00:07Tell us a little bit about your rodeo career so far.
00:10Dad's like, do it, do it. I'm like, oh fine.
00:14I started getting on Buffalo when I was four years old.
00:17So I liked it and just kept doing it.
00:21My first rodeo was very different to what these kids did.
00:24We did mutton busting, so that was riding sheep.
00:28That's something that doesn't happen anymore.
00:30So you reckon you got peer pressured into it and then you won instantly?
00:33Yeah, first try, first go. Pure luck.
00:37Yeah, my first ever rodeo was at Pussycat Downs and I got second in it.
00:42It teaches them a bit of perseverance and resilience
00:46because they've got to get over a fair bit
00:48and eventually they're going to get hurt and they've got to get over that too.
00:51I broke my arm and I didn't do it the next two years
00:56and I went again and I'm like, oh I'll try it one more time.
00:58I got stomped in the bar and I haven't rode for the last three years
01:02but I'm thinking about getting on next year.
01:05The only time I've got scared is the oldest fella lost a tooth one night
01:10and it wasn't so much the tooth, it was what my wife was going to say
01:14when we finally caught up.
01:19Tell us what's happening there.
01:22Oh, um, oh Jesus Christ.
01:26Um, one of my friends just rode and he got stomped on.
01:32We went up a prick rodeo and a proper professional rodeo.
01:36Let's get it done, we can go back to the bar.
01:38Just a different kind of environment up here, different lifestyle I find.
01:45It just makes it better.
01:46I suppose everyone can really get along and, you know,
01:49everyone's kind of like dressed the same and get to know each other
01:52in like our type of way.
01:54A lot of people talk about it being a good community
01:57and everyone's out here supporting their mates.
01:59Is that what it's like with your mates as well?
02:01Yeah, it's always.
02:12There's no competition between any of them.
02:14They're all mates and they do it with each other
02:17and they, um, they're genuinely happy for each other when they succeed.
