16These changes are a direct result of union impacts.
01:20Queensland Rail has offered an 8% pay rise over three years.
01:24But a cost of living adjustment could bring that up to 10.5%.
01:28The unions aren't happy though with what's on the table.
01:31The manufacturing union has hit out at QR and the government saying they should stop playing politics.
01:37While the electrical trades union has accused QR of effectively implementing a lockout of its members.
01:44If you're not doing your job, you won't be paid. And if this is not a lockout.
01:48This government has not said when these railfowl will finish.
01:53This government wants to have to decide on the safety of its members who don't use it to be fair.
