00:00Tonight, on The Proof is Out There, Alien Edition.
00:04It's the case that put Texas on the UFO map.
00:07What were the mysterious Lubbock lights?
00:09I can't think of a single rational explanation for this photo.
00:13Can this anomaly shed light on why Southern California is a magnet for UFOs?
00:18There's a lot of people who believe that UFOs open up wormholes or portals.
00:23The Catalina Islands would be a sort of entry point for UFOs to use.
00:28And is Las Vegas' UFO spike tied to Area 51?
00:32They're only about 80 miles from the famed Area 51,
00:36where the U.S. government has been going on retrieval missions to collect crashed UFOs.
00:43With UFO reports at an all-time high,
00:46we're examining the most compelling evidence caught on camera.
00:49Tonight's focus, UFO hotspots around the world.
00:53Our experts will analyze the evidence and then pass a verdict.
00:58Is it alien? Is it extraterrestrial?
01:01Consensus was, this is a UFO.
01:06The Proof starts now.
01:15Good evening and welcome to The Proof is Out There.
01:19UFO sightings happen all over the world.
01:21But UFO hotspots?
01:23Those are the places they just keep coming back to.
01:27Our first stop is Texas, where everything is supersized, including the UFO sightings.
01:33We've analyzed video from across the state, but we are zeroing in on Lubbock.
01:38For more than seven decades, it's been home to a phenomenon that has baffled experts.
01:44Let's see if we can shed some light on the Texas-sized mystery of the Lubbock lights.
01:50August 31st, 1951.
01:5318-year-old Carl Hart Jr. has his bed pushed next to an open window in his Lubbock, Texas home.
01:59He's waiting for a strange recurring phenomenon he'd read about in the papers.
02:03Suddenly, it appears.
02:04Hart grabs his camera and runs out into the backyard to capture the stunning sight.
02:08A V-shaped formation of 15 to 30 lights appears in the night sky.
02:15Eyewitnesses say the lights were bluish-green in color, traveling silently overhead from north to south.
02:21The lights then disappeared, only to reappear a few minutes later.
02:24Five days earlier, on August 25th, the same formation appeared in the sky in view of three college professors.
02:32One of which was an engineer and another was a physicist.
02:35If any group of people had the skills to figure out what this was, it was that group.
02:41After that first sighting, the professors would often observe these lights two or three times a night for the next
02:46few weeks before they disappeared forever.
02:48Despite no shortage of eyewitnesses, Carl was the only one able to successfully capture the lights on film.
02:54Carl Hart was ultimately interrogated by the U.S. Air Force and eventually the FBI as part of Project Blue
03:01Book.
03:01Project Blue Book was the codename for the systematic study of UFOs by the U.S. Air Force from 1947
03:07to 1969.
03:09Lieutenant Edward Ruppelt, who was the lead investigator on Project Blue Book, also got in on Hart's story.
03:15He looked at the negatives of the photographs and determined they were authentic and untampered with.
03:21Project Blue Book reviewed over 12,000 cases.
03:24About 700 of them were determined to be genuine UFOs, including the Lubbock Lights.
03:31However, Lieutenant Ruppelt also conducted his own investigation and later claimed to have learned what caused the Lubbock Lights.
03:38But don't get excited just yet.
03:40On the condition that he remain anonymous, a scientist confided in Ruppelt that these lights were actually consistent with a
03:47naturally occurring phenomenon.
03:48Ruppelt kept the secret of what the natural phenomenon is because he realized that any discussion or any information would
03:56lead people back to the scientist.
03:58So while Ruppelt may have had an answer, as far as we're concerned, the Lubbock Lights remain an unsolved mystery.
04:05No one knows exactly what these lights are, and many question that Ruppelt ever had an anonymous scientific source.
04:12Whatever this naturally occurring phenomena is, it has eluded other scientists for decades.
04:20This isn't your typical UFO sighting.
04:23This happened multiple times a night over two weeks, and hundreds of people saw it.
04:28But we still don't have confirmation of what it was, unless you believe Lieutenant Ruppelt really did have an anonymous
04:35source who figured it out.
04:37Let's see if our experts can shed some light on this mystery.
04:43Could this be a flock of birds reflecting the streetlights below them?
04:48Birds generally aren't going to be reflective enough to shine this brightly at night.
04:54I've photographed birds at night many times.
04:56They never show up as brighter than the surrounding sky.
05:00The birds are always silhouetted.
05:02These lights were incredibly bright.
05:04Others speculate that these were secret military craft.
05:07If we are to assume that each of the points of light that are on the photograph are an individual
05:14aircraft,
05:16that would suggest that these would be aircraft that are extremely densely packed together,
05:22far more so than what would be safe in conventional airborne operations.
05:27And so it leads me to believe that we're not looking at individual planes.
05:31Perhaps, then, this was one aircraft with several lights?
05:35But according to Ruppelt's independent investigation,
05:38the Lupic lights were thought to be flying at an altitude of only 800 to 1,000 feet,
05:42just a fraction of the height of a standard commercial aircraft.
05:46McMillan says any plane at that altitude should have been heard as well as seen.
05:51Eyewitnesses said that they didn't hear any noise.
05:53The idea that you would be able to do that silently,
05:56it's not consistent with the technology we have today, much less in 1951.
06:02What about Ruppelt's anonymous scientist?
06:04He claimed the Lupic lights were, quote,
06:07a very commonplace and easily explainable natural phenomenon.
06:10I can confidently say this is not meteorological.
06:13The reports say that this happened over and over continuous days.
06:17That is unlike weather.
06:19The wind conditions, the temperature, all that is going to change on a day-to-day basis.
06:23It's not astronomical either.
06:25Whether we're talking about meteors or comets,
06:28objects from outer space never fall in perfect formation.
06:32Which, of course, leaves only one more option.
06:35Whether or not it's out of this world, that's not for me to decide.
06:43Our verdict, the same as Project Blue Books.
06:45We're calling this a genuine UFO,
06:48at least until Lieutenant Ruppelt's anonymous source is revealed,
06:52along with his explanation.
06:57Lubbock has continued to be a hotspot,
07:00with over 60 reported sightings in the last two decades.
07:03Take a look at our next sighting,
07:04which has one loyal proof viewer seeing double.
07:09Memorial Day 2022, Lubbock, Texas.
07:12Insurance agent Blake Bednars is lounging by the pool with his family
07:17when he spots something odd.
07:18Or more specifically, two somethings flying in the sky above his house.
07:22It prompts him to begin recording on his smartphone.
07:25These were unlike anything I've ever seen before.
07:29They made no sound whatsoever.
07:32Look closely.
07:33The objects appear to fly in perfect formation,
07:35at a very tight distance to one another.
07:38They coordinate every turn, seeming to anticipate one another's changes.
07:43What's strange is no one said bird.
07:45That never came to anyone's mind because of the sheer size.
07:49In my opinion, the two objects were about the size of a small Cessna aircraft.
07:58As we saw in our first story, the Lubbock lights put this Texas town on the UFO map in 1951.
08:05And down in Lubbock, Texas, reports of lights that streaked across the sky on a clear, dark night.
08:11But before we call the men in black,
08:13let's consider another reason why Lubbock might have such busy skies.
08:16Lubbock is very close to multiple military bases in Clovis, Wichita Falls, and Abilene.
08:22So it's very possible that this is something that originated from one of those military bases.
08:30Blake is clearly a dogged UFO investigator.
08:33In fact, he said he later tried to search for the objects he saw on public flight radar sites.
08:38But he came up empty-handed.
08:40Will our experts?
08:45Let's start with the biggest question.
08:47Could Blake have captured an alien spacecraft?
08:49You see wings on both objects.
08:52What that tells us is, A, we can rule out spacecraft.
08:55Airplanes are designed to fly within the Earth's atmosphere by using gravity and using air currents to generate lift.
09:01Now, in the vacuum of space, you don't need wings.
09:05Could it be a military plane, then?
09:07Online speculation of Blake's footage noted similarities to the T-6 Texan II.
09:12It's a plane often used in Air Force training.
09:15As you can see by this cockpit footage, instructors use the T-6 to help new pilots get over the
09:21fear of flying very close in combat formation.
09:24But a T-6 should show up on radar.
09:27And remember, Blake's radar data research turned up a whole lot of nada.
09:31And Macmillan says something else is missing, too.
09:34A T-6 is a World War II-era propeller plane that is still in use to this day.
09:40That wouldn't be what we're looking at because we don't see the tail stabilizers of that aircraft.
09:46We're just missing that really key component.
09:49So if it's not a spacecraft and not a typical military fighter, can it just be a pair of large
09:54birds soaring?
09:56As more than a few online critics insist.
09:58Large birds are very likely what we're seeing here.
10:03If you look very closely throughout the video, there are certain portions where you can actually see what appears to
10:10be the wings dip and flap slightly, especially towards the corners.
10:16Now consider this.
10:17In this footage of soaring white pelicans, you'll see that they do soar in a similar manner to Blake's objects.
10:23But notice how often they flap compared to Blake's footage.
10:26And when they do flap, it's never with just one wing the way Blake's objects appear to.
10:31Plus, the wings on Blake's objects seem extremely rigid.
10:36If those wings don't move, it's possible that we're looking at a pair of drones flying in formation.
10:42There is a certain point when they turn to the side.
10:45Look where the wings are relative to the back of the body.
10:49The wings seem to be further back.
10:51And the front seems to be extended.
10:54That reminds me of an aircraft rather than a bird.
10:58These are definitely human-made.
11:00And I know that the military experiments with bird-shaped drones.
11:04I've seen them.
11:05So this is a possibility.
11:12Our verdict?
11:13Bird-shaped drones.
11:15We're going to go with D'Antonio.
11:17The motion of the craft is what does it.
11:19But did we witness some sort of brand new technology?
11:22According to reports, scientists are looking into transforming the bodies of deceased birds
11:27into actual flapping wing drones that might enable new ways of spying for military purposes.
11:34If you think you've seen one, let us know.
11:39California ranks as one of the top spots for UFO reports in the U.S., with more than 16,000
11:45sightings in the last three decades.
11:47And in Southern California, they are so frequent that, as you're about to see, even a normal day at the
11:53park can turn into a UFO encounter.
11:56January 30th, 2022, Laguna Niguel, California.
12:00Stephen Greenstreet and his family are spending their day in Ocean Breeze Park when his wife points out a mysterious
12:05object in the sky.
12:07Man.
12:07As Stephen peers through the branches of a tree, he begins to record this.
12:11No idea what the heck this is.
12:13Take a closer look.
12:14Stephen zooms into an elongated shiny object hovering in the clear blue sky.
12:19Now, we've seen plenty of UFOs on this show, but this one is kind of different.
12:24Look here.
12:25It appears to be made up of three different sections of circular or possibly cylindrical parts on top of each
12:33other.
12:34I'm not seeing any wings or visible means of propulsion, at least not at this angle.
12:38Stephen shot it from multiple angles around the park, and he admits he has no idea what he's seeing.
12:43The longer I look at it, the less it makes any sense, because there was wind, but this object was
12:50stuck in the sky.
12:52I was just baffled as to what the heck this could be.
12:55Yep.
12:56I swear to God it's been there 20 minutes.
12:59This isn't the first time a local in Laguna Niguel has seen something strange in the sky.
13:04Most of the sightings in Laguna Niguel actually happened a decade ago, with residents seeing bright orange lights, white lights
13:11chasing red lights, and even bright green fireballs.
13:15In fact, some believe the evidence points to an alien presence in Southern California dating back centuries.
13:21Some caves feature petroglyphs that some say are evidence of ancient civilizations visited by aliens.
13:28The drawings on these cave walls depict shapes and some figures that many believe hint at aliens.
13:36Google UFO and Laguna Niguel, and you'll see multiple sightings that have been reported in recent years.
13:42But why all the sudden activity?
13:45Well, many think Catalina Island just across from Laguna Niguel might be a factor.
13:50In 1967, two 12-year-old boys were allegedly abducted by aliens from a boat docked near the island.
13:56And even our own expert, Matthew Shadagas, has been studying strange phenomena over Catalina Island with the research group UAPX.
14:04But what do our experts think Stephen saw?
14:07Let's find out.
14:12Could this floating object just be a balloon?
14:15Shape-wise, a balloon would be our best fit.
14:19However, we should see it floating away.
14:21So whatever we're looking at is able to maintain a stationary position far longer than a balloon would be able
14:28to.
14:28On the other hand, there's no tell-tale signs of UFO-like movement.
14:32We don't see any of the behaviors that seem impossible.
14:35When we think of UFOs, extreme acceleration, right-angle turns, nothing that we see this object exhibiting is something that
14:44couldn't technically be done.
14:47Thanks to Stephen's solid camera work, we can rule out one possibility.
14:52One of the gold standards of UFO videos is to get multiple shots of the same thing from different locations.
14:58Again, using branches as reference.
15:01So this is definitely not a camera artifact because it appears in the right position in multiple videos.
15:07It's definitely something that's out there in the scene.
15:09What about a drone?
15:11We're not seeing the standard quadcopter rotors, but West says don't be fooled by the slim vertical shape.
15:17The only thing that is left is a coaxial drone.
15:21Now, a coaxial drone is a drone where all the propellers are in line, one above the other.
15:29Some of them look like vertical cylinders.
15:32Coaxial drones are designed with two centrally positioned rotors, which provide more lift, allowing them to carry heavy payloads, and
15:39also fly within tight spaces.
15:41And this object appears to have the same shape and design seen in a coaxial drone.
15:46McMillan likes that theory, though he adds that if it's a coaxial drone, it would be something unusual to see
15:51in the sky.
15:53They're not extremely common, but one of the things that coaxial drones have been developed for is the idea of
16:00delivery of goods or products.
16:02However, drone delivery is only available in a few test markets, and this one doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
16:08So why else would a coaxial drone be hanging in the sky above Laguna Niguel?
16:13McWest has an idea.
16:14Traditionally, area surveillance has been done with a helicopter, but now police departments around the country are increasingly using drones.
16:23So I think that's the most likely explanation based on what we see in these videos.
16:32Our verdict? We think this is likely a coaxial drone.
16:36Not only do the police use them to surveil, but fire departments often use them to aid in wildfire prevention.
16:43However, the purpose of this apparent coaxial drone remains a mystery, because when we contacted the town of Laguna Niguel,
16:51they assured us they don't use any such drones.
16:57Catalina Island is a key location in California's hotspot UFO history, and some believe it holds clues to whether we
17:04are alone in the universe.
17:06Our next video is from a small team of researchers who have banded together to try and answer that question.
17:12And they were shocked by what they found.
17:16Friday, July 16th, 2021.
17:18It's a foggy night, and a team of scientists from the research group UAPX is on a week-long expedition
17:23near Catalina Island off the coast of California.
17:26Then, shortly before 4 a.m., one of their motion detector cameras in night vision mode captures this.
17:34In the upper right-hand corner of the frame, a black hole suddenly appears in the sky.
17:38But take a closer look.
17:40Do you see that?
17:41A cluster of small dots begins to materialize inside, and researchers don't think they're mere stars.
17:46Physicist Dr. Matthew Shadagas is one of the researchers with the project.
17:49This is very strange, because this time stamp of this video does match with one of our most anomalous, highest
17:59-energy events that we recorded in our radiation sensor.
18:02Because UFO cases have historically involved radiation, the team came prepared with a radiation sensor.
18:08In normal circumstances, the average reading is about 1 to 2 mega-electron volts, but at the time of the
18:13anomaly, it jumped to 43.
18:16This isn't surprising, considering Catalina Island's long history of strange and anomalous phenomena.
18:22In fact, what may be one of the most important UFO sightings in history was documented only miles away in
18:282004.
18:29So as the story goes, on board the USS Princeton, on their radar, they encountered some sort of anomalous object
18:35between Catalina Island and several other islands in the channel.
18:39Two fighter jets are dispatched from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz to investigate.
18:44They approached what looked like to be a 40-foot-long-shaped tic-tac hovering, making erratic maneuvers just above
18:53the surface of the water.
18:54Then the pilots played chase with this object back and forth for several minutes before being ordered to return back
19:00to their aircraft carrier.
19:02But how did it get here?
19:04Benayas lays out one popular theory.
19:06There's a lot of people who believe that UFOs open up wormholes or portals between their world and travel through
19:12dimensions.
19:12This idea that we can open a gateway between place X and place Y and move between them.
19:20The Catalina Islands would be a sort of entry point for UFOs to use.
19:25When the scientists from UAPX filed a Freedom of Information request to get either satellite imagery or logs from any
19:33Navy ships in the area that night,
19:35they were told those files either don't exist or, if they do, they're classified.
19:41That's only added to the mystery.
19:43What exactly did they witness?
19:45We take that question to our experts.
19:51I've spent a lot of time looking at everything from aircraft to clouds to helicopters to birds to kites to
19:59you name it.
20:00And it doesn't match anything like that.
20:04It's within reason that it's a camera artifact.
20:07You can have all kinds of interference when you're working with electronics of any kind.
20:11One thing is clear.
20:13These aren't known stars.
20:15There's no constellation that matches.
20:17But might they be stars from another universe?
20:19Is it possible this is a wormhole?
20:22Think of a universe here with another parallel universe right next to it.
20:27You might be able to create a gateway that connects two universes.
20:32But the energy necessary to open a stable gateway between universes is that of a black hole.
20:39But there should be side effects.
20:42And that would be the force of intense gravitational fields.
20:45However, in this videotape, we don't see any examples of that.
20:49However, Kaku notes there is a scientific phenomenon which may explain what we're seeing.
20:55Fall streak is when you have a mass of super cold air in the sky.
20:59And there's a sudden influx of ice crystals.
21:02These ice crystals cause the water droplets that compose clouds to freeze and fall.
21:07Which creates a hole.
21:09In fact, many of the fall streaks were created by airplanes that went right by this mass of super cold
21:15air,
21:16causing literally a hole in space.
21:19Is this the result of a fall streak hole?
21:22Matthew Shadagas confirms it was one possibility among many explored by the UAPX researchers.
21:27We consider it a fall streak hole.
21:30However, we checked the FAA records of this day and time.
21:35There was no airplane at that location.
21:38And the idea that it's a camera glitch?
21:41Shadagas says no way.
21:42We find no evidence of a camera glitch in the entire week of the expedition that looks like this.
21:49How likely is it that this was a camera glitch that by coincidence happens to align with one of our
21:56most anomalous detections also in our radiation sensor?
22:00Is it alien?
22:02Is it extraterrestrial?
22:03As a scientist, I've got to see the evidence or the proof of something.
22:07But the flip side of that is I'm not so skeptical that I refuse to listen to a crazy idea
22:15just because there's no evidence for it yet.
22:22Our verdict?
22:23Until we get more definitive evidence, we have to go with unexplained phenomenon.
22:28While our experts were able to come up with some interesting theories, none can be confirmed.
22:33And if the team of scientists at UAPX isn't sure what's going on, it's clear there is more work to
22:40be done.
22:41When they do figure it out, we'll be the first to bring it to you.
22:51We'll be the first to bring it to you.
23:14At 11.23 at 11.49 p.m. in Las Vegas, a police officer whose name has not been disclosed
23:20is speaking with several individuals on a sidewalk when his body camera captures something unexpected.
23:28I don't know.
23:30Let's see that again.
23:32Zoomed in and slowed down.
23:34You see this green flash in the sky.
23:37The people have been blurred out.
23:39But the point of interest is this green object.
23:43The video in itself isn't anything too remarkable.
23:46But what happens next is really interesting.
23:49At around 12.30 a.m., a frantic call comes into the Las Vegas Metro Police 911 dispatch.
23:55A Las Vegas resident made a 911 call saying that there was some 100% not human being staring at
24:04him from his backyard.
24:06So there's two people or two subjects that are in your backyard?
24:09They're like eight foot.
24:11Nine feet, ten foot.
24:12They look like aliens to us.
24:13Big eyes.
24:14They have big eyes.
24:15Like, like, I can't explain it.
24:16And big mouth.
24:17They're tiny eyes.
24:18And 100% they're not human.
24:20Dispatch takes the call seriously enough that two officers respond.
24:24Body cams rolling as they roll up.
24:26What did you see?
24:27It was like a big creature.
24:29A big creature?
24:29Yeah, like a long 10 feet tall.
24:31The officers are aware of what happened in the sky an hour earlier.
24:35Because I'm not going to BS you guys.
24:36One of my partners said they saw something fall out of the sky too, so that's why I'm kind of
24:40curious.
24:40Did you see anything land in your backyard?
24:42The incident garnered national media attention, especially because it coincided with the biggest UFO news of 2023.
24:50These two incidents tie into a recent report from an Air Force official saying that the U.S. government has
24:57been going on retrieval missions to collect crashed UFOs to recover their bodies and study them.
25:04It's also worth noting that they're only about 80 miles from the famed Area 51, where most people believe these
25:12alien autopsies are taking place.
25:16Area 51 isn't the only secret base in Nevada.
25:20Area 52 is said to be a vast underground complex that can house up to 25,000 people.
25:27Area 6, a mysterious mile-long landing strip, is believed to be related to a top-secret fleet of drones.
25:35So, could this nearby close encounter have anything to do with yet another secret government program?
25:46In an era of AI video and deep fakes, we have to start with a basic question.
25:52Is this body cam footage authentic?
25:54So, the Axon system is the most common type of surveillance camera that officers wear to capture their perspective.
26:02We noted no evidence of manipulation.
26:04These recordings were unlikely CGI.
26:07So, what are we seeing in the video?
26:10Could it be a satellite falling back to Earth?
26:13Re-entering satellites generally seem to move a lot slower because they burn up in the upper atmosphere because that's
26:20what they're designed to do.
26:22But this is something that's made it through the Earth's atmosphere to a lower level.
26:26And so, its apparent speed is actually quite a bit faster than orbital debris.
26:31So, could this footage be a genuine UFO crash landing?
26:35UFOs generally maneuver in different ways.
26:38They would hover in the sky.
26:39They would make strange motions.
26:42They would have flashing lights.
26:43They generally don't leave trails like this.
26:45And they don't generally appear to be green.
26:48Based on the color, speed, and timing of this event, West plays a hunch and thinks he's got the winning
26:53hand.
26:54What we do know is that this is very consistent with a meteor.
26:58It's green, which comes from the composition of the nickel in the meteor.
27:01It's leaving a slight trail.
27:03And it's moving at about the same speed that we've seen other meteors fly across the sky.
27:07West is also ready to double down by saying not only is this not a UFO, it didn't even land
27:13in a backyard in Vegas.
27:15This event here was actually observed by many, many people.
27:18It was also seen by people as far away as in California, Arizona, and even in Utah and in Northern
27:24California.
27:25The most likely location of where this thing landed is actually up here in central Nevada, approximately 200 miles away
27:35from Las Vegas.
27:36So if this isn't a UFO and it didn't land in Vegas, what about the family's claims of a close
27:42encounter with 10-foot aliens?
27:45We have the eyewitness accounts, but I think the most likely thing is that they simply saw something in the
27:51backyard,
27:52perhaps a raccoon standing on the fence or something, and it startled them.
27:56And then they ran back inside, called the cops, said there was some giant being in the backyard.
28:01And then we roll in the other story of the fireball being seen, and it becomes a thing.
28:12Our verdict? We believe that the green light in the video is a meteor, which was later confirmed by NASA's
28:19Planetary Defense Office.
28:20As for the family's alleged backyard encounter with aliens, the Las Vegas police ultimately closed their investigation into those claims,
28:28as unfounded.
28:33You know what they say, what happens in Vegas, yeah, stays in Vegas.
28:40But what about what happens above Vegas?
28:44It was two nights before Christmas 2022, and all through the Las Vegas Strip, every creature was stirring.
28:49But the party atmosphere was broken when club manager Brett Feinstein spots a commotion outside his gentleman's club.
28:56I was walking through the club, and one of our security guards told me that there was a UFO above
29:03the club.
29:04As the club empties into the street to see the spectacle, Brett hits record on his smartphone.
29:09I pointed the camera up into the sky.
29:12There was a big red light, two long white lights, and then on each end of this thing were white
29:21lights.
29:21And the consensus was, this is a UFO.
29:26Oh, my God.
29:28With the Vegas city limits only a hop from the legendary Area 51 and other remote military bases, many wonder
29:35what kind of strange aircraft populate the Vegas airspace.
29:38We know that more than a dozen miles from Area 51, inside the Yucca Flats, lays Area 6.
29:44It's a lone landing strip.
29:46It has a handful of hangars.
29:48It's still classified by the Department of Defense and Homeland Security.
29:51It's very possible that what we're seeing in this footage is some type of a night test of drones or
29:56some type of an advanced aircraft.
29:58But in an age where billionaires have their own rocket ships, it's not just the military launching experimental aircraft.
30:05We know that Kimball Musk, the brother of Elon, had started his own drone company called Nova Sky Stories, based
30:12out of Nevada.
30:12In August of 2022, they had launched a series of blue light drones over Vegas.
30:17When the local community saw these lights in the sky, they quickly thought that this was some type of UFO
30:22activity.
30:25It takes 12 million lights to illuminate the Las Vegas Strip, making it the brightest city on Earth when viewed
30:33from space.
30:34Could these lights serve as a beacon to E.T. visitors?
30:38Or are they playing tricks on the eyes of the city's hard-partying humans?
30:42I'd put pretty good odds on the experts getting to the bottom of this one.
30:51Given the already crowded skies above Las Vegas, it's unlikely to be an alien spaceship or experimental aircraft.
30:58Given that the Las Vegas airport is quite active, we would have heard from air traffic control if there was
31:05something that was hovering atop of Las Vegas Strip.
31:08So could this be a different kind of flying machine, like a drone?
31:12If it was a military drone, it would be moving.
31:16Military drones generally don't hover.
31:18If it was a smaller drone, you would see the individual points of light.
31:22Here we see things that look like big objects.
31:25You could theoretically get a cluster of drones very, very close together, like 20,000 feet up.
31:30But that's something that's technically extraordinarily difficult to pull off, and it doesn't seem very likely in this case.
31:39Hernandez thinks the real clue may lie in those clouds and the Christmas weather.
31:44It was a chilly night in Las Vegas.
31:46It was 39 degrees.
31:47The clouds were at about 15,000 feet, which is important because at 15,000 feet,
31:53it was just cold enough for these clouds to have some ice particles, which would then promote the development of
32:00light pillars.
32:01Light pillars, you say?
32:03Well, yes.
32:04We have ice crystals that are suspended in the air that are acting as tiny mirrors,
32:09each tiny mirror reflecting a beam of light towards the viewer.
32:14Oftentimes, people think they're UFOs.
32:16In reality, it's an optical illusion.
32:18According to West, to figure out the source of those reflections, you first need a map of the strip.
32:24Someone noticed that this light here and this light here look kind of similar to two hotels,
32:30the Wynn Hotel and the Encore Hotel.
32:33And the red one here is the Hilton Hotel.
32:36And we can kind of demonstrate this by taking this particular image and overlaying it on top of a map
32:42of Las Vegas.
32:43Here are the hotels, the Wynn and the Encore, and over here, we have the Hilton.
32:48And if we take the photo that we were just looking at and we overlay it, we kind of see
32:53that they're in the same position.
32:54This is a light pillar map.
32:57It's a reflection of the lights on the Las Vegas strip on the ice crystals in the clouds.
33:07Our verdict? Light pillars.
33:10The odds of witnessing them are longer than hitting blackjack.
33:14So that Vegas Christmas crowd should still feel pretty lucky.
33:22Occasionally, reports of unidentified flying objects emerge from the same geographic area for no apparent reason.
33:29It turns out Medellin, Colombia, has become one of those places.
33:33And our next video may be more proof that something strange is happening in South America.
33:40June 2020, Juan Morales is hanging out with his cousin when a strange light in the sky suddenly grabs his
33:47attention.
33:47He rushes to the window and captures this.
33:50A small string of light floats above the hills in the night sky.
33:54Zooming in reveals what appears to be a rectangular object lit by four green orb-like lights.
34:01Whatever it is, Juan and his cousin can't contain their astonishment.
34:13We really think that was a really UFO because it didn't move.
34:20And when it disappeared, it disappeared a second.
34:23This sighting isn't just a random occurrence.
34:26In fact, a more recent sighting over Medellin that we plan to analyze on a future show
34:31is now being touted as some of the best UFO footage ever.
34:35A pilot saw a strange object outside of his aircraft and was able to film it with his cell phone.
34:42The craft races past at a stunning speed, but appears to be a metallic sphere with a point on either
34:48end.
34:48That particular video went viral.
34:51And people all over the internet were commenting about whether this was some sort of alien spacecraft
34:58because of its strange shape and how it moved through the air.
35:01So have the aliens re-emerged over Colombia?
35:04After this video, I'm certain that the UFOs exist.
35:08But others believe these aerial sightings are connected to a far more earthly concern.
35:14We know that within recent years, with the shift in drone technology to becoming quite cheap,
35:19drug cartels are utilizing drones to essentially deliver or traffic drugs across borders
35:26or into other countries or locally.
35:27So there has been some speculation that this particular video actually shows
35:32a Colombian cartel's use of a drone to traffic drugs into the area.
35:39A spike in UFO sightings in 2014 earned Medellin the honor of UFO hotspot status.
35:47But will our experts be able to identify this strange object in the Colombian skies?
35:57First, is this craft just something we see all the time?
36:01Could our green disk simply be a passing airplane?
36:04There doesn't appear to be any kind of motion whatsoever with the object.
36:09And then the fact that it doesn't have the navigation lights like you would expect on an aircraft.
36:14You'd see some potentially other kind of colors like white or red, maybe, on the object.
36:19But there's nothing that makes me believe that it's an aircraft.
36:22But maybe it's a cartel drone.
36:25Cartel drones, seized by the Colombian military, had the ability to carry 22 pounds of cocaine
36:31and could travel about 60 miles in a single trip.
36:34But those drones were transporting drugs over the border to Panama, not in cities.
36:39Which is one reason why Mark D'Antonio doesn't think the theory makes sense.
36:44If you were a drug smuggler, would you have a drone with big bright lights on it up in the
36:48sky?
36:49And probably not.
36:50If so, the drug smugglers are pretty imbecilic.
36:55He thinks the lights also rule out any legitimate use.
36:59Drones have mandated lighting, so you would see some red lights and some green lights.
37:03You have to have those lights in order to fly.
37:06It doesn't look to me a drone with known lighting configuration that I've seen.
37:10So are we looking at something from beyond our world?
37:14In determining UFO activity, experts look for traits called the five observables,
37:19as seen in the UFOs recorded by the U.S. military.
37:22Anti-gravity capabilities, instantaneous acceleration, hypersonic velocity, low observability,
37:29and finally, the ability to move in space, air, and water.
37:34Of the observables, it's very indistinct.
37:37You can't make out anything in terms of other than the lights
37:40to be able to determine if it had any control surfaces on it.
37:43The fact that it didn't make any kind of things like hypersonic speed,
37:47it wasn't transmedium,
37:48there's nothing that calls out that it's like, you know,
37:52the big mothership from another planet that's coming down.
37:55However, D'Antonio believes he sees a clue to the object's identity
37:59not in the lights, but its shape.
38:01This could be a delta wing where we're missing a couple of the lights
38:05because they're sort of foreshortened in our view along the line of this side here.
38:10A delta wing is a triangular swept-back airplane wing
38:13named for its similarity to the uppercase Greek letter delta.
38:17And what kind of delta wing thing do we have
38:19that we fly in the air and it's relatively stationary?
38:22Well, a kite!
38:24D'Antonio thinks the surrounding landscape seals the deal.
38:28This is bright green throughout, so it's somewhat closer to us.
38:31When they zoom out, there's some fields down here.
38:34It would probably be close to 300 feet off the ground.
38:38Based on the size of the details in this area down here
38:40and looking at the size of street lamps and windows,
38:43with a delta wing kite of about four feet across,
38:46it would actually fit this profile if it was over that field down below.
38:55Our verdict?
38:56While we think D'Antonio's reasoning
38:58that this is a lit-up kite with green bulbs is sound,
39:02in our minds, the image is just too far away
39:05and indistinct to come to a definitive conclusion.
39:08So we're going to say this is an unidentified object,
39:12at least for now.
39:13New UFO hotspots continue to light up all over the world.
39:18And with each report, the same question still arises.
39:21Are we alone, or is the proof out there?
39:25Thank you for watching this special episode of The Proof is Out There.
39:29Please send us any videos, images, or sound
39:31that you think we should investigate.
39:33And remember to keep those cameras rolling.
